  • Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Anna Torv Spotted in New ‘The Last of Us’ Set Video

Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Anna Torv Spotted in New ‘The Last of Us’ Set Video

We’ve gotten quite a few teases of The Last of Us set throughout the last few weeks. The HBO team has gone to a lot of lengths to bring the post-apocalypse world together that perfectly reflects the original game series. After various set photos of overgrown vehicles hitting the web, we finally got a video that offers our first look at the series cast filming. The photos are from the same location and feature Pedro Pascal‘s Joel, Bella Ramsey‘s Ellie, and Anna Torv‘s Tess. Twitter user @KeiraNystrom shared the video shot in Edmonton.

The same user also shared a set photo that gives us a better look at the main cast in some very familiar costumes. They went all out to bring their game designs to live-action and seeing them surrounded by a post-apocalypse seems quite fitting.

Curiously, the first official picture we got from the pair featured these two in the same outfit. It’s unclear where exactly this takes place but our first look didn’t feature Tess, who’s an important character in the earlier part of the original game. Her inclusion also highlights that this set might indeed be used for their short travel through Boston in the game. So far, the only thing we haven’t seen yet are the fungal-possessed zombies. They usually don’t stick around during daylight. As such, they’ll utilize this fact to keep them for indoor shots while also saving their budget to make the effects look better in the darker interiors.

  • ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Sequel’s Title May Have Leaked

‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Sequel’s Title May Have Leaked

It looks like the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s subtitle may have accidentally leaked online. The sequel to the 2018 animated hit has been quite the mystery outside of the casting of Issa Rae as Spider-Woman and Jake Johnson‘s return as Peter B. Parker. It seems that one of the film’s CFX supervisors, Simon Corbaux, may have accidentally leaked the title. In his work with Sony Pictures Imageworks, he’s listed on working the first Into the Spider-Verse film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and his latest addition: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The subtitle certainly works for the franchise, as they won’t drop Spider-Man or Spider-Verse. So, as the franchise continues to grow Miles Morales might have gone into, across, through, without, and what else they could think of regarding the Spider-Verse. Of course, the wording also hints at the story exploring multiple dimensions featuring the popular wall-crawler. The first ended on quite the cliffhanger that might get extended with this film. Here’s hoping they’ll also embrace the various incarnations like the famous Japanese Spider-Man.

There’s a lot of potential in this sequel, as there have been quite a few versions of the famous webhead throughout his tenure in comics. Back in February, we heard that The Dot might become the film’s main antagonist. His powers would make sense and he could even become the source for why our favorite cast of Spider-People gets cast out into the multiverse. Here’s hoping with the 2022 release, the wait won’t be too long.

  • New ‘Hawkeye’ Trailer Confirms Linda Cardellini’s Return

New ‘Hawkeye’ Trailer Confirms Linda Cardellini’s Return

Ever since the first trailer for Hawkeye dropped, fans noticed that someone important in Clint Barton’s family was missing. As he commits to keeping his new protégé Kate Bishop out of trouble, he ends up facing the challenge of getting home before Christmas. We see his kids but Linda Cardellini‘s Laura Barton was noticeably absent. Of course, it led to a lot of speculation that she may not get featured in the series, but Disney+ had other plans and the latest trailer finally confirmed her appearance.

    Image

The new trailer doesn’t reveal too much new, but it’s great to get a confirmation on her return. She likely won’t have a large role in the series, but might likely appear in the beginning and end. It’ll be interesting to explore their relationship as Jeremy Renner‘s Barton faces this new challenge. The earliest concept art teased Kate on the Barton farm some time ago, but it’s uncertain if the new direction of this Die Hard-inspired Disney+ series.

The upcoming series will explore Marvel Cinematic Universe’s street-level heroes. It seems like the most down-to-earth take on a story, especially with poor Clint getting beat up quite a bit in the trailer. It’ll join other Marvel Studios dramas with six episodes planned. The premiere will consist of two episodes, which is perfect for it to end ahead of The Book of Boba Fett‘s premiere in December. It’s going to be a busy fourth quarter ahead of us.

  • ‘One Piece’ Anime Celebrates 1,000 Episodes With New Key Art

‘One Piece’ Anime Celebrates 1,000 Episodes With New Key Art

One Piece started back in 1997 and has been one of the most popular Shonen Jump franchises. Its anime adaptation followed only two years later and continued to grow alongside the series created by Eiichiro Oda. As it continued to catch up with the manga, it introduced various filler arcs to bridge the time. Still, it managed to catch up with the manga once again as we entered the Wano arc. Inspired by Japan’s Edo period, the new storyline sees the conflict between Luffy and Kaido, which seeds were first planted in Punk Hazard. Just like the manga, the anime has also passed the 1,000 mark, and to celebrate, we got a brand new key art teasing their ongoing conflict.

The new key art includes the Tobiroppo and Lead Performers alongside Kaidu. After their conflict started what feels like half an eternity, Luffy is finally gunning for his head. This time around, he is joined by fellow pirates from the Worst Generation and Yamato. The latter might be the most popular new addition to the series, as she’s the daughter of Kaido. Yet, she claims to be Oden and wants to take vengeance upon her own father. Here’s hoping the wait isn’t too long to witness the final push to win the raid on Onigashima.

  • Jodie Whittaker Wraps Production on ‘Doctor Who: Flux’

Jodie Whittaker Wraps Production on ‘Doctor Who: Flux’

Doctor Who is once again about to enter a new era, as we learned that Russel T. Davis will return to act as showrunner for the popular BBC series back in September. His return for the franchise’s 60th anniversary comes at the cost of Jodie Whittaker leaving the franchise after taking over from Peter Capaldi in 2017. It was when Chris Chibnail took on the role of showrunner from Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin. They’ll end their run on the 13th incarnation of the doctor with a six-part series and three specials in 2022. They’ve just wrapped production on the thirteenth season with the subtitle Flux, as shared by the official Twitter channel.

Doctor Who is one of the longest-running live-action series of all time. As it enters its 60th anniversary, there are some high expectations with Russel T. Davis‘s return. Yet, it shouldn’t undermine the work put in by Whittaker‘s take on the iconic character. She brought a lot of life into the series and her work alongside Chibnail gave it a fresh of new energy. It’ll be curious if they’ll build upon that energy or take a completely new direction moving forward.

  • Pandemic Will Play a Role in ‘Halloween Ends’

Pandemic Will Play a Role in ‘Halloween Ends’

Here’s a rather curious reveal. The classic Halloween horror franchise has made a grand return. In 2018, director David Gordon Green revisited the franchise and offered a direct sequel to the original 1978 film, as Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle return in their respective roles. Their success led to two sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. The former is releasing in a few days with the sequel ending the new trilogy next year. As we await the next entry, Green offered a tease for the final entry in the new trilogy.

In an interview with Uproxx, he discusses how the upcoming third entry will take place during the time it releases. As such, it will also deal with real-world problems that affect people during that time. The pandemic hit people across the world and it seems that the poor Strode family will not just face a global virus alongside a man on a killing spree. Green goes on to highlight his approach with the threequel.

So if you think about it, I mean, where we’re leaving these characters on Halloween 2018, the world is a different place. So not only do they have their immediate world affected by that trauma, having time to process that trauma – and that’s a specific and immediate traumatic event in the community of Haddonfield. But then they also had a worldwide pandemic and peculiar politics and another million things that turned their world upside down.

    David Gordon Green

It’s an interesting idea to consider these real-world events in the upcoming story. Naturally, it’s not new for slasher films to integrate elements from whatever is happening during those times and it makes sense to explore it, especially as they are also filming under those restrictions. We can’t wait to see how Halloween Kills also sets up the sequel and builds upon it.

  • New Leak Reveals ‘Five Night’s At Freddy’s Next Funko Pops to Include Mobile AR Characters

New Leak Reveals ‘Five Night’s At Freddy’s Next Funko Pops to Include Mobile AR Characters

Five Night’s at Freddy‘s has grown quite a bit as a franchise. What started with some PC-only releases has expanded to other consoles, VR’s Help Wanted spinoff, an upcoming PS5-exclusive sequel, and even an augmented reality mobile game. The latter has introduced quite a few crazy additions to the franchise and it looks like you’ll soon be able to collect your favorite ones. Instagram user mariobros612, who also leaked the What If…? Funko Pops, offered a new update for some new FNAF collectibles.

In his latest list, he shares that the seventh series of Funkos will include varuizs fugzres tgat glow-in-the-dark, as they are inspired by the mobile AR game titled Five Night’s at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery. The list includes VR Toy Freddy, System Error Toy Bonnie, High Score Toy Chica, Radioactive Foxy, and Toxic Springtrap. The only non-glowing inclusion is the Irish inspired Shamrock Freddy.

The characters introduced in Special Delivery are some of the most creative designs introduced in the franchise. This list also confirms that the upcoming PS5-exclusive Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach will not get its own Funko’s anytime soon. The game still has no release date, as it was originally going to release late 2021. As it’s already October, the game might either have gotten delayed or we might get an announcement earlier rather than later.

It’s not been an easy time for the popular Chucky Cheese-inspired franchise, as the film has also recently lost its director Chris Columbus due to creative differences on the script. Even after creator Scott Cawthon worte up ten different drafts, he still hasn’t signed off on a project for Blumhouse Productions to bring it to life. Ever since the controversy surrounding the creator’s political stance made its way online, the franchise has taken a hit and news became quite sparse.

  • 7 Familiar Faces to Return for ‘Legends of Tomorrow’s 100th Episode

7 Familiar Faces to Return for ‘Legends of Tomorrow’s 100th Episode

Earlier this month, we learned that Wentworth Miller will make his return to Legends of Tomorrow‘s 100th episode. Of course, we expected a few more familiar faces to make a return and it seems Entertainment Weekly finally got the full list. Seven actors are returning for the special, which includes Arthur Darvill‘s Rip Hunter, Victor Garber‘s Martin Stein, Franz Drameh‘s Jax, Falk Hentschel‘s Hawkman, Courtney Ford‘s Nora Darhk, and last but not least, Brandon Routh‘s Ray Palmer. They also shared the reunited cast in a few new photos from the set. Sadly, it seems that Mick Rory isn’t returning as Heat Wave.

The finale will focus on Gideon, the artificial intelligence within the Waverider. Amy Pemberton will play the physical version of the character after voicing the AI since the show’s pilot. After she gets overwhelmed, the team needs to reboot her. So, the only way they can achieve this is by diving into her mind and revisit her long history with the group of unlikely time travelers. It’s a simple but great way to bring these characters back after some of them met untimely ends to save the team. Just reviving them could’ve undermined their sacrifices. As such, it’s a great way to circumvent that issue and still bring in some familiar faces.

  • Chloé Zhao’s ‘Eternals’ Closer to Jack Kirby’s Run Than That of Neil Gaiman

Chloé Zhao’s ‘Eternals’ Closer to Jack Kirby’s Run Than That of Neil Gaiman

Chloé Zhao will introduce the world to one of Marvel’s most unknown corners. We’re looking at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s origins and how the Celestials created a universe full of potential. In the earliest days of humanity, we’ll meet the ten Eternals that came to Earth. They’ll share their wisdom and protect everyone from the Deviants. Some iconic comic runs explore the story of this alien race. Somehow, we still know very little about Zhao‘s take on the characters outside of some teases, but luckily producer Nate Moore offered some insight into what they were inspired by.

Eternals, as you guys probably know, is created by Jack Kirby, 1976. The most popular run, again, I’m telling you guys the things you know, was probably the Neil Gaiman run, right? And I think that’s the expectation of this movie. We’ll probably borrow out from that. But the truth is we actually are more inspired by the Kirby stuff, so we’re kind of going back to the old stuff, both mythologically and how the movie lays out.

    Nate Moore

Moore also discussed how much they explored from Gaiman‘s run, as they feared it would seem similar to projects like Harry Potter, The Matrix, and more. So, they wanted to avoid a typical amnesia story and fully explore millennia of human history through their eyes.

So the Gaiman run, which is probably how I came to know the Eternals, frankly, outside of Sersi being in the Avengers for a little bit, it was very much about people who didn’t realize they were special and then, of course, coming and saying, ‘Hey, guess what? You guys are immortals and your memories have been erased.’ That’s pretty cool but that’s also the plot of Harry Potter, and I’m Number Four and a lot of movies like that, The Matrix, right? Whereas we thought it would be more interesting to spend the time with the characters who knew exactly who they were, and to track those characters through in our movie, what will be 7,000 years of human history

    Nate Moore

It’s great that they’re embracing how Kirby built the mythology of this franchise. Kirby explored the larger-than-life concept surrounding what the Celestials brought to the universe and how the Eternals carry on their message. The various trailers highlight that very direction, but there were rumors that they’d get amnesia at some point in time. Luckily, it seems we don’t have to worry that in the middle of the film our protagonists repeat what we witnessed earlier.

  • Hall of Murphy: Episode 6 – ‘Doom Patrol’ Episode 301 – 304

    Hall of Murphy: Episode 6 – ‘Doom Patrol’ Episode 301 – 304

After Titans and Stargirl, it is time to tackle the next DC series. Doom Patrol‘s third season has finally started and it’s time to see if it continues the momentum of the previous seasons.
