  • RUMOR: Another Fan-Favorite X-Men May Appear in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

RUMOR: Another Fan-Favorite X-Men May Appear in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

If you are actively avoiding spoilers for the upcoming film, then only continue at your own risk.

It doesn’t look like the rumors will end anytime soon surrounding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. At this rate, they may be adding any character they possibly could, which hopefully won’t take away from Doctor Strange’s story. Right after a new LEGO set may have confirmed two long-rumored Marvel characters joining the film, it seems that one more rumor pops up. Illuminerdi’s Joseph Deckelmeier has shared on Twitter that we’ll see the addition of Wolverine.

In his tweet, he does go on to highlight that it is not Hugh Jackman returning to the role. So, we are left with the question of who it might end up being if this rumor turns out true. Plus, we might expect the character, as he could either be part of the Illuminati that we got teased during the Super Bowl trailer, or he may appear throughout Strange’s journey.

So far, most rumors have surrounded who might be part of the Illuminati’s council, but we forget that he might be traveling through multiple parts of the multiverse. We even saw a glimpse of an animated dimension, which could be the home of the now-confirmed X-Men ’97 revival series. At this point, anything could happen and we are excited to see what rumor may end up true once the film finally releases this May.

  • ‘Uncharted’ Beats Expectation with $51M Over the President Day Weekend

‘Uncharted’ Beats Expectation with $51M Over the President Day Weekend

It looks like Tom Holland‘s latest film has managed to once again beat expectations, as Uncharted is now on its way to a domestic opening with $51M. Initially, it was expected to make around $30M+ with around $40M being its potential highest point, but the film beat out expectations. Its above-mentioned total is for the President Day weekend with its three-day total landing at $44.2M. Globally, the film has already passed $100M as of this point and received a B+ CinemaScore from its male-dominated audience. Sony Motion Picture Group president Josh Greenstein shared the following statement:

Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg are brilliant together. Thank you to our sister company, PlayStation, for their incredible partnership, and all the many people who worked so hard to bring this film to life in a big, theatrical way.

    Josh Greenstein

It’s another win for director Ruben Fleischer, who also made quite the splash in the box office with Venom some years ago. Another winner for the weekend was Channing Tatum’s Dog which also beat out expectations and took in $15.1M over the three days. The film is inspired by the 2017 HBO documentary War Dog: A Soldier’s Best Friend and seemingly struck a chord with audiences. The third spot went to Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Sony-Marvel film is still holding on tightly to the box office as it continues to take in as much as it can before its physical release.

  • Peter Billingsley Finds His ‘A Christmas Story’ Sequel Family

Peter Billingsley Finds His ‘A Christmas Story’ Sequel Family

The upcoming legacy sequel A Christmas Story Christmas sees the return of Peter Billingsley in the role of Ralphie. The story follows an adult version of the character, who is trying to give his children that special Christmas he had all that time ago. While we recently learned that a few of the cast are returning, it looks like the film has found his family as Erinn Hayes, River Drosche, and Julianna Layne join the production as his wife and two kids.

It’s still cute to see this Christmas classic return and it’ll be interesting to see if his children will end up as the main protagonists of this story similar to how Billingsley was back in the day. Of course, they may echo quite a few iconic moments, such as the pink bunny suit. The only trouble with these legacy sequels lies in the fact that they tend to get overshadowed by nostalgia. So, here’s hoping the classic can pave its own path without being weighed down by the original.

  • China Once Again Welcomes Superhero Films Back With ‘The Batman’ Approved to Release

China Once Again Welcomes Superhero Films Back With ‘The Batman’ Approved to Release

The Batman truly is an international star, as The Hollywood Reporter revealed the film has been signed off to release in the Chinese market. It’s the first to do so in quite some time. Matt Reeves‘ upcoming film will find its way into the Eastern market on March 18th. It’ll follow a release in Taiwan and South Korea on March 2nd. The biggest advantage for the release of this film in this market lies in that there’s no HBO Max simultaneous release, as the country is infamous for piracy. So far, the only other Chinese approved releases are Death on the Nile, the 2018 Woody Allen film A Rainy Day in New York, and Uncharted.

Many other releases were facing some trouble finding their way to the market with 2021 only seeing a handful making their way East. Spider-Man: No Way Home was actually hinted at getting releases in the market for some time, but it looks like this article confirms that it simply never got approved. There probably were just rumblings, but it’s not like the film had to rely on that market as it continued to break records during its ongoing release.

The Batman is promising a 3-hour noir-inspired take on the iconic DC character and has a good chance to be another release to redefine how powerful superhero films are at the box office. It’s unclear what surprises Reeves‘ rendition of the character might have in store for us, but we’re only a few more weeks away until it finally releases in theaters.

  • Tom Holland’s ‘Uncharted’ Eyeing a $30M+ Opening Weekend

Tom Holland’s ‘Uncharted’ Eyeing a $30M+ Opening Weekend

While everyone’s been busy talking about the Peacemaker finale and the release of Horizon: Forbidden West, cinemas were also filling up again for Tom Holland‘s next release, Uncharted. While it didn’t quite convince our very own Hunter Radesi, whose review you can read by clicking here, it looks like the film is still off to a decent start at the domestic box office. It took in $3.7M in its Thursday previews and is on its way towards a $30M+ opening weekend.

The film was already released last week in select international markets to a strong start with $22M. That was only in 15 smaller markets and we’re still anticipating the numbers from its current state internationally. The origin story of the popular Naughty Dog franchise takes a different approach, as director Ruben Fleischer brought together Holland as the character of Nathan Drake alongside Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan.

It’s not the strongest opening for a big blockbuster film, and we’ll see if it’ll perform stronger internationally. Video game releases have had the tendency to have stronger openings in global markets, but the bigger question is how strong the legs are for this project. You’d think a Holland-led project would dominate this shortly after the release of Spider-Man, but it might be a bigger testament to just how strong the Marvel character’s grip is on the box office.

It’s a Forrest Gump reunion on Here.

Tom Hanks is reuniting with Robert Zemeckis and Eric Roth, who he previously worked with on Forrest Gump, in an adaptation of the graphic novel Here from writer Richard McGuire. The news was first revealed by Deadline with the outlet stating that studios and streamers are hot for the package, although no clear winner has been announced. As always with packages as hot as this, a deal will likely be made relatively soon.

Here was published in 2014 and centers its story in the corner of a single room, focusing on the many people who inhabit it over years, from between the years 500,957,406,073 BC and 2313 AD. McGuire’s Here is based on the legendary 1989 comic strip of the same name. The graphic novel is an expanded take on the original comic strip.

  • ‘The Batman’ Cast Listing Hints at Barry Keoghan’s Mysterious Role

‘The Batman’ Cast Listing Hints at Barry Keoghan’s Mysterious Role

It was back in 2020 when Warner Bros. and DC brought the very first DC Fandome event to screens all around the world, highlighting anything and everything DC Comics. The Batman took center stage at this event with the very first trailer. It was during Fandome that we found out Eternals Barry Keoghan had joined the film. Yet there was no word on who he might end up playing. It looks like a new casting list may have added some weight to a rumor going around on who he might be playing.

If you want to go into The Batman spoiler-free, then please do not continue.

When he was first added to the cast, he was listed as Stanley Merkel, a GCPD officer. It seemed like a surprisingly small role for the well-established actor. It wasn’t until the rumors started making the rounds that there is more to Keoghan‘s role. A new cast listing for the film has appeared and the actor is included in a new role simply known as “Unseen Arkham Prisoner”. The fact he would play an “unseen” character further makes you wonder who he might be playing.

Now, there’s more to this listing that may further add to who he might be playing. Mike Marino, who did the prosthetic work for The Penguin is also listed as doing work for Keoghan‘s character, which would be weird considering he’s listed as unseen. Why go through the work to design his look if you’re not going to use it on screen.

Recent rumors have swirled suggesting that he is actually playing the Joker, who has already been locked away by this new version of Batman. They could be lifting elements from The Killing Joke when early in his career, the Caped Crusader stopped the Red Hood gang at Ace Chemicals with their red herring falling into a vat of chemicals. That person turned out to be the Joker.

  • New Figure Provides a Detailed Look at Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor from ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

New Figure Provides a Detailed Look at Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor from ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Marvel Studios continues to get beat to the punch in terms of costume reveals for their upcoming films. Recently, early looks at collectible figures have given fans detailed looks at the costumes of characters from upcoming films such as Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, a set of images has hit the internet, courtesy of Mephistu, that provides a very detailed look at Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor costume from the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.

While this isn’t the first time fans have had a chance to glimpse Jane’s new look, the collectible, from S.H. Figuarts, is incredibly detailed even if the photos are a bit lo-res. The poseable figure not only comes with Mjlonir and a very cool looking blue lightning effect, it also seems to capture the moment in which Jane becomes Thor and Mjolnir is reforged! Set photos taken early in the film’s production seemed to tease the exact moment captured by the figure.

Thor: Love and Thunder, which is now scheduled for a July 8, 2022 release, will see Natalie Portman return as Foster and team up with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor to take on Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale.

  • ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer Dominated Social Media Post-Super Bowl

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Trailer Dominated Social Media Post-Super Bowl

The Super Bowl was quite the night for sports fans and media fans. We got some new movie and TV trailers to highlight what is heading our way in the year, such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It looks like it created quite the online buzz. Deadline shared a new statistic on how the various trailers have performed within a 24-hour window. RelishMix provided the data and took a 24-hour viral analysis between Facebook Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. It looks like the latest Marvel film was the winner followed by Jurassic World: Dominion.

To offer some comparison, Doctor Strange has garnered five times the amount that Black Widow did during the Super Bowl before the pandemic hit. Though it garnered 143M global online views, which is behind Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Endgame‘s 355.5M and 289M respectively. Even Dominion tripled its numbers from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom back in 2018. Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power though garnered an impressive 257M views and held the all-time post-game traffic for a trailer dropped during the Super Bowl.

Moon Knight is quite low surprisingly, but there’s a chance that it simply was overshadowed by the cinematic offering. It’s the drawback of multiple trailers releasing from the same franchise, as the Disney+ series overall has been performing quite impressively so far. All eyes were on the massive tease from the Doctor Strange trailer and Amazon was smart to offer its very first full trailer during the night. As such, all new trailer releases were the ones to dominate the night while shorter spots probably gained most of their viewership during the event directly. Still, really interesting to see this development.

  • Kate McKinnon is Latest Star to Join ‘Barbie’

Kate McKinnon is Latest Star to Join ‘Barbie’

There must be something about Barbie, as the upcoming live-action adaptation has found another actress to join the project. We just recently reported that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsSimu Liu has joined the project and now it seems like former Ghostbuster Kate McKinnon is also on board. Mattel is putting together quite the cast for a unique take on the classic Barbie doll toy. As of now, the cast consists of Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrara, the previously-mentioned Liu, and now McKinnon. Greta Gerwig is attached to direct Sadly, no word on who the latest addition will play in the film.

Gerwig‘s filmography would certainly hint at a very different take on the classic Barbie doll, which isn’t a stranger to film adaptations. The cast is certainly becoming a promising addition to hint at just how invested the team behind this project is. It’ll be interesting to see what roles the actors will take on and how they might tackle the project from a modern perspective. Not much is known about the project, which has the potential to reach similar highs as The Lego Movie did back when it was released. We’ll certainly be keeping an eye out who else might end up joining, as anything is possible at this rate.
