  • First Look at ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Prowler Released

First Look at ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Prowler Released

Now, this is an interesting way to reveal a major character in a game. Spider-Man: Miles Morales has teased its primary antagonist in the first gameplay trailer a while back. We got our first look at a very unique interpretation of the Tinkerer, who is in the middle of a gang war with Roxxon. Miles finds himself in the middle of the battle trying to keep people safe. We all wondered who else would be added with a short tease of Rhino as the first boss battle followed the initial announcement. Now, it looks like one more major villain will be added to the game, as they offered us our first look at the Prowler in the latest variant cover for Amazing Spider-Man #55.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduced many to the iconic villain, who has deep ties to Miles’ family. Originally, the character made his debut back in 1969. Many held the title but none were as iconic as Miles’ own uncle, Aaron Davis. His design already teases that he may have gotten his hands on the equipment through Tinkerer. This is a callback to the comics, where he did the same thing in the Ultimate universe. Spider-Man: Miles Morales seems to be playing around a lot with its colors. Tinkerer stands out with her purples and Prowler will be utilizing green. It is interesting to note that purple was associated witht he Prowler in the past, as even his original Ultimate costume was a purple version of Deadpool’s. He also seems to have green-glowing claws similar to that of Black Panther. Sadly, his iconic cape isn’t included from the animated film but hopefully we will find out his role in the story soon, as we are only a few weeks away from the games’ release.

  • ‘Destruction AllStars’ Delayed Until February as Free PlayStation Plus Release

‘Destruction AllStars’ Delayed Until February as Free PlayStation Plus Release

We are only a few weeks away from the release of the next generation of consoles. I sadly did not get a chance to pre-order it, as they sold out quite quickly. Of course, a new generation of games also comes with a variety of new launch titles. PlayStation 5 has been garnering buzz for the games that will be available with launch, which includes Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon Souls. There is, however, one more major new launch title Destruction AllStars. It was a new entry into the popular Battle Royale genre. It would add the ability to switch between vehicles during combat to add a new spice to the genre. It was planned as a full release with the next-generation price increase.

In a sudden twist, PlayStation announced that the game will be postponed until February 2021. Not only that, as it will also be available for two months on PlayStation Plus for free. Their official blog points out that they plan to let as many people as possible to experience it. The game will strongly depend on online players, so this might be a hint that the initial sales were lower than expected. The game is a brand-new IP and comes at a high price, which may have deterred some from trying it out.

It is unsure if the game will be available for full-price after the two-month PS+ period ends. Of course, PlayStation confirmed that people will have their pre-order refunded. We will also get a new trailer next month to showcase what the game has to offer. It is just crazy to see a full retail game being pushed to PS+ on release for free. It must be a heavy blow, but these types of games also live off of microtransactions. Its delay does not bode well for the online game, but we will see in February how it performs.

  • PlayStation 5 Not Backward Compatible With PSX, PS2 or PS3

There has been much debate on how much backward compatibility will be possible for PlayStation 5. Microsoft proudly proclaimed that their next entry Xbox Series X would be able to play games as far back as the original’s 2001 Xbox library. So, it seemed like a perfect opportunity for its biggest competitor to follow suit. The thought of playing my original Final Fantasy VII or PS2’s Persona 4 on the same console sounded like a promising prospect. Sadly, it looks like that won’t be the case after all.

Someone asked a question over on Ubisoft’s Support page about upgrading from a PlayStation 4 to the next-gen console. In it, they may have accidentally confirmed that it will only support titles from the previous generation. This means any games from the original PlayStation up until PlayStation 3 will not be playable on the latest entry. We still have to keep in mind this isn’t a confirmation by Sony, so they may have some long-term plans potentially that production companies aren’t informed by yet.

This is a bit disappointing. Of course, the next-gen console is there to play the latest games. Still, it’s just a waste to not embrace the history that came before. After five generations of consoles, it’s the perfect time to pay tribute to the ones that started it all. Also, each new generation makes it difficult to keep older consoles around due to a lack of space or plug-ins on the TV. This would’ve been the perfect opportunity to remedy this issue and celebrate the past. Here’s hoping that at least the next-gen console will include the return of some classic franchises with new entries. I am still not losing hope on the return of Sly Cooper for the next generation.

Gamescom: ‘Ratched & Clank: Rift Apart’ Extended Demo Showcases Next-Gen

Not too long ago, Sony finally revealed their next generation console PlayStation 5. It hada. line-up of games to show just how strong the next generation will end up being. Among them was a brief showcase of Ratched & Clank: Rift Apart. It highlighted how the new systems will allow for fluid animation and faster loading. We’ve been anxiously waiting for more gameplay that proves just how big the next generation will be. Luckily, Gamescom gave us an entire uninterrupted Demo that shows just what the PS5 is capable of. Insomniac got a chance to highlight how the DualSense will also allow you to control how you use the various weaponry.

It is the extended gameplay trailer we saw briefly teased during the console showcase, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

  • PlayStation 5 Global Ad Teases Immersive DualSense Experience

PlayStation 5 Global Ad Teases Immersive DualSense Experience

We are so close to the bran new generation of gaming. It is astounding to think that with only a few more months to go before the Holiday season we know very little about the new consoles. There were some events to tease the new games and consoles’ designs. Yet, we still do not have an official pricing or even release date. While the pandemic did delay things quite a bit, it still seems odd that both consoles are dragging out the price reveal. It makes sense so they don’t end up as the more expensive option by the end of it but it also kept them from really starting their ad campaigns. Well, looks like Sony got tired of waiting an created a global ad to tease the sensual experience their new controller DualSense will offer.

Sadly, this isn’t a trailer for the VR experience but they still are trying to sell the immersive experience the console will offer. DualSense has programmable triggers that act different depending on what you are playing. The moment the player wants to pull back the string to shoot an arrow, they will feel the tension of it. It’s an intriguing concept to add more connection between player and the game. One isn’t forced to use motion sensors or gimmicks to get that immersion. It’s haptic feedback that just adds to the overall gaming experience.

Plus, there could be some creative ways of giving new life to gaming moments. Perhaps this way quick time events are given more life. It’s not just pressing a button during a cutscene but actually interacting with it. We will see what Sony has planned with this new DualSense once we can get our hands on the console. Personally, just thinking of swinging between skyscrapers as Miles in Spider-Man: Miles Morales while feeling the tension of the webswing sounds amazing.
