Now-Deleted Tweet May Have Confirmed ‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Renewal

Netflix isn’t the safest streaming service nowadays, as we’ve long waited for any news on the renewal of The Sandman. The series saw one of the biggest growths from its initial viewing over time, and it made many wonders how it hasn’t been given a second season yet. As it turns out, a now-deleted tweet by DC Comics revealed that Netflix’s adaptation of The Sandman was renewed for more episodes.

While DC has taken the tweet down, @OneTakeNews luckily has managed to save it and shared it on Twitter. As of now, it’s unclear why it was deleted, but there’s a chance that perhaps it went online too early as tweets are commonly scheduled in advance. Of course, there’s also the chance it was prepared just in case of a renewal and wasn’t meant to go online.

Whatever may be the reason, it definitely feels right that there’s a second season of this Netflix series. The visual may have also been used to hint at the renewal but we’re going to have to anxiously wait a bit longer until the official announcement drops. So, here’s hoping it just leaked a little early and we can expect an announcement in the near future.

  • Live-Action ‘One Piece’ Series Adds a Key Arlong Park Character

Live-Action ‘One Piece’ Series Adds a Key Arlong Park Character

Those excited about the first live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda‘s One Piece have been facing quite a dry spell since production wrapped up some time ago. We still have no exact release date for the project or any hint on when we might expect the promotion to start. Tudum sadly didn’t offer any real updates and it seems we might have to wait until next year for any official update.

Luckily, some actors have taken to their official CVs to update them with their newly acquired roles that have offered some minor castings during our wait. Now, another has been spotted by @OP_Netflix_Fan as Rory Acton Burnell has revealed he is taking on the role of Captain Nezumi. For those that might not know the character, he is a Marine that has a minor but relevant role in the events of the Arlong Park arc.

There is some surprise to this casting, as there was the opportunity that they’d potentially merge characters for a more consistent storyline throughout the East Blue saga. Most of the storylines don’t directly connect, and it seemed like a great opportunity to have elements from others potentially tie into the events of others. We ourselves theorized that perhaps Nezumi might get skipped for Captain Morgen, but it seems we were off if they still have a role in the story. We still have to see if any official announcements may offer more insight into how they tackle the project.

  • Russo Brothers Tease When You Could Expect a Marvel Return

Russo Brothers Tease When You Could Expect a Marvel Return

Joe and Anthony Russo made quite their mark on the filming market by not only directing two great additions to the Captain America franchise but also directing two of Marvel Studios’ highest-grossing films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers. Endgame. When rumors of what may be the next addition to the franchise might be, many threw their names back into the hat. They even teased how they would tackle an adaptation of Secret Wars throughout various interviews promoting films from their newly established AGBO production studio.

While Shang-Chi director Daniel Destin Cretton took over the first of the Multiverse Saga’s Avengers entries, many thought there is still a chance for them to tackle the finale which is Avengers: Secret Wars. So far, Marvel Studios has yet to announce a director to tackle the project but it seems we should definitely not expect the Russo Brothers to tackle the project according to Joe Russo in an interview with Variety.

We won’t be ready to do anything with Marvel until the end of the decade.

    Joe Russo

It’s no surprise that they won’t have any time until later in the decade, especially with their many deals with Amazon and Netflix currently moving forward in full force. Marvel Studios ended up giving them the opportunity to establish their name in the industry and push forward on their own passion projects. Of course, there’s also always the question of finding the right project that would catch their interest, and perhaps something pops up throughout the coming years that pulls them in eventually.

  • ‘Wakanda Forever’ Producer Reveals ‘Ironheart’s Place on the MCU Timeline

‘Wakanda Forever’ Producer Reveals ‘Ironheart’s Place on the MCU Timeline

There have been many questions surrounding when exactly the upcoming Ironheart series takes place. Not only is Dominique Thorne going to be introduced in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, Wakanda Forever but set photos from the Disney+ spinoff hinted at some new armors she is working on. With no sighting of the one that was recently leaked through tie-in merchandise, it seemed odd that Riri Williams wouldn’t use it in her own series.

Well, luckily producer Nate Moore who worked on Black Panther Wakanda Forever offered some insight into the series and its place on the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. While we don’t yet know exactly when the sequel takes place, it looks like the Disney+ series is a direct continuation rather than a prequel.

Riri is carrying the experience that she had in this movie back home to MIT & there’s some interesting repercussions to her adventures that will set her on a fun course.

    Nate Moore

It’s definitely a curious direction and it does make sense that they’d want to continue her storyline. Plus, the experience of working with the Wakandans could become a helpful tool when she is faced with a new challenge in the form of magic. Many set photos and the confirmation of The Hood as an antagonist do give credence to her taking on a new kind of challenge. Perhaps the new suits we see are prototypes to take on this new threat. Of course, the power source required to run her finalized Ironheart armor may also need some rework which leads to her experimenting. Whatever the direction may be, it remains promising to see what the future of the MCU has in store.

  • ‘No Way Home’ Director Teases Spider-Man’s Unexplored Origin in the MCU

‘No Way Home’ Director Teases Spider-Man’s Unexplored Origin in the MCU

The advantage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s introduction of Spider-Man was that we skipped a big part of his origin. Most viewers already know the story of a kid that was bit by a radioactive spider. So, it made sense not to retread the same ground that the previous two entries did. Yet, it seems that while they had an idea of how they’d set the origin o the character, but never truly worked out the details according to director Jon Watts in Sean O’Connell‘s new book With Great Power.

I mean, God knows there would have to be something not unlike that, probably… But no, I wouldn’t say… I mean, I think he was bitten by a radioactive spider on a field trip. We never talked about that either, but I think that’s what happened.

    Jon Watts

It’s curious that they never set the idea of how he got his powers and does make you wonder if they are keeping it open to potentially explore it in the future. There are ties to the character of Silk that could potentially be explored if they wanted to return to the fateful day of the spider bite. Still, Watts was quite happy not to retread that same ground.

It was just so nice to skip past it and just deal with more with the repercussions… and just explore it from the perspective of someone else finding out about it and having a lot of questions.

    Jon Watts

That freedom definitely gave the trilogy a more distinct storyline, especially with how No Way Home essentially gave the MCU’s Spider-Man his Uncle Ben moment. While some hardcore fans weren’t the biggest fans of the character’s place in the bigger universe, it was a clever take on his mythos that combined older elements from the comics’ earlier days with some modern takes.

  • Ryan Coogler Reserved the Use of Namor Since the First ‘Black Panther’

Ryan Coogler Reserved the Use of Namor Since the First ‘Black Panther’

Namor is about to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and it seems that director Ryan Coogler has pretty much reserved the use of this character since the first entry. In an interview with Slash Film, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore reveals that Coogler asked for the rights to use the character if he got to make a sequel.

Ryan is a huge fan of comic books, and in publishing, Namor and Atlantis often would come in conflict with Wakanda and the Black Panther. And so even as early as in post-production on the first movie, he was like, ‘If we get so lucky, could we maybe, could I just raise my hand and make sure no one uses Namor?’ And luckily, nobody was, and he had a great idea for it very early on. So we started building towards that idea, which I think is really fun.

    Nate Moore

It definitely was hinted in the past that he’s had the character on his mind since the first film. At one point they even tried to include a tease of his arrival in a post-credit sequence that was eventually scrapped. Marvel Studios has been interested in adapting the character for almost 18 years according to Kevin Feige but never found the right idea to bring him to the silvers screen. Luckily, it seems that Coogler‘s patience paid off and no one else had the right pitch before him.

  • ‘Black Panther’s Lupita Nyong’o to Star in ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff

‘Black Panther’s Lupita Nyong’o to Star in ‘A Quiet Place’ Spinoff

While Lupita Nyong’o is busy promoting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a film that also acts as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, she has seemingly already set her eyes on the next major franchise. In a new article by Deadline, they reveal that Nyong’o is in final negotiations to take on the lead role of A Quiet Place prequel titled Day One. Michael Sarnoski of Pig fame is set to direct the film based on an idea by series creator John Krasinky.

There’s no word exactly how this new entry would fit into Krasinski‘s franchise, who directed the first two entries. While it does seem like they still hope to have a third entry for the main franchise out by 2025, this film is likely to establish a cinematic universe for the horror franchise. Emily Blunt and Krasinski are likely not to appear in the film; though its title could hint at them as potential background characters for an Easter egg during the events that would lead to the original films.

It’s definitely a curious direction to establish a cinematic universe based on this horror concept. Ever since Marvel Studios coined the term for its films, many have been chasing that very potential. We’ll see if there truly is enough material to mine out of A Quiet Place to establish a cinematic universe, but the promise of Sarnoski directing the film is already offering something promising.

  • ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Director to Tackle Bad Robots’ ‘Your Name’ Remake

‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Director to Tackle Bad Robots’ ‘Your Name’ Remake

It looks like the upcoming remake of Your Name, based on the animated film by the director Makoto Shinkai, is moving forward with Blindspotting and Raya and the Last Dragon director Carlos López Estrada set to tackle the project for Paramount, Toho, and Bad Robot. He is not only tackled to direct the remake but also to rewrite the current script, which was helmed by Eric Heisserer known for his work on Arrival and Bird Box.

J.J. Abrams is producing the film alongside Genki Kawamura, who worked on the original adaptation, Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen. The original Your Name made $230M in Japan alone and was quite the international hit, which led to the interest in adapting the romance story. Estrada is currently working on an animated documentary and also Disney’s live-action adaptation of Robin Hood.

The remake will follow two teenagers swapping bodies as a disastrous event could change their lives in many ways. Distribution in Japan will be by Toho with Paramount taking the rest of the world. No casting has been done as of yet, as they are still in the middle of the rewriting phase and with Estrada busy for the coming years, it’s unclear how long we’ll have to wait to see the film release in theaters.

  • Marvel and EA Teaming-Up on 2 More Games in Addition to ‘Iron Man’

Marvel and EA Teaming-Up on 2 More Games in Addition to ‘Iron Man’

Just last month, we learned that EA developer Motive is busy working on an Iron Man-focused game. Olivier Proulx returns to the world of Marvel after having worked on the game adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy when there still was a deal with Square-Enix to actively develop games. That deal included multiple titles which so far only ended up with the previously mentioned game and the controversial Marvel’s Avengers. They are seemingly hoping to accomplish the same with Electronic Arts, as they have announced they are working on a multi-title collaboration

Taking to Twitter, Marvel Games has announced a bigger deal with EA which currently means they are working on three games actively for consoles and PC. Iron Man counts as part of that trio of new Marvel titles. There’s no word what the other projects might end up being, but there have also been rumors of a potential Black Panther open-world game that could potentially be part of this deal.

It’s definitely interesting seeing just how many projects Marvel has been actively working on when it comes to gaming titles Insomniac is still busy working on the sequel to Spider-Man after wrapping up with a midquel focused on Miles Morales. They also surprised many when we got a teaser for a Wolverine-focused game that seems to promise a lot of snikt action. Skydance also has a game that sees Captain America team up with Wakanda’s ruler during World War 2. Marvel Snap has also just recently released online, there seems to be a lot more Marvel heading our way.

  • ‘Black Adam’ Passes $250M Worldwide

    ‘Black Adam’ Passes $250M Worldwide

It looks like Black Adam broke the frontloading curse internationally that has seemingly haunted most projects in the superhero genre. Yet, it did face a steeper drop domestically, especially when compared to Dwayne Johnson‘s usual marketability. The film isn’t breaking any records or shifting the hierarchy of power at the box office, but it’s still doing well.

Now, the film has added $39M internationally, which marks a 45% drop and now puts it at $139M. Halloween hasn’t always been a big pull as Black Adam domestically drops by 59% in its second weekend with $27.7M. Now, it’s certainly not as high as the big opening Marvel movies of this year but when compared to Johnson’s projects like Rampage with 44% and San Andreas with 53%, it does make a difference.

Still, the film has now passed $250M which is no small feat and the 10-day gross is ahead of his biggest release with Hobbs and Shaw, which banked off of the success of the Fast and Furious franchise. So, while the drop was bigger than his usual fare, it still is performing well. For now, the film seems to leg out and could end with around $165M domestically once it ends its run in theaters, though its going beyond $400M worldwide may depend on a China release.
