The search the MCU’s premier female mutant powerhouse has kicked into high gear, sugah.
During the latest edition of The Hot Mic, Jeff “The In” Sneider corroborated information originally dropped by MyTimeToShineHello and ApocHorseman, confirming that Alien: Romulus and Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery breakout star Cailee Spaeny is firmly in the mix to play Rogue.
The studio’s strong tracking of Spaeny points directly toward a total character rehabilitation compared to the old Fox films. For two decades, comic book purists voiced intense frustration over how the original movies stripped away Rogue’s fierce, powerhouse Southern personality to reframe her as a timid runaway.
The studio has reportedly been “rushing to cast” the project and young stars Inde Navarrette and Odessa A’zion have previously been rumored to be in the contention for the role in what’s been described as a female-focused take on the X-Men.
