  • Disney Plus ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series Premiere Date Revealed

Disney Plus ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series Premiere Date Revealed

As The Book of Boba Fett comes to an end, Disney Plus has turned the page to the next Star Wars streaming series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. After months of speculation, an official release date for the Ewan McGregor-led streamer has been revealed. After a long wait, the series will finally make its way to Disney+ on May 25th. It also confirms recent rumors that hinted at the series making its debut sometime in May.

It’s still surprising they wouldn’t want to bank on May 4th landing on a Wednesday, but they have been planning in breaks between their various Disney+ shows, especially with Moon Knight making its debut at the end of March. So, we’ll have a bit of a break after the Marvel Studios series premieres its finale.

The logo is also given a slight adaptation, as you can see it falling apart into the sand, especially with the first poster showcasing the Jedi wandering the desert of Tatooine. We just spent quite a bit of time on the planet throughout The Book of Boba Fett. So, hopefully, we might also get to visit different locations throughout the series run.

  • New ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Merch Featuring Cad Bane Released

New ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Merch Featuring Cad Bane Released

Just as the finale has been released, it seems that Disney is ready to make the best of Cad Bane’s live-action debut with new merchandise featuring the iconic bounty hunter. He made his debut in The Book of Boba Fett’s sixth episode and also had a substantial role in the finale. So, it makes sense that they would release some merchandise based on the character, and it even offers a full look at his design in the series. The merch was first noticed by Twitter user @starwarsstuff2.

The design still is great and it’s fascinating how they managed to make the design first introduced in The Clone Wars work so well in live-action. It’s also great that Corey Burton returned to bring him to life, which just adds that extra level of authenticity that the character made its way into live-action.

Even as the finale left some questions open regarding his future in the series, there is still a lot of potential surrounding his inclusion in live-action and what else they might explore. Plus, who knows what other animated character may make their way to live-action moving forward.

  • ‘Futurama’ Revival in the Works at Hulu

‘Futurama’ Revival in the Works at Hulu

It’s hard to keep a good series down, and Futurama was a prime example of that. The original series aired its first five seasons exclusively on Fox before eventually making its way to Comedy Central where it concluded its run with three more seasons. The future-set adult animated series created by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen looks to be making yet another return following a ten-year absence, this time finding a brand new home on Hulu.

The Planet Express will be making its way back to screens as a deal is currently being negotiated for a 20-episode return that will air exclusively on Hulu. The revival would feature the return of Billy West, Katey Sagal, Phil Lamar, Lauren Tom, and the rest of the original cast. Groening and Cohen would also return to work on the series.

The only deal that has yet to be signed is DiMaggio‘s, known for the iconic role of Bender and is still in negotiations to return for the role. In the meantime, series creator Groening shares his enthusiasm with a jab at their repeated cancellation:

“It’s a true honor to announce the triumphant return of Futurama one more time before we get canceled abruptly again.”

    Matt Groening

The series is set to head into production soon with a potential 2023 release on the streamer. Hulu’s president Craig Erwich shares his thoughts on the revival:

When presented with the opportunity to bring fans and viewers new episodes of Futurama, we couldn’t wait to dive in. This iconic series helped blaze the trail for the success of adult animation since its initial launch and we look forward to Matt & David continuing to pave the way and further establishing Hulu as the premiere destination for fans of the genre

    Craig Erwich

The return of Futurama is quite a surprise after ten years off the air but definitely a welcome one. Yet, to hear the cast come back together will definitely be a major selling point and it would be strange to not have DiMaggio as part of the crew. There is no Futurama without the entire Planet Express crew.

  • ‘Uncharted’s Ruben Fleischer Working on a ‘Jak and Daxter’ Adaptation

‘Uncharted’s Ruben Fleischer Working on a ‘Jak and Daxter’ Adaptation

Ruben Fleischer has been busy promoting his upcoming release of Uncharted, but it seems like he isn’t quite done with the world do PlayStation adaptations. In an interview with Digital Trends, he has revealed that he is working on also adapting another popular franchise. It looks like he has set his eyes on potentially bringing Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter to life.

I’m actually working on Jak and Daxter, a version of that, for PlayStation, which I think would be really cool to bring to life.

    Ruben Fleischer

Naughty Dog has had its hand in a variety of franchises, and Jak and Daxter might be one of the more curious ones to try and adapt in live-action. Uncharted mostly focused on hyperrealism while the franchise featuring a talking otter and weasel hybrid, Daxter, had a more fantastical and cartoony design. So, an adaptation might be a bit more troubling and potentially more expensive venture.

It’s not quite as cartoony as Crash Bandicoot, especially as later entries beyond the Precursor Legacy took a more adult route. So, they might skip most of the origin and go directly to the storylines from the second or third entries. Of course, it may still take some time as the director might get busy with Uncharted sequels if they end up a success.

  • Kevin Feige Initially Pitched Kingpin Joining ‘Hawkeye’

Kevin Feige Initially Pitched Kingpin Joining ‘Hawkeye’

Hawkeye brought back one of the biggest characters from the Netflix era in the form of Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Kingpin. He came back in full force and gave us another memorable performance. The actor has shared what brought him back throughout the. Producer Trinh Tran revealed in the latest episode of Marvel Studios Assembled on the Disney+ series that it was Kevin Feige who threw in the idea of the character joining the production.

Kevin threw out the idea that ‘What if this could be Kingpin?’ And I think all of our jaws just kind of dropping our Zoom meetings, and we’re kinda like, ‘Wait, you’re joking, right? This can’t be serious. Are you serious? This is… You really think that there’s a chance that we can actually get Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin in Daredevil in the series, as a cameo for a couple of scenes? Like, he is our big boss?’ And Kevin made a call to Vincent.

    Trinh Tran

It seems that they purposely wanted to go in a different direction with the character, as well as letting D’Onofrio influence his approach to the character. He was able to keep the intensity from the original series, as they still tried to make him stand out from what came before. He added that Feige pitched his return as his “introduction to the MCU” which highlights that it’s a different character. While his role was minor, it’s great that he was able to return, and hopefully, we’ll see more of him soon.

  • RUMOR: ‘Titans’ Season 4 May Feature Lex Luthor

RUMOR: ‘Titans’ Season 4 May Feature Lex Luthor

Here’s a rather curious rumor making the rounds, as it seems that a new rumor might be pointing to Lex Luthor potentially joining the upcoming fourth season of Titans. The series is no stranger to using familiar faces from across DC history, but it had a habit of focusing primarily on its ties to Batman’s mythology. Well, it seems they are finally going to explore Superman a bit more, as The Illuminerdi has hinted that the show might be adding Lex Luthor in an unknown role.

His addition does make sense considering the show heavily features Superboy, whose DNA is a mix of Superman and the iconic DC villain. So, an eventual confrontation between the two would carry a lot of emotional weight. Their take on Scarecrow was a far departure from what people are used to. It isn’t the first time we’ve seen the character join a live-action DC show, as Jon Cryer recently brought the character to life.

It’s a bit confusing how exactly Titans approaches its various characters, as some big names have been kept in the shadows. The Joker wasn’t even truly featured on screen in the last season outside of his laugh and some hints as they adapted Death in the Family. We’ll see how they approach this big-name character in the upcoming season if he truly makes an appearance.

  • BREAKING: Saul Zaentz Co. Looking for a Buyer of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’s Film and Gaming Rights

BREAKING: Saul Zaentz Co. Looking for a Buyer of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’s Film and Gaming Rights

Well, Hollywood is going to turn into a bidding war for the rights of Middle Earth, as Saul Zaentz Co. has decided to sell their Tolkien holdings. As such, it means the movie, merchandising, gaming and live events rights to his properties will go on sale. ACF Investment Bank is currently handling the sale with an estimated $2 billion as its current predicted value. The timing of course comes hot off the heels as Amazon started promoting their upcoming original series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Amazon currently leading the pack on purchasing the rights, which is fitting given their current work.

It’s quite the sell if any of the major names currently can get their hands on it. Netflix has been hunting franchise after franchise to create their own extended IP library. So, one of the most iconic fantasy franchises will definitely be on their radar yet given the close relationship, Amazon seems like the likeliest buyer.

If you’re wondering why Warner Bros. isn’t involved, the rights returned to Zaentz Co. last year, as the rights ran out for not producing any projects involving the Tolkien books. It seems that the overall interest in developing more projects had sold the company on selling the rights, especially as Amazon made a deal directly with the Tolkien estate for their series.

  • Anthony Ramos Joins Marvel Studios’ ‘Ironheart’, Large MCU Role Teased

Anthony Ramos Joins Marvel Studios’ ‘Ironheart’, Large MCU Role Teased

One of Marvel Studios’ most under-the-radar new projects has finally begun adding to it’s cast, and it’s starting off with a strong addition. Deadline is reporting that Anthony Ramos, frequent Lin-Manuel Miranda collaborator and star of both In the Heights and Hamilton, has joined the cast of Ironheart in an undisclosed role. Sources claim the part will be reminiscent of Jonathan Majors‘ participation in Loki, with an appearance in a Disney+ series setting Ramos up for an even larger role in the MCU’s future. Whoever his character may end up being, it will only add to the actor’s promising future in the industry. Once a supporting player in A Star is Born, the performer has also been tapped as a lead in the next Transformers film.

Ramos joins a cast that so far only includes Dominique Thorne in the titular role. First officially announced at Disney’s 2020 Investor’s Day presentation, the live-action show will follow the life of a genius, teenage MIT student Riri Williams as she invents her own high-tech suit of armor and follows in Tony Stark’s footsteps. It’s unknown when the character’s solo series will hit the small screen, but fans won’t have to wait too long for her to make a grand debut in the MCU. Reports indicate that Williams will make her first appearance in November when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters. Musician and poet Chinaka Hodge has been tapped to serve as the head writer for Ironheart, which will likely drop sometime after Disney+ premieres Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’ Episode Titles Have Seemingly Leaked

‘Ms. Marvel’ Episode Titles Have Seemingly Leaked

It’s almost frustrating to think that we would have gotten Ms. Marvel last year if things turned out as originally planned. The show was one of the Disney+ shows to film early, only for it to be delayed due to uncontrollable circumstances. Currently, the show is undergoing a round of reshoots that hint at key story points in the season. Beyond that, there’s not much information known about the season arc. However, a posting on TV Time seemingly has the episode titles of Ms. Marvel listed, which may give us a sense of what’s going on.

The first episode is aptly titled Kamala Khan: Embiggen! which may dispel those worrying rumors that her iconic embiggening powers would be altered for the show. Lockin’ Jaws is a reference to everyone’s favorite teleporting mutt, Lockjaw. The Woman I Look Up To reads like a Carol Danvers-centric episode, highlighting Kamala’s admiration for the character. My Faith is evidently about Kamala’s Islamic faith, a crucial aspect of the character.

It’s hard to pinpoint just how true these titles are given the inaccuracy of the countdown listen. Some of them undeniably sound suspicious. Based on the countdown, the first episode seems to be dropping on May 13th, which is a Friday. The Marvel shows on Disney+ usually drop on Wednesdays, which rules out certain details of this supposed leak.

  • Hulu Ending ‘Love, Victor’ With Season 3

Hulu Ending ‘Love, Victor’ With Season 3

Sadly, it looks like the YA Hulu series Love, Victor will be ending with its upcoming third and final season, which will premiere on June 15th. It seems that the announcement was initially done at the Television Critics Association. The series was initially planned as part of Disney+’s launch line-up, but was surprisingly deemed “too adult” for the family-focused streaming service and moved to the Disney-owned Hulu. No word has been shared on why it was decided to end the series with its upcoming third season.

The project was a spinoff of Love, Simon that focused on a new student to Creekwood High, Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino). It follows the same core narrative, as our protagonist uncovers his sexuality and trying to embrace who he truly is. The titular Simon (Nick Robinson) from the original series also had a recurring role as Victor’s mentor throughout the series. Of course, college on the horizon adds that additional pressure.

The writers of the original film, Isaac Aptaker, and Elizabeth Berger, took on the role of executive producers and got developed by 20th Television, as it became part of Disney Television Studios. It’s a shame that the heartfelt series is ending after only three seasons, but it seems that they may manage to end it on their own terms without building up a season 4 only to get the axe. It may even open the possibility of more spinoffs focusing on other characters moving forward. Perhaps Victor may grow into someone else’s mentor.
