  • Michael Shannon Joins The Cast of ‘The Flash’

Michael Shannon Joins The Cast of ‘The Flash’

The MCU’s multiverse blew up this year thanks to Loki, What If…?, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and soon, the DCEU will follow suit with The Flash. While characters like Supergirl and Michael Keaton‘s Batman are expected to return, one particular villain is set to make an unexpected appearance as well. The official Warner Bros. listing of the film has Michael Shannon as one of its cast members. This likely means we’ll be seeing more of General Zod.

Zod won’t be the only evil Kryptonian making a return as Faora-Ul, played by Ante Traue, is listed next to Shannon as well. Their return bodes for some interesting problems Ezra Miller‘s Barry Allen will have to face. Perhaps we could see a variation of the events of Man of Steel, through the eyes of a time-traveling Barry Allen. Maybe there’s an Earth where Zod and his army successfully terraform our planet.

  • Oscars’ Visual Effects Shortlist Includes ‘Shang-Chi’, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ And More

Oscars’ Visual Effects Shortlist Includes ‘Shang-Chi’, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ And More

It looks like the shortlists have found their way online and Marvel Studios is dominating the Visual Effects category for the upcoming Oscars. Keep in mind, these are not the actual nominations, which won’t follow until January 27th until February 1st. The final announcement for the Oscars will follow on Tuesday, February 8th. As of now, Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as Spider-Man: No Way Home are all up for the category.

No Way Home may have a good shot this year given its massive success and cultural relevance, especially during the pandemic. The competition is fierce with 20th Century Studios’ Free Guy, Sony’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, MGM’s No Time to Die, Warner Bros.’ Dune, The Matrix Resurrection, and Godzilla vs. Kong. It’s once again very noticeable that this category is mainly dominated by blockbuster releases.

The latest Spider-Man entry has also entered the shortlist for the Sound nomination alongside big hitters like West Side Story, and Tick, Tick … Boom!, who might have the best chances given their respective musical foundation. Jon M. Chu‘s In the Heights is surprisingly absent though. DC also has gained some attention with The Suicide Squad nabbing a spot in the Makeup and Hairstyling part, which ironically its predecessor won back in 2017. So, we’ll see if it has the same chances.

  • ‘The Batman’s Robert Pattinson Mapped Out Bruce Wayne’s Story for at Least Two Sequels

‘The Batman’s Robert Pattinson Mapped Out Bruce Wayne’s Story for at Least Two Sequels

It’s clear to everyone that Matt Reeves has big plans for his take on the Dark Knight. The Batman will introduce the world to a new take on the iconic vigilante, as the director already mapped out multiple spinoffs. In the latest Empire magazine, Dylan Clark confirms that they have ambitious dreams in an interview to “lay a foundation that you can build stories upon” as the first entry will be quite the standalone experience. It seems that its main star, Robert Pattinson, is in for the long run due to having planned out Bruce Wayne’s emotional story arc throughout multiple films.

I’ve made a kind of map for where Bruce’s psychology would grow over two more movies. I would love to do it.

    Robert Pattinson

It’s unclear how long they want to have this take on the DC hero to go for, but a trilogy seems like something Reeves probably already mapped out. If they are already developing spinoff series for HBO Max, we can assume with good consciousness that Warner Bros. is all in with this new take on the Dark Knight, even as they still continue to expand the DC Extended Universe. So, we’ll see what the future holds for the Caped Crusader.

  • Robert Pattinson’s ‘Good Time’ Performance Landed Him ‘The Batman’

Robert Pattinson’s ‘Good Time’ Performance Landed Him ‘The Batman’

The Batman will feature the debut of Robert Pattinson as the iconic Dark Knight. Fans are dying to see his performance as the character, as his take looks to be drastically different than anything we’ve seen before. The actor has grown tremendously as an actor since his Twilight days with films like The Lighthouse, Tenet, High Life, The King, and Good Time.

Director Matt Reeves recently sat down with Empire Magazine for the 2022 film preview where he dove into what inspired him for this take on Bruce Wayne. the director also shared how Pattinson‘s performance in Benny and Josh Safdie’s Good Time landed him the role of Batman.

In that movie you could really feel his vulnerability and desperation, but you could also feel his power.I thought that was a great mix. He’s also got that Kurt Cobain thing, where he looks like a rock star, but you also feel like he could be a recluse.

    Matt Reeves

Reeves casting in the film is something that’s garnered a lot of attention. And his source of inspiration is certainly something that might offer people some insight into what he will bring to the table. Pattinson‘s performance in Good Time is definitely one fan anticipating the upcoming release of The Batman should check, amongst his other projects and roles.

The Batman is currently set to release in theaters on March 4th, 2022 with Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrel, Andy Serkis, Barry Keoghan, Jayme Lawson, Peter Sarsgaard, and John Turturro starring alongside Pattinson.

  • ‘Batgirl’ To Film Exteriors in Glasgow in January

‘Batgirl’ To Film Exteriors in Glasgow in January

Warner Brothers and the DC Universe have seemingly found a nice home for Gotham City in Glasgow, where multiple films have now made it their go-to location for filming. Both The Batman and The Flash have used Glasgow as the setting for Gotham city, and the upcoming Batgirl film is now also filming in the city, and it seems we may be getting our first look at the film very soon.

Back in August, it was confirmed that Batgirl would, indeed, be filming in Glasgow, sometime in November, with production eventually kicking off following the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s now being reported that the film will be shooting exterior shots beginning January 5th and continuing to the 25th. Production will be filming around the Trongate entrance for a good duration of the month.

The most likely scenario here is that we get our very first look at the film, aside from the concept art shown at Fandome. The first look will most likely come in the form of set photos taken by passerby fans or paparazzi. We got quite a lot of set photos and videos for TheFlash and The Batman during their time filming exteriors in the city, with both giving us our first look at Pattinson’s Batman and Affleck’s return.

Batgirl will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah with Leslie Grace set to star as the titular heroine. Grace will be joined by J.K. Simmons, Brendan Fraser, and Jacob Scipio. The film currently has no set release date.

  • RUMOR: Henry Winkler Will Play Al Pratt in ‘Black Adam’

RUMOR: Henry Winkler Will Play Al Pratt in ‘Black Adam’

Legacy is an important aspect in the DC universe, with many of today’s most prominent characters like The Flash and Green Lantern picking up mantles from previous iterations. The Justice Society of America is where it all started, with many characters being new iterations of previous characters like Hourman, Dr.Mid-Nite, Doctor Fate, Starman, and Atom Smasher. A while back it was reported that the film would indeed feature the original Atom, and a founding member of the JSA, Al Pratt. It seems that was indeed true and we’ve now got a face to put to the name.

It’s being reported that the Fonz himself has joined the cast of The Rock’s highly-anticipated DCEU debut in Black Adam. Henry Winkler will reportedly play Al Pratt, the first Atom and a veteran hero in the DCEU. Pratt was reported to play an uncle-type role to Albert Rothstein, the newest Atom Smasher. In the comics, Albert was the godson of Pratts wife, Mary James. Albert will reportedly don Al’s original Atom suit in the film, as he suits up for the first time as a recruit under Hawkman and Doctor Fate for the newest incarnation of the Justice Society of America.

Noah Centineo will play Albert Rothstein, aka Atom Smasher alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as Black Adam, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindel as Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz in Black Adam. The film is currently set to release in theaters on July 29th, 2022.

  • RUMOR: Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt Will Appear in ‘Black Adam’

RUMOR: Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt Will Appear in ‘Black Adam’

Just as we thought the DC extended universe would be moving into a disconnected universe, it seems to be becoming more connected than ever before. It’s been previously reported that Gal Gadot would be reprising her role as Wonder Woman in Shazam: Fury of The Gods and now it seems a rather recent addition to the DCEU will be returning much sooner than expected.

It is being reported that Jennifer Holland will be reprising her role as Emilia Harcourt in Black Adam. Holland recently made her DCEU debut in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad in which she worked with Amanda Waller on Task Force X. The character will return again and in just a few weeks with Peacemaker, following the post-credit scene at the tail end of The Suicide Squad in which as a punishment, Waller stuck both her and John Economos with him on an all-new top-secret mission.

Details on her role are a bit scarce but it said that she will play a minor role in the film towards the end, and will reportedly recruit a character for an unknown team of some kind. What happens in Peacemaker with the character will be what sends her on a new path and why she ends up in Black Adam. More and better interconnectivity between the DCEU films is something fans have been dying for to see the universe really pulled together.

  • ‘Wonder Woman 3’ Eyeing 2023 Production Start

‘Wonder Woman 3’ Eyeing 2023 Production Start

Wonder Woman has become a staple in the DCEU, and possibly its most popular character alongside Harley Quinn. The character will be the first to finish out a trilogy of films within the cinematic universe as the announcement of a third entry came right after Wonder Woman 1984‘s release. Not much is known about the third film, aside from the fact that Patty Jenkins will return to write and direct the film. Gal Gadot once again will reprise her role of Diana Prince, of course. With both having such packed schedules, it looks like it’s gonna be a second before cameras are rolling on the threequel.

News broke today via Deadline that Patty Jenkins would be shifting from director to producer on Gadot‘s upcoming film Cleopatra, with Kari Skogland set to pick up the reigns on the project. Sources close to Deadline said this move was made with the intention for Jenkins to continue developing the next installment in the Wonder Woman franchise as it had been fast-tracked by Warner Brothers. Deadline also has revealed that the third Wonder Woman film is currently set to begin production sometime in 2023, with no concrete date set just yet.

Gadot‘s backed-up schedule includes not only Cleopatra but also the upcoming live-action adaption of Snow White at Disney. Plot details for Wonder Woman 3 are still under wraps as Jenkins finishes off the script for the film, but we hope to hear more in the near future and hopefully see the film embrace the character’s roots in mythology that’s been a bit absent since her debut.
