  • Bruce Campbell Teases His ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Role

Bruce Campbell Teases His ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Role

It was last year in February when Bruce Campbell shared a photo from London that would fuel countless hours of speculation. The timing would fuel speculation on him continuing the tradition that he makes a cameo in Sam Raimi‘s latest film, which just happened to be Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It seems that during his attendance at a convention, he has not only confirmed his cameo but also teased what it may be.

Reddit user “I did a cool scene with a character that’s been beloved for years, and…we’ll have to see what ends up in the movie. I don’t know if it’s still in there. It’s a pretty cool part.” shared some paraphrasing quotes from the event that helped offer some insight into what his role might be. The biggest surprise is that he also stated that he he was involved with multiple scenes. As such, it is likely a larger role than initially expected and not just a simple cameo appearance like in other films. Plus, he teases his role with a “beloved” character:

I did a cool scene with a character that’s been beloved for years, and…we’ll have to see what ends up in the movie. I don’t know if it’s still in there. It’s a pretty cool part.

    Bruce Campbell

Of course, it seems easy to say that he might’ve had some scenes with Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange. Yet, he could’ve shared that without hiding who the character he got to share a scene with. There was a LEGO leak that may have hinted at the addition of Spider-Man in the upcoming film. Perhaps Raimi got to pay tribute to the trilogy that put him on every comic book nerds radar. We’ll have to see what the film has in store for us in May.

  • RUMOR: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Reshoots Heading to Puerto Rico

RUMOR: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Reshoots Heading to Puerto Rico

It hasn’t been an easy production for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as they were forced to wrap up early due to Letitia Wright getting injured on set. They did start production on reshoots some time ago, which were eyeing a March wrap-up but it seems they have added a new production location according to One Take News.

In their latest article, they shared that the upcoming film is ending their work in Atlanta and then heading to Puerto Rico in the near future. They highlight that the location will be used as a backdrop for Haiti, but no further details. It is curious they are adding a new location this late into the production, but if they weren’t able to return to Haiti.

With the rumors surrounding Namor becoming a primary addition in the upcoming sequel, the location would seem fitting as a location that has ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s take on Atlantis. We don’t know how they might tackle the mystical sunken city, perhaps it is not underwater but hidden from the world. The addition of this late into production might also be an indication of this being used for a post-credit sequence potentially.

We won’t know for sure until Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases later this year. The film is still eyeing a November production start, but the longer reproduction drags out, the more it seems like that’ll be unlikely. Hopefully, it doesn’t rush the post-production but they may have used the time in between reshoots to cover the loss of time.

  • James Mangold’s ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Has Wrapped Production

James Mangold’s ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Has Wrapped Production

The production on the fifth entry of Indiana Jones has seemingly wrapped production, as producer Frank Marshall took to Twitter to share a picture of the production hat that includes the iconic nickname “Indy” with the announcement that they’ve finished work on the project. You can check out the tweet right here:

The last time we’ve heard from the production was back in October when set photos from Sicily found their way online. They offered our first look at Mads Mikkelsen, who is rumored to be playing the film’s primary antagonist. It’s still unclear who he might play or how the story builds upon the fourth entry, but it does seem like we are returning to the franchise with a strong focus on the character that made it so iconic, as James Mangold takes over directing duties from Steven Spielberg.

Harrison Ford, of course, is also returning in the picnic role, as he continues to keep ancient treasures out of the hands of the wrong people while battling with his age. There is no word that the film will carry over the storyline set up in the fourth entry, as Crystal Skull introduced his son, played by Shia LeBeouf. For now, it seems like the upcoming film might be a final send-off to the iconic character.

  • Nicholas Hoult’s ‘Renfield’ to Release in 2023

Nicholas Hoult’s ‘Renfield’ to Release in 2023

While the title of Universal’s film Renfield seems like it’ll explore the dramatic or comedic life of a character with the same name, it’s actually a unique take on the classic Dracula storyline. The character is actually his henchman (Nicholas Hoult), which offers a comedic look at his story serving under Dracula’s watchful eyes. Nicholas Cage is taking on the role of the classic vampire, as the story takes place in the modern-day, as Renfield tries to find a way to detach himself from his master.

As the film was mostly focused on casting its main cast, we’ve only now gotten a release date for the project. Universal has decided that April 14th, 2023 is the perfect time to bring Dracula back to theaters. The film will be directed by Chris McKay, who just recently worked on The Tomorrow War for Amazon and working on a script based on an idea by Robert Kirkman, who many know for his work on The Walking Dead. However, he’s not writing the script as Ryan Ridley of Rick and Morty fame is tackling that role.

The film is taking inspiration from the 1897 novel by Bram Stoker, but the new setting will definitely tell an original story. Thought, it could include quite a few references to the story and characters that were introduced in the novel. We still have some time until it releases and we’ll see just how comedic the film might go once the trailer drops.

  • ‘Rogue Squadron’ Still Eyeing 2023 Release After All

‘Rogue Squadron’ Still Eyeing 2023 Release After All

Lucasfilm has been quite busy expanding its Star Wars franchise through Disney+. Yet, some have noticed that there is a distinct lack of films from the franchise. Even news surrounding their projects announced during Disney Investor’s Day has gone silent. Suddenly, rumors started making the rounds that Patty JenkinsRogue Squadron may have gotten postponed until 2024. Yet, it seems it is still eyeing a 2023 release.

Shortly after, the project was postponed indefinitely without any real update on where the project was heading. Jenkins’ already had quite a few projects and may be used the time for the script to get to where it needed to be. Disney has now shared their upcoming cinematic release schedules that go as far back as 2028, and Rogue Squadron is seemingly still eyeing a release on the 22nd December 2023. It may add some hope that the film is still on track to release on time after all.

We still know very little about Lucasfilm’s plans or the cinematic future of Star Wars. There were rumors that they are considering a new trilogy, but we’ve also heard nothing on Taika Waititi‘s upcoming live-action film. While they have been pushing out series after series on Disney+, it’s still strange to think how little we know about the franchise’s future.

  • How Hulu’s Thriller ‘No Exit’ Was Made

How Hulu’s Thriller ‘No Exit’ Was Made

Fans of thrillers have Hulu’s No Exit to look forward to this weekend. Based on Taylor Adams‘ best-selling novel, the film sees Havana Rose Liu‘s Darby holed up in a rest stop with 4 strangers during a snowstorm. Everything seems fine until Darby discovers a kidnapped child tied up in one of the cars. Murphy’s Multiverse was invited to the film’s press junket which included director Damien Power and its cast.

Liu was asked about her electrifying turn as Darby, a recovering addict whose demons always get the best of her. Liu, a newcomer to the industry, gave a very humbling answer.

With Darby, I barely even had time to think. It just felt like it was flowing right from me.  I find her to be gritty, bold, charming, tortured, and also very vulnerable in a way that I don’t think we always see heroic characters holding onto. And I think for me, it was just the best, most sort of complex, nuanced character I could have  asked to play, given that so many of her faults really are her strengths and vice versa.

    Havana Rose Liu

No Exit‘s tension stems from the premise’s wildly claustrophobic setting. The film first takes the shape of traditional whodunits but soon morphs into something crazier. Director Damien Power addressed some of the themes that come with a film like No Exit.

This is not a film about a character or characters who go on a journey and grow and change. It’s really a film about how true character is revealed under pressure. And that applies to every single character in that room. The film the film asks the audience, you know, the audience is trying to work out who is the kidnapper. So, Darby’s trying to ask, “Who are you?” and the film asks that  question of the characters all the time. Who are you when  this happens? Who are you now? Who are you when the  pressure’s really on?

As to why Power agreed to adapt the novel into live-action, the answer was clear cut upon reading Taylor Adams‘ work.

I think the script that I read was already quite faithful to the novel. There are a few elements that I thought we could take from the novel though. I mean, as a novel, it had a great  character-driven plot, it’s got high stakes, it’s got these surprising twists and turns, this incredible, hostile setting, and, you know, this great ticking clock with the girl in the van. And all that was already in the script that I read. I can see why people read [the novel] and thought this would make a great movie. So did  I.

    Damien Power

One of No Exit‘s secret weapons is Mila Harris, who plays the kidnapped child. We got to ask the cast what it was like working with her and they had nothing but nice things to say. Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Danny Ramirez described Harris as a “powerhouse.”

She’s like one of the best child  actresses that I’ve ever worked with. Honestly, knocked it out of the park every single time.

    Danny Ramirez

Even the great Dennis Haysbert chimed on Harris’ scene-stealing performance. With such a dark and morbid premise, Haysbert was worried the film would have a traumatizing effect on a young girl but Harris alleviated those worries.

I wondered if she was traumatized at  all, you know? And she wasn’t. She just wasn’t. And unless she’s an even better actress than I think she just handled it just right off her shoulders. She’s fine. She was marvelous.

    Dennis Haysbert

The production design of No Exit’s outdoor set is one of the better aspects of the film. Much of the film’s most intense moments take place in the freezing snowy outdoors and the team nailed making that location look convincingly real. According to Power:

There was no real snow. We filmed the entire film in a studio in Auckland in New Zealand in summer. So we had a lot of fake snow, which was not without its own hazards, as Havana can tell you. She got totally hosed by a snow tornado on day one which was pretty painful. So  we had-we had some fake snow on set and then we added a lot of digital snow. I think every time you’re looking at  some snow, there’s a digital element in there  somewhere.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Digital Preorder Sales Surpass ‘Avengers: Endgame’

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Digital Preorder Sales Surpass ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Well, it’s pretty clear that Spider-Man: No Way Home is a powerhouse in and out of theaters. Media Play News has revealed that the pre-order sales for Marvel Studios’ third entry in the franchise has become Vudu’s top-selling preorder title of all time. It is set to release on March 22nd, which means it can only go up from here. As such, it has also beaten Avengers: Endgame in preorder sales and has left its mark as one of the hottest releases.

The film’s sales have been quite impressive and it does seem like the film is carrying over the excitement that fans had seen their favorite Spider-Man actors appear on the screen. There’s something special about owning that film and being able to revisit it again, even if you’ve probably spent way too much time in theaters rewatching the film over and over again.

It does make you wonder just how well Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may perform. The film is not only teasing some well-known characters from Marvel’s cinematic past but also builds directly out of one of the most popular films since 2019. There’s a good chance that its release may rival the Spidey threequel, but only time will tell.

  • Paramount to Let it Rip With Live-Action ‘Beyblade’ Movie

Paramount to Let it Rip With Live-Action ‘Beyblade’ Movie

You never know what franchise is making its way to cinemas nowadays. Barbie is getting ready to offer an all-star cast revisiting Matell’s iconic doll with Greta Gerwig at the helm. Years ago, The LEGO Movie redefined what it meant to be a film based on a toy. Now, Paramount is ready to let it rip with a live-action film based on the toy franchise Beyblade. Not just that, but “Mr. Blockbuster” Jerry Bruckheimer is also attached to produce the film.

The spinning tops were a collectible toy which is licensed by Hasbro. There have been countless manga, anime, and comic adaptations of the popular franchise that tended to focus on a tournament. Neil Widener and Gavin James are set to write the script, but it’s unclear if it’ll stick to the classic approach with the franchise or try something different. As you can guess, it’s still in early development but they already hope to turn it into a massive franchise like the Transformers.

Bruckheimer is a fitting choice given how he turned the Pirates of The Caribbean into a massive franchise. The writers are also busy working on the script for the DC project Hourman and Now You See Me 3. Given its sales numbers, it’s no wonder that they see the potential in it. Makes you wonder when we’ll get the announcement for a live-action Yu-gi-oh! franchise at this point given the popularity of the card game and anime franchise.

  • New ‘The Batman’ Clip Features Riddler Unmasked

New ‘The Batman’ Clip Features Riddler Unmasked

Since the first trailer dropped, The Batman has gone out of its way to make sure we never get a good look at Paul Dano‘s take on the classic villain, the Riddler. Director Matt Reeves has openly discussed that they are taking inspiration from the Zodiac killer with this character’s new take. As such, they made a big deal out of not revealing his face. Yet, an official clip has found its way online from Good Morning America that includes the rest of the scene we saw in the opening of the second trailer. Yet, instead of ending early, it briefly reveals the Riddler unmasked.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzn19gVouXk

While it is Dano‘s face, as to be expected, it’s interesting how meek they made the Riddler look. Edward Nygma might be a murderer, but the film is diving into a version that could be an “anyone” on the street who you’d never expect could be behind the cases you see on the news. As he’s getting arrested in this scene it’ll be interesting to see if this is earlier or even much later in the film.

The Batman has pushed its marketing into overdrive with only a week left to go. We’re still anticipating the reviews for the film to confirm if Reeves’ new franchise is one to keep a close eye on. The trailers have certainly been promising and we’Ll see if there is more to Dano‘s character in the film than they are letting on. Somehow, we still know very little about the film’s story and we’ll have to be patient just a little bit longer.

  • Ryan Reynolds Teases “a Batch of Updates” for ‘Deadpool 3’

Ryan Reynolds Teases “a Batch of Updates” for ‘Deadpool 3’

Ryan Reynolds probably knew Deadpool 3 questions were heading his way the moment he started the press tour for his Netflix film, The Adam Project. Just recently, he was asked if he has a possible cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and loosely mentioned that they’re still working on the next Deadpool entry. In an interview with Collider, the actor did offer a bit more on the Marvel Studios film, especially with the possibility of him and Shawn Levy working on the project together. While he avoided giving a clear indication on that, he did hint that we may get some more information “sooner rather than later.” His full quote is as followed:

We pretty much talk about everything, but I’ll say this about that particular subject is I’ll have a batch of updates on that sooner rather than later, I hope. So I’ll be able to get into stuff about Deadpool a little bit more clearly and definitively down the road.

    Ryan Reynolds

There’s a chance that they’re still working on the script and Reynolds has been busy with other projects. No director has been announced for the project, and it didn’t even get a dramatic logo reveal like the Fantastic Four film, which doesn’t even have writers attached – as far as we know. So, we’ll have to see if an announcement or update will really offer any details, but it would seem logical to get some kind of information on the project by the end of the year, as they start promoting what is heading our way after 2023. For now, all we can do is wait.
