    REPORT: ‘ANDOR’ Wraps Production

It looks like Disney+’s Star Wars: Rogue One spin-off has wrapped production. According to Bespin Bulletin, the series has finished production over the weekend with most of the cast finishing up. They share that Diego Luna has also finished filming with sets already getting taken down. The series was first announced back in December during the Disney Investor’s Day by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Andor Release Date, Cast, Trailers & News

The last thing we’ve heard of this production was earlier this month with the report that The End of the F***ing World‘s Alex Lawther has joined the series. Filming has gone on for quite some time as they faced the COVID pandemic throughout production at Pinewood Studios. The Bespin Bulletin goes on to highlight that this was approached as a film with a twelve-episode run. It also required quite a few sets which adds to the production time.

The timing is also quite fitting, as Carl Weathers shared the news that The Mandalorian will start production in September. There’s a chance they might utilize the sets from it and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series to cut down on costs. It also implies that they’ll focus on working on a specific amount of projects.

We still know very little about the project besides it’ll act as a prequel to Rogue One. The Disney+ series will explore the time before he joined the resistance. Surprisingly, there are no plans to include his sarcastic sidekick K-2SO even when his inclusion was initially announced. We might get multiple seasons as we explore his first meeting with the droid in the future.

REPORT: ‘Andor’ Adds ‘The End of the F***ing World’s Alex Lawther

Lucasfilm’s Andor series has been quietly moving its production along, and now we finally have a solid update. Alex Lawther has reportedly joined the cast of the Disney Plus series in a supporting role, though the identity of his character and the extent of his role in the story remains unknown. The report comes from The Direct, who adds that Lucasfilm has yet to confirm the news. The British up-and-comer is best known for his leading role in Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World, as well as a one-episode appearance on the smash-hit sci-fi anthology Black Mirror. Lawther could be playing anything from a fellow Rebel spy to an Imperial officer.

Andor was announced way back in 2018, but several bumps in the road of production have delayed the series to a 2022 release. The show will consist of twelve episodes and will follow the early adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor. Introduced in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor is portrayed by actor Diego Luna. The series will also star a mixture of old and new faces, such as Genevieve O’Reilly, Forest Whitaker, Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, and Fiona Shaw. Alan Tudyk was originally announced to be reprising his role as the sassy droid K2-SO, but has since been left out of the project.

The first three episodes of Andor will be directed by Toby Haynes, replacing former director Tony Gilroy after the latter was forced out of the role by the unexpected global pandemic. Rogue One also famously experienced behind-the-scenes issues, but that movie turned out alright. So there is most likely still hope for Andor.

  • REPORT: Ben Mendelsohn May Reprise ‘Rogue One’ Role in Disney+ ‘Andor’ Spin-Off

REPORT: Ben Mendelsohn May Reprise ‘Rogue One’ Role in Disney+ ‘Andor’ Spin-Off

It looks like one more Rogue One veteran is returning in the upcoming Andor spin-off, as The Direct has reported that Ben Mendelsohn will reprise his role as Orson Kennic. However, they do point out that they are unsure of how big his role might actually end up being in the series. There is a chance he has a brief cameo, as our titular character Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, might infiltrate an Empire base at some point in the series. This news drops shortly after Bill Skarsgard leaked the fact that Forest Whitaker was also returning in the upcoming Disney+ series as Saw Gerrera. It seems that we could see more familiar faces from Star Wars‘ first non-episode film pop up potentially.

Mendelsohn gave us a great performance as the main antagonist in Rogue One. So, his return is a welcomed one. It looks like the actor has a big future with Disney+, as he is also slated to appear in the upcoming Secret Invasion series from Marvel Studios. Of course, it is uncertain if he simply has a brief cameo in Andor, but he would make for a great recurring character that somehow manages to always get into Cassian’s way at the most inopportune times. You can never go wrong with more of Ben Mendelsohn n in any project. Here’s hoping we also get some more familiar faces returning to flesh out the era when the Empire ruled over the galaxy.

  • ‘Andor’: Forest Whitaker to Return in the ‘Rogue One’ Spin-Off

‘Andor’: Forest Whitaker to Return in the ‘Rogue One’ Spin-Off

Andor has been busy filming for some time now and we still know very little about what direction the series is heading. All we know is that it’ll take place before Rogue One and explore the early days of its titular character, Cassian Andor. Some time ago we did get a good look at the cast, which includes Marvel Studios veteran Stellan Skarsgard. Well, it seems he accidentally let slip in an interview with Sverige Radio that he had “at least two good” scenes with Rogue One veteran, Forest Whitaker. He played the character of Saw Gerrera, which he even returned to play in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game.

It actually makes a lot of sense for his character to return in the series. While he did find his end in Rogue One, there are a lot of stories that can be explored while he leads the Rebellion against the Empire. We might get a closer look at how he became infamous among even their ranks. It also opens up the question of how much Andor will explore in its first season, as we might get a look at the darker side of the Rebellion rather than the hopeful one we are introduced to in Star Wars: A New Hope. It looks like we might have al to more surprises heading our way.

  • ‘CHERNOBYL’’s Robert Emms joins the cast of ‘ANDOR’

‘CHERNOBYL’’s Robert Emms joins the cast of ‘ANDOR’

Lucasfilm’s Andor has cast Robert Emms, who we’ve previously seen in shows like the astonishing Chernobyl and His Dark Materials. With the Rogue One spin-off currently filming, there are a few names still being added to the cast, as it eyes a 2022 Disney+ release date. There are no details regarding the character Emms will be playing but considering where we’re expected to find Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, EmmsBritish background might hint at some sort of role within the Empire. Even if Lucasfilm has been shifting away from reserving such accents for villainous roles in the Star Wars universe.

Moving through a world of military espionage deep within the heart of the fight between the Rebellion and the newly formed Empire, Andor will (obviously) be set before Rogue One, as we’re expected to learn more about Cassian’s background, something only hinted at in Rogue One. Heavyweights Ewan McGregor and Rosario Dawson, playing Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano respectively, are expected to make an appearance. As for Alan Tudyk, who voiced the former Empire droid K-2SO, an integral part of the aforementioned Rogue One, will, unfortunately, not be showing up.

  • ‘Andor’ Set Photos Reveal First Look at Diego Luna and Shore Troopers

‘Andor’ Set Photos Reveal First Look at Diego Luna and Shore Troopers

It looks like it is a big day for Disney+ set photos to find their way online. A few hours ago, we got our first look at Ethan Hawke on the set of Moon Knight. Now, it looks like a Star Wars series is getting the spotlight as set photos for Andor have found their way online. A few weeks ago, we had our first look at a few Imperial officers from the set. Now, we finally get a closer look at some Shore Troopers alongside Diego Luna. The YouTube channel streetrogue photography offered a closer look at various actors gearing up as the Rogue One Shore Troopers with Cassian Andor alongside them. He may be trying to sneak his way past them or even working undercover. He was an agent for the rebellion and wasn’t a stranger to making some tough decisions.

We still know very little about the series and how it might tie into Rogue One. We do know that K-2SO will sadly not have a role in the series, as confirmed by Alan Tudyk. So, we might be following Cassian’s early years even before he joined the Rebellion. We could follow his story as a rogue on the streets, barely scraping by before finding a purpose. There is also the question of how it may tie into the various Disney+ shows that are kin development. Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place directly after the events of Order 66. The Mandalorian has various shows that will follow the galaxy after the Empire fell. So, we might see various seeds that build up throughout the generations and lead to a conflict unlike any other.

  • New ‘Andor’ Set Photos Tease Familiar Imperials

New ‘Andor’ Set Photos Tease Familiar Imperials

It has already been four months since we got the official reveal that the Rogue One spin-off would be titled Andor. It is one of many Disney+ series that will continue to expand the Star Wars franchise in new and interesting ways. The pandemic has left its scars on the spin-off, as it forced Tony Gilroy to leave the franchise’s reigns to Black Mirror‘s Toby Haynes. Directors Ben Caron and Susanna White would join the production a few months ago before it officially entered production. Now, we finally also get a few glimpses at the set through @OutlawNoah, which already offers a look at some familiar Imperial outfits.

As he points out, the set design does have a vibe that is similar to Canto Bight. The location was a coastal city on the desert planet Cantonica, which Finn and Rose visited during the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. If you consider the time difference between the events of this series and the sequel trilogy, it might be a different location that was also quite elaborate.

It’s interesting that the Imperial Guards, who are wearing similar uniforms to Ben Mendelsohn‘s Orson Krennic. As the series is a prequel to Rogue One, there is a chance he might make an appearance in some form or another. We still know very little about the series, which may act as a standalone project or even consist of multiple seasons that build up to the events that would start a new hope in the galaxy far far away.

  • ‘ANDOR’ Adds Directors Ben Caron and Susanna White

‘ANDOR’ Adds Directors Ben Caron and Susanna White

It looks like Disney+’s Andor series has found a pair of new directors to take the helm for the series’ upcoming episodes. DiscussingFilm reports that Ben Caron and Susanna White will help steer the ship of Disney and Lucasfilm’s Rogue One prequel, which will debut on Disney+ in 2022. The duo joins the previously announced Toby Haynes. The series is filmed in London’s Pinewood Studios, where the directors are heading to join the cast and crew. When the project got announced, Rogue One’s writer and secondary director, Tony Gilroy, was to direct and write episodes of the show. Sadly, complications with travel due to the current pandemic prevented him from making the trip. As a result, his role got reduced to that of executive producer. He still was heavily involved with the script.

Ben Caron is best known for his work in British television. He previously directed episodes of cult classic series Sherlock and Skins. He also was behind multiple episodes of Netflix’s breakout series, The Crown. There is also Susanna White. She is renowned for her work on the British film Nanny McPhee Returns. Americans might recognize her work in the popular series Masters of Sex and Billions. The talents of both will support the story of a younger Cassian Andor. Diego Luna will reprise his role in the series, which will take place five years before the events that would spread hope throughout the galaxy

Andor never shied away from referring to his many years in the service of the Galactic Rebellion. Luckily, we will finally get a chance to explore those years on a deeper level. Sadly that means we won’t be seeing the return of Alan Tudyk‘s K-2SO, which the actor confirmed some time ago. The show is one of many of Lucasfilm’s Disney+ series and has gotten overshadowed by some larger projects, especially Ewan McGregor’s return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Still, it promises to be an exciting adventure for all fans of the Star Wars universe that want to explore the Empire’s reign throughout the galaxy

‘Andor’: Alan Tudyk Reveals No Current Plans for K-2SO Appearance

We haven’t heard much from the upcoming Star Wars series since the announcements during Disney’s Investors Day. Among the many series, we finally got an official title for the Rogue One spin-off that would focus on Cassian Andor. Diego Luna was set to return, but there was no real word if Cassian’s robot side-kick would also join him on this new adventure. Alan Tudyk voiced the former Empire droid, who was quite a fan-favorite mostly due to his sarcastic comments. Well, it sadly looks like the silence surrounding his inclusion had a good reason for it. In an interview with Collider for the upcoming Resident Alien, he revealed that he was not involved in the upcoming series:

They’re shooting it right now, I’m not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I’ll end up in there

It is sad we won’t get to spend more time with K-2SO. Hopefully, there is a chance the series might get some additional seasons to explore how they first met. We did get their initial meeting in an official prequel comic to the film, so it may be a reason why it won’t be the focus in Andor. This revelation is actually quite a surprise as shortly after the show’s initial announcement he was heavily involved in promoting it. So, his exclusion and the way Tudyk answered might hint that they are planning on mapping out multiple seasons. Interestingly enough, the droid made an appearance outside of the Rogue One film, as he was a returning enemy in Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. So, there is also the chance that K-2SO could appear in other Star Wars-related media, such as The Mandalorian. His blueprints may have been used to build the Dark Troopers, who made their live-action debut last season. For now, we can only hope that he

Finally, the story focused on Cassian Andor has gotten a title and it is as simple as you expect it to be. The series is titled Andor, which includes Stellan Skarsgard. Mon Mothma will also make her return in the series. Not just that, we even got a trailer, which we can actually watch, that showcases the show’s direction. The Rogue One spin-off is described as a spy spin-off that will continue to explore Cassian’s story before the events of the film.
