Production on ‘THE BATMAN’ Seemingly Resuming Soon

Months after production was brought to a screeching halt in March over the growing concerns of the Covid-19 epidemic, it seems that reports of The Batman resuming production in early September are accurate as actors and those behind the cameras seem to be prepping on all fronts to get filming rolling again. The film reportedly only has three months worth of material left to film and they hope to be down by the end of the year to meet their October 1st, 2021 release date.

Crews seem to be back at the Cardington Airfield where within one of the sheds is a Cathedral set that was built for the film and can be seen in the recent trailer. Outside along the airfield, crews were spotted unloading vehicles resembling the newest Batmobile out of a van. The crew was seemingly test driving the vehicles near set probably to assess if any disrepair had come to them after months in storage and make sure they were ready to film.

Matt Reeves recently made an appearance at the highly anticipated Fandome Event, where he got into the what inspired him in this project and what he saw in these characters that made him want to dig deep and really flesh them out and the city around them, almost one living thing. The panel was by far one of, if not the most well received with the teaser released at the event racking up a stunning 19 million views.

    UPDATE

Reports of The Batman resuming filming in early September have seemingly come true and it seems they’re ready to finish work on the first installment on Pattinson‘s debut as the caped crusader. Actor Alex Ferns, who will portray Commissioner Pete Savage in the film, recently tweeted out about how good it felt to finally get back to set. This lead to speculation on what set he is referring to. With the film having abruptly shutdown production in March, it’s unlikely that Ferns finished filming his scenes. Ferns can be seen in the recent teaser trailer to the film at the 0:55 mark, next to Gordon seemingly addressing the press on the incidents that transpired at the same funeral shown in the teaser.

The Batman will be directed by Matt Reeves and is set to release on October 1st, 2021, the film will star Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrel, and Andy Serkis.

  • ‘THE SUICIDE SQUAD’: Who is The Thinker?

‘THE SUICIDE SQUAD’: Who is The Thinker?

With the roster for James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad stacked with wildly disparate and relatively unknown DC Comics villains, we thought it would be great to get to know each of them in 400 words or less. Don’t get too attached after reading though, because there’s a good bet most of them won’t be around for the sequel! It’s time to meet and greet the members of Task Force X!

Clifford Devoe, one of the original members of the injustice society, first appeared in All-Flash #12 1943. Devoe was a failed lawyer in Gotham city that quickly realized that if these criminals he worked with on the daily had just as much brain as they did brawn, that they could be much more successful. Devoe began helping those low life thugs but was eventually thwarted by the golden age flash, Jay Garrick.

Devoe joined Task Force X on the same mission that Weasel did, in the crossover between the Suicide Squad and the Doom Patrol, in which both teams are attempting to get to Hawk before one another. Devoe is supposedly killed after having his throat slit by the Weasel, but is later revealed to still be alive but suffering from brain cancer as a side effect of his helmet.

After months of speculation of what role Peter Capaldi would be playing that would require him to shave his head, it was confirmed that the twelfth Doctor himself would be none other than Clifford Devoe, a.k.a the Thinker. Capaldi will sport the characters iconic New 52 look, swapping the old thinking cap for bolts that protrude from his head and seemingly begin to spark while hes thinking. The New 52 version of the character drains energy from his body when he uses his incredible brain power, speeding up the aging process so it’ll be interesting to see if they take that route with his abilites.

    Murphy’s Multiverse Dead Pool Predictions

    Predicted Chances of Survival: 80%

Predicted Manner of Death: if the comics have anything to say, he could possibly be killed by another member of the squad such as The Weasel. Could see him outsmarting Waller and the team and faking his death, coming back as future antagonist.

  • ‘THE SUICIDE SQUAD’: Who is Peacemaker?

‘THE SUICIDE SQUAD’: Who is Peacemaker?

With the roster for James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad stacked with wildly disparate and relatively unknown DC Comics villains, we thought it would be great to get to know each of them in 400 words or less. Don’t get too attached after reading though, because there’s a good bet most of them won’t be around for the sequel! It’s time to meet and greet the members of Task Force X!

Paving the way for peace at any cost, Peacemaker a.k.a Christopher Smith first appeared in ‘Fightin 5’ #40 in 1966. Peacemaker was not an original DC character, and was acquired by DC along with Blue Beetle, The Question, and Captain Atom after Charlton Comics closed in the 1980’s. Peacemaker, along with the other newly acquired Charlton characters, were originally intended to be used in Alan Moores 1985 limited series ‘Watchmen’ but was changed when DC executives realized they wouldn’t be able to use them in the future, making Peacemaker the basis for The Comedian. The Charlton comics characters were brought into the DC universe via the 1985 mini series ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’

Peacemaker was never an established character on any Suicide Squad roster and 2021’s The Suicide Squad will be the characters first appearance on the team, it’ll interesting to see how he does on a team of known criminals and how he ended up on that team and in Wallers grasp. With the upcoming film, the character will more than likely end up on a new run that’ll most likely feature a similar roster to the films.

With Peacemaker set to make his live action debut in 2021, the character will be brought to life by none other than John Cena, wrestler turned actor these past couple years, having appeared . Cena explained the character as a “Douchey Captain America” and explained by Gunn as “The guy who beleives in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill along the way”. Peacemaker sports an incredibly comic accurate look from the metal helmet to the swallow on his chest.

    Murphy’s Multiverse Dead Poll Predictions

    Predicted Chances of Survival: 45%

Predicted Manner of Death: I can see Peacemaker dying in combat, potentially sacrificing himself for the sake of the team, or following a more comic accurate approach and crashes a helicopter in the process of trying to do some real damage against their enemy.

  • ‘THE SUICIDE SQUAD’: Who is Weasel?

With the roster for James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad stacked with wildly disparate and relatively unknown DC Comics villains, we thought it would be great to get to know each of them in 400 words or less. Don’t get too attached after reading though, because there’s a good bet most of them won’t be around for the sequel! It’s time to meet and greet the members of Task Force X!

John Monroe was a sad and lonely student at Stanford University where he was received disparaging comments from his peers in which they dubbed him “Weasel”. Monroe went on to become a professor at Vandemeer University where became worried about his chances of tenure due to the fact that some of his previous classmates had become members of the board. John Monroe went on to don the Weasel suit, exhibiting great agility and hand to hand combat with a suit that came equipped with razor sharp claws. Weasel went on to kill those who he saw as a danger to his potential future at the university, when Martin Stein arrived at the university as the new physics teacher, Monroe had found his next target. When Weasel attacked Stein, he was met with the hot headed hero, Firestorm, the conjoined Stein and Raymond took down Monroe and locked him up.

Weasel was later recruited to the squad in March 1988 in a crossover between the Doom Patrol and the Suicide Squad where both teams were after the hero Hawk, who had been captured by Sandinistas. When the mission started going south and Weasel attempted to kill the Thinker, Rick Flag used the Thinkers helmet to try and get the situation under control and was coerced into killing the Weasel, He was not missed.

While at first many may not recognize the man behind the eyes, Sean Gunn is no stranger to a good mo-cap performance, having been the on set Rocket Raccoon for both Guardians of The Galaxy films, both directed by James Gunn as well.

The Character sport a semi accurate look to his comic counterpart, with a much more frail and cracked out figure with a set of eyes that would anyone uneasy to be around.

    Murphy’s Multiverse Dead Poll Predictions

    Predicted Chances of Survival: 0%

Predicted Manner of Death: I fully expect him to attempt to betray the team and be killed within the first few minutes of his freedom, like dead on sight

  • ‘The SUICIDE SQUAD’: Who is TDK?

With the roster for James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad stacked with wildly disparate and relatively unknown DC Comics villains, we thought it would be great to get to know each of them in 400 words or less. Don’t get too attached after reading though, because there’s a good bet most of them won’t be around for the sequel! It’s time to meet and greet the members of Task Force X!

One of the bigger mysteries of Gunn’s The Suicide Squad was that of TDK’s reveal, otherwise known as The Detachable Kid, or a renamed Arm-Fall-Off-Boy. The character first appeared in Secret Origins Vol 2 #46 in 1989. He attempted to try out to become a member of the future band of heroes, the Legion of Superheroes, a team that featured characters such as Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic boy. Arm-Fall-Off-Boy was sadly not welcomed into the Legion of Superheroes.

The character has never actually appeared on the Suicide Squad and will make his debut on the team if Gunn’s TDK is indeed a version of the character. Having originally been from the future, it’ll be interesting to see what else has been changed about the character.

TDK will be potrayed by the one and only Nathan Fillio who is no stranger to James Gunn, having been in many of his movies even if the role never made the final cut. Fillion will sport a revamped look for the character with a green headpiece and vest that will make it easy to detach and re-attach limbs while in combat.

    Murphy’s Multiverse Dead Pool Predictions

    Predicted Chances of Survival: 0%

Predicted Manner of Death: Overwhelmed by enemys while disarmed, Beaten to death with his own arms, arms will quite possibly be used as weapons by another squad member after his demise (Probably Harley)

  • FanDome: Static Shock Movie In Development

FanDome: Static Shock Movie In Development

With many announcements and surprises flooding out of Fandome, many wondered what the planned secret DC Comics panel would focus on. It was revealed to be a relaunch of the Milestone comic brand. This comic line would focus once again on a roster of under-represented superheroes from the DC Universe. This is great after it had been dormant for more than two decades. In the panel, one fan asked the question if any of these characters would return to the silver screen.

In response to this question, it was revealed by Reginald Hudlin that there had been serious talks with Warner Brothers and Jim Lee. They wanted to get fan-favorite Static Shock a potential theatrical release. There are also talks with WB Animation to bring these iconic Milestone characters to life. Static Shock will also get a new comic line that starts in 2021 alongside the return of Milestone.

Fans are gonna have to wait a little bit longer for more information. It still seems to be in the early stages of discussions. They also seem to be considering bringing it bak as an animated feature, especially as the original Static Shock voice actor Phil LaMarr was part of the panel.

  • Fandome: Idris Elba Confirmed As Bloodsport in ‘The Suicide Squad’

Fandome: Idris Elba Confirmed As Bloodsport in ‘The Suicide Squad’

When Gunn began development on his sequel to David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad, many wondered who would return for Task Force X latest outing, especially the movies leading stars. When it was confirmed that few would return such as Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Joel Kinnaman it was reported that Will Smith would not be returning in the sequel and that Idris Elba had been cast in what was to be Smiths role. Initially it was believed that Elba would taking up the role of Deadshot but that was soon revealed to not be the case and the role was a mystery.

Speculation began with the obvious choice of Bronze Tiger, but rumors began to swirl of Elba being Adrian Chase, aka the Vigilante. Today it was revealed at the panel that Elba will indeed portray the villanous Bloodsport, a lesser known mercenary from the DC universe and the mantle has been taken up by multiple characters.

The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6th, 2021. If you missed the first one, there will be two encore screenings of the panel on the DC Fandome website.

  • Ben Affleck Returning in ‘THE FLASH’ Alongside Michael Keaton

Ben Affleck Returning in ‘THE FLASH’ Alongside Michael Keaton

Back in June, it was reported that Michael Keaton would once again wear the cape and cowl. He was going to star alongside Ezra Miller in the upcoming 2022 The Flash film. Andy Muschietti is currently set to direct. The film has seen many delays and directors. Keaton joining the film was a good sign he would explore the multiverse. Now it’s being reported that another previous crusader would be jumping into the fray. To the delight of many fans, Ben Affleck is set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne alongside Keaton and Miller.

Affleck last donned the cowl in 2017’s Justice League. He originally made his debut in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. After months of back and forth, rumors swirled that Affleck would continue the role for his solo outing. He was even planned to direct it. Sadly, he eventually announced that he no longer had the passion and the drive to play the character. This led to speculation if they would just recast him in the DCEU. It was announced a few months later that Robert Pattinson would be the next actor to assume the mantle in 2021’s The Batman. It seems that Affleck only recently agreed to return after seeing the script for the first time just last week. It is uncertain how much he will appear in the film. Michael Keaton is said to have quite a ‘substantial’ role in the film.

Muschietti revealed this casting in an interview with Vanity Fair. This is just two days before DC’s big FanDome event.

“He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Afflecks Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than you think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”

The Flash is currently set to release June 2nd, 2022, and is currently unknown if the ongoing pandemic has delayed any potential production start date.

  • ‘THE BATMAN’ Set to Resume Production in September

Earlier this year productions across the world were forced to halt all filming and development, The Batman was not any different. Confirmed by Matt Reeves via Twitter that the film had shut down and wouldn’t resume until it was safe for all involved behind and in front of the camera. Having only shot about 25% of the film, everyone involved wasn’t sure how long it would be until they could get back to production and how this would affect the film.

It’s now being reported that the The Batman is set to jumpstart production once again in early September at WB Studios in Leavesden. This news comes shortly after rumors began to circulate that the film would be scrapping many of its planned locations and filming entirely on sets. The film is reported to have about three months of material left to film and hope to finish shooting by the end of 2020.

The Batman is set to release on October 1st 2021, after suffering a delay due to the ongoing pandemic when it was initially set to release on June 25th, 2021. The film will star Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader himself, he’s joined by Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrel. The film is also set to have quite a large presence at the August 22nd Fandome event with both Pattinson and Reeves in attendance, with Reeves promising a new never before seen look at the film.
