Four years ago, Kevin Feige rolled out an ambitious plan to release two Avengers films within the span of six months in. To absolutely nobody’s surprise, as the studio struggled to find its footing with its Multiverse Saga, 2025 came and went without one, much less two, Avengers film hitting theaters. Now, as the Multiverse Saga accelerates toward its end, fans have finally seen a full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday and the studio is preparing for production on Avengers: Secret Wars.
Despite the studio’s commitment to reducing its streaming and theatrical content and its desire to put its second Saga to bed, rumors and speculation about Marvel splitting the story of Secret Wars into two films have been prominent for some time. Inserting a “secret” third Avengers film would ensure that the studio would own the box office for 12-18 months; however, Marvel’s One Above All has ruled out such a possibility.
During an interview with Josh Horowitz, Kevin Feige was asked if there was a world in which Avengers:Secret Wars would be split into two films…and he gave a very definitive answer: “Not this world.“
While that technically does not rule out the possibility of a third Avengers film hitting theaters in the next 18 months (it just means it wouldn’t be Avengers: Secret Wars-Part II), the truth is that Feige–much like the fans–seems to be eager to move onto the next Saga and leave the Multiverse behind.
