RUMOR: ‘THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT’ Will Feature a Revenge Story and New Armor

It feels like forever since we last heard new details on The Book of Boba Fett. Intel about the upcoming Disney Plus series has been kept mostly under wraps, but a report from StarWarsNewsNet earlier today might finally have changed that. The article claims the show will see the titular character going after everyone who wronged him in his past and that the search will also include a line-up of other intergalactic bounty hunters. While that plot reveal may be exactly what some fans were hoping for, this next part is a bit more surprising. The site asserts when Boba Fett goes on his grand revenge tour, he’ll do it in a brand new suit of armor.

We’ve seen Boba rock a variety of outfits in the past, but most of them came in the form of animated appearances taking place during his youth. Also, much of the character’s arc in The Mandalorian’s second season revolved around the feared mercenary’s attempts to re-obtain his iconic look. So, it comes as sort of a shock that he would so quickly move on to something new. However, StarWarsNewsNet was sure to point out that actor Temuera Morrison has confirmed flashback sequences in the series. These flashbacks could perhaps be linked to the aforementioned thoughts of revenge, and the use of a wardrobe change is a classic technique to differentiate between past and present scenery.

It has also been suggested that the new digs could be the result of a fun marketing push, with toys based around a new design. After all, the new design is being described as having a “much better paint job” than the last time we saw Fett.

The Book of Boba Fett does not currently has a release date.

  • REPORT: ‘ANDOR’ Wraps Production

    REPORT: ‘ANDOR’ Wraps Production

It looks like Disney+’s Star Wars: Rogue One spin-off has wrapped production. According to Bespin Bulletin, the series has finished production over the weekend with most of the cast finishing up. They share that Diego Luna has also finished filming with sets already getting taken down. The series was first announced back in December during the Disney Investor’s Day by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Andor Release Date, Cast, Trailers & News

The last thing we’ve heard of this production was earlier this month with the report that The End of the F***ing World‘s Alex Lawther has joined the series. Filming has gone on for quite some time as they faced the COVID pandemic throughout production at Pinewood Studios. The Bespin Bulletin goes on to highlight that this was approached as a film with a twelve-episode run. It also required quite a few sets which adds to the production time.

The timing is also quite fitting, as Carl Weathers shared the news that The Mandalorian will start production in September. There’s a chance they might utilize the sets from it and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series to cut down on costs. It also implies that they’ll focus on working on a specific amount of projects.

We still know very little about the project besides it’ll act as a prequel to Rogue One. The Disney+ series will explore the time before he joined the resistance. Surprisingly, there are no plans to include his sarcastic sidekick K-2SO even when his inclusion was initially announced. We might get multiple seasons as we explore his first meeting with the droid in the future.

Carl Weathers Confirms ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3’s September Production Start

It seems like the production start date for The Mandalorian‘s third season has been one of the biggest mysteries as of late. We knew for a while that The Book of Boba Fett would replace its usual December release in 2021, but it was uncertain if that meant the series would start production earlier and then release throughout 2022. As time went on, there was no real news on it and it seemed like it might not release until December 2023, as Lucasfilm ventures out with other Disney+ series in the Star Wars franchise.

The Mandalorian' Reveals Baby Yoda's Real Name

Well, it seems we finally have a more clear date, as Carl Weathers revealed during a panel in Steel City Con that he’ll return as Greef Karga and also will direct at least one episode. Not just that, but he also gave us a time window with the Disney+ series entering production in September. Here is his quote from the event:

And so now, we’re gonna start a new season of The Mandalorian, within the next month. Yeah. And I get to be in front of camera again, and I get to direct again

    Carl Weathers

It’s great to finally get some kind of timeline for the production, as we’ve gotten various teases but nothing definite. We still know very little about what direction the franchise is heading with the third entry, as it continues to expand with other series like Ahsoka, which has been slowly picking up its casting in the past few weeks. They might have postponed production to also allow Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to utilize the Volume. We can’t wait to see how Din’s story continues without Grogu by his side.

It’s quite an impressive cast for this anime adaptation. Not just that, it’s also a sign of how invested Disney and Lucasfilm are in the project. They believe this new direction for an anthology series may stand out and also accompanies this same approach with What If…? which includes mostly actors who previously played the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It may be a sign for a new direction for animation and it’ll be interesting to see how this develops.

  • RUMOR: ‘AHSOKA’ Sabine Wren Short List Includes Lana Condor, Tati Gabrielle, and Havana Rose Lui

RUMOR: ‘AHSOKA’ Sabine Wren Short List Includes Lana Condor, Tati Gabrielle, and Havana Rose Lui

It looks like casting is underway for the upcoming Disney+ spin-off Ahsoka. It’ll continue the story set up in The Mandalorian, where Rosario Dawson‘s take on the iconic Star Wars character sets out to find out what happened to Ezra after the events of Rebels. Cinelinx’s Jordan Maison and SlashFilm’s Adam Frazier shared some insight into the potential actors up for the role, as they shared information that includes Lana Condor, Tati Gabrielle, and Havana Rose Lui.

    https://twitter.com/JordanMaison/status/1425484573631295492?s=20

Sabine Wren has quite a few ties to the plot focused around the return to Mandalore. She is a female Mandalorian warrior, who acted as a revolutionary leader in the early times of the rebellion. She even was another Mandalorian to wield the Darksaber. Her goals align with those of Bo-Katan and her introduction into live-action might be the first inklings towards the overarching plot of the various stories.

The Mandalorian’s third season got delayed by some time, as we’re first to expand the franchise through the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett series. With Ahsoka rumors making the rounds, it might possibly enter production after Djin Darin’s story continues in the third season. So, they might even introduce Sabine in the mainline series before she takes a central role in the spin-off.

‘AHSOKA’ Seeking to Cast Live-Action Sabine Wren

It was with little surprise that Lucasfilm announced to be developing a live-action Ahsoka series, following her live-action introduction in the second season of The Mandalorian. Ever since that announcement on December 10, 2020, that fans have eagerly awaited the confirmation that Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren would be appearing alongside Rosario Dawnson‘s Ahsoka Tano, as her search for their long-lost friend Ezra Bridger continues.

    Sabine Wren | StarWars.com

This news has now seemingly been confirmed in a trade interview by Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television, and animation over at Marvel Studios, where, when referring that animation characters have often made the jump to live-action, it reads:

Dawson is leading a live-action Ahsoka spinoff for Disney+, with sources saying Lucasfilm is looking for an actress to star opposite Dawson as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren.

With Mena Massoud reportedly being the front runner to play live-action Ezra Bridger, and Lars Mikkelsen linked to the Admiral Thrawn role, all that’s missing is from Ahsoka‘s main cast is someone for the Sabine part. And we now have confirmation that Lucasfilm is indeed looking for someone to play the former Ghost crew member.

If rumors are true, they’ll also be joined by The Clone Wars character Barriss Offee. It seems worlds are colliding in the upcoming Ahsoka series, which will unite many open story points from Star Wars many animated series. It always opens up the potential to also expand into additional spin-offs that continue to expand upon the galaxy’s lore and visit the many unexplored corners along the way.

  • REPORT: ‘Andor’ Adds ‘The End of the F***ing World’s Alex Lawther

REPORT: ‘Andor’ Adds ‘The End of the F***ing World’s Alex Lawther

Lucasfilm’s Andor series has been quietly moving its production along, and now we finally have a solid update. Alex Lawther has reportedly joined the cast of the Disney Plus series in a supporting role, though the identity of his character and the extent of his role in the story remains unknown. The report comes from The Direct, who adds that Lucasfilm has yet to confirm the news. The British up-and-comer is best known for his leading role in Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World, as well as a one-episode appearance on the smash-hit sci-fi anthology Black Mirror. Lawther could be playing anything from a fellow Rebel spy to an Imperial officer.

Andor was announced way back in 2018, but several bumps in the road of production have delayed the series to a 2022 release. The show will consist of twelve episodes and will follow the early adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor. Introduced in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor is portrayed by actor Diego Luna. The series will also star a mixture of old and new faces, such as Genevieve O’Reilly, Forest Whitaker, Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, and Fiona Shaw. Alan Tudyk was originally announced to be reprising his role as the sassy droid K2-SO, but has since been left out of the project.

The first three episodes of Andor will be directed by Toby Haynes, replacing former director Tony Gilroy after the latter was forced out of the role by the unexpected global pandemic. Rogue One also famously experienced behind-the-scenes issues, but that movie turned out alright. So there is most likely still hope for Andor.

  • RUMOR: Sung Kang Will Play ‘STAR WARS: REBELS’ Character in ‘OBI-WAN KENOBI’

RUMOR: Sung Kang Will Play ‘STAR WARS: REBELS’ Character in ‘OBI-WAN KENOBI’

It’s possible we have our first information on Sung Kang’s mysterious Obi-Wan Kenobi role. A new report from Jordan Maison and the folks at Cinelinx are claiming that Kang will portray one of the Empire’s Inquisitors in the Disney+ series. More specifically, he is said to be the Fifth Brother, an antagonist we saw frequently in the second season of Dave Filoni’s animated Star Wars Rebels.

In that show, the Fifth Brother was voiced by Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, and worked closely with Sarah Michelle Geller’s Seventh Sister to track down the Force-sensitive Ezra Bridger and his master Kanan Jarrus. The Fifth Brother ultimately met his end at the hands of the former Sith Lord, Maul.

In the Star Wars universe, the Inquisitors are a group of Dark Side Force users who work for Darth Vader and the Empire. They spend much of the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope hunting down Force-sensitive individuals in an effort to kill or turn them. Maison claims that they won’t be the only Rebels characters who appear in Kenobi, but the scooper did not clarify who else might make an appearance.

Sung Kang is best known for his role as the fan favorite character Han Lue in the Fast and the Furious franchise. In recent years, he has also appeared in films like Raya and the Last Dragon and We Can Be Heroes. On television, he had a starring role in three seasons of the popular Starz series Power.

  • RUMOR: Vivian Lyra Blair Cast As Princess Leia in ‘OBI-WAN KENOBI’

RUMOR: Vivian Lyra Blair Cast As Princess Leia in ‘OBI-WAN KENOBI’

She may only be a child, but to us, she’s royalty. Rumor has it Princess Leia Organa will be making a return to live-action in next year’s Kenobi series. The news comes from Jordan Maison at Cinelinx, who claims actress Vivian Lyra Blair has been cast as a younger version of the iconic character for the upcoming Disney+ project.

The same report reveals that Leia will be a major part of Kenobi’s story, with Maison describing her role as the “impetus” of the whole show. If the rumor is true, it seems the young Princess will be the reason Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi dives into a new adventure.

Blair is perhaps best known for her work in 2018’s surprise hit Bird Box, and also had a role in Robert Rodriguez’s Sharkboy & Lavagirl spin-off We Can Be Heroes. Princess Leia is one of the founding characters of the Star Wars franchise. She was originally brought to life by Carrie Fisher, who famously portrayed the character in six films over the course of forty years. The rebellious dignitary also had a cameo appearance in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila standing in as a body double for Fisher.

Other than this cameo, not much of the character’s life before A New Hope has been explored. Leia appeared briefly in Dave Filoni’s Star Wars Rebels, working against the Empire on her adoptive father’s orders. She may be a little too young to be participating in missions in Kenobi, so it will be interesting to see what shenanigans could end up getting Obi-Wan out of exile on Tatooine.

  • BREAKING: Gina Carano Has Been Fired by Lucasfilm

BREAKING: Gina Carano Has Been Fired by Lucasfilm

It was only a matter of time until her batshit comments caught up to her but Gina Carano has now been fired by Lucasfilm, in an exclusive report by io9. The outlet received a statement from a Lucasfilm spokesperson saying, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.” The report was also seconded by The Hollywood Reporter, whose sources revealed that an announcement unveiling Carano as the star of her own show was quickly scrapped when the controversy first started a couple of months back.

Gina made waves again this week after posting photos on Instagram comparing the political divide in the US to the horrors and atrocities in Nazi Germany. That post was taken down quickly as the fan outrage deservedly started pouring in and the hashtag #FireGinaCarano surfaced. Carano, over the past few months, has been on a streak of controversy, sharing misinformation on mask-wearing, the vaccine, BLM protests, and the 2020 elections, in addition to the transphobic comments she previously posted online.

There’s no word yet on what happens to her Mandalorian character, Cara Dune, but given the scale of the Star Wars galaxy, we imagine it won’t be tough to write her off the show.
