    Disney+’s ‘Willow’ Series Adds ‘Game of Thrones’ Rosabell Laurenti Sellers

    We haven’t heard much on Disney+’s upcoming series Willow. Lucasfilm is reviving the 1980 fantasy classic and has assembled quite the cast. The story will feature a princess that assembles a group of heroes to help her rescue her twin brother. Warwick Davis returns in the iconic role and will be joined by Tony Revolori, Amer Chadha-Patel, Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, and Erin Kellyman. Now, it seems that they are joining another fantasy alum in the form of Game of Thrones‘ Rosabell Laurenti Sellers.

    Not much is stated about her character besides the statement that she’ll play someone who is a “resourceful character with shape, acerbic wit.” The actress made her big splash playing Tyene Sand on the HBO series. She also appeared on Mia and Me, Spides, and joined John Travolta in the drama Trading Point. She’s also set to appear in What About Love, where she’ll star opposite Sharon Stone and Andy Garcia.

    It’s great to see Disney+ revive some cult classics by also giving them a new life. It’ll be interesting to see if they’ll include any callbacks to the original Willow outside of it being a direct continuation. We got a tease during Disney+ Day that was mostly just from the staff while Warwick roasted the younger cast members. It was a great tease as they just started production at the time.

    RUMOR: ‘Among Us VR’ May Be Eyeing a November Release

    There’s nothing like a game that lets you stab your friends in the back and lie to them just like Among Us. What started with a quiet release would grow into one of the biggest games of the last year. Then, it was announced back in December that the hit game was getting the virtual reality treatment. We haven’t heard much since but it looks like the game might finally have a release date due to a posting on SteamDB.

    For those that might be wondering what SteamDB is: it is simply a reporting tool that takes information from the online storefront of Steam, posts all of the information uploaded to the service, and lists it in a handy database for us to view. The site has consistently posted pretty reliable information, from unknown release dates to unknown games. Ever since it launched, the service has been giving tidbits to gamers for years now.

    Found in the files recently was a listing for Among Us VR with a release date of November 10, 2022. The game has made huge waves in gaming, going from a small indie game ready to release a second title, and ending up as an expanding love service that was able to find success on PC, Consoles, and Mobile. The game is ripe for VR content, between its simple concept to its “keeping you busy” type tasks, the game should certainly translate to VR.

    Among Us might be one of the biggest surprise hits in gaming history. As a result of an uptick in content creators playing the game during the pandemic, the game went from being almost a write-off to a very successful property. The game, toys, and even online media have made the IP grow exponentially, and with VR continuing to grow, especially with the likes of the Meta Quest 2 and PSVR2, I feel the game will certainly have a long life in VR.

    RUMOR: ‘She-Hulk’ Streaming Debut Facing Indefinite Delay

    Just as word comes that star Tatiana Maslany has put together a “jaw-dropping” performance as Jennifer Walters in the upcoming Disney Plus streaming series She-Hulk, a new rumor has surfaced that indicates it might be a while before fans get to judge for themselves.

    While the streaming series has never really had an official date outside of “sometime in 2022”, a previously reliable source of information has surfaced again, this time suggesting that it’ll be late 2022 or even early 2023 before She-Hulk hits the streaming service. While the post doesn’t give details as to why it’ll be another half year or so before we see it, it can be inferred from other information in the post that the delay could be due to VFX work taking a little longer than expected.

    Whenever She-Hulk does stream, it’s expected to be a 9-episode series of 30-minute episodes and to be heavily comedic in nature. Maslany will be joined by MCU vets Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth and newcomers Ginger Gonzaga, Renee Elise Goldsberry, and Jameela Jamil, who will portray Titania. Marvel Studios has not commented on any official release ate for the series.

    Maisie Williams on a Potential Return as Arya Stark in a ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoff

    HBO and WarnerMedia have been ambitious with their expansion of the Game of Thrones franchise. Later this year, we’ll see the release of House of the Dragons, which explores the time the Targaryen ruled over Westeros long before the Mad King’s fall would lead to all-out war across the country. O course, that isn’t the only project that’s in the pipeline, as they hope to build an entire franchise built around the many eras of these book series.

    Now, it seems that one of the stars of the original Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams, has shared her thoughts in an interview with CQ on potentially returning to the franchise as Arya Stark. While some may want to leave it behind, it seems that she’d be quite open to returning but there’s a catch.

    I’m not saying it would never happen, but I’m also not saying it in this interview so that everyone goes… [gasps] ‘The spin-off! It’s coming!’ Because it’s not. It has to be the right time and the right people. It has to be right in the context of all the other spin-offs and the universe of Game of Thrones. […] It has to be the right time for me.

    You can see her experience with these kinds of inquiries, as she’s not confirming anything, but wants to share her thoughts on a potential return. If someone pitches her the right concept, it seems she’d welcome it with open arms to once again return to the franchise and continue Arya Stark’s tower.

    ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Officially Rated PG-13

    While it should come as no surprise, the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been officially given a PG-13 rating by the Motion Picture Association. While there was little question that the Doctor Strange sequel would match the rating of the rest of the current MCU, fans excited for the promised horror elements of the Sam Raimi-direct film might be pleased with the MPA’s reasoning for the rating. The MPA cites “intense sequences of violence and action, frightening images and some language.”

    The notes of “intense sequences of violence and action” and “some language” are fairly standard for MCU movies, but the mention of “frightening images” further confirms Marvel Studios’ promise that Multiverse of Madness will be the MCU’s first horror film and that Raimi’s unique style indeed remained a major part of the final cut.

    In the past, few questioned the PG-13 model of the MCU. However, as new characters start to be introduced—such as Deadpool or Blade—demands for R-rated and more mature content has increased. At the same time, the MCU is set to debut its first non-PG-13 project with Ms. Marvel, which has been given a TV-PG rating for its Disney+ residency. Director Sam Raimi is also no stranger to PG-13 horror films, such as his 2009 film Drag Me to Hell, which proved that you don’t require an R-rating to offer the right horror vibes for a story.

    Tim Roth Has High Praise for ‘She-Hulk’s Tatiana Maslany is “Jaw-Dropping” in the Disney+ Series

    It’s been a quiet day, but a new interview from ET Canada has found its way online. In it, Tim Roth gets to share some aspects of his work on the upcoming Disney+ series, She-Hulk. As he gets a chance to return as Abomination once again, he shared his thoughts on the upcoming series. Yet, he had some high praise for fellow co-star Tatiana Maslany, who he describes as “amazing” and “jaw-dropping.”

    She’s amazing. It’s actually jaw-dropping. I was just watching on a day-to-day level. Sometimes dialogue lands just on that level […]. Her ability to absorb and then perform was quite remarkable. And she’s funny. One of the signs of a good actor is their comedic touch and she has it in spades.

    It certainly sounds promising, and as she’ll become a big player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward, she may become an anchor of the franchise. It’s exciting to generally see what she has to offer and given the series’ comedic direction, it does seem promising if he highlights her “comedic touch.”

    We’re still anxiously waiting for a trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder but it’ll also be quite exciting to see what She-Hulk’s first trailer might have to offer. We’ll likely not see anything until around the time that Ms. Marvel releases, but it’s going to be exciting once we get our first glimpses of the new series.

    First Look at New Comic-Inspired ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Promo Art

    Thor: Love and Thunder’s trailer is still nowhere to be seen, but we’re still getting a few glimpses of the film from some promo art and merchandise that is finding its way online. So, we may still have to wait a little longer for some actual footage, but @lovethundernews has uncovered some more promotional material for the film with a comic-inspired cover that features Thor alongside Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor.

    They aren’t alone, as the comic cover also includes Valkyrie and Korg. We even get a tease of Thor’s two goats that behind-the-scenes set photos revealed would be joining the upcoming production. It certainly looks like we’ll get to spend some time with Tanngrisnir and Tanngrnjostr in the upcoming film if they are heavily featured in the promotional material.

    For now, the merchandise is the only thing carrying us over until we actually get our first look of both in action. Gorr is noticeably absent from all merchandise, which means they are mainly focusing on the heroes for most of the promotional material. Of course, he was included in the Marvel Legends leak but that was our only real look at him so far.

    Still, it’s a great design and comic-inspired designs were always a great addition to merchandise. It’s great to see Korg get a stronger focus, as he was a stand-out character in Thor: Ragnarok. We’ll see if he has a bigger role in the upcoming film and how his life has been since King Valkyrie took over.

    Takashi Doscher to Write ‘Ghost of Tsushima’s Screenplay

    The Ghost of Tsushima film continues to make progress at Sony Pictures. The game was an instant hit, selling more than 8 million units to date. The IP was fast-tracked to be adapted as a film due to the success which was supported by Sony’s large desire to bring more PlayStation franchises to the big screen. With Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank being the first franchises to get films, they are soon going to follow up with The Last of Us as an HBO series.

    Ghost of Tsushima is a samurai adventure game with heavy inspiration from classic samurai films, making it a perfect franchise to adapt to film. It is currently in production at PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures, which recently tapped Takashi Doscher to pen the screenplay. The writer recently finished Blue, which is still in production. His debut film Still can be found on Hulu today.

    With Doscher‘s writing, we now have a pretty good idea of the creative talent producing the film. Chad Stahelski (John Wick) is set to direct. His action and combat scenes, largely considered to be a modern evolution of the genre, should translate well to a samurai action film. So, we might see a great combination of its Akira Kurosawa-inspired roots with a modern twist.

    Developed by Sucker Punch Studios, Ghost of Tsushima became one of PlayStation’s most successful IPs practically overnight. The game went on to win multiple awards, including the Player’s Voice award at The Game Awards, an annual award show that celebrates the year in gaming. You can currently check out Ghost of Tsushima, as well as its Iki Island DLC on PS5 and PS4.

    Gearbox’s Parent Company Embracer Group Plans to Continue Acquisition Spree

    The acquisition wars in the gaming industry continue. In a new norm where IP and top-tier studios are being snatched up like candy on Halloween, it seems no independent studio is safe anymore. Microsoft and Sony are certainly the big players in the space currently, and they definitely aren’t the only ones trying to expand. Take-Two recently purchased mobile game company Zynga for $12.7 billion, Netflix has purchased two studios in the last month, and Embracer Group has completed over 60 acquisitions, big and large, since 2020.

    As it stands, Embracer Group has spent more than $8 billion on acquisitions. This is noteworthy as a brand most people have never heard of has suddenly become one of the biggest players in gaming today. Between Gearbox Software (Borderlands), Deep Silver (Saints Row), THQ Nordic (Destroy All Humans), and Saber Interactive (World War Z, Witcher 3), the holding company has managed to secure some of the most recognized AA studios in existence.

    Not only that, but they also have managed to acquire some big-name IP that will certainly bolster their portfolio. While they won’t own The Witcher 3 as Saber was just a port house for the project, they did secure Borderlands, one of the largest IPs in gaming today. The CEO of the company recently said that this wasn’t the end. Lars Wingefors has said in an interview that he plans to make a similar number of acquisitions in the upcoming months and years.

    While the company continues to look at the gaming industry for new opportunities, game studios aren’t the only companies the group has looked at. Embracer recently bought Dark Horse Comics for an undisclosed sum. So while any studio may be in the crosshairs, Embracer is definitely diversifying its portfolio, meaning your favorite studios may be able to hold out for now.

    ‘Isle of the Dead’ Spinoff is One of Many Pitched Maggie and Negan Spinoffs

    The Walking Dead continues to grow its potential with various new spinoff series in some form of production. There’s an anthology series on its way titled The Tales of the Walking Dead, and we also got the confirmation of one titled Isle of the Dead. This series caught everyone by surprise as it’ll focus on Lauren Cohan‘s Maggie joining forces with Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s Negan.

    In an interview with Comicbook.com, Cohan reveals that they went through quite a few ideas before they landed on the current version. It seems that they definitely wanted to further explore the dynamic between Maggie and Negan, which has certainly changed since Morgan joined the show in quite a memorable introduction.

    I know there have always been three, maybe four options for how Maggie would end up in a spinoff. For Maggie or Negan there’s been a bunch of ideas floating around. I think this story that Eli Jorne came up with, which is what we’ll be shooting for season one of Isle of the Dead, was just really powerful and such an interesting way for fans to get to see these characters continue.

    The spinoff will explore the two characters exploring what is left of Manhattan, as it became cut off from the mainland and is now filled with a horde of Walkers. It’ll be interesting to see what exactly leads them to explore Manhattan and how they end up surviving a horde of Walkers that are just waiting for some fresh meat.
