Elijah Wood Boards ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 2

Elijah Wood is set to join the cast of Showtime’s new hit series, Yellowjackets, for Season 2. The news was announced today, with the network revealing Wood will play Walter, a dedicated citizen detective who will challenge Misty (played by Christina Ricci) in ways she won’t see coming. His role is said to be a season-long guest role.

Wood joins new additions Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), who will play the adult version of Van, and Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi), who will play the adult Lottie Matthews. They will star alongside Ricci and leading lady Melanie Lynskey, who earned an Outstanding Lead Actress nomination for her work in the first season.

Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who brought Narcos to the small screen, created Yellowjackets for Showtime. The series tells the story of a team of talented high school girls soccer players who find a way to survive after their plane crashes in the northern wilderness. Yellowjackets offers a look at their will to survive, including developing savage clans, while also jumping forward 25 years to showcase how the team tries to put their lives back together only to realize the past doesn’t always stay in the past.

Production on Season 2 will begin in Vancouver later this month.

  • New ‘She-Hulk’ Ad Teases Daredevil Team-Up

New ‘She-Hulk’ Ad Teases Daredevil Team-Up

We’ve known since the second trailer that Charlie Cox will once again wear the iconic outfit from the Netflix series with some yellow additions in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Yet, it hasn’t been made clear just how he might factor into the story. There’s a chance that he and Walters are going after the same case, which leads to their superhero alter-egos also getting into contact. Now, a new trailer has been spotted with new footage making the rounds.

While the actual trailer hasn’t been released yet, it does seem to include the various quotes from the quite positive reviews for the Disney+ series. That’s not all, as it even includes a new bit of footage that teases that after meeting each other, daredevil and She-Hulk are very likely going to team up. The funny aspect is that the word “Comedy” is pulling a Mike Wazowksi on Daredevil, as most of him are covered by it.

Check out the image as shared by @SheHulkSource here:

The full trailer has now also been shared, which you can check out here:

There’s a bit of funny irony that after many worried Daredevil wouldn’t be serious enough, the latest ad just hides him behind the word “comedy.” Of course, the first episode confirmed that while it has a comedic take, it still will have its serious and more sincere moments. Plus, Cox is no stranger to making the funny or off-hand remarks as Matt Murdock. So, here’s hoping the wait isn’t too long until he shows up.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Re-Release Includes 11 Minutes of New Footage

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Re-Release Includes 11 Minutes of New Footage

It’s been a while since we first heard that the upcoming re-release of Spider-Man: No Way Home would include brand new footage. There was some controversy on this move, as many expected it as part of the Blu-ray release that was marketed quite heavily given the film’s box office success. Now, Fandango’s Erik Davis has revealed that the upcoming re-release will include 11 minutes of new footage. Tickets are expected to go on sale this Tuesday.

The film still stands at an amazing $1.8B and with this re-release, it may be Sony’s chance to get closer to that $2B. Domestically, it also pulled in $804M with only Top Gun: Maverick being the only release that can rival it in any way currently. We’ll see if this new footage is just the thing to pull in an audience besides just hardcore fans but with pre-release tickets on the horizon, we may even get a number hinting at where the film will stand.

No Way Home is definitely the film that found the perfect balance between nostalgia and strong storytelling. The return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire was handled in a way that not many projects can, which also added a lot to the project’s emotional core. Tom Holland gave his best performance in his MCU career and it’ll be exciting what else he might do in the future.

  • ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ Overtaking ‘Beast’ at Box Office

‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ Overtaking ‘Beast’ at Box Office

Beast looks to be no match for Dragon Ball Super. The Crunchyroll sequel, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, managed to pull in $4 million from Thursday night previews. That is well ahead of Universal’s Beast starring Idris Elba. That film took in $925K from 2,900 theaters.

While it remains to be seen how both films perform over the weekend, Super Hero looks like it’ll take the lead with a projected $15 million start. The film has a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive 90% and should easily overpower most of its competition this weekend. As for Beast, one of the few new releases this weekend, the film is looking at a 72% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. More importantly, though, it is expected to open in the single-digit range despite a wide opening of at least 3,700 theaters. Working in Super Hero‘s favor is that it is currently playing in Imax, 4DX, Dolby and D-box. The film also has a limited 90-day theatrical window.

Super Hero‘s preview numbers are all the more impressive when compared to Crunchyroll’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which saw $2.88 million from Thursday previews before opening with $14.8 million. It is also above Demon Slayer‘s preview earnings – $3.8 million. That title would go on to open to $21.2 million.

The only real competition Super Hero could face would be Bullet Train and Top Gun: Maverick, with the latter continuing to stay within the top five two months after release.

  • First Look at ‘She-Hulk’ Funko Pops Revealed

First Look at ‘She-Hulk’ Funko Pops Revealed

The tradition continues as with each new episode of a Marvel disney+ show, or any Disney+ show to be fair, we also get a batch of new Funko Pops. With She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘s release, we have our new batch of characters and it’s quite the collection. Not only do Jennifer Walters and Nikki Ramos get their own Funkos, but so did the returning Hulk. It is rather surprising that they aren’t including one for She-Hulk, the character in the title of the series.

What also stands out is that the outfit worn by Hulk isn’t actually yin the premiere episode. So, it might actually be a tease for something he wears at a later point in the story. Perhaps he gets the chance to put on this new jumpsuit as he takes on an unexpected foe. With the return of Emil Blonsky’s Abomination, who knows if he might end up back to his old ways after all.

It seems like we’ll have to wait until we can get our hands on a She-Hulk Funko, but there’s a chance that they have a second wave already planned ahead of the next episode’s release. Of course, we still have eight more episodes heading our way, which will give us enough opportunity to get our hands on some new Funkos for our collections.

  • ‘Black Sails’ Actor Joins Netflix’s ‘One Piece’

‘Black Sails’ Actor Joins Netflix’s ‘One Piece’

It looks like many One Piece actors are slowly updating their CVs with the latest show. While any official announcements have been quite seldom, it does seem that the site Pursch Artistes has updated quite a few of its actors’ resumes. Just recently we found out that Warrior actor Grant Ross is tackling the role of Genzo and now another one can be added to the list.

As first shared by @OP_Netflix_Fan on Twitter, it seems that Tamer Burjaq has updated his CV confirming he’s working on the One Piece series. Not only that, but he also revealed that he’s taking on the role of Higuma. The actor has quite the resume which includes DREDD 3D, Dark Tower, Black Sails, Tomb Raider, and many more.

In the case of who exactly Higuma is, the character isn’t a major player in the One Piece story but definitely a memorable one. He’s technically the first villain that Luffy faces in his youth, as he’s a mountain bandit that ends up in a fight with Shanks. Of course, we don’t know if the live-action adaptation may make some tweaks or changes to the original introduction of the character, but with the confirmation of a young Luffy in the cast, we’ll very likely get the iconic Romance Dawn flashback.

There is some confusing information included, which is the fact that it hints that director Emma Sullivan is involved with the episode that includes the actor. At this point, it seems like they may have defaulted with the director, as it was hinted that she’s involved with two episodes. At this point, she’d be directing an Arlong Park episode, Baratie, and even Syrup Village. For now, we’ll have to see once more information finds its way online.

  • Idris Elba Teases Mystery Project With Marvel

Idris Elba Teases Mystery Project With Marvel

Idris Elba might still have a future with Marvel. The actor, who has played Asgardian warrior Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011’s Thor, was thought to have exited the franchise when his character died valiantly in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. However, a surprise post-credits cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder revealed Heimdall still exists in the halls of Valhalla and has renewed interest from fans in seeing Elba take on the role again.

Speaking with SyFy in support of his new movie Beast, the multifaceted performer was asked about the potential of a return to Marvel after Phase 4. While Elba has leaned more towards the DC side of the aisle in recent years, he wasn’t quick to deny a future with Heimdall. Instead, the actor hinted that there may be a new project in the works that would see him wear the golden helmet once more:

Heimdall is a beloved character, I love playing him. There may be something cooking.

    Idris Elba

When asked to elaborate on what he meant, Elba shied away. However, he still left a lot of room for interpretation with his response:

I don’t know, I would tell you if I did. Well, probably not…

    Idris Elba

The last time audiences saw Heimdall, he was welcoming Jane Foster to the afterlife. There is a recent comic book run by writer Jason Aaron that features those two characters adventuring from beyond the grave, so perhaps Kevin Feige and the folks at Marvel Studios will find space in their busy schedule to make an adaptation happen.

    Beast is now in theaters.

  • ‘Shitt’s Creek’ Actor Joins ‘Sex Education’ Season 4

‘Shitt’s Creek’ Actor Joins ‘Sex Education’ Season 4

As the upcoming fourth season of Sex Education is seemingly losing a few veteran actors, it has seemingly added seven new faces to the dramedy. Among them is the big reveal that Shitt’s Creek‘s Dan Levy will have a role in the series. He’ll join Thaddea Graham, Marie Reuther, as well as newcomers Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Imani Yahshua, and Alexandra James.

The Hollywood Reporter has also shared a first look that features the returning Asa Butterfield and Mimi Keene in the upcoming fourth season. there’s also an image of Dan Levy as well as Emma Mackey.

Four cast members have left the project, which includes Tanya Reynolds, Patricia Allison, Simone Ashley, and Rahkee Thakrar. The story will continue where the third season left the cast-off, as Moordale Secondary was closed. The following description was shared for the new season that hints at what exactly is happening in the fourth season.

Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier — their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, while Eric is praying they won’t be losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students — they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level. There’s daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being … kind?! Viv is totally thrown by the college’s student-led, non-competitive approach, while Jackson is still struggling to get over Cal. Aimee tries something new by taking an Art A Level and Adam grapples with whether mainstream education is for him. Over in the U.S., Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy. Otis is pining after her, while adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus.

Levy will take on the role of Thomas, a U.S. tutor at an Ivy League college. The roles for the rest of the new additions have not been shared yet.

  • HBO Max Seemingly Removed 200+ ‘Sesame Street’ Episodes

HBO Max Seemingly Removed 200+ ‘Sesame Street’ Episodes

At this point, it feels like any news or discovery surrounding HBO Max leads to some rather dark realization about what exactly is happening with Warner Bros. Discovery. There was a laundry list of shows that were pulled from the service, such as Aquaman: King of Atlantis, Infinity Train, and even Elmo’s Not-Too-Late Show. As it turns out, that wasn’t all that was removed.

As uncovered by Tough Pigs, it seems that around 200 Sesame Street episodes were quietly removed from the service. According to their research, it seems that 250 legacy episodes were removed from the streaming service. They share that 29 episodes from the first 38 seasons still remain on the service.

The service was the home of the largest amount of Sesame Street episodes. The whole point of streaming services was to offer an archived home for iconic franchises, TV Shows, and movies that people want to revisit. Sesame Street has quite the legacy and having access to the series is perfect for those seeking the nostalgia to share with their kids.

Warner Bros. Discovery is pulling a lot from HBO Max, which was revealed to save money on tax and residuals. They’ve outright taken shows down but removing the episode opens up even more questions on what exactly the point is. If they aren’t trying to keep these shows for a later release on the new combined streaming service. At this point, there’s a discussion

  • ‘She-Hulk’ Head Writer on Jennifer Walters’ Future in the MCU

‘She-Hulk’ Head Writer on Jennifer Walters’ Future in the MCU

With the debut of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest superhero has been introduced into the franchise. As the final Disney+ series of the MCU’s Phase 4, plenty of fans are curious where Jennifer Walters could be headed in Marvel Studios’ explosive Phases 5 and 6.

Recently, Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner aka the Hulk, stated that “there’s not going to be another Avengers without [She-Hulk],” suggesting that the new hero will be a consistent presence in future films like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Now, She-Hulk head writer Jessica Gao has further emphasized the likelihood of Jen appearing in those two Avengers films. When asked on Deadline’s Hero Nation Podcast if She-Hulk would appear in Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars, Gao said:

I would be shocked if they didn’t start putting her in the movies, especially the group team-up movies.

    Jessica Gao

Of course, even the series’ head writer’s comments are no guarantee of She-Hulk’s future in the MCU, as creators are notoriously kept in the dark about the future of their characters beyond the current project. Gao explained her approach to making one season of a show while knowing that the superhero may have a larger future down the road:

Coming from television, you can never guarantee that you’re going to get another season with a first season show. So it’s kind of been trained into my head that, on a first-season show, you really have to tell a complete story that you’d be satisfied with if this is only a one-and-done. Just because there’s never a guarantee, you just never know if you’re going to get another season, so you can’t really hold back and just leave things open-ended. You do have to tell some sort of satisfying arc in one season just in case, and then of course you leave the door open for possibilities for a second, third, and fourth season. So that was kind of my mental approach to it.
