First Look: ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Funko Pops!

It turns out the synergy of Disney Plus Day spread beyond announcements and trailers of upcoming programming. As part of the event, we now have our first look at two Funko Pop! figures from the upcoming and highly anticipated streaming series, The Book of Boba Fett.

The first two Pops from the line are, to nobody’s surprise, based on the two leads of the series, Boba Fett and his companion Fennec Shand.

  • Jennifer Beals Joins ‘The Book of Boba Fett’

Jennifer Beals Joins ‘The Book of Boba Fett’

Now that the trailer has finally dropped for The Book of Boba Fett, everyone is looking for the tiniest details they may have missed. Deadline did the same and went out of their way to confirm that one of the Twi-lek’s we see in the trailer is The L Word’s Jennifer Beals. She also took to Twitter to share her enthusiasm for joining the galaxy far far away with the upcoming December release of the first The Mandalorian spinoff.

Her exact role still remains a mystery, but there’s a good chance there’s more to her character than meets the eye. We still know quite little about the new series and its extensive cast. The trailer teased that our favorite bounty hunter is going to take on a new role as Tatooine’s de facto ruler. As such, it wouldn’t be too surprising that he’ll have quite a few people out for his neck to take over the throne. So, we’ll see if she might have ulterior motives in the upcoming series.

  • RUMOR: ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Might Have 9 Episodes

RUMOR: ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Might Have 9 Episodes

After a long wait, we finally got the first trailer for the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett. There’s still quite some time until it releases at the end of December. As a spinoff of The Mandalorian, it was assumed it might also follow a similar structure with around eight episodes getting released. Disney+ doesn’t restrict their episode counts and we’ve seen many series adapt the length depending on what the series requires. It looks like that Boba Fett’s upcoming adventure might run for around nine episodes according to Jordan Maison, who has shared stories in the past such as on the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game.

As this is the first time the show doesn’t follow a specific episode count, it does open the possibility that future entries on the streaming service don#t abide by a specific structure. Marvel Studios sets six episodes for hour-long series while half-hour shows will get around ten. As streaming doesn’t have to abide by any rules, it’s curious that most of them seem to try and structure their episode counts in advance rather than what the story requires. Still, it may be a way to keep the stories as focused as possible and consistent for viewers, especially with Disney+’s focus on weekly results. We’ll see if we get a confirmation on the episode count in the near future.

  • Disney+ Planning to Release 10+ ‘Star Wars’ Series in the Next Few Years

Disney+ Planning to Release 10+ ‘Star Wars’ Series in the Next Few Years

After a long wait, we finally got a poster and release date for Star Wars‘ next Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett. It’s been a while since we visited The Mandalorian‘s part of the galaxy far far away, but luckily it won’t take much longer. There’s still some uncertainty about when we can expect the third season featuring Din Djarin, but it looks like the streaming service and the House of Mouse has big plans for the franchise. In a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter, they’ve shared that Disney is currently eyeing 11 Star Wars series to release in the upcoming years.

They haven’t specified if this also includes repeat seasons, which are only confirmed for The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch. If these are excluded, we are currently only aware of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, Andor, Lando, A Droid Story, and Acolyte. If the Boba Fett-centric story isn’t included in the list, there are five unannounced series heading to Disney+. Disney+ Day won’t feature a showcase of their future projects, but we may get a few teases of the already announced projects.

So, we’ll likely get future announcements if Disney holds another Investor’s Day this December. Keep in mind, this also doesn’t include potential films or specials as they use the wording “series” specifically. It’s great to see how much potential Disney sees in their streaming service, as they continue to expand. Hopefully, we’ll get a clearer picture of what their future releases entail as we enter 2022.

  • ‘The Mandalorian’s Ludwig Göransson to Compose ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Spinoff

‘The Mandalorian’s Ludwig Göransson to Compose ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Spinoff

We’re still anxiously waiting for any update on the upcoming The Mandalorian spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett. We haven’t seen any footage and it’s still set to premiere in December. We’ll likely get our first look next month or the latest during Disney+ Day, as they’re teasing a special on the popular bounty hunter. To tie us over until then, Film Music Reporter has unveiled that Ludwig Göransson will continue his work in the Star Wars universe, as he’ll also compose the upcoming spinoff series.

They also report that scoring sessions have already started in recent weeks, which hopefully means we get a tease in the upcoming trailer. Göransson did offer our first glimpse into the music for the spinoff series when it got revealed during the second season’s post-credit sequence. So, he’ll likely also continue the musical composition he’s built around the world of The Mandalorian, as he also worked on the same season the character made its grand return.

  • Disney+ Day ‘Star Wars’ Special Only to Focus on Boba Fett, No Word on Future Entries

Disney+ Day ‘Star Wars’ Special Only to Focus on Boba Fett, No Word on Future Entries

We are long awaiting the first look at The Book of Boba Fett. Not only is it the first spin-off of the popular The Mandalorian series, but it’s also the grand return of a much-beloved character in the limelight. It’s currently slated to get a December release, but there still hasn’t been any confirmation or showcase of that. When the announcement dropped that we are getting a special Disney+ Day, we expected some announcements for future installments. Seems like Star Wars might have every different special planned.

As announced by Disney, the MCU will get a special look at the past and future of the franchise. Star Wars is getting a different one, as it’ll celebrate “the origins and legacy of Star Wars’ legendary bounty hunter, Boba Fett.” If we don’t get a trailer by then, this might be our first official look at the spin-off. Still, it’s curious they aren’t mentioning anything of the other series that are currently in development.

Disney+’s website does mention first look sand new trailers, but it’s odd they wouldn’t state that there’ll be more to see from Star Wars other disney+ series. While only a few are in development, it’s the perfect time to tease the future or offer an update on The Mandalorian‘s third season, which’s production start seems to get pushed back more and more.

  • ‘THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT’s Robert Rodriguez Hypes Up Action with ‘THE MANDALORIAN’ Comparison

‘THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT’s Robert Rodriguez Hypes Up Action with ‘THE MANDALORIAN’ Comparison

After two strong seasons, The Mandalorian is taking a backseat for its first spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett. After his grand return, Temuera Morrison‘s Boba Fett takes centerstage in the upcoming Disney+ series with the help of director Robert Rodriguez. Earlier this month we heard rumors that the series will follow the bounty hunter exploits righting the wrongs that happened to him in the earlier films. Outside of this rumor, it has been rather quiet as we still await the show’s official release date in December. Luckily, Rodriguez offered a small tease in an interview with The Nerdy Basement.

I’ve got so much to tell you about that, but I’m out of time. Yeah, I can’t say anything about that, sworn to silence. I can say I’m working on it and I can tell you it’s gonna blow your mind. You saw him arrive in my episode of The Mandalorian, that was nothing. That was nothing. I can talk it up all I want because I know it’s gonna deliver, I know it’s gonna over-deliver.

    Robert Rodriguez

It’s certainly promising as the action sequence was one of the second season’s highlights. Boba Fett is a curious character, as he hasn’t done much within the cinematic aspect of the universe. Still, he became an instant fan-favorite and lived on through novelizations that seemed to inspire his return in the Disney+ series. So, the moment he took on an entire Stormtrooper platoon with ease and showcased his varied arsenal. It stuck out to many viewers of the series and Rodriguez certainly is hyping up what else the bounty hunter might have in store in the upcoming spinoff.

  • RUMOR: ‘THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT’ Will Feature a Revenge Story and New Armor

RUMOR: ‘THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT’ Will Feature a Revenge Story and New Armor

It feels like forever since we last heard new details on The Book of Boba Fett. Intel about the upcoming Disney Plus series has been kept mostly under wraps, but a report from StarWarsNewsNet earlier today might finally have changed that. The article claims the show will see the titular character going after everyone who wronged him in his past and that the search will also include a line-up of other intergalactic bounty hunters. While that plot reveal may be exactly what some fans were hoping for, this next part is a bit more surprising. The site asserts when Boba Fett goes on his grand revenge tour, he’ll do it in a brand new suit of armor.

We’ve seen Boba rock a variety of outfits in the past, but most of them came in the form of animated appearances taking place during his youth. Also, much of the character’s arc in The Mandalorian’s second season revolved around the feared mercenary’s attempts to re-obtain his iconic look. So, it comes as sort of a shock that he would so quickly move on to something new. However, StarWarsNewsNet was sure to point out that actor Temuera Morrison has confirmed flashback sequences in the series. These flashbacks could perhaps be linked to the aforementioned thoughts of revenge, and the use of a wardrobe change is a classic technique to differentiate between past and present scenery.

It has also been suggested that the new digs could be the result of a fun marketing push, with toys based around a new design. After all, the new design is being described as having a “much better paint job” than the last time we saw Fett.

The Book of Boba Fett does not currently has a release date.

  • ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Adds ‘Jurassic Park’s Cinematographer Dean Cundey

‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Adds ‘Jurassic Park’s Cinematographer Dean Cundey

Academy Award nominee Dean Cundey has been revealed to be The Book of Boba Fett‘s cinematographer. He has collaborated in several projects directed by iconic filmmakers. The list includes Steven SpielbergRobert Zemeckis, and John Carpenter. Cundey might be best known for 1988’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a Hollywood milestone in terms of combining live-action and animated sequences. This project earned him his only Academy Award nomination, eventually losing out to Peter Biziou‘s work in Mississippi Burning.

It’s certainly interesting that he is the choice to lead the camera and light crews in a Star Wars project, especially since The Mandalorian (from which The Book of Boba Fett spins-off off) has made a case of using a high number of practical effects that often, later on, have to be combined with CGI elements, something Cundey’s career has been all about.

The aforementioned Who Framed Roger Rabbit, HalloweenThe Thing, the Back to the Future trilogy, Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, Hookand Jurassic Park are just a few of the iconic projects the cinematographer has worked on. All of them are heavily instilled with the mix of practical and computer-generated effects we’ll likely find in the upcoming Disney+ series.

The Book of Boba Fett is due to premiere later this year on Disney+. Temuera Morrison returns as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen will reprise her Fennec Shand role, which got introduced in The Mandalorian and later featured in the animated show The Bad Batch. Plot details remain under wraps and here’s hoping we get a trailer soon to give us a glimpse into what direction this series is heading.

  • Temuera Morrison Confirms ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Will Explore His Time Post-Empire Strikes Back

Temuera Morrison Confirms ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Will Explore His Time Post-Empire Strikes Back

While The Mandalorian is taking a backseat, we have a new member of the race taking centerstage. Well, technically he is a clone but it was Boba Fett that popularized the look and feel. After making a grand return in the second season of the popular Star Wars series on Disney+, he will not grace the world with a spin-off titled The Book of Boba Fett. We did get a brief tease in a post-credit sequence from the last episode, where he revisits Jabba’s Palace on Tatooine but that was pretty much it. Now, it seems like actor Temuera. Morrison may have confirmed that we might finally get an answer on how he escaped the Sarlacc Pit back in Empire Strikes Backs.

Well, we can’t say too much, but we’re going to see his past and where he’s been since The Empire Strikes Back. Somebody pointed out he’s been kind of stuck in this one place, and now’s the time to actually go back in time and check out his journey and find out more about him.

We got a brief glimpse of him during the first season but we don’t know why he avoided getting back his iconic armor. There seemed to be a reason why he didn’t take it back from Timothy Olyphant‘s Cobb Vanth, who could make an appearance in the upcoming spin-off. We might get some introspection into the spiritual journey he undertook after leaving that past behind and whose names might be on his list after stewing in thoughts of revenge throughout the last years. Whatever the upcoming spin-off has in store for us, it’s great to finally get to see more of the iconic character in action.
