  • ‘LOKI’ Merch Gives Insight into the God of Mischief’s Upcoming Series

‘LOKI’ Merch Gives Insight into the God of Mischief’s Upcoming Series

Some rather interesting quotes on new shirts for the upcoming Loki series have shown up on Amazon and Zazzle recently. It’s likely these quotes are actually spoken in the show, it’s worth a deeper look into their possible meaning and implications for the series.

“The Timeline Wants to Break Free.”

It isn’t entirely clear who might say this first quote in the Loki series, but certainly with the TVA involved and time travel, and a need to explain what’s going on, any number of characters could. One strong possibility is Mr. Mobius played by Owen Wilson saying that while explaining about the importance of keeping the main timeline clear and not allow branching off. This is the TVA’s job, after all, to correct and “snip off” the stray timelines to keep the main timeline, pure and keep the universe in order.

However, the image of Loki there on the shirt with this quote makes it seem like something Loki himself says, perhaps with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. This could be how we end up with a number of Lokis appearing during the course of the series. Loki would certainly enjoy all the naughty chaos this would create. Especially the version of Loki in this series who came from the 2012 Avengers film. The same Loki who is probably still bitter over his defeat and has yet to reconcile with his brother the way he did in Thor: Ragnarok. The implication being, Loki could be suggesting he’s creating different timelines for the fun of it, as a natural order of things for him. To a God of Mischief, a timeline might “want to break free,” and naturally all havoc ensues.

    Seige: Loki #1

Mobius and the TVA are sure to have their hands full if they have to deal with this version of Loki, breaking all their methodically thought out rules and regulations. This would set loose many, many timelines, producing a plethora or Lokis to wreak havoc and be a pain in Mobius’ ass in general, and could be a large part of the set up for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. The second I saw Loki appearing to work with the TVA in the set pictures released last year, I had a gut feeling Wilson’s character was probably going to wind up regretting that particular partnership. If anyone from TVA thinks they can outsmart or “handle” Loki, they are in for a wild ride that probably won’t end well. Just ask King Laufey.

“What makes a Loki, a Loki?”

The next shirt quote found on some shirts on Amazon, would seem to have a deeper meaning, and certainly support the reports that there will be multiple Lokis in the series.

“A Loki.” Clearly that is a wink and a nod to there being multiple Lokis in the series. But it also appears to be a sign of some introspection from Tom Hiddleston’s lead Loki, and possibly his doppelgangers from other timelines and multiverses. The question of what makes any other of him still Loki, and his struggle to find his true self, as well as a way to finally triumph over Thor or just win the game of life, is something that’s been explored in the comics before as well. He’s been portrayed as an old man, a young man, a child, and a woman, a Frost Giant, an Agardian, a Norse God of many forms, a magician, a warrior, a trickster, a liar, a villain, a hero, a brother and a son. So we may very well see some very different versions of Loki, with likely all of them struggling with similar issues. Among them being: what makes a Loki, a Loki?

    Journey Into Mystery #645

How and where and when can any Loki find the right timeline so at least one Loki finally winds up on top? Perhaps we’ll find out what it takes or if it’s even possible for any Loki to “win” this Summer when the much anticipated Disney+ series finally starts streaming.

  • Sam Neill Returns as “Odin” in More ‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’ Set Photos

Sam Neill Returns as “Odin” in More ‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’ Set Photos

Over the past day, we’ve seen the cast of Asgaridan thespians from Thor: Ragnarok return to the set of Thor: Love and Thunder. Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth were spotted yesterday reprising their roles as “Loki” and “Thor” in what looks like it will be a recap of the main events of Ragnarok, including the death of Odin. Later, a new round of photos captured Melissa McCarthy on set as “Hela” and now, as expected, Sam Neill has showed up on set as “Odin.”

Damon, Hemsworth and Neill’s “Tragedy of Loki of Asgard” was one of Thor: Ragnarok‘s funniest moments and from the set pics we’ve seen we know that Thor: Love and Thunder is going to give us not only Thor and Loki’s time with Odin before his death but also the final battle of Asgard. We’ll see what director Taika Waititi comes up with this time to help audiences recap the events of Ragnarok.

Melissa McCarthy Sighted on ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Set as Hela

Taika Waititi has been busy filming Thor: Love and Thunder in Australia. Just a few hours ago, we got the revelation that Matt Damon, who was revealed to return for the film, was indeed playing the character from the last entry in the franchise. It would see the return of the iconic play sequence, which will offer a quick recap of the last film’s events. Once we saw Liam Hemsworth also return to portray Thor, it made us wonder who might take on the role of Hela, who was an essential character in Ragnarok. Well, it looks like we finally got our answer and it is quite a surprise. @loveandthundernews shared some images from Daily Mail glimpse at the iconic headgear that reveals that Melissa McCarthy is playing the fake Hela in the play.

I did not expect that casting, but I love it. McCarthy seems like an actress, who we wouldn’t expect to appear in this franchise anytime soon, so this is the perfect way to give her a brief role. We don’t know if these characters are only going to appear briefly in the play, especially those who wrote this version. In Ragnarok, it was Loki disguised as Odin that created the play to glorify his “death.” I cannot wait to see her interpretation of the character that Cate Blanchett played. These events may have been written by Tessa Thompson‘s Valkyrie, who has taken over as the ruler of New Asgard after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Whatever they might have planned, I cannot wait to see the reenactments and McCarthy in her Hela costume on the silver screen.

  • ‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’ Set Photos Reveal the Plot of Film’s Asgardian Play

‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’ Set Photos Reveal the Plot of Film’s Asgardian Play

When it was revealed that Matt Damon was was in Australia as part of the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder, fans were split on whether he would return in his role as an accomplished Asgardian actor portraying Loki or if he might be tackling a meatier role such as Balder the Brave. New set photos today from The Daily Mail have put and end to that speculation.

Previous set photos from Little Bay, Sydney showed the construction what we now know to be an elaborate stage where Damon and Luke Hemsworth will reprise their Thor: Ragnarok roles as Asgardian actors, this time apparently to tell the story of the death of Odin. Given the fact that Sam played “fake Odin” in Ragnarok, it’s possible the actor might also sneak on set to play the Allfather once again.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now in production in Australia and set to hit theaters on May 6, 2022.

  • T.I. Will Not Return for ‘ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA’

T.I. Will Not Return for ‘ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA’

Scott Lang’s crew will be down at least one member when Ant-Man returns to theaters in Ant-Man and The Wasp: QuantumaniaRapper and actor Clifford “T.I.” Harris will reportedly not be coming back for Marvel Studios’ upcoming size-changing threequel. Harris was a part of both previous Ant-Man films, portraying the titular Avenger’s friend, Dave. His character acted as comedic relief in the franchise, bouncing jokes off his partners and fellow ex-cons, Luis and Kurt. Those two were played to perfection by Michael Pena and David Dastmalchian, respectively. It is unknown if the outspoken musician’s boot from the MCU has anything to do with the multiple sexual assault allegations lobbied against him and his wife, Tameka Harris, earlier today. Production on T.I.‘s VH1 series T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle got shut down last month after the married couple faced prior claims of assault, and after the highly-publicized firing of Gina Carano, likely, Disney wouldn’t want to take any more chances with cast members.

It is possible, however, that the script for Quantumania never included Harris in the first place. Marvel has trimmed side characters from sequels before, most notably throughout the Thor films, and the third Ant-Man looks to be jam-packed with content as it is. Officially announced at December’s Investor’s Day, Quantumania will bring back Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in the titular roles. Peyton Reed is returning in the director’s chair. Also returning are Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfieffer, with Jonathan Majors and Kathryn Newton joining the cast as the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror and Lang’s grown-up daughter Cassie. With time-travel and a possible Young Avengers set-up going on, it’s not all that surprising that the employees of X-Con Security might not fit into the scheme of things.

  • REPORT: Marvel Studios Casting Key Roles for ‘Secret Invasion’

REPORT: Marvel Studios Casting Key Roles for ‘Secret Invasion’

Marvel Studios is hard at work entering production for various shows. They have surprised us with an onslaught of projects during Disney’s Investor’s Day. The standout was the revelation that the Nick Fury-focused show would get an adaptation of the Secret Invasion storyline. It looks like they have already started casting the Disney+ series, which will feature the return of Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn‘s Talos. It is still uncertain how they will tackle the 2008 storyline now that the Skrulls got introduced in a positive light during 2019’s Captain Marvel. Illuminerdi has learned that they are currently casting three essential roles for the series.

The first major role will be the main antagonist of the series. They are seeking a male actor in the age range of 50 to 60 years. There was rumbling that they have considered Gary Oldman in the role at one point. There is a good chance, as Illuminerdi points out, the villain might be Dorrekt VII. The character was the Emperor of the Skrull Empire if they stick to the original comic storyline. Now, there is also the role of a female of 40-50 years. She will spend a lot of time alongside Nick Fury, which may indicate it could be the live-action debut of Abigail Brand. She is the leader of SWORD in the comics, which made its debut in WandaVision. The final role will be an essential supporting role. They are currently seeking a younger actress to tackle the role.

10 Things You Didn't Know About The Skrulls

The last time we saw Talos and Fury was in the end credits of Spider-Man: Far From Home. We saw the master spy taking a short break on his new space station surrounded by Skrull, which made the reveal of a Secret Invasions series even more interesting. It would make sense for Abigail Brand to work alongside him on that station. It is uncertain how much of it will take place on earth. We still have some time to wait until it releases, but it is already turning into a must-watch.

  • RUMOR: ‘Rangers of the New Republic’ to Replace Cara Dune with ‘Rebels’ Hera Syndulla

RUMOR: ‘Rangers of the New Republic’ to Replace Cara Dune with ‘Rebels’ Hera Syndulla

Star Wars is getting ready to expand in the upcoming years. The Mandalorian kicked-off a variety of spin-offs that got announced during Disney’s Investor Day. Among them, there was the mysterious series titled Rangers of the New Republic. It seemed that at one point, Gina Carano‘s Cara Dune was the front runner to lead the spin-off series. There were even rumors that she would lead alongside Katee Sackhoff‘s Bo-Katan. As many know by now, Lucasfilm has parted ways with the actress. Many wondered what it may imply for the series, especially now that they weren’t recasting. Well, it looks like they may have found their replacement in Star Wars Rebels’ Hera Snydulla.

The story comes from a site called LRM Online, which ran the story earlier today. Shortly after, the Kessel Run Transmissions also highlighted this new direction for the show adding some validity. We still have to take this as a rumor, but the character of Snydulla would be a perfect choice. She is already well-established from the Star Wars Rebels series, and it isn’t the first time they are adapting an animated character into live-action.

The Mandalorian saw a lot of success in carrying over characters from Clone Wars and Rebels. She also has close ties to the early rebellion and was a central figure in the formation of the Alliance that wanted to restore the Republic. She has a close connection to Grand Admiral Thrawn, who might have a role in the upcoming Ahsoka series, so she would also connect to the overarching storyline that is getting set-up.

  • Indira Varma Joins Star Wars’ ‘OBI-WAN KENOBI’ Series

Indira Varma Joins Star Wars’ ‘OBI-WAN KENOBI’ Series

Lucasfilm’s highly-anticipated prequel spin-off, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has added its first new cast member. According to Deadline, Indira Varma has joined the series in an undisclosed role. The actress is perhaps best known for her work on HBO’s smash hit Game of Thrones, where she portrayed the cunning Ellaria Sand for four years. Details surrounding the Disney+ limited outing have been kept tightly under wraps since its official announcement at 2019’s D23 Expo but it will shed some light on the titular Jedi’s time in exile between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

Before today, the only known cast members were fan-favorite Ewan McGregor, who was reprising his acclaimed role as Kenobi, and Hayden Christensen, making a surprise return to the franchise. He will return to portray the villainous Darth Vader. While we don’t know who Varma will be playing just yet, her striking facial features and British origins seem to line up nicely with The Clone Wars‘ Duchess Satine. Many fans have speculated that Obi-Wan’s love interest might appear via flashback in his upcoming solo project. Only time will tell if this theory pans out.

Kenobi will begin filming last year, but various script rewrites and a global pandemic have delayed the process on more than one occasion. The series will enter production in the spring, with director Deborah Chow on board to run it. Chow proved her directing chops, and her handle on the Star Wars universe to fans with some stellar work on the first season of The Mandalorian. The time she spent there will surely come in use when Kenobi utilizes the same innovative StageCraft technology to stay safe in these turbulent times and bring the sands of Tatooine to life.

  • Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Live-Action Reboot Adds Jessica Alexander in Undisclosed Role

Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Live-Action Reboot Adds Jessica Alexander in Undisclosed Role

It looks like Disney is working hard on developing their live-action remakes. We just recently got the trailer for their upcoming 101 Dalmations prequel, Cruella. It will tell the story of the iconic villain before she becomes obsessed with Dalmations. It looks like they are also hard at work in adapting their next live-action adaptation of a Disney classic, as The Little Mermaid has officially cast Jessica Alexander. Her role is currently undisclosed for the upcoming Rob Marshall film. She will be joining Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, and Javier Bardem.

Alexander had quite a year with her work on Ruth Paxton’s A Banquet and Kelsey Egan’s Glasshouse. After her debut with Get Even on Netflix, it is a great step forward. David Magee‘s script will adapt 1989 animated classic. It will also include the songs and add some new ones. Alan Menken will compose them based on lyrics by Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda. He will also produce the film alongside Marshall, Marc Platt, and John DeLuca.

It will be interesting to see if they stick to the original story similar to Aladdin, or if they will add more context to the story. Bailey will be playing the titular role of Ariel opposite McCarthy‘s Ursula. Bardem will tackle the role of Triton in the story. Alexander could be playing one of Ariel’s sisters, or even voice Flounder. It will be interesting if they integrate more aspects of the original Hans Christian Andersen to flesh out the story more. No matter what direction they will go, it’s going to be interesting to see Disney attempt a film that mainly takes place underwater.

  • ‘WandaVision’: Agatha Takes on Wanda in New Images

‘WandaVision’: Agatha Takes on Wanda in New Images

SPOILERS for WandaVision episode 9 below!

A couple of new images of WandaVision’s villainous Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, have popped up on Amazon. At least one of them is definitely from the upcoming big finale. It just looks like a continuation of the cliffhanger, we were left on at the end of episode 8, but if you look closely in one of them it appears that Agatha is holding a red, not purple, ball of “wiggly woo” magic in her left hand. We know that red magic would have to have come from the Scarlet Witch, Wanda.

Agatha has also, at this point, clearly let go of Billy and Tommy, but she doesn’t appear too impressed with the ball of red in her hand. In fact, she’s smirking as if she’s just toying with Wanda’s attempt to strike her down. Perhaps Agatha Harkness will be a much bigger challenge to Wanda’s power than many had theorized. A serious threat, without needing any other “big bad” to swoop in and help her fight Wanda and her family. We will soon find out.

The other image definitely could have come from the previous episode. The purple strings from Agatha’s left hand, the one holding Billy, appears broken. So it may be from the final episode as well, with the magically inclined Billy being able to break free from “Auntie Agatha” before his brother is able to.
