  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Still Working on VFX Ahead of Release

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Still Working on VFX Ahead of Release

Just after breaking the final runtime for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Collider’s Steven Weintraub shared some additional information on Twitter which adds a curious detail to its current development. There were earlier reports about a potential runtime circling around, but big-budget films sometimes cut it close with releases. Turns out, No Way Home is in no way different from other blockbusters as its final VFX shots aren’t expected to get released until next week. The latest trailer did tease quite an effects-heavy film which will require an extensive bit of work.

Of course, as Weintraub points out, this isn’t uncommon in the industry and doesn’t mean the quality will suffer. Of course, it’s not great that the people involved with the project are probably doing quite an extensive amount of overtime to great the project finished in time. Here’s hoping that the team manages to find time to take it easy afterward and can be proud of the work they put in to bring the threequel to life on the silver screen.

  • ‘No Way Home’s Will Have the Longest Runtime for an MCU ‘Spider-Man’ Film

‘No Way Home’s Will Have the Longest Runtime for an MCU ‘Spider-Man’ Film

Not too long ago, first reports have found their way online about Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s runtime. It was hinted that it would run for two hours and 28 minutes. There is the chance they are still adapting parts of the film ahead of its release in a few weeks, and a new report by Collider has found its way online highlighting that it’ll be 2 hours and 30 minutes. So, it seems that they may have extended the cut slightly. So, it stands at 150 minutes which is ahead of Homecoming‘s 133 minutes and Far From Home‘s 129 minutes.

Collider highlights that the 150-minute mark does include the credits and it’s not known how many post-credit sequences might be included. To keep a tight lid on any eventual spoilers, there won’t be any press screenings until December 13th, which is the same day as its Los Angeles premiere. There are rumors of an early screening taking place for the initial 40 minutes of the film that offered a first taste of the upcoming release.

  • EXCLUSIVE: First Details on Pete Davidson and James DeMarco Horror Film ‘The Home’

EXCLUSIVE: First Details on Pete Davidson and James DeMarco Horror Film ‘The Home’

While the headlines right now surrounding Pete Davidson are about his seemingly new dating life with Kim Kardashian, he has also been busy with quite a few projects throughout the last few years. he made a name for himself during his time on Saturday Night Live, he’s also appeared in quite a few films, including the recent release of James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad. He’s also going to appear in the upcoming film Meet Cute and has a horror film in the works. Luckily, we can exclusively share the first details on his upcoming project The Home.

Davidson will take on the main role of Max, who is given a community service assignment at a local retirement home, which also explains the film’s title. The elderly residents are surprisingly full of life and he believes he may have gotten his hands on a good gig. But, it is a horror film after all, something far sinister is lurking in the shadows.

The Purge veteran James DeMonaco wrote the script alongside actor Adam Cantor, who is also going to have a role in the project. It is already in production in New York and New Jersey but is eyeing a production end in January or at the latest in March of 2022. It’ll be interesting to see what a dark and sinister retirement home might offer in the form of a horror film. It sounds like a similar concept that M. Night Shyamalan explored in The Visit, but on a much bigger scale. So, nightmares are certainly abound once the project releases.

  • Original ‘Little Mermaid’ Filmmakers Developing an Animated ‘Metal MeN’ Film

Original ‘Little Mermaid’ Filmmakers Developing an Animated ‘Metal MeN’ Film

Animation has always been one of DC’s stronger areas, with many of the straight-to-DVD animated films becoming instant classics for the brand, and adapting some of the most beloved stories and characters. With League of Super-Pets set to hit theaters next year, it seems DC and WB are ready to bring these animated stories to the big screen, with another animated film already in development.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Warner Animation Group is currently developing an animated film focused on the Metal Men. They are a group of superheroes from DC Comics that debuted in the early ’60s. The film was written by Ron Clements, Celeste Ballard, and John Musker. They are best known for their work on many classic animated Disney films such as Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Princess and The Frog, Hercules, and Moana. They are also eyeing to direct the project and will produce alongside Craig Peck.

The Metal Men made their debut back in 1962 and were created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru. Dr. William Magnus developed the six highly advanced AI robots known as Gold, Iron, Lead, Mercury, Tin, and Platinum whose personalities and abilities mirrored that of their namesakes. The team briefly had a series of animated shorts that aired exclusively on Cartoon Network, but since then the characters really haven’t been in the spotlight. The willingness of WB and DC to explore characters like the Metal Men, even if it is in animation is very promising for the future. The animation will allow for these characters to be accurately brought to life and live up to their full potential.

  • EXCLUSIVE: ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ Author Hopes to Adapt the Entire Series into Disney + Films

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ Author Hopes to Adapt the Entire Series into Disney + Films

The all-new animated film Diary of a Wimpy Kid is now streaming on Disney Plus (you can read our review of the film right here!). The film is an adaptation of the first book in the popular children’s series by author Jeff Kinney. Kinney, who wrote the screenplay for the new movie and also served as an executive producer, talked with Murphy’s Multiverse’s own Arlyn Murphy this week about the new film.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is served in an easy-to-digest 56-minute runtime full of heart and humor and some great characters. An adaptation of the second book in the series, Rodrick Rules, is already in development as a sequel that is planned for a 2022 release, but we could just be seeing the tip of the iceberg in terms of the books being adapted for Disney Plus. Murphy asked Kinney if he had plans to continue to adapt the series (the 16th entry to the series, Big Shot, was just released at the end of October), and Kinney was optimistic about the prospects:

I hope so. And I hope we can make them longer, too. The Rodrick Rules one is a little longer than the first one. I really hope we get to do lots of these stories because we’re really trying to do a good job and we’re not just spitting them out. We’re sort of really taking our time in crafting them and I love that so I hope we can tell lots of stories.

As Murphy noted in her review of the film, the new adaptation makes some emotional additions to the book. With Kinney overseeing the projects, we know the stories of Greg Heffley and his family and friends are in good hands.

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Diary of a Wimpy’ Kid Author Has No Plans to End the Beloved Series

It took author Jeff Kinney nearly 8 years to get his first book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, published in 2007. Since then, the author has continued to kick out sequels at a prolific rate with at least one Wimpy Kid book being released each year since. The first book was adapted into a live-action film in 2010 and now Kinney worked with Disney to bring the familiar animation style to Disney Plus in the all-new short film Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Arlyn Murphy sat down with Kinney to talk about the new movie and the future of book series. Murphy and Kinney talked about the inspiration behind the book series and the process in getting the first one to print. When asked if he had any end in mind for Greg’s story, Kinney’s reply indicated that we should plan on many more stories about the adventures of Greg Heffley and friends.

Yeah, I was joking on Twitter…somebody said “When will the series end?” and I said, “It will end when I end.” And I got like 100,000 likes to that and I was like, “Oh man, I shouldn’t have said that!” But that is how I feel. A good cartoonist, I think, sticks with their property. I think we all feel sad when a cartoon character goes away, you know, so I’m gonna do this for a while if I can.

Kinney’s love for the characters he has created comes through not only in the novels but in the new film. His message of perseverance in the face of challenges is a great one and his success shows the power of betting on yourself. The most recent entry in the Wimpy Kid series, Big Shot, is available now at Amazon and wherever books are sold.

You can read Murphy’s review of the new animated film here and check back at Murphy’s Multiverse for more coverage of the movie and interviews with Kinney and the film’s lead, Brady Noon.

  • RUMOR: ‘Mortal Kombat 12’ To Be A Ported Version of MK11 With 50 Playable Characters

RUMOR: ‘Mortal Kombat 12’ To Be A Ported Version of MK11 With 50 Playable Characters

This year saw the end of Netherrealm Studios’ support for Mortal Kombat 11, much to the dismay of loyal fans such as myself, in order for the studio to focus on their next big IP. Rumors have swirled that the next IP was either going to be Injustice 3 or Mortal Kombat 12 but the recent word on the street is saying that it is indeed the next Mortal Kombat game with a twist.

According to an anonymous yet very specific Reddit post from 2 months ago, Mortal Kombat 12 is purported to be a Greatest Hits celebration of the recent trilogy, combining the roster from all three games (minus the licensed guest characters) into one big 50-character roster. The user claims that the game will essentially be a ported version of MK11 but simply with a ton of more characters including unplayable bosses. That likely means the game won’t go through a massive overhaul as each installment does and will have the same mechanics as MK11. Returning MK11 characters are said to play the exact same way, down to the movesets.

Now, normally a post like this isn’t of note in a sea of random internet leaks but a post from 4Chan that surfaced today is now making the same claim; that MK12 is indeed going to be a mishmash of the latest trilogy running on the same MK11 engine. Both posts claim that the game will be revealed next week in the Game Awards.

As with any anonymous internet rumor, it’s always good to take this with a grain of salt but the story is nonetheless very interesting. MK11 was an absolute blockbuster of a game, selling higher than any fighting game on the market. That Warner Bros. would just opt to make another version of it isn’t necessarily surprising. There are other details in each of those posts that aren’t mentioned here that talk about the delays and what happened to rumored Kombat Pack 3 for MK11.

  • PlayStation Working on New Service to Rival Xbox Game Pass

PlayStation Working on New Service to Rival Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass has changed the gaming landscape in big ways. Their subscriptions have grown at an astonishing level and offer players the opportunity to stream their favorite games without requiring a physical copy. While PlayStation originally used their PlayStation Now service to rival it, it wasn’t quite on par with the offerings. Microsoft proudly announced that many of their upcoming new releases will be available Day 1 on their subscriptions service. Well, it seems Sony is readying its own system to compete in the new market.

The always reliable Jason Schreier shared an exclusive on Bloomberg about this new service. It is currently in development under the codename “Spartacus” and will get established as a fusion of PlayStation Now and PS Plus. You’ll receive access to modern and classic games for a monthly fee if everything goes according to plan with a release in Spring. It seems that PS Plus will still remain due to it being necessary for online play.

So, the plan is that it’s available with three tiers. PS Plus covers the base one, PS4 and PS5 releases are in the second one with classic games getting included in the final tier. It’ll be interesting to see if it retains its Spartacus naming, or they might simply use the PS Plus as the naming benchmark. Here’s hoping we get a clearer picture and announcement in the coming months to see what the future has in store for Sony players.

  • First Look at ‘Hawkeye’ Funko Pop for Echo

First Look at ‘Hawkeye’ Funko Pop for Echo

It looks like Echo is finally getting her own Funko Pop, as another Disney+ tradition continues with the latest ongoing Marvel Studios show, Hawkeye. She will be joined by an Amazon Exclusive Funko and it shows off her black jacket. It actually highlights a detail that some might’ve missed, as one of her iconic symbols was on her leather jacket. We briefly see it in the episode but it’s not as pronounced plus you can see it was inspired by a tattoo her father had.

It’s always exciting to get new Funkos and it makes you wonder why we haven’t gotten one for Jack Duquesne or even Kate’s mother. Perhaps we get something later down the line as we find out more about their inclusion, especially the former. It would be fun to see him in a Swordmaster-inspired costume at one point in the series. Also, there is the tease of the mysterious uncle who seems like a very likely add to everyone’s personal Funko collection.
