  • John Cena Joins ‘Looney Tunes’ Spinoff ‘Coyote vs. Acme’

John Cena Joins ‘Looney Tunes’ Spinoff ‘Coyote vs. Acme’

It looks like that ain’t all folks, as a new Looney Tunes animated hybrid project is in development titled Coyote vs. Acme. Dave Green will direct the film based on The New Yorker humor article of the same name by Ian Frazier. It’ll follow Wile E. Coyote who tries to sue ACME Corporation after a few too many broken purchases. The project has now cast Peacemaker actor John Cena as the former boss of Coyote’s new lawyer.

Chris DeFaria is producing the project alongside James Gunn through their Two Monkeys, A Goat and Another, Dead, Monkey Productions. It’ll be based on a screenplay by Samy Burch and may offer a different take on the popular cartoon franchise. It looks like Warner Bros. is all-in on their relationship with Gunn and ready to also explore some non-DC-related projects.

The concept sounds like a fun departure from previous Looney Tunes projects and might be the one to kick off a new series of films that put the popular cartoon characters in very “human” situations. The Looney Tunes Show did something similar to quite some success and even reinvented Lola Bunny to give her a unique personality. It’ll be interesting to see what the project has to offer and who else might join the cast.

  • Ryan Reynolds Talks ‘Deadpool 3’ and Possible Appearance in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Ryan Reynolds Talks ‘Deadpool 3’ and Possible Appearance in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

The internet has been ablaze since every single part of the new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Some eagle-eyed fans seemingly spotted what could be Deadpool on the poster, who is shushing anyone finding the minor detail. In a new interview with Variety, while promoting his upcoming film The Adam Project, the actor simply stated “I’m really not in the movie. I’m promising, I’m not in the movie” after they tested if he might be lying as other actors have in the past – looking at you Andrew Garfield. The only other update he offered on the upcoming third Deadpool film was by simply stating “It’s coming along.”

We know very little about his upcoming third film and how exactly it might fit into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s surprising he didn’t play along and was quite straightforward with his denial or update. It would be nice to get an update in the near future about where the project currently is, especially with no director attached as of now. Free Guy‘s Shawn Levy has become a popular choice but some would also love to see Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi reunite with his Green Lantern co-star to give it a shot. We’ll have to be patient for now.

  • Jame Gunn Teases New Genre for Next ‘The Suicide Squad’ Spinoff

Jame Gunn Teases New Genre for Next ‘The Suicide Squad’ Spinoff

James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad spinoff, Peacemaker, was just renewed for a second season but that isn’t all the director has been actively working on. He’s teased that there are other projects in some form of development, but never gave away what exactly it might end up being. In an interview with Deadline, the director did avoid a joke question about Peter Capaldi‘s Thinker becoming the main focus, he joked around but ended up teasing the next spinoff that might explore a different genre altogether.

I can’t say anything. It is connected to this universe, and I don’t think it will be the same genre as Peacemaker, it won’t be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe.

It makes sense for the director to try out new things, he is no stranger to exploring different genres. I would love to see him return to his horror roots with DC characters. His latest two projects did include the ongoing theme of body-snatching – a curious recurring theme there Gunn – but there’s a lot of potential for him to fully embrace those roots. We’ll probably still have to wait for a bit until we get an actual announcement but it’ll be exciting.

  • Concept Art Offers First Look at Seth Rogen’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Moivie

Concept Art Offers First Look at Seth Rogen’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Moivie

It’s been a busy day, as Paramount went all out during its Earnings Call to talk about the future of its franchises. Among them was the announcement that Seth Rogen’s upcoming animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film will release in 2023 and will even get a villain-focused spinoff. It looks like that wasn’t all just yet, as @getFandom has also shared a first look at the series’ designs of the four turtles, which will offer us a feeling for what to expect from the project.

    https://twitter.com/getFANDOM/status/1493735457972056068

I am sold on the designs, mostly because of their simplicity. In the past, there’s been a strong focus on overloading the turtles with elements to make them unique. It looks like they’ll still retain some iconic elements, but it feels way more reserved. Donatello has some simple glasses but nothing too “techy” oversaturating his design. Raphael gets some bandages to highlight his rough attitude but no overabundance of scars or a bigger physique.

Who knows if the designs evolve throughout the film and especially if they plan on expanding it into its own universe or trilogy. If they are already planning a spinoff focused on the film’s antagonists, it might be a sign that they’ve certainly made some plans on how they want to expand the franchise and it’ll be exciting to see what a new cinematic TMNT series offers.

  • ‘A Quiet Place 3’ to Release in 2025

‘A Quiet Place 3’ to Release in 2025

ViacomCBS – who has now rebranded to Paramount – is currently busy announcing its future plans and just throwing one piece of news out after another. Among their many iconic IPs is the horror franchise A Quiet Place, which John Krasinski kicked off and is slowly evolving into its own cinematic universe. The first spinoff, which just added Pig director Michael Sarnosky is eyeing a release in 2023, but it looks like the official third entry will be heading to theaters in 2025. Sadly, no further details were given.

It’ll be interesting to see how exactly the spinoff might connect to the upcoming third entry. We know that Krasinski is set to return alongside Emily Blunt in the next entry of the franchise, which is theorized to take place before the events of the original film. So, it may build up some connections that may pay off in the release of the third entry that further expands the world that suddenly fell silent.

  • ‘Teen Wolf’ Movie and Spinoff Series in Development

‘Teen Wolf’ Movie and Spinoff Series in Development

Today we got word that a Teen Wolf movie is in the works for Paramount+. The movie will have multiple returning cast members including Tyler Posey and Holland Roland. Along with the movie announcement, we also got a quick word that the movie will lead into an original show titled Wolf Pack that will also stream on Paramount+.

The original series started back in 2011 and is based on a film from 1985 with the same name. Posey took on the role of the titular character and the series ran for six whole seasons. The teen drama was met with a lot of praise at the time and released just around the whole supernatural teenage angst era that was kicked off with Twilight. It’ll be interesting to see how Wolf Pack tackles the franchise and even reinvents it for a new generation.

  • Chris Pine and Fellow Cast In Talks to Return, New ‘Star Trek’ Film Eyeing 2022 Production Start

Chris Pine and Fellow Cast In Talks to Return, New ‘Star Trek’ Film Eyeing 2022 Production Start

Against all odds, it seems Chris Pine and the rest of the 2009 Star Trek cast may come aboard for another mission. Deadline is reporting the Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement star and his shipmates are in talks to reprise their roles for the next Trek film, with a production start set for late 2022. Paramount’s reported intention is to bring back Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Lieutenant Uhura, Karl Urban as Dr. Bones McCoy, Simon Pegg as Scotty, and John Cho as Sulu, alongside Pine‘s Captain James T. Kirk.

If everyone were to return, they’d join a production helmed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman and produced by original series director J.J. Abrams. The most recent draft of the script is being worked on by Josh Freidman and Cameron Squires, based on a draft by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Currently, all plot details are being kept a firm secret, but the film will likely continue the adventures established in the prior three installments. The past few years have seen the studio’s Star Trek plans in limbo, with potential projects from filmmakers Quintin Tarantino and Noah Hawley floating in the air after an initial attempt at a fourth film with the original cast fell apart. It was reported at the time that the franchise stalled due to conflict over pay cuts with the movie’s leading cast. Back then, the movie would have been directed by S.J. Clarkson, who went on to take a job leading Sony’s upcoming Madame Webb adaptation.

  • ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Already in Development Ahead of Sequel’s Release

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Already in Development Ahead of Sequel’s Release

It looks like Sonic’s big-screen adventures are here to stay. It’s being reported that Paramount Pictures and the Sega Corporation have begun active development on a third film in the franchise, tentatively titled Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The news comes before the upcoming sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, has even hit theaters and was revealed at the Viacom Investor Event alongside the reveal of a Knuckles spin-off series for Paramount+.

No plot details or casting information has been made available in regards to the threequel, as the project is obviously in its earliest stages of production. Although, it seems likely Ben Schwartz would return as the title character. Haruki Satomi, CEO of Sega Corporation, had the following to say about the announcement:

We are delighted to announce that the third Sonic theatrical film and the first live action Sonic series for Paramount+ are being actively developed…Sonic has been beloved by fans across the world for over 30 years and we look forward to continuing to bring memorable moments and experiences to them for many years to come.

    Haruki Satomi

The first Sonic film was a surprise success, dropping in theaters just before the start of the pandemic. It quickly became the top-grossing video game adaptation of all time, making $320 million at the worldwide box office. Sonic and his friends have always inspired a passionate fanbase, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Paramount continued to come up with projects for the characters in the future.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 races into theaters on April 8th.

  • Latest ‘Batgirl’ Set Photos Offer Best Look Yet at Michael Keaton’s New Batman Suit

Latest ‘Batgirl’ Set Photos Offer Best Look Yet at Michael Keaton’s New Batman Suit

A few days ago, we got the first look at Michael Keaton arriving on the set of Batgirl in his Batman costume. Sadly, it was a bit difficult to make out due to it being quite dark and far away. Luckily, it seems that some more photos have found their way online that offer a better look at his updated suit for the HBO Max film. You can check out the images provided by @JTsLeague right here:

The costume looks great and surprisingly similar to what he wore back in 1998. Even the headpiece seems to follow the same structure, but we won’t know for sure if he can finally tilt his neck until the film releases. There’s always the chance that the fabric being used can replicate the look but also offer some more functionality for Keaton while acting. It’s certainly no longer a rubber suit that needs to be ripped off of him so he can escape it. The biggest addition seems to be the shoulder pads that connect to the cape and the cowl. He did have some in the original but it’s way more pronounced this time around.

If you look closely, his logo has also been changed slightly. It seems closer to the one he had in the original film and not its sequel, which altered it slightly to be closer to the logo used on most of the promotional material. As we haven’t gotten a good look at his costume in The Flash, it’ll be interesting to see how much they may have changed or adapted between these films to keep his look fresh. No matter what, it looks great and hopefully we get an official look soon.

  • ‘A Christmas Story’ Sequel Adds 4 More Familiar Faces

‘A Christmas Story’ Sequel Adds 4 More Familiar Faces

The upcoming A Christmas Story sequel titled A Christmas Story Christmas – no joke – has added a few more familiar faces, as Zack Ward (Scut Farkus), Ian Petrella (Randy), Scott Schwartz (Flick), and R.D. Robb (Schwartz) have now joined the cast of the upcoming Christmas movie. They’ll continue the storyline quite a few years after the original as an adult Ralphie, played by the returning Peter Billingsley, tries to give his kids the same magical Christmas that he had all these years ago.

Nick Schenk wrote the project with Clay Kaytis attached to direct the film for Warner Bros. and Legendary. Vince Vaughn is also on board producing it through the Wild West Picture Productions alongside Billingsley. The returning cast highlight how the project aims to build up him reuniting with some old friends and coming to terms with the death of his father.

It’s noteworthy that this is Petrella‘s first film since he played Randy in the original. So, it’ll be more than just a reunion for the actor. Ward has appeared on the FOX series Titus and in the recent Survive The Game project. R.D. Robb has been focusing primarily on the producing side of the film industry and was involved with Freeform’s Siren. Schwartz went on to appear in The Toy, KIDCO, and in a recurring role on ABC’s The Goldbergs.
