  • First Details on ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ as Third Entry Gets New Title

First Details on ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ as Third Entry Gets New Title

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is what many consider to be one of the best comic book films of all time, and it even took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2019. The film’s sequel will see Miles’s journey continue in the two-part follow-up, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

The sequel was presented at Sony’s CinemaCon panel, with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller taking the stage to announce the third installment, Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. They also teased the scope and scale of the upcoming films.

We told him it would the same size as the last one but we couldn’t. It’s the largest crew of an animated movie ever. This movie has 1,000 people working on it. Don’t tell Tom (Rothman). The number of characters. This movie has 240 characters. Please don’t tell Tom. It takes place in six universes. That’s we couldn’t do the sizzle reel.

Lord and Miller also treated the audience to the first 15 minutes of the movie. The scene in question featured the return of Hailee Steinfeld’s Spider-Gwen alongside Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099 as they face off against the Vulture of Earth-65. The footage also features Issa Rae’s Jessica Drew.

  • Bad Bunny To Lead Sony’s Latest Marvel Film ‘El Muerto’

Bad Bunny To Lead Sony’s Latest Marvel Film ‘El Muerto’

Sony is going all-in on its universe of Marvel characters, continuing to develop films with Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery. The studio just recently released Morbius starring Jared Leto, with Kraven The Hunter starring Aaron Taylor Johnson has recently entered production, and a Madame Web film that will star Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney is currently in the works. Now, it appears the Sony Universe of Marvel Characters is about to get a little bigger as a rather obscure character from Spider-Mans library is set to get his time in the spotlight.

During CinemaCon, Sony announced that popular musical artist Bad Bunny will star as the Marvel character, El Muerto, in a solo film. Bunny made a surprise appearance at the panel following the showcase for his upcoming feature film debut in Bullet Train

Bunny‘s character reportedly was quite popular in test screenings for Bullet Train and the musician himself was eager to find himself a superhero role. In fact, he dove through the world of Spider-Man comics and requested to play the character. The studio was reportedly thrilled with the pitch and is moving quickly on development, although no writer or director has been announced for the project.

Juan Carlos, aka El Muerto, was a luchador with superpowers that went toe to toe with Spider-Man, to the point where he almost unmasked the web-slinger. The two eventually teamed up to fight El Dorado, an oppressor who threatened Muerto.

The film’s release date was announced at the event. El Muerto is set to hit theaters on Jan. 12th, 2024.

  • Reina Hardesty No Longer Attached to ‘The Boys’ Spin-as Series’ Gets Reworked

Reina Hardesty No Longer Attached to ‘The Boys’ Spin-as Series’ Gets Reworked

The Boys spin-off has been in development for quite some time now and looks to be going through a bit of a rework behind the scenes. A while back, it was reported that the show added Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas as co-showrunners following Craig Rosenberg’s exit due to creative differences. The project most recently lost Aimee Carrero and Shane Paul McGhie due to scheduling conflicts. Not just that, but it was revealed that their characters are being reworked with Chance Perdomo being recast in McGhie‘s. role

It seems yet another actor attached to the project has met a similar fate as Reina Hardesty has now exited the spin-off after being attached to the project for over a year now. She departed the project following similar circumstances, with the new showrunners changing her character’s original role. There’s been no word on who will replace the actress, but if this situation follows a similar pattern to the previous recast we could know soon.

This college spin-off was originally going to follow a group of superpowered youth that are all competing at a Vought-run university for the best contracts. Each one trying to prove themselves to become the next Highlander while also navigating the usual hormonal experience that is college. While this project could still be ways away, the upcoming third season of The Boys is set to hit Amazon Prime with a three-episode premiere on June 8th, so everyone can get their fill of outlandish violence.

  • New CinemaCon Poster Offers First Look at ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

New CinemaCon Poster Offers First Look at ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

It’s been some time since the John Wick franchise grace the silver screen. The last entry of the revenge story hit theaters back in May of 2019 with John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Of course, Keanu Reeves is set to reprise the role once again in John Wick: Chapter 4 but we’ve heard very little about the project. Luckily, a poster has found its way online offering our first look at the fourth entry.

While it isn’t much, it is our first look at Reeve‘s return as Wick. He still has his trademark hair and beard, but he does seem a bit more disheveled from the last entry. Considering how that story ended, it’s no surprise that he might not have had time to visit a barber. This film and John Wick: Chapter 5 were originally set to film back-to-back but due to the ongoing pandemic those plans were abandoned by Lionsgate.

Chapter 4 was originally intended to release next month but was delayed by an entire year for unknown reasons. It’s possible the studio wants to hold it so that the fifth film in the franchise has time to shoot so that they can release the films back-to-back in 2023 and 2024. Yet, we haven’t gotten an update on the production start on the fifth entry.

Many details for the film such as plot and characters remain under wraps but the film will see the return of Reeves alongside Ian Mcshane, Lance Reddick, and Laurence Fishburne. The film has added quite a few names like Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, Rina Sawayama, and Shamier Anderson.

  • Warner Bros. Discovery Reportedly Considering a Theatrical Release for ‘Batgirl’ After All

Warner Bros. Discovery Reportedly Considering a Theatrical Release for ‘Batgirl’ After All

The DC Extended Universe is in a bit of a workshop period, as the shared universe is reportedly getting an overhaul in the near future. It’s certainly a fitting timing given that The Flash will reportedly set the DCEU on a new path and see a new timeline with Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne now replacing Ben Affleck‘s version in this new universe. Along with Keaton comes a new Batgirl, one that many fans are excited to see. New reports may hint that we could possibly catch the film on the big screen after all.

Puck is reporting that Warner Brothers Discovery is debating whether or not Batgirl should go theatrical. The film is currently set to be an HBO Max exclusive film as the company looks to strengthen its streaming content. The recent success of The Batman looks to be influencing this decision as it dominates on HBO Max after pulling in over $750 million in total at the box office.

This would not be a decision that’s out of the ordinary as Warner Brothers made a similar move last summer with another DC film. Originally announced as an HBO Max exclusive film, Angel Manuel Soto‘s Blue Beetle is set to hit theaters in August of 2023. It was an exciting announcement as it also moves away from relegating smaller projects to streaming-only releases.

This would definitely be a decision that would delight a lot of fans similar to what happened to Blue Beetle. The film has the star power to carry a theatrical release and draw the crowds with Leslie Grace, Keaton, and the possible big-screen return of Brendan Fraser. The film could make for the perfect Holiday 2023 release as it is set during Christmas and Warner Brothers Discovery currently has no DC films dated following the release of Blue Beetle in august.

  • First ‘The Boys’ Season 3 Synopsis Teases A New Anti-Supe Weapon

First ‘The Boys’ Season 3 Synopsis Teases A New Anti-Supe Weapon

The Boys is definitely one of Amazon Primes’ most popular original series. It adapts the comic book series of the very same name written by Garth Ennis. The series’ third season is set to return on June 8th with a three-episode premiere. The rest of the eight episodes will release weekly on the streamer, similar to what they did with the second season. As the debut gets closer and closer, we finally have a synopsis that gives us a bit more context on what to expect this upcoming season.

It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.

When we last left the gang they’d been recruited by the government to do some similar business by the books, keeping the Supes in check. This season will see the playing field a bit leveled as it was previously revealed that Billy Butcher will be getting some abilities of his own. The interesting piece of this synopsis is the “Anti-supe weapon”, which seems like it’ll be causing quite the fuss amongst the characters.

This season will see the debut of many new Supes from the comics like Crimson Countess, Blue Hawk, and the long-awaited arrival of Soldier Boy, who is the very first superpowered individual and is set to be played by Jensen Ackles. Somehow he’s made a mysterious return after being presumed dead. Fans will have to wait just a little longer before what will surely be another bloody good time.

  • ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s Ray Porter on Why Darkseid Never Returned to Earth

‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s Ray Porter on Why Darkseid Never Returned to Earth

2021 saw the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a film that definitely caused some ruckus upon its initial release back in 2017. The theatrical cut of the film by Joss Whedon saw many crucial elements and character arcs cut in order to meet a two-hour studio-mandated runtime. One element, in particular, that was cut revolved around the Lord of Apokolips himself, Darkseid. Reduced to only a few mentions within the film the character was nowhere to be seen until Snyder got back to work.

One thing that’s still causing a lot of folks to scratch their heads, even a year after the release of the film, was how Darkseid did not remember that the anti-life equation was on Earth. Following a brutal defeat by the tribes of man and their allies, the then-called Uxas and his army of Parademons were chased back to Apokolips, and simply never returned. Luckily, actor Ray Porter, who lent his voice to the character, recently sat down with FandomWire to chat where he gave his take on the subject.

Consider the fact that he’s turned a hundred thousand worlds to dust; it was so long ago that he found this equation and then it was taken from him in battle and he always wanted to ‘re-find’ it. We are talking so many thousands of years, so many planets, universes, and possible Earths. Uxas, the person who became Darkseid has also changed so much in that long timespan. So, for someone whose knowledge spans so much, maybe the knowledge got lost in the vastness that it was on this Earth in particular. And then, Steppenwolf, of all people approaches him about this.

    Ray Porter

One day we may see Darkseid return to DC Extended Universe but it looks like it could be a while before he makes his way back to earth. For now, all we get is his short appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

  • RUMOR: Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù In Talks To Play John Constantine

RUMOR: Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù In Talks To Play John Constantine

The DC Extended Universe looks to be branching out into the supernatural side of the mythos with J.J. Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot leading the charge. A few years ago, it was announced that Abrams and company would be developing several of DC’s Justice League Dark characters through several projects such as Zatanna, Madame X and Constantine.

Over the past week, news on the Constantine project has begun filtering out and it seems it will be the first to get rolling, which means they need a John Constantine. The Illuminerdi is reporting that british-Nigerian actor Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù, best known for his work on Gangs of New York and His House, is in talks to star as the and occult detective. Should he land the role,Dìrísù will be the third actor to wear the trench coat, following in the footsteps of Keanu Reeves and Matt Ryan.

The first story details on the project emerged just a few days ago, revealing that the series will see the streets of London filled with the supernatural, body horror, and urban action. It will see Constantine’s whole word changed when he meets a young girl that pulls him into the dark world of the occult. The series is currently casting for this girl, only known as “Akara” who could be Astra Logue, a young girl Constantine tried to save but failed, causing her to be damned to hell by the demon Nergal.

We will continue to track this developing project.

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Merchandise Could Hint at Gorr’s Symbiote Connection

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Merchandise Could Hint at Gorr’s Symbiote Connection

After much anticipation from fans, the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder finally arrived, bringing us our very first look at Taika Waititi’s next adventure with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. The film will see Thor up against one of his most dangerous foes: Gorr the God Butcher, an alien that wields a powerful Necrosword and travels the universe killing gods. There’s still some uncertainty as to how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will adapt the character due to some legal issues regarding some aspects, but some merchandise may hint at some accurate origins.

Gorr lived a tragic life, having lost everyone he loved most in his life and came to believe that there were no gods. Gorr was proven wrong when he stumbled upon a battle between the elder god Knull and other god who begged Gorr for helped. Gorr, who was enraged that gods did exist and had let his family perish, bonded with Knull’s Necrosword known as All-Black and slayed the other god. All-Black was the first symbiote, created by Knull and used to behead a celestial whose head ultimately became Knowhere.

Check Out Christian Bale's Gorr in 'Thor: Love and Thunder' Legends Figures | The Mary Sue

All-Black left Knull and bonded with Gorr, allowing him to travel the universe slaying gods with the symbiote blade. This is where those pesky legal issues come in because as we all know, the film rights to the symbiotes and everything else pertaining to Spider-Man belong to Sony, making it very difficult to continue that connection between Gorr and Knull. Marvel Studios has run into these issues before. For Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2, the studio made a deal with Fox that allowed them to use Ego.

Some new merchandise may hint that Gorr could still be wielding All-Black and that there could indeed still be symbiotes somewhere in the MCU. A new Funko POP! for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder wave of figures shows Gorr wielding a sword and levitating via some sort of black liquid substance which looks very similar to how symbiotes are traditionally depicted.

Gorr Pop!, Thor: Love and Thunder

It still remains unknown just what exactly Gorr is wielding, but it must have some connection to what’s beneath the figure. The only details we have on his weapon are from the back of Marvel Legends figure for the character only describing it as “A strange and terrifying weapon.” It’s entirely possible that Marvel and Sony have worked out a deal to allow for the story of the symbiotes, continuing on their multiversal story begun in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw a piece of a symbiote left in the MCU. Could Gorr be working with something similar? We may not have answers until Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8th!

  • ‘World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’ Expansion Announced

‘World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’ Expansion Announced

Back in 2004, the gaming world would change as we know it with the release of the MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The game has been supported by Blizzard since its launch with new expansions every few years to expand the lore of the game and allow players to continue onwards with their characters. Just two years ago we saw the release of Shadowlands, the expansion that had players travel into the afterlife to face Sylvanas Windrunner and the Jailer, as that storyline wraps up another is already on the way.

In a Livestream reveal event, the folks at Blizzard revealed the ninth expansion for the game, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. It will see the Dragon Isles revealed after being hidden away for over 10,000 years ago. The expansion will allow players to travel to the ancestral home of the dragonflights, the Dragon Isles, and explore the lands with each island connected to one of the dragon aspects.

Dragonflight will introduce a new race to the game with the Dracthyr. They will be a Worgen-like race with the ability to change between a dragon form and a more humanoid form. Players will be able to choose their allegiance similar to the Pandaren. The race will be quite unique compared to others, only being able to be one class, the evoker. The evoker is a class that will allow players to be mid-range fighters or play as a healer.

The expansion will also introduce a unique mount experience where each player will be able to obtain a Dragon, which you can customize and become more skilled in maneuvers as you continue hunting down glyphs to improve your skills.

Dragonflight will also bring an overhaul to previously existing systems within the game like the talent system, professors, and a new HUD interface. Players will be able to gain talent points and use them to level up within two different talent trees, one that offers utility skills for your class and another that offers abilities that will strengthen your offensive and healing powers.

It’s not a new expansion without an all-new level cap, with players now able to reach level 70. Along with the level cap comes brand-new dungeons like Neltharus, unknown chambers of Uldaman, and the life pools of the Red Dragonflight. They will be joined by a brand new raid, where players can explore the prison of the primal incarnates, where they’ll have to stop them before they can be unleashed against the dragon aspects.

Blizzard has opened up a beta-opt-in for those who are interested in testing out the new expansion. No release date has been set for Dragonflight just yet.
