  • Live-Action ‘Goosebumps’ Series Heading to Disney+

Live-Action ‘Goosebumps’ Series Heading to Disney+

Disney is continuing to build up its intellectual properties, as Variety has now unveiled that the House of Mouse picked up a live-action Goosebumps TV series. R.L. Stine‘s iconic book franchise will be brought to the streaming service in the form of a ten-episode season. Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman are attached as executive producers and writers for the series.

Letterman is also going to direct the first episode – fitting as he directed the 2015 film – but there is no word who will tackle the rest of the season. Original Film Neal H. Moritz is joining the production as an executive producer, which is noteworthy due to his involvement with the 2015 and 2018 live-action films based on the popular children franchise.

With its, it’s the second live-action Goosebumps show to ever air, as the original ran for four seasons for two years starting in 1996. It went on to tell different stories based on the book series in 74 episodes. It’s also not the first Stine adaptation heading to the streaming service, as Just Beyond also premiered back in October based on his graphic novels.

  • HBO Max Not Moving Forward With ‘The Boondocks’ Reboot

HBO Max Not Moving Forward With ‘The Boondocks’ Reboot

Here’s some rather depressing news, as it looks like Huey and Riley Freeman sadly won’t be returning to reboot the iconic animated franchise, The Boondocks. Originally, HBO Max ordered two seasons of the classic series from the original creator Aaron McGruder in cooperation with Sony Pictures Animation. They were going to launch the 24-episodes in the fall of 2020 with a 50-minute special. We were going to revisit the “Civil Rights Legend” Robert Freeman and his grandsons Huey and Riley, as they moved to the community in suburban Maryland before it gets taken over by Uncle Ruckes and a strange neo-fascist regime.

There is some good news here, as Sony Pictures is not ignoring the project and is looking for alternatives to release the reboot. The original series ran from 2005 until 2014 on Adult Swim and went on to win a Peabody Award. McGruder was going to return as showrunner alongside Mainstay Entertainment’s Norm Aladjem. Boondocks veteran Cedric Yarbrough recently hinted at the show potentially being passed on on the Geekset Podcast.

I hate to say this…right now the show is not coming back. We’ve been wanting to do the show and Sony and its…they decided they’re going to pull the plug,” he told the podcast host Rudy Strong. “Hopefully one day we’ll be able to revisit it…I wish the show was coming back

    Cedric Yarbrough

Sony still actively looking for a home is promising for the reboot’s future. It’s uncertain how far the project has gotten before HBO Max decided to pass on it. So, we’ll see what the future has in store for the series. It’s quite the cult favorite and it wouldn’t be surprising for someone interested in bringing the iconic franchise back.

  • New Art Book May Hint at ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ Release Date

New Art Book May Hint at ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ Release Date

There’s been a lot of debate if Warner Bros.’s open-world game, Hogwarts Legacy, would even manage its 2022 release window as news died down quickly on the project. Then, industry insider Tom Henderson hinted that the State of Play may arrive to confirm a summer release date for the game. While we’re still waiting for that rumored event – especially with the recent State of Play only focused on the next Gran Turismo release – there’s a chance that a book release offered some more hints at the game’s release.

As first noticed by The Rowling Library, Jody Revenson, who worked on other Wizarding World tie-in books, has tackled the art book for the upcoming Warner Bros. game titled The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy. What stands out is that the publication under the ISBN 9781647226190 was already given a release date. The book includes the release date of September 6th, which would potentially hint at the game also finding its way into stores around the same time. So, there’s a chance that it adds some validity to a potential summer release date.

Of course, nothing is final until we get an official statement but it’s a positive sign that we’ll get to see the release this year. The idea of being able to explore Hogwarts at your own leisure as a student sounds like a great time. We still know very little about the project, but it makes you wonder if we might see something similar to Rockstar’s Bully game. You have to explore the campus in-between lessons as you develop your abilities as a wizard. The potential is exciting and hopefully, it can deliver.

  • Anna Fishko to Write ‘Orphan Black’s Sequel Series for AMC

Anna Fishko to Write ‘Orphan Black’s Sequel Series for AMC

AMC is working on a new sequel series based on Orphan Black, which was first hinted at all the way back in 2019. Variety just shared the news that Anna Fishko will write and act as an executive producer for the series continuation. So far, plot details still remain under wraps outside of the fact that it won’t act as a reboot of the original, but a new story set within the same world. Temple Street Productions is also returning to produce the series.

Fishko has built up quite a reputation with AMC due to her work as a supervising producer of Fear the Walking Dead‘s fourth season. She also worked on Netflix’s The Society series, which sadly ended up getting canceled due to COVID indefinitely postponing production. She’s also worked on Colony, The Last Tycoon, and Tyrant in the past.

The writer will take over the series which was created by John Fawcett and Graeme Manson, and ran for five seasons back in 2013. There’s no word if Tatiana Maslany might also appear in some capacity after leading the original series. It’s also uncertain if they might bring back the clone concept, or explore a different science-fiction concept. We might still have to wait sometime before we truly find out what the project has to offer..

  • Rockstar Games Confirms Active Development on ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’

Rockstar Games Confirms Active Development on ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’

It’s weird to think that it took an announcement, to begin with, but Rockstar Games took to Twitter to confirm that they are already working on the next official entry in their popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. Their current version has been available since the Playstation 3 and has gone on to become a mainstay for many players, especially through the offering of Grand Theft Auto Online, which continued to add more content for players.

Rockstar Games took to Twitter to announce that the project is definitely underway and they aim to offer even more from what their latest release offered. So, it’ll be interesting to see how they want to make this new version stand out after we had three protagonists, especially as we had the ability to switch between them at any time.

The first real hint we got at production came back in October when Snoop Dogg revealed that Dr. Dre was involved with the project. With the controversy surrounding the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definite Edition, there might be some hesitancy on Rockstar potentially overpromising. Yet, their mainline entries have been in development for quite some time and the first trailer might offer a better look at what their vision of “better” truly entails.

  • RUMOR: Disney+ Exec May Have Hinted at ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Disney+ Release

RUMOR: Disney+ Exec May Have Hinted at ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Disney+ Release

We’ve all been wondering when we might expect the release of Lucasfilm’s next Disney+ series. Of course, there is still one more episode to go for The Book of Boba Fett, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t excited for what the future has in store, especially with how many series are currently being worked on. The obvious next release would be Ewan McGregor‘s return in Obi-Wan Kenobi, as it was the only project to get a teaser during Disney+ Day. In a now-deleted tweet by a Disney+ exec, we may have gotten a tease of when it may potentially release.

    Kenobi Tweet

He did go on to delete the original tweet and pointed out that it was for a different announcement, which turned out to be a Marvel comic focused on Obi-Wan heading for a May release. The wording of “Disney+” in the tweet is the odd inclusion, but there’s a chance that there was a mix-up with what was announced at the time. Of course, the timing of a comic release also seems fitting to find its way online alongside the Disney+ release.

We still have to wait just a tad longer until we find out when Kenobi may finally release. May 4th, also known as Star Wars Day to fans, falls on a Wednesday this year, which is the usual Disney+ release window for any series. So, it certainly seems like the perfect fit for that day. We may even get the first teaser at the end of The Book of Boba Fett similar to how The Mandalorian teased the release of its first spinoff after the TV show’s credits. So, we’ll see what the next week has in store for us.

  • RUMOR: David Tennant May Return to ‘Doctor Who’ As The 14th Doctor

RUMOR: David Tennant May Return to ‘Doctor Who’ As The 14th Doctor

We’ll have to take this with quite the grain of salt, but here’s a curious rumor that is making the rounds. Doctor Who has been struggling as of late even with Jodie Whittaker of fresh air. Still, we learned in September that Russell T. Davies would make his return as the series showrunner for the 60th anniversary. If the new rumor is to believe, he’ll be joined by another familiar face, as David Tennant may have been recast as a new version of the Doctor. You read that correctly, he isn’t returning as the Tenth Doctor but rather the next reincarnation of the Timelord.

If this does turn out to be true, Tennant would be the first actor to play two different versions of the Doctor. His original run was from 2005 until 2010 and worked alongside Davies, which adds some potential to the rumored return. The timing of such a curious move might be fitting with the 60th anniversary of the franchise. It’s uncertain just how the next regeneration might take place, which leaves the door open to potentially “choose” the next body.

Supposedly, Whittaker has already filmed her regeneration sequence. So, it’s more a question of time before we find out who is taking over for the 14th Doctor. Supposedly the rumor is hinting that this is just a temporary occasion before a 16th version takes over once the 60th anniversary ends. It seems also fitting with Tennant having played two versions of the Doctor in 2008’s “Journey’s End.” So, perhaps this might end up getting retroactively connected to the upcoming specials.

  • RUMOR: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Special Features Includes A New Matt Murdock Deleted Scene

RUMOR: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Special Features Includes A New Matt Murdock Deleted Scene

Spider-Man: No Way Home is filled to the brim with cameos, heartfelt storytelling, and memorable moments. It made you wonder how much we might expect from the Blu-ray release of what didn’t make it into the film, as 100 minutes of bonus content was teased early on. Insider Amit Chaudhari has seemingly released the entire list of special content, which includes the various deleted scenes. what stands out is “Happy’s Very Good Lawyer” which may tease an extension of Charlie Cox‘s return as Matt Murdock.

There also seems to be an extended interrogation sequence as well as more of Peter’s return to Midtown High. Of course, there are no exact details included to what the names mean and it doesn’t mean we’ll necessarily get more of Cox, but it may hint at how he ended up as Peter’s lawyer in the film. You can check out the full list right here:

Amit has been reliable in the past, and it’s unsure if the list might still undergo some changes ahead of its home and digital release. 100 minutes of No Way Home is certainly an exciting prospect and it makes you wonder if we’ll see more of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. It would be fun to get some small snippets from behind-the-scenes footage that teases their grins wearing the iconic outfits again. We’ll see what it has in store for fans once it releases.

  • Latest ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Promo Art Focuses on Doctor Strange and His Variants

Latest ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Promo Art Focuses on Doctor Strange and His Variants

Quite a few bits of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness merchandise have found their way online featuring mostly a look at the supporting cast of the upcoming May release. Yet, there’s also some promotional material that focuses primarily on not one, but three Variants of Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange. So far, the initial trailer teased two different versions of the character from the multiverse with the Defender version getting quite a bit of promotion even though he was only briefly teased in the initial trailer. The big standout is the inclusion of the evil version of Strange that appeared in the trailer’s ending.

The designs are great, especially with how all three versions of the character phase in and out of each other. The third design especially highlights the small differences between the character, such as the white stripe in the hair instead of his usual sides. The evil version also has a bigger beard connected to his goatee. It’ll be interesting to see if we might get other versions besides these three in the film. Plus, who knows who else might have a Variant of their own waiting to meet them in the multiverse. Here’s hoping we might get similar designs once they are revealed in the upcoming film. It’s going to be exciting just how mad the multiverse is going to end up once it releases in May.
