Following Disney’s Investor Day presentation on December 10th, Marvel Studios officially released a short synopsis for its 25th feature film, 2021’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. The film, which is currently set to release next summer, will see Shang-Chi, played by Simu Liu, “confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”
Marvel Studios also officially revealed additional casting for the film. While Tony Leung and Awkwafina were previously announced by the studio, their characters have been unveiled as Wenwu and Katy, respectively. Fala Chen, who Lizzie Hill previously speculated would be joining the film as Leiko Wu, will play Jiang Li. Florian Munteanu (Creed 2) will be playing notable comics villain Razor Fist, Meng’er Zhang will be playing Xialing, Ronny Chieng will be playing Jon Jon and Michelle Yeoh will be playing Jiang Nan; as is the case with Chen’s character, these characters seem to be either original characters or characters whose names have been significantly changed from the comics.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will hit theaters on July 9th, 2021.
