    Chloe Bennet Denies Involvement in ‘Secret Invasion’

    Add Chloe Bennet to the long list of actors and actresses who have denied their rumored involvement in Marvel Studios’ projects over the years. Bennett took to social media, seemingly unprompted, to let her fans know that despite their deepest desires, she would not be returning to the role of Daisy Johnson, aka, Quake, in the Disney Plus streaming series Secret Invasion.

    Bennet rose to fame in the role over seven seasons of ABC’s non-canonical series, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and fans have been pining to see her character cross over into the MCU. Bennet joins the ranks of actors and actresses such as Tatiana Maslany, Paul Rudd, Andrew Garfield, Charlie Cox and Allison Brie in denying their involvement in MCU projects; ironically, while fans are often willing to take most of these actors at their word despite evidence to the contrary, it seems that, in this case, fans are going to Fox Mulder route and choosing to want to believe rather than take Bennet’s word for it.

    While Secret Invasion is going to go heavy on the espionage-both Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke are playing spies and there are at least 3 other big spy roles in the series-at this point it looks Quake won’t be joining the party. Fortunately fans who want to see more of Bennet in the role can always head to Netflix to rewatch the series.

    Marvel Studios Secret Invasion will start production soon and is expected to stream on Disney Plus in the Fall of 2022.

    ‘Peacemaker’ Will Feature Dance Number Opening Credits

    The Suicide Squad was quite the hit with fans and critics alike, with many praising Gunns writing and character work. With so many memorable moments and characters, fans are eager to get more of the newest characters within the DCEU. Well, many fans will get their wish, just not as they expect. Peacemaker is the first spinoff series for the DCEU, centering around John Cenas Christopher Smith, a character whose quest for peace will continue on in an eight-episode-long first season.

    Virtually nothing is known about the first season of Peacemaker, aside from that he’s gotta save the world, alongside John Economos and Emilia Harcourt. The cast and crew recently made an appearance at the Television Critics Association. The panel showcased some of the series first footage along with the opening credits, which definitely aren’t what many expected them to be. Each episode of Peacemaker will open with a Dance Number for the opening sequence, a sequence that act actor Robert Patrick reportedly had the most fun with.

    While this seems a bit unorthodox for the genre, it’s certainly something out of the left field for Gunn to pull. This will definitely set the tone for what how you can expect the season to go, especially with such an eccentric patriot like Peacemaker, and let’s hope he works better with this team than the last one.

    All eight episodes of Peacemaker were written by James Gunn, who directed five of the episodes. Gunn will serve as an executive producer on the series alongside both John Cena and Peter Safran.

    There has been much debate on the Venom franchise’s choice on a PG-13 rating. In the first film, the character chews off someone’s head and is no stranger to darker stories. Yet, they still went with the audience rating that draws in the most viewers. It wasn’t a surprise that the sequel would share the same rating, but it looks like it was on the table at some point in development for Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

    In an interview with ComicBook.com, Tom Hardy does confirm they’ve explored the potential of an R-rating. Yet, it seems they wanted to not limit their choices based on the comics, but rather focus strongly on what was right for the film’s overall tone.

    100% we considered it. With all of these symbiotes, you know, you consider it. You read the comic books and it is extreme, but that’s not what we’re here to do. We came here to make a movie which, and correct me if I’m wrong, I mean, there’s a law and a rule into creating a movie that’s accessible to a lot of people, as well as that caters for everybody, including the hardcore fans.

    He does go on to say that they wanted to stay true to Carnage as much as possible, highlighting the scene where he stuffs his tongue down one person’s throat.

    So I hope the hardcore fans at least take home that they look at Carnage and go, ‘Yeah, I recognize Carnage from the comic books. I’m happy with that.’ And yeah, no, we didn’t bite everybody’s head off, but we did stick a tongue down someone’s throat pretty… and managed to come in at a level of rating which is reputable so that grandma can come but also I’ll come watch it too.

    The comment of wanting to watch a film titled Venom with grandma is quite a funny idea. Mine would already hit her limit with the whole gooey alien monster that takes over human bodies to kill strangers. Still, it’s great they are putting the film’s overall theme first instead of forcing a rating in. Director Andy Serkis does tease they also want to leave some moments to the viewer’s imagination. Logan and Deadpool proved the potential of an r-rated project, but not every director will feel comfortable with it. So, here’s hoping that Carnage remains true to his name throughout the film.

    We’re still anxiously waiting for any update on the upcoming The Mandalorian spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett. We haven’t seen any footage and it’s still set to premiere in December. We’ll likely get our first look next month or the latest during Disney+ Day, as they’re teasing a special on the popular bounty hunter. To tie us over until then, Film Music Reporter has unveiled that Ludwig Göransson will continue his work in the Star Wars universe, as he’ll also compose the upcoming spinoff series.

    They also report that scoring sessions have already started in recent weeks, which hopefully means we get a tease in the upcoming trailer. Göransson did offer our first glimpse into the music for the spinoff series when it got revealed during the second season’s post-credit sequence. So, he’ll likely also continue the musical composition he’s built around the world of The Mandalorian, as he also worked on the same season the character made its grand return.

    REPORT: ‘Assembled’ Episode of ‘Black Widow’ Eyeing an October Release

    Marvel Studios Assemble has become a new format for the company to showcase behind the scenes of their new Disney+ series. Yet, it seemed like they might avoid releasing episodes focused on their various film releases, as they are normally included with the physical release. Yet, it seems that they might get a focus after all, as a special look behind-the-scenes episode might release on October 20th for Black Widow.

    The release makes sense if you consider that Black Widow will be available to all subscribers as of October 6th. So, they’ll take a similar approach with their shows releasing the Assembled episode sometime after its Disney+ release. We just got the announcement that Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings will release on Disney+ as of November 12th. So, we could expect an episode on it around two weeks later as well. Unlike the series, they are a one-time release and there’s no real build-up from one episode to the next, which might be the reason there’s a long wait between releases. It gives the film some additional life as people might want to check it out alongside the Assembled episode.

    It’ll be interesting if the Disney+ episodes offer some additional footage that isn’t available on the physical releases to make it stand out. Disney’s main goal is always to draw in new subscribers. As such, it might be an initiative to get some eyes to check out footage that is only available on the streaming service. We don’t have an official announcement on the release, but we’ll likely get a poster in the coming weeks to confirm this release.

    EXCLUSIVE: How A Rock Opera Ended Up On ‘STAR WARS: VISIONS’

    Star Wars: Visions is a celebration of all the Star Wars stories that came before. The season showcases a tapestry of diversified Star Wars stories from the best anime studios in Japan. To promote the show’s release, I got to speak with producers James Waugh and Kanako Shirasaki on what it was like to produce such an incredible project.

    Shirasaki shed some light on the studio selection process and how they landed on the six animation studios.

    We wanted to showcase different Japanese anime styles. So we went to different studios with different histories and backgrounds to show the diversity of anime. We reached out and asked them to submit a pitch. I think they sent a brief idea of their episode. Some studios sent multiple ideas.

    According to Lucasfilm VP of Franchise Content, James Waugh, the pitches the team got had some unexpected ideas including the episode Tattooine Rhapsody, which is the season’s most unique story yet.

    We had always knew we wanted a diverse array of creators. We really worked hard on cracking Visons’ framework to allow for fun celebratory swings and unexpected things you can only get from the anime medium. We saw The Duel first and thought, “This is unbelievably beautiful.” I ended up seeing Tattooine Rhapsody and went, “Whoa. We’re doing a rock opera now?” As that slowly went into script, that turned into a wonderful story.

    I asked Waugh how Tattooine Rhapsody came to be given how it felt the most connected to the Star Wars we’re all familiar with yet also felt unlike anything we’ve seen from this world. No one ever imagined Jabba the Hutt and Boba Fett in a rock opera yet this episode gives us just that.

    It was really their pitch. We help ground it in Star Wars because their storytelling was so appropriate for that point in the timeline and was dealing with things that were established. We knew we could ground it in known fiction because their characters were so well rendered and fresh.

    One of the more striking details of Tattooine Rhapsody are the wildly different character designs. Shirasaki revealed that the studio was anxious when they got first got a look at the episode.

    The initial pitch of the character design was different from what you normally see in Star Wars and that made us skeptical. But it turned out great. I think the Star Wars story about rebels fit in with the punk rock attitude of the episode.

    ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ Gets Subtitle and An Easter Release

    It looks like the next installment in the Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts, got a new release date, as it’s now set to release on Easter weekend next year. To be precise, the David Yates film is heading to theaters on April 15th, 2022. It originally was going to release in July of that same year but got pushed earlier which may be a good sign for its production. The last we heard of the production was last year when Mads Mikkelsen replaced Johnny Depp in the role of its main antagonist. The news also came with the official reveal of the subtitle The Secrets of Dumbledore on Twitter.

    The series continues to slowly move away from its main protagonist to focus on the feud between Gindelwald and Dumbledore. The Wizard World sequel also received the following logline to tease what crazy story Eddie Redmayne‘s Newt Scamander gets pulled into:

    Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?

    The prequel series takes place decades before Harry Potter even set foot in Hogwarts and continues to expand upon wizarding history. Jude Law took over the role of a young Albus Dumbledore and will return in the upcoming film in the titular role.

    ‘Guardians of Galaxy’ Game First Impressions Praise Action-Packed Gameplay

    After the lengthy showcase of Guardians of the Galaxy at Square-Enix’s E3 showcase, we haven’t heard too much of the upcoming single-player game. Luckily, it seems that the first hands-on experiences have hit the web and offer a glimpse into what the October release has to offer. Most of what we saw early on remains true, as the game is a single-player game that lets you make decisions throughout your experience that may have minor or even bigger implications. Here are some of the highlights shared by content creators and sites on what you can expect from the game.

    It seems that there are comparisons being made with Mass Effect. You can interact with your teammates on the Milan that offer some insights into their daily lives and even dynamics. They also react when you make specific decisions and may influence your relationship, but it’s uncertain if it leaves a lasting impact on the linear story. This isn’t an open-world game, but developers are pointing to it taking around 20 hours to complete. As such, you’ll jump from one mission to the next with players getting to visit a Nova Corps outpost.

    There have been some concerns with the combat due to the restriction of you only controlling Peter quill. Well, it seems that it was one of the highlights as you can knee-slide like a rockstar, fly around with your jet boots and shoot enemies with the photo blasters. You can even upgrade them throughout the game and your teammate’s abilities. Yes, you can’t directly control Groot, Rocket, Gamora, or Drax but their abilities are essential for surviving as they offer different approaches. Similar to Devil May Cry, you have a score that only truly goes up if you make good use of teamwork. Funny enough, it also exists in-game as Rocket built it into Star-Lords visor.

    As the game is inspired by James Gunn, you’ll also have iconic songs playing, such as Wham and Blondie being available in this test mission. There are some risks with the comparisons as the Guardians franchise has been newly cemented by the director, but the game seems to try to take its own spin on the concept. The game is eyeing a release on October 26th and looks like a fun addition to the Marvel gaming library.

    First Look at Drax’s MCU Skin in Square-Enix’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Game

    News has been a bit sparse for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy game. Luckily, it was just the calm before the storm as a bunch of content creators have shared their first impressions of the next entry in Square-Enix’s Marvel line-up. It’s the first game adaptation for the franchise and will feature our favorite group of rag-tag intergalactic heroes. When they were first unveiled during E3, we got a glimpse at some very unique designs alongside the confirmation they’ll also include MCU skins.

    Luckily, with the first hands-on experiences getting shared, we also got a closer look at the various skins we’ll get to play in throughout the game. In one of the images, we get a closer look at the team and can see Drax’s design from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, his body shape remains the same model from the base game, but we can see the details that turned Dave Bautista into the iconic invisible man.

    New ‘She-Hulk’ Crew Merch Hints at Season 2

    Marvel Studios has been tight-lipped on what series gets an additional season with future Disney+ series like Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and more. While rumors have been hinting at Loki getting one made the rounds early on, it wasn’t until the final episode that we got the confirmation. The only exception was What If…?, where interviews confirmed early on that they already had episodes planned. Well, it looks like we can add the She-Hulk series to that list as some of the crew merch has found its way online, and it may have revealed that a second season may be in development.

    Instagram user yayforzig shared the crew merch we saw some time ago with Hulk owning a little bar. While their focus is on the shoes in most images, they offer a close-up of the hat on the fourth image. Here we see the top cover for the bag of stickers, which features a thank you message from Jessica Gao. What stands out is that under the show’s logo, you can see “Season One!” highlighted.

    Interestingly, they would highlight this being the first season without an official sequel season announced. Plus, if this got planned as a mini-series there would be no reason to highlight it. As such, it seems that there may have already been plans in place to add additional seasons in the future. The legal comedy is a perfect set-up to explore multiple storylines featuring iconic heroes and villains from MCU’s history. We likely won’t get the confirmation until the final episode drops sometime next year, but it’s a motivating hint that some of the Marvel Disney+ shows are here to stay.
