Zack Snyder Reveals ‘Justice League’ Sequel Plans

We covered an exhibit that offered our first look at the Knightmare designs of various characters for the upcoming HBO Max release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It showcased Mera, Deathstroke, and Cyborg in their designs that didn’t make it into the original release. He originally planned to split up his project into multiple films that would tell a complete story. Luckily, it seems that Snyder has revealed his initial plans for the film’s sequel in the same gallery, where he showcased suits from the production. @accidentallydan was kind enough to share the images that give us a closer look at the initial plans.

The images were taken down, so here are a few we were able to save:

It seems that Lex Luthor’s League of Doom has always been on the table. It would’ve been amazing seeing the team face Dr. Maru, Captain Cold, Orm, Black Manta, and Riddler. The sequel was going to end on a cliffhanger for a third entry in the franchise. It would pick up in the aftermath of the first, as they go their separate ways. The heroes try to live their lives, as Luthor enacts his plans in the shadows. They would face these villains that would slowly reveal what Luthor was up to. He wants to summon Darkseid back to conquer Earth.

There are quite a few details that we don’t want to spoil here. So, you can check out the thread above to get a full look at the sequel plans. Interestingly, the 2017 version does end with the Legion of Doom tease, which was part of the original plan. Sadly, it seems that Warner Bros. has no interest in continuing to build on it, as they start refocusing on reboots. It is great to see Jim Lee’s artwork bring the concepts to life. Hopefully, there is a chance we may get an adaptation of them at some point, even if it is in comic or animated form.

  • First Look at ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s Knightmare Deathstroke and Cyborg

First Look at ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s Knightmare Deathstroke and Cyborg

In almost two weeks, fans will be able to sit down and experience what the 2017 film was originally supposed to be. The film will include all new and never-before-seen footage from director Zack Snyder‘s original vision. One of the most elusive parts of Snyder‘s DC films was the mysterious Knightmare timeline. In it, Superman had fallen to the anti-life equation and was turned into an agent of Apokolips. It would lead to Darkseid’s conquest of Earth. We got our first look at the timeline in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. It gave us a brief glimpse of Batman’s rebellion before he was thwarted by Superman’s soldiers and Parademons. It looks as if the story will continue in the upcoming film, as a new gallery of the Justice League has offered us a closer look at the Knightmare designs.

The images above give us our first look at Knightmare Cyborg. It is shocking to see him in one piece with his armor malformed and rocky. It also seems as if his lights have gone off at some point, but this could be due to the figurine. He also is wearing a brown cloak, which he probably uses to hide his robotic body.

The next photos from the gallery feature our first look at Mera from this timeline. She is now wielding a trident and has presumably taken the place of Aquaman in the resistance. If you look closer, you can see that she is wielding a Parademon rifle as well. There is also the reveal of a worn-out Deathstroke armor that is covered in sand. We also get a closer look at Jared Leto‘s Joker, reprising the role for the first time since Suicide Squad back in 2016. This Joker seems to be dressed on a surgical gown of sorts, with a kevlar vest covered in bloody police badges, as well as his signature gun, featured in Suicide Squad.

The gallery includes a variety of other costumes, such as the Flash costume that we briefly saw in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We’re eager to see where the Knightmare sequence takes the story, and how this motley crew came together. Former enemies putting aside their feud for a chance at a better future. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will begin streaming globally on March 18th exclusively on HBO Max.

  • ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Has Awoken in New Teaser

‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Has Awoken in New Teaser

We are only a few weeks away from the highly anticipated release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It has been a long road until the famous Snyder Cut would finally get released. The first trailer gave us a look at what we missed out on in 2017’s version by Joss Whedon. Now, Snyder can unveil his original vision, which includes the appearance of Darkseid, his original design of Steppenwolf, and the Knightmare sequence. The 4-hour film will be an event that no one wants to miss on HBO Max. To celebrate its release on March 18th, Warner Bros. has released a brand new design that highlights the epic tale we are about to jump into.

Snyder is talented, especially when it comes to visuals, so this showcase highlights the spectacle the upcoming film will represent. Some great details highlight the different members of the Justice League. Aquaman sits on a throne wrapped by tentacles as if he took down a beast to show his strength, while Batman to his beliefs. If you take a closer look at the grave teased before Bruce Wayne, you might notice that the gravestone has Richard Grayson’s name on it, which finally answers that questions.

Cyborg has the Mother Box’s energy beating out of him to showcase his close ties to them. The idea of using the storyline’s focus as the backdrop for the characters is a fantastic visual and unique way to promote the film. It will be quite the experience once it releases and finally gives us the vision he always wanted to reveal.

  • ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’: Zack Snyder’s Unusual Shot Composition May End up Being the Right Choice

‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’: Zack Snyder’s Unusual Shot Composition May End up Being the Right Choice

By now most of us are already familiar with what an IMAX movie screen provides to the cinematic experience. These screens are much bigger than usual ones, with an aspect ratio that brings them closer to the 4:3 ratio found in old CRT televisions, moving away from the wider ratios cinemas became accustomed to. Over the years with the advancing IMAX technology, IMAX cameras became both smaller and cheaper allowing directors to use them more often, up to the point where we got entire feature films where only such cameras were used.

But the main thing with the format isn’t the aspect ratio, it’s the size of the frame/screen itself. The point was to allow for an image of such size that, aided by the steeper angle in which the seats are arranged, the audience would undergo a much more immersive experience as its field of view would be completely occupied by the image being projected. But this would also mean that, as audiences wouldn’t be able to properly keep up with the entirety of the screen, the edges (and especially the upper and lower ones) shouldn’t contain crucial information to the scene as it could end up being lost to the viewer. This way, when framing a shot, one should take all of this into consideration to allow for the best possible viewing experience, and not having to ask the audience to keep tracking a screen so big in its entirety in search of vital story details.

Snyder explaining how he’s composed shots to go beyond the usual boundaries.

But Zack Snyder, while using such a tall aspect ratio, had a different approach when composing Justice League shots. He decided to use every square inch of the frame to tell his story, including placing crucial information to the story both front and center as well as in the edges of the frame. If this was to be a regular theatrical release one might argue that this would be an ill-usage of the IMAX format, as having such an action-packed movie asking the viewers to keep up with so much information, on such a large screen, might prove too much. But the circumstances dictated that Snyder’s cut would end up being released through HBO Max, and audiences will now have to experience the feature film in their own homes, through their TVs. This means that the screen size has been considerably downgraded, and having information scattered throughout its entirety suddenly becomes a non-issue. In fact, it might even add to the experience since, by using both the upper and lower edges of the screen to their full potential, you are now reaching the home-theater audiences in a much more engaging way. If the shot composition was less on the unusual side, when adapting the material to the small screen you could always, as many do, cut the image without leaving out important material to the story, but that would mean that, in this case, people wouldn’t get to enjoy the shots to their fullest since there was no usual theatrical run to go with the home media release.

This way, a creative choice that seemed to deviate from the norm (and not in the best way), might end up proving itself as the right decision as, a little over a month from now, audiences sit on their couches to enjoy Snyder’s definitive take on his Justice League project.

  • First Look at Granny Goodness in Latest ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Teaser

First Look at Granny Goodness in Latest ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Teaser

The build-up to Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been monumental. For a while now, Snyder has been teasing the inclusion of Darkseid in his film. At one point, the character got cut from the theatrical cut of the film aside from a few name drops from Parademon grunts. We got our first look at the lord of Apokolips back at DC Fandome, and from there, fans weren’t sure just how much we would see of the character, as his uncle Steppenwolf remains the primary foe of the film. Now that the countdown has begun, it makes us wonder if we get more teases of how much of the New Gods we can expect. Snyder has dropped short teasers every day to build up to its release. It seems fans are about to get a lot more than they bargained for, as the newest teaser provides a much better look at Darkseid alongside his closest and trusted confidants.

The short teaser offered us our first possible look at a classic New God that’s commanded the legions of Parademons and Female Furies since their very inception. In a short glimpse at what looks to be a throne room on the planet of Apokolips, we see an armor-clad Darkseid joined by Desaad. Now, the big surprise is on his other side, as it confirms the first live-action appearance of Granny Goodness. It makes sense for Darkseid to keep her close by, especially during times of war. She was the one that trains and commands his army, so she is a powerful ally to have. It looks like the film is set to feature much more of the New Gods than previously seen before. Zack Snyder’s Justice League starts streaming on March 18th exclusively on HBO Max.

  • ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’: First Look at Jared Leto’s Joker Released

‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’: First Look at Jared Leto’s Joker Released

Zack Snyders Justice League will see the return of many familiar faces, whether that be the League themselves or the new gods of Apokolips. Everyone’s sure to know one of the many faces that will show up throughout the film. A more controversial addition to the table is Jared Leto, who will reprise his role as the clown prince of crime. This inclusion marks his first return after his appearance in 2016’s Suicide Squad. He was notably absent from Birds of Prey and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, in which musical artist Johnny Goth doubled for the character. It looks like Zack Snyder is going to explore a very unique version of Leto‘s Joker, which he revealed in Vanity Fair to the public, as we countdown to the March release.

The black-and-white image reveals that he doesn’t have the controversial tattoos from Suicide Squad. The director did confirm that we will also get a version of the character covered in police badges, which he collected as trophies, at some point in the film. This version of the character seems more road-worn. Snyder did reveal that he will play an essential part in a sequence featuring Ben Affleck‘s Batman. Justice League aims to build upon the various plot threads set-up in Batman v. Superman. He also pointed out that the Joker’s inclusion will add to the backstory involving Robin. We still never got any details on what transpired, so it’ll be interesting to get some more information on the event. We are only a few weeks away from the release, so here’s hoping we get more reveals.

  • ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Release Date Revealed Alongside New Poster

‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Release Date Revealed Alongside New Poster

The time is drawing near, many said that it would never happen and for years denounced the claims, but in the end, the passion of the movement triumphed all and justice will finally be served. Early last year, following an anniversary screening with Zack Snyder for Man of Steelwhere it was revealed that Snyder had gotten the green light and the funding to finish his cut of the film. The cut was revealed to release sometime in early 2021 exclusively on HBO Max, and today we finally got a concrete date for the upcoming director’s cut of the upcoming comic book epic.

Alongside a new poster, the film is set to officially release on March 18th on HBO Max here in the US. The release date was announced alongside three brand new, black and white, never-before-seen posters. The director’s cut is currently being marketed under the name Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but the name is notably absent from the posters which could hint at another possible title change. The cut is currently expected to release on March 18th as a full four-hour feature on HBO Max, opposed to the one-hour release weekly that was thought to be the project’s release strategy before.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will somewhat see the return of Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, Ezra Miller, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, Cirian Hinds, Amy Adams in their respective roles from previous films and the theatrical release of Justice League. The director’s cut will also of course feature new and never-before scenes that never made the original cut of the film with appearances from Jared Leto, Joe Manganiello, Willem Dafoe, Kiersey Clemons, Karen Bryson, Orion Lee, Harry Lennix, and of course Ray Porter as Darkseid.

  • ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’: Harry Lenix Confirms Martian Manhunter Appearance

‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’: Harry Lenix Confirms Martian Manhunter Appearance

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is by far one of the most anticipated films of 2021. The film has risen to legendary status at this point. Many thought the rumored cut of the film would never see the light of day. Throughout the past few years, Snyder would take to Vero to tease aspects of the film that never made it into the version we saw from Joss Whedon. One scene, in particular, was the reveal of General Swanwick’s true identity. It seems he always intended for the character to be the Martian Manhunter in disguise. Now that the Snyder Cut is a reality, it opened up the floodgate on theories if we’d get to see Manhunter on the silver screen after all.

In a recent interview with Collider, Harry Lennix got asked about his thoughts on the upcoming mini-series and his character. He then revealed that he’d never actually filmed these scenes due to scheduling issues on The Blacklist. At the time, he knew nothing of his secret identity. He didn’t get a chance to read the script before Snyder left the production. However, Lennix stated that he met with Zack and his team back in October. As such, he was able to finish his scenes for the film via green screen.

With Lennix on set for Snyder‘s additional photography, it could be possible that Snyder may have included the Martian in the newest Knightmare scene. The timing would match when rumors hit that other actors shot some scenes for this sequence, such as Jared Leto and Joe Manganiello. It would be a great addition to Batman’s resistance and would give fans much more Manhunter than they initially expected. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will reportedly release in March as a four-part mini-series on the HBO Max streaming service. We are only a few months away before Snyder’s original vision of the Justice League is revealed, so who knows what else may be heading our way until then.
