  • Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige Talks the Reshuffling of Release Dates

Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige Talks the Reshuffling of Release Dates

On Monday morning, Marvel Studios and Disney surprised everyone when multiple release dates were shifted. While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was lucky to retain its May 2023 release date, most of next year’s releases were pushed, including the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Unfortunately, at the time of the press release, the reasoning behind the changes was not made apparent. During the premiere of Eternals, though, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige briefly touched upon the release date changes, citing production shifts for the change.

While on the blue carpet for Eternals, Feige was asked about the release date shuffling and indicated there’s no reason for fans to worry. “It’s production shifts and changes,” he explained. “Because we have so many slots, we can just shift spots, so… we’re just shifting the movies coming out.”

As it stands, the new release dates are as follow:

    November 5, 2021: Eternals
December 15, 2021: Spider-Man: No Way Home, in collaboration with Sony
May 6, 2022: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
July 8, 2022: Thor: Love and Thunder
November 11, 2022: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
    February 17, 2023: The Marvels
May 5, 2023: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
July 28, 2023: Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
November 3, 2023: Untitled Marvel Studios film
February 16, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film
May 3, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film
July 26, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film
November 8, 2024: Untitled Marvel Studios film

Marvel Studios’ Eternals hits theaters on Nov. 5. Chloé Zhao directs the film from a script she co-wrote along with Ryan Firpo and Kaz Firpo.

  • Mel Gibson To Star in ‘John Wick’ Spin-off ‘The Continental’

Mel Gibson To Star in ‘John Wick’ Spin-off ‘The Continental’

John Wick is one of those rare original IPs in the past 10 years to have actual longevity. What started as a return to form for star Keanu Reeves in 2014 is now a highly successful action franchise with content beyond the theatrical films. The Continental is one of those, a long-reported spinoff centering on the fabled hotel that houses assassins from the film. Deadline is reporting that that project is finally happening as a three-night special event TV with none other than Mel Gibson as its lead.

The Continental will explore the origin behind the hotel-for-assassins, which increasingly has become the centerpiece of the John Wick universe. This will be accomplished through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals. No word yet on who’ll play Winston Scott (the hotel owner is played in the films by Ian McShane).

Gibson has long been recognized for his work on iconic action films such as the Lethal Weapon franchise. No word yet on who Gibson is portraying other than his character name, Cormac. The Continental also marks Gibson’s first foray into TV in decades, having gotten his start on Australian television in the 70s.

  • Marvel Studios Sent Men in Trench Coats Pick Up ‘Eternals’ Scripts from Actors

Marvel Studios Sent Men in Trench Coats Pick Up ‘Eternals’ Scripts from Actors

Nope, that title is not a joke. The company is infamous for its secrecy. Avengers: Endgame‘s script had multiple different endings to keep people on their toes. In an interview with Elle, the woman of Eternals offered even more insight into how far Marvel Studios will go to keep a secret. Salma Hayek was annoyed with the fact she couldn’t keep the full script, as they’d only hand out piece by piece. Lauren Ridloff, who’ll play Makkari in the film, even revealed that there’s a suspicious trench coat man that picks up the scripts and exchanges them.

They had a man in a trench coat. I’m not kidding, who’d come to my house at 11 at night with new script pages. You had to trade them off with the old script pages. Then he’d just walk off into the night. It was very undercover, covert.

    Lauren Ridloff

It must’ve been a strange experience having a guy in a trench coat appear at your home to take the script with them. Here’s hoping the actors were informed who would end up picking up their scripts. Otherwise, some of these mysterious people in trench coats may end up meeting their security or really hungry dogs, especially if these people showed up at 11 PM. Though it highlights just how secretive the company is on making sure nothing leaks from their scripts. Who knows what other measures they have to ensure that future projects are as secretive as they can be. Some things still manage to find their way online, but it doesn’t look like the company is holding back on ensuring as little as possible does. Still, it’s crazy to think of having a man in a trench coat appear in the middle of the night at your door.

  • REPORT: Marvel Studios’ ‘Nova’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ Eyeing 2023 Production Start

REPORT: Marvel Studios’ ‘Nova’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ Eyeing 2023 Production Start

Marvel Studios just had quite the shuffle today, as they reorganized their 2022+ schedule. As the pandemic has slowly loosened its grip on the box office, it made sense that they would try to readjust the films to better fit the usual release schedule. Sadly, it also pushed quite a few films back, such as Doctor Strange’s sequel now premiering in May instead of March. Interestingly, Geeks WorldWide’s KC Walsh shared another interesting detail regarding Fantastic 4 and the long-teased Nova project.

According to his latest tweet, both these projects are eyeing a production start in 2023. It gives us a clearer picture of when we can expect these new entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Plus, Nova is a character that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased back in January. A potential production start could also be the first hint that we get an announcement for the project in the near future.

Production starts in 2023 would hint at a potential 2024 release for both projects. Of course, the question also remains what their exact plans are moving forward. We have quite the line-up until that point so we aren’t missing out. Plus, it also gives the new adaptation of Fantastic Four time to separate itself from the last entry in the franchise from 2015.

The fact that Nova is also moving forward opens up quite a lot of questions and possibilities. With the growing focus on young heroes, perhaps we’ll finally explore the aftermath of Thanos’ attack on Xandar and how this may ripple across the galaxy. The Nova Corp. was quite distinct from its comic counterpart, which means we might get to explore some new mystery surrounding the origins of Richard Rider’s abilities.

While production of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was briefly delayed, productions on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder have wrapped and The Marvels and Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania have, as far as we know proceeded without problems.

The updates mean Marvel Studios will only have 3 films in theaters in 2022. And while they still look to put 4 in theaters in 2023, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has now been moved to July, meaning it’s release will now be AFTER Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Four films remain on Marvel Studios 2024 slate with flags planted on February 16th, May 3rd, July 26th and November 8th.

In total, one film was removed from the upcoming Marvel Studios slate.

Captain America 4 and Blade were expected to be the next two films to enter into production, and Fantastic Four and Deadpool 3 are believed to be high up on the list as well.

We’ll continue to update this story as it develops.

  • Jacob Scipio Reunites with ‘Bad Boys for Life’ Directors in HBO Max’s ‘Batgirl’

Jacob Scipio Reunites with ‘Bad Boys for Life’ Directors in HBO Max’s ‘Batgirl’

Jacob Scipio broke out as Will Smith’s surprise son in Bad Boys for Life and now the young actor is making the jump to the superhero genre. According to a trade report, Scipio is reuniting with Bad Boys for Life directors  Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah in the HBO Max original film Batgirl.

According to the report, Scipio’s role is being kept a secret for the time being. Previous reports had the film searching for an actor to portray DC villain Firefly, but give the age of Scipio and the age group being screened for Firefly, it’s likely Scipio is playing someone else.

Scipio joins star Leslie Grace and J.K. Simmons as actors known to be a part of the project. Production on Batgirl will take place in Glasgow, where filming on Matt Reeve’s The Batman recently concluded. The film will stream exclusively on HBO Max sometime in 2022.

  • First Look: Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’

First Look: Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’

Back in March, Murphy’s Multiverse had the exclusive scoop that Rob Zombie was set to direct an adaptation of The Munsters. That scoop was confirmed by Zombie himself and now he’s shared the first look at the cast of the upcoming film which will debut on Peacock and in theaters sometime in 2022.

The set photo also confirms the news from the original scoop that production will be taking place in Budapest, Hungary and that Sherri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips, and Dan Roebuck would have major roles in the film as Lily, Herman and the Count (Grandpa), respectively.

Zombie has long expressed his admiration for the original Munsters TV series, even including the Munster’s vehicle in the music video for Dragula, which was an homage to the coach driven by Grandpa Munster.

  • ‘Black Adam’ Teaser Could Confirm Villain Rumors

‘Black Adam’ Teaser Could Confirm Villain Rumors

Black Adam is one of the strongest characters within the DC Universe, harnessing the power of the wizard Shazam and ruling the country of Kahndaq. The character is set to make his live-action debut in his very own solo film coming next year. DC FanDome gave us our first look at the film including a brief scene from the film showing off the anti-hero’s power as he turned a man to ash with just a grasp. Many wondered just who Adam would be facing off against in the film, besides the Justice Society, and it seems another rumored foe may have been confirmed.

The first Black Adam teaser was pretty fantastic, particularly a scene in which the fallen champion himself is set free from his centuries-long imprisonment at the ends of the wizard Shazam. Before he is set free, both Sarah Shahi and Marwan Kenzari can be seen. Shahi, who plays Adrianna Tomaz, is the one who sets Adam free by reciting the hieroglyphics and saying “Shazam!.” But just before that we can see an ancient-looking crown floating above Adams tomb, one that may just be the Crown of Sabbac.

Rumors began awhile back that actor Marwan Kenzari was cast as Ishmael, and would don the crown of Sabbac which would give the abilities of the Seven Kings of Hell. The character seems to have gotten a bit of a makeover with the character foregoing his Russian roots and adopting an Egyptian heritage as the descendant of a Pharaph whose story ties directly into Adam’s.

Black Adam will be in theaters July 29, 2022.

  • ‘Eternals’ Soundtrack Features Lizzo, BTS, Pink Floyd, and More

‘Eternals’ Soundtrack Features Lizzo, BTS, Pink Floyd, and More

Marvel Studios has started expanding in many different ways throughout history. What If…? was their first of many ventures into animation. Ever since the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, they’ve also explored musical ventures. Black Panther‘s album included songs performed and chosen by Kendrick Lamar. Recently, Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings also got one featuring music by 21 Savage and Rich Brian. It looks like Eternals will do something similar, as a new listing has been unveiled featuring BTS, Lizzo, Pink Floyd, and more. Here’s the list for the soundtrack

    • Pink FloydTime
    • Black Joe Lewis and The HoneybearsSugarfoot
    • Carl PerkinsLend Me Your Comb
    • BTSFriends

    • Merle HaggardMama Tried

It’s certainly an interesting mix of songs that truly reflect the diversity of the film’s main cast. MCU’s filmography has used quite a variety of needle drops that made the film’s many iconic moments stand out even more. Thor: Ragnarok‘s use of Led Zeppelin‘s Immigrant Song is still one of the franchise’s most memorable additions. Of course, there’s also AC/DC‘s Back in Black from Iron Man that kickstarted the franchise back in 2008. It’ll be interesting to see how these songs play into the film when it releases this November.
