  • E3: First Look at ‘Rainbow Six: Extraction’ Gameplay Released

E3: First Look at ‘Rainbow Six: Extraction’ Gameplay Released

E3 has finally kicked off with Ubisoft’s dev stream. They started their event strong by showcasing the new entry in their Rainbow Six franchise with their horde survival mode subtitled Extraction. It will explore a world taken over by an alien virus that might remind Marvel fans of the symbiote. It started off with a great-looking CGI trailer showcasing the new world we’re about to dive into.

Overall, it looks like a very interesting co-op experience and could be quite a unique experience while handling familiar characters from Rainbow Six Siege. They’ve also confirmed that cross-play will be made available.

  • E3: New Look at ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Black Panther Released Ahead of Square Enix Panel

E3: New Look at ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Black Panther Released Ahead of Square Enix Panel

Marvel’s Avengers players have been anxious about the upcoming Square Enix segment from E3. Not only will it finally unveil the long-rumored Guardians of the Galaxy game, but we finally get a closer look at what awaits us in Black Panther’s upcoming expansion. It seems Crystal Dynamics is just as excited as the official German Instagram released a brand new image of the titular hero ahead of tomorrow’s conference. Of course, they are sparse with any details regarding the character, but that will change once the official event starts.

It seems they wanted to integrate more of the purple that the Black Panther film highlighted in the game and the overall design looks amazing. If you look closely, you can even see his symbol on the chest. So far, this might be the best-designed character for Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers game. It‘s uncertain if this is the finished product that started with the concept art leaks from around nine months ago. There is a chance that this original design may turn out to be just one of the many skins that will be released.

Overall, the design looks great and seems like it combines different elements from the comics and Marvel Cinematic Universe costumes. The mask looks very sleek and the detailing is really nice to add that element of royalty to it. We’ll most likely get a closer look at him in action and what skins he’ll get once he joins the film. Here’s hoping we also get a clear release date alongside an updated roadmap to see what the next half of the year has planned for us.

  • Laurence Fishburne Confirms Return in ‘John Wick 4’

Laurence Fishburne Confirms Return in ‘John Wick 4’

It looks like a familiar face is making a return to John Wick 4, as Laurence Fishburne confirmed his return in an interview with Collider. He will once again play the role of The Bowery King after playing an integral part in the last entry of the franchise. He is joining an already stacked cast that consists of Shamier Anderson, Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama, and Bill Skarsgard. He already confirmed that he’ll join the production in the next few months in Berlin. Of course, the actor couldn’t reveal any details about the plot but did offer some high praise for Michael Finch‘s script. He is taking over script duties from series creator Derek Kolstad.

I read the script. It’s really, really cool. As much as it’s the same world as the other three films, it’s just deeper. It’s much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin and the relationship that he has with one character in particular who I think Mr. Watanabe is playing… is really the heart and soul of it.

It’s quite interesting that he highlights Watanabe’s character. Of course, most people think he might be referencing Godzilla‘s Ken Watanabe, but it turns out he is actually referencing a character from the upcoming film. The film is slated to also head to Japan at one point. So, perhaps they are trying to keep his involvement under wraps. For now, it certainly will be something we’ll keep an eye out for once the first set of photos find their way online. No matter what, it’s great to know Fishburne is returning. Here’s hoping we get some news on Ian McShane‘s return soon.

  • Temuera Morrison Confirms ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Will Explore His Time Post-Empire Strikes Back

Temuera Morrison Confirms ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Will Explore His Time Post-Empire Strikes Back

While The Mandalorian is taking a backseat, we have a new member of the race taking centerstage. Well, technically he is a clone but it was Boba Fett that popularized the look and feel. After making a grand return in the second season of the popular Star Wars series on Disney+, he will not grace the world with a spin-off titled The Book of Boba Fett. We did get a brief tease in a post-credit sequence from the last episode, where he revisits Jabba’s Palace on Tatooine but that was pretty much it. Now, it seems like actor Temuera. Morrison may have confirmed that we might finally get an answer on how he escaped the Sarlacc Pit back in Empire Strikes Backs.

Well, we can’t say too much, but we’re going to see his past and where he’s been since The Empire Strikes Back. Somebody pointed out he’s been kind of stuck in this one place, and now’s the time to actually go back in time and check out his journey and find out more about him.

We got a brief glimpse of him during the first season but we don’t know why he avoided getting back his iconic armor. There seemed to be a reason why he didn’t take it back from Timothy Olyphant‘s Cobb Vanth, who could make an appearance in the upcoming spin-off. We might get some introspection into the spiritual journey he undertook after leaving that past behind and whose names might be on his list after stewing in thoughts of revenge throughout the last years. Whatever the upcoming spin-off has in store for us, it’s great to finally get to see more of the iconic character in action.

  • Latest ‘Indiana Jones 5′ Set Photos Confirm Toby Jones’ Involvement and a Familiar Threat

Latest ‘Indiana Jones 5′ Set Photos Confirm Toby Jones’ Involvement and a Familiar Threat

It looks like some more Indiana Jones 5 set photos and videos have found their way online that offer an even closer glimpse at what we can expect from the upcoming film. Almost a week ago, we saw a stunt double wear a creepy mask of Harrison Ford that confirmed we’ll get a flashback sequence of some kind. It seems that isn’t the only moment we’ll get a de-aged Ford, as the new set photos from the Daily Mail reveal that the actor has some dots on his face that may hint at them taking out a few of his wrinkles.

Now, that isn’t the only thing we see on set, as we also get the confirmation of another addition to the cast, Toby Jones. It is our first confirmation of his involvement and he joins Thomas Kretschman, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Mads Mikkelsen.

The cast already looks very promising as Steven Spielberg hands over the director’s chair to Logan‘s James Mangold. Now, there is one more reveal that may offer some weight to a recent report that Mikkelsen is playing a former Nazi scientist, as the set also includes the infamous swastika on various vehicles.

It seems the recent report might have some credence to it and the fifth entry will explore Indiana Jones continued confrontation with them. It’ll be interesting to see how it all comes together and if this film might also open up the franchise for a new hero to take on Jones’ ongoing battle to preserve history. It does seem likely that this might be the final entry for Ford, who is nearing 80. Of course, he may always surprise us and get ready for a sixth film, but there’s a lot of interest in what Indiana Jones 5 might bring to the table.

  • Set Video Offers First Look at Amazon’s ‘PAPER GIRLS’

Set Video Offers First Look at Amazon’s ‘PAPER GIRLS’

Amazon has been hard at work expanding its comic adaptations. Next on their list is Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang‘s Paper Girls. Production seems to be well underway for Amazon’s Paper Girls adaptation. Someone living in the neighborhood where they are filming, which will act as Stony Stream (Hoffman Estates in Illinois), got a glimpse of the cast and crew.  They are currently filming some sequences with the girls on their bikes, which may be familiar to comic readers. This seems like something we will see in the early episodes, as the girls are going through their usual paper routes before their adventure through time and space begins.

We can clearly see their newspaper delivery bags, and even KJ’s (played by Fina Strazza) field hockey stick strapped to her back. Mac Coyle, Erin Tieng, and Tiffany Quilkin will be played by Sofia RosinskyRiley Lai Nelet, and Camryn Jones respectively. Principal photography will continue through the 24th in Illinois, with the show perhaps eyeing a late 2021/early 2022 release date through Amazon’s streaming service, even if an official announcement hasn’t been made as of yet. The series is based on the Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang comic. It was published by Image Comics from 2015 to 2019 and went on to win the Eisner for Best New Series in 2016. Vaughan, Chiang, as well as colorist Matt Wilson, gained individual praise for their work on the series.

  • E3: Nintendo Leaks ‘Mario + Rabbids’ Sequel Ahead of Ubisoft Conference

E3: Nintendo Leaks ‘Mario + Rabbids’ Sequel Ahead of Ubisoft Conference

It looks like E3 may have started early by accident. Nintendo released the first look of the Mario + Rabbids sequel on their website with the subtitle Sparks of Home. The unlikely crossover game returns as Rayman‘s Rabbids enter the Mushroom Kingdom and spark a bizarre fusion of the two franchises. Strongly inspired by XCOM‘s gameplay style, it mixes Mario’s jump n’ run concept with strategy gameplay. The Italian plumber groups up with cosplaying Rabbids to take on unlikely foes and find out how their worlds collided. The sequel will take that concept out into space, as you’ll be exploring planets throughout the galaxies. Of course, if we are going beyond Earth, a lot of new characters are joining from Super Mario Galaxy, such as the key art teasing a Rabbid Rosalina.

The official post also includes a sneak peek of the new worlds that are mentioned on the site, which promise a very colorful and zany adventure like the first one:

You’ll once again be facing various bosses that may be familiar to long-time fans of the franchise. There is no release date stated but it seems to be eyeing a 2022 release. Of course, this wasn’t supposed to be readily available yet, as Jason Schreier confirmed it was one of the surprise reveals for the upcoming Ubisoft conference later today.

    https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1403680577258246144

Hopefully, we’ll get a better look at the game and some tears of what new additions have been added to the gameplay to keep things fresh. It’s still crazy to think that a Super Mario and Rabbids crossover would become popular enough to get a sequel and who knows what else this franchise may offer in the future. Makes you wonder when we get a Zelda + Rabbids game.

  • Marvel Studios ‘Black Widow’ to Release Early in UK Cinemas

Marvel Studios ‘Black Widow’ to Release Early in UK Cinemas

It’s hard to believe that Black Widow will finally release n just a little under a month. Well, it looks like some Marvel fans might get their hands on the first MCU film of Phase 4 a little early. Marvel UK just took to Twitter to announce that we can expect the film a few days early on July 7th if you live in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Now, this does not include the Disney+ release via Premier Access but only in theater chains. It is uncertain if this will roll out across Europe, or if this might be exclusively in the UK.

There is a good chance we might see some advanced screenings around the world, as it is part of Disney’s promise to support cinemas. While there have been hints at shorter theatrical windows by Disney CEO Bob Chapek, they have been openly discussing their wish to keep the medium alive in its original intent. As such, there is also a good chance that Black Widow might be the last Premier Access release we see as of 2021.

Of course, the pandemic’s effects on cinema won’t go away overnight so it might be a slow process returning to the Box Office numbers we remember from 2019, but the fact that future Marvel Studios projects like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as Eternals, are eyeing pure theatrical releases is a good sign. Here’s hoping we get the news for other countries follows suit to make sure the world finally gets to see the return of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to cinemas.

  • Rumor: Hulk’s son Skaar set for MCU Debut in ‘SHE-HULK’

Rumor: Hulk’s son Skaar set for MCU Debut in ‘SHE-HULK’

According to a report by TheDirect, Jennifer Walters won’t be the only relation to the Hulk that She-Hulk will be introducing. Apparently, Skaar, The Hulk’s son from the time he spent on Sakaar during the Planet Hulk storyline, is set to make his MCU debut in the upcoming Disney+ series.

As The Hulk rose to dominance in the planet he was once exiled to, his relationship with Caiera the Oldstrong developed, and they conceived a son. When the warp core on Hulk’s ship exploded, killing Caiera, Hulk believed his son had died in her womb. Unbeknownst to him, Skaar survived and was raised by his mother’s Shadow People amongst the ruins of Sakaar before being exiled to Earth.

The inclusion of Skaar in the series is incredibly surprising yet entirely sensible and opens up some room for more of the Hulk’s time on Sakaar to be explored. While Caiera didn’t appear in Thor: Ragnarok, concept art of her people, the Shadow People (or the Oldstrong) was developed for use in Thor: The Dark World and it wouldn’t be too difficult to work her relationship with Hulk into the time between Age of Ultron and Ragnarok. Skaar’s arrival on Earth would certainly rattle not only Bruce Banner’s cage but also those who have always been leary of the Hulk. And of course multiple Hulks could be the first step down the road towards something like World War Hulks being adapted into the MCU. The folks at Marvel Studios certainly continue to find ways to surprise and excite us.
