  • Disney UK May Have Accidentally Leaked ‘She-Hulk’s Release Date

Disney UK May Have Accidentally Leaked ‘She-Hulk’s Release Date

Marvel Studios has had a rather strict approach when it comes to their Disney+ shows. As the schedule has shifted quite a bit throughout the years due to COVID, it’s been harder to get a feeling for when we may expect a series to actually release. Ms. Marvel came in with a surprising early June release, making us wonder when we might expect She-Hulk. Turns out, the wait might not be that long as the official Disney UK site has accidentally revealed that the series will premiere on August 17th on Disney+.

There is one aspect to this overview that’s a bit strange and it’s that Moon Knight is noticeably missing. The last Marvel Studios addition to Disney+ mentioned is Eternals but there’s no sign of the recently ended Moon Knight show. So, there may be some errors that have slipped through and the release date for She-Hulk could be changed depending on what the production requires. Yet, an August release would match rumors that we’ve heard back in April.

She-Hulk will see Tatiana Maslany take on the role of Jennifer Walters, a lawyer specializing in superheroes. Rumors have hinted that the show might include Wong trying to sue another wizard, as well as an episode focused on the return of Damage Control. If these turn out true, it may be the first series to truly have a week-to-week format, but it may follow WandaVision as it ends with a more traditional structure. We’ll have to see if the first trailer gives us any hint on how the series might turn out.

  • ‘Doctor Strange 2’s Elizabeth Olsen “Never Met” John Krasinski on Set

‘Doctor Strange 2’s Elizabeth Olsen “Never Met” John Krasinski on Set

The pandemic hasn’t been easy on film productions, especially Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which included quite a few small but essential roles with the Illuminati. The one that drew in quite some excitement was the reveal of John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic. Sadly, his character meets a swift end alongside the other members of the Illuminati, but it turns out that while they died at her hand, she never met him or even the rest of the Illuminati members.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the actress was forced to take a lie detector and seemingly reveals she seemingly has no idea who Krasinski even is.

I don’t know him. I would never assume that an actor would be the smartest man alive. I don’t think so. No, I’ve never met him… I’ve never met him. Never met him!…I’ve never met that man. I’ve met his wife.

    Elizabeth Olsen

While it’s odd she would know who his wife is, it adds to a recent interview with CinemaBlend, where she confirmed that she “never met [any of] them” and that it was “movie magic” that created the sequence. It’s very likely that scheduling issues led to her not meeting them on set, as they had to reshoot some elements that weren’t quite possible due to COVID. It’s something we’ve been seeing more and it’s even more impressive if you consider how well these sequences interweave. If she didn’t say anything, may have never known.

  • Charlize Theron Shares New ‘Doctor Strange 2’ BTS Video

Charlize Theron Shares New ‘Doctor Strange 2’ BTS Video

While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is filled with some iconic additions, the first post-credit sequences caught many off-guard when Charlize Theron appeared as Clea. The iconic Doctor Strange comic character has a lot of potential in how she sets up the next storyline, and while we may have to wait a little longer, Theron has been busy sharing some looks behind the scenes on how she brought Clea to life. At first, we got a good look at the make-up that was done to add some character to her design, now she shared a short video that looks like she was scanned for a 3D model, which may have originally been used for more scenes.

It gives us quite the close-up of her costume and the detailed work that went into bringing it to life is quite impressive. Even the cape has a lot of details to add that otherworldly effect. While it didn’t seem like they animated how it moves, it would make for great detail that her otherworldly powers are reflected in what she’s wearing, especially in a way to highlight its design.

Theron is a fantastic addition to the franchise, and it hopefully means we’ll see a lot more of Clea in the future of the MCU. Not only would she set up a great Doctor Strange threequel, but may also be someone that ends up appearing in crossover events as she helps keep the multiverse from crashing into each other. So, we’ll see what the future has in store.

  • New ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Concept Art Teases More Doctor Strange Variants

New ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Concept Art Teases More Doctor Strange Variants

Concept art of Marvel Studios’ films gives us a good glimpse at the various ideas they had during the ongoing production. Artist Karla Ortiz took to Twitter to share a piece of artwork that highlights an early production visual to help “build hype and potentially inform new looks” of the many Variants of Doctor Strange. While the film would go on to feature different versions of Strange, we never actually get to see them fight together which is highlighted in this visual. .

    https://twitter.com/kortizart/status/1524909401743556608

It also looks like they have gone through “MANY” variations of Strange. They’ve used the character’s core red-and-blue color scheme to give each variation a unique design. It makes you wonder if we’ll ever see the other versions that didn’t make it into the film. Multiverse of Madness made the most out of its concept in a comic world but didn’t make it a focus to just run through countless versions of characters we know, which highlighted some impressive restrained by the creators.

We’ll see if more concept art makes its way online in the future, but it’s great to always get a look behind the scenes. It’s interesting that they’ve mapped out concept art for multiple Doctor Strange variants that didn’t find their way into the film. Of course, there’s always the chance they originally intended to have more versions make their way into the film before the pulled back to ensure it fits the overarching narrative.

Stephanie Beatriz Joins Anthony Mackie in ‘Twisted Metal’

Peacock has been busy developing a new series based on the popular PlayStation gaming series Twisted MetalAnthony Mackie is set to spearhead the project from the writing team behind Cobra Kai and Deadpool. • ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Writer Says Illuminati Inclusion Was Not “Fan Service”

‘Multiverse of Madness’ Writer Says Illuminati Inclusion Was Not “Fan Service”

Even by Marvel Studios standards, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a film marked by secrecy up until its release. The multiversal nature of the movie led to plenty of rumors and speculations ahead of the release. Many fans expected or hoped for a large number of cameos from various Marvel properties that did not actually happen. Since the film’s release, fans have debated whether or not the lack of some “fan service” that many expected was helpful or detrimental to the Doctor Strange sequel.

Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has weighed in on the discussion. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Waldron was asked whether there was pressure to include that type of “fan service” in the film. The writer said there was some pressure but that the movie’s creators were never interested in the “cheap cheer”:

It’s easy to be seduced by the cheap laugh, the cheap cheer, whatever. But that’s never what Marvel or Sam [Raimi] were interested in. It was always about what’s right for the story, what’s right for Steven Strange, what’s right for Wanda. It was never about fan service, really. It was like, ‘If these Illuminati characters are here, they should be here because that’s who’s in the Illuminati in the comics, and that’s who would actually be in the Illuminati.’ That was our north star.

    Michael Waldron

In Multiverse of Madness, the Illuminati and the overall sequence that involved them were one of the most memorable (and cheer-inducing) moments of the film. The group contained several exciting characters for fans. Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter, Lashana Lynch’s Captain Marvel, Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier, John Krasinski’s Reed Richards, and Anson Mount’s Black Bolt joined Chiwetel Ejiofor’s variant Baron Mordo to form the now-violently-deceased organization. As many noticed, though, their roles were significantly greater than cameos. Waldron seems to confirm the importance of the Illuminati to the story of the Doctor Strange sequel instead of merely fan service to excite MCU and Marvel comics fans.

Audiences can judge the Illuminati themselves as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now playing in theaters worldwide.

  • New ‘Ms. Marvel’ Promo Art Pays Tribute to Comics

New ‘Ms. Marvel’ Promo Art Pays Tribute to Comics

Marvel Studios has been busy shifting gear to focus on their next Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel. The story of Kamala Khan will see Marvel introduce their first Pakistani-American superhero to live action. Iman Vellani takes on the heroic role and in a new bit of promo art they pay tribute to a classic comic cover.

It’s always great when they pay tribute to the comics. Here’s hoping that we also get some new posters that include references to the comic covers, as they perfectly showcase the teenage heroes attitude.

The first poster for Ms. Marvel included a cover reference to her sitting on a street lamp. While the second had a more unique design, there’s still a chance we could get more paying tribute, perhaps with the character posters.

  • The Reasoning Behind ‘Batwoman’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Getting Canceled

The Reasoning Behind ‘Batwoman’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Getting Canceled

In recent years, it has been normal for the CW to renew nearly all of its titles despite their often-low ratings. This year, however, following the successful merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery, the network is being forced to reevaluate all ofits titles.

The Hollywood Reporter did a deep dive into what is being called “the Red Wedding at WBTC/CW.” After canceling ten shows – so far – the network’s volume of original titles has dipped to what is considered its lowest level since 2012. While the CW has never been profitable, the network was ultimately launched as a means to supply low-scripted shows from both Warner Bros. and CBS Studios to cash in from “lucrative international rights.” The network would then strike a huge deal in 2011 that saw Warner Bros and CBS Studios add revenue from a $1 billion deal with Netflix to stream its titles.

So, how did all of this factor into the cancellation of Batwoman and The Legends of Tomorrow? Well, after the Netflix deal was not renewed, the plan was to switch to streaming CW titles on HBO Max and Paramount+. This impacted foreign rights deals, making it so the lower-rated shows were no longer “profitable” enough to keep on the air. While Mark Pedowitz, the CEO of the CW, wanted to renew both Batwoman and The Legends of Tomorrow, Warners was unwilling to pay the leases on the studio space for these shows, resulting in them expiring on May 1st.

Both shows struggled in their final seasons, pulling in under 600,000 same-day views and only nabbing a 0.1 in the all-important 18-49 demographic. While both were loved by fans around the world, it ultimately came down to money. Neither title was pulling enough in regarding profits to keep them alive for the network.

With the network expected to go up for sale, the CW will look drastically different in the next year or two. For now, fans at least have the DC shows on HBO Max that they can enjoy.

  • ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Officially Passes $550M in Box Office Revenue

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Officially Passes $550M in Box Office Revenue

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continues to be the king of the box office in passing $550 million in global revenue in its first nine days. This includes the additional $19.2 million added yesterday globally. The only film this week that has put at least a partial dent in terms of revenue was Universal’s remake of the Stephen King novel Firestarter, which raked in $375,000 in its Thursday previews yesterday.

Sam Raimi’s return to the superhero genre debuted last weekend to a dominating $185 million globally, and officially became the 11th highest domestic opening of all-time. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has already become the strongest launch of 2022 thus far and is the second biggest opening since the pandemic, only behind the most previous entry of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Some within the industry had questions about the long-term sustainability of this film at the box office, mainly due to the horror elements and how deeply entrenched it is in the lore of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though with it remaining one of the only marquee releases currently, the Benedict Cumberbatch-led sequel has proven any potential doubters wrong with the massive financial success through just over a week. The big questions moving forward will be how long Doctor Strange 2 will hold as the king of the box office.

There doesn’t appear to be any major blockbusters standing in its way until May 27 with the release of Top Gun: Maverick, followed by Jurassic World Dominion on June 10. With that in mind, one can expect to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse continue to dominate the box office for the time being on its road to potentially $1 billion globally and being the most financially successful film of the year overall.
