  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Latest Gear Rework Kicks-Off With Hero-Specific Perks

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Latest Gear Rework Kicks-Off With Hero-Specific Perks

Marvel’s Avengers took a bit of a backseat this half-year, as after the release of Black Panther they’ve started focusing on reworking the core system. The goal is quite simple. They have their first raid coming up with Spider-Man’s release, as well as preparing for 2022. We’ve long waited for what they might be cooking up at Crystal Dynamics and while they did state they’re taking a backseat for sister company Eidos’ release of Guardians of the Galaxy, they still had a nice surprise for players. In the latest weekly blog, they’ve shared their first major change to how gear perks worked.

    Marvel's Avengers Game

So, the rework will serve a very specific function. The goal is to make each hero’s offerings stand out rather than just having the same perk across everyone’s base set. It’s a great decision, as it allows the players to work on their character’s unique traits and adds replayability to try out others. The first rework focused on Captain America, Hulk, and Thor.

Captain America’s new perks focus primarily on his “heroics, intrinsic actions, or defensive enhancements.” In the case of Thor, all generic perks have been removed and received a perk titled Binding of the Thunderer, which adds an Odinforce Amplifier. Hulk got more gamma-themed perks like Worldbreaker’s Alloy (high chance of regen Heroics). If you want more details, you can check them out here.

These are still small changes ahead of the bigger insight teased by Crystal Dynamics, but it’s a fantastic step in the right direction. Marvel’s Avengers offers some fun characters and a great story, but the gear has been a rather highly discussed part of the game. Long-time players are looking for a reason to get back into the game and these changes might inspire them to grind out to establish their new builds. Here’s hoping we’ll get more details in the coming weeks on the general reworks in the game. There was a tease by the game’s community manager that we can expect a longer entry next week.

  • Anya Taylor-Joy Already Recorded “Bits and Pieces” of Nintendo’s ‘Super Mario Bros.’ Film

Anya Taylor-Joy Already Recorded “Bits and Pieces” of Nintendo’s ‘Super Mario Bros.’ Film

It was quite a surprise to many when Nintendo unveiled its all-star cast for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. film adaptation. The animated project would include actors like Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, and Anya Taylor-Joy in key roles. It’s currently eyeing a release in December 2022 and we haven’t heard much on it since the announcement back in September. Well, it looks like recordings are already underway, as revealed by Taylor-Joy in an interview with ET.

The actress, who’ll play Princess Peach, shared that they’ve already started the recording process on “little bits and pieces” for now. Not just that, she also shared her favorite part about playing the role, she gets to play games as part of her research. Of course, she doesn’t go into much detail but it’s good to know that the film seems currently on track to hit its release next year.

Oh, it is so much fun. We started doing little bits and pieces of it already. The greatest part is that I get to say I am doing homework or work or research just by gaming, which is pretty great.

It’s going to be quite interesting to see how they bring this franchise to the silver screen. Still, it’s great to hear Taylor-Joy is having fun with the role and seems like a perfect fit for the character. Yet, there’s also the mystery on how much dialogue we can expect, as Mario isn’t famous for talking a lot. So, Chris Pratt in the role was quite the surprise.

He’s no stranger to doing voice work as he also brought The LEGO Movie‘s Emmet to life. If he’ll have a large voice role, we might expect a lot more character development from the Italian plumber as he faces off against Bowser once again, who’ll be voiced by Jack Black. The role of Seth Rogens‘ Donkey Kong is still uncertain, as he’s been known as a foe and friend throughout the gaming franchise.

  • ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach’ Gets a December Release

‘Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach’ Gets a December Release

After its initial announcement, we’ve been long waiting for a release date on the next entry of the Five Nights at Freddy‘s franchise. Security Breach will be a PlayStation-exclusive as it moves the franchise away from its PC routes and you get to explore a new indoor theme park based on the fictional mascot. The pizzeria has evolved into a full-blown environment and you’ll play a kid trying to escape. The latest PlayStation State of Play included a new trailer and confirmed it’ll release December 16th. It also teases some of the encounters you’ll face s you try to survive these modern-day animatronics.

FNAF just recently hit a snag with its film adaptation that lost director Chris Columbus due to script issues. So, the silence on Security Breach had some worries given the controversy surrounding the franchise’s creator, Scott Cawthon. Luckily, it seems the wait isn’t long until the next entry releases and offers a much more expanded experience within the franchise. Here’s hoping it also continues to build upon the lore introduced with the VR games, as the mystery continues to unravel. The hunt for extremely missable Easter eggs is on.

  • Snoop Dogg Reveals that Dr. Dre is Working on Next ‘Grand Theft Auto’s Soundtrack

Snoop Dogg Reveals that Dr. Dre is Working on Next ‘Grand Theft Auto’s Soundtrack

Sometimes you never know where a rumor about a new project might come from. There have been countless teases for the sixth entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise and it looks like Snoop Dogg might’ve added to it. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he shared that Dr. Dre was working on some new music. The big reveal is that he also confirms that it’s not for a new album but rather for an upcoming entry in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto.

I do know he’s in the studio. I do know he’s making great fucking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.

    Snoop Dogg

Rolling Stone has reached out to GTA developers Rockstar to confirm, but they declined to comment. Dr. Dre and his representatives have also not openly commented on the statement. Of course, if they did it would most likely have to involve a confirmation on what project they are currently working on. Especially with all these rumors going around for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

Rockstar has been enjoying the success of its last entry, especially since it’s been still released on newer hardware. The once PS3 game is available the latest generation of consoles and has been going strong mostly due to the success of its Grand Theft Auto Online component. There’s always a chance he might’ve prepared some stuff for the upcoming Trilogy that updates the music, or a spinoff that’s been in development. Yet, it seems likely it is in reference to the sixth title.

  • RUMOR: First Look at the Roster of Warner Bros. ‘Super Smash Bros.’ Clone Leaks

RUMOR: First Look at the Roster of Warner Bros. ‘Super Smash Bros.’ Clone Leaks

There’s been a rumor going around that Warner Bros. planned their own Super Smash Bros.-inspired game. They would pit the many iconic franchises under their belt in a new fighting game. The rumor is hinting at it’ll get the title Warner Bros. Multiversus and includes franchises like DC Comics, Rick and Morty, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, and many more. Up until today, it was simply just a rumor but a new leak by Twitter user @LiquidHbox offered a closer look at the game’s potential roster that includes Finn, Rick, Bugs Bunny, Gandalf, Batman, Steven Universe, and more.

What stands out is the art style for this project. Instead of relying on a realistic design that wouldn’t mesh well with their animated projects, they simply brought everyone into the same design that seems inspired by Fortnite. Harley Quinn’s design looks like it would fit perfectly into a new animated project. It reminds me a lot of Disney Infinity which gave every new character a Pixar-inspired design for the characters. Even the recent Nickelodeon Super Smash Bros. clone went with a unified design to make these characters fighting each other look as they belong into the same game.

Multiversus is also a great title. It’s incredible it hasn’t been used before given how simple and effective it is. Given WB’s extensive roster of properties, the included roster seems surprisingly small but there is a good chance this is just a part of the whole picture if it turns out real. LiquidHbox also uploaded a video but that was swiftly taken down, which adds more believability that there’s more to this project. Here’s hoping we get a reveal soon.

  • Square Enix’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Reviews Are Positive

Square Enix’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Reviews Are Positive

When it was revealed that Square Enix was working on another Marvel game in Guardians of the Galaxy, there was a lot of trepidation given what happened with Avengers. But lo and behold, turns out that game is actually good. Reviews are out for the game and they are glowing with positivity. Critics are describing the game as unexpected surprise with a lot of personality and heart.

I always expected to jet around blasting aliens in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. But its new place as one of the more emotionally resonant video game stories in recent memory easily makes it 2021’s best surprise.

    Polgyon

Just like the titular scrappy band of underdogs, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy defied all of my expectations. What I expected to be an awkward mishandling of one of Marvel’s most unlikely superhero teams turned out to be one of the most faithful and entertaining depictions of the Guardians since their 2014 movie debut, and one of my favorite games of 2021.

    Kotaku

Despite its mechanical flaws, in depicting a story of flawed characters, it’s hard to pass up on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. This title feels free of franchise-building and shady business practices. While it tries to ape on your familiarity with the property, it somehow all stands on its own. The visuals, lovable characters, and the promise of hijinx in space are inviting, but within this off-beat exterior is a solid emotional core.

    Gamepur

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy nicely balances a goofy, action-filled adventure with some genuinely heartfelt story moments, and the choices you’re given can add some surprising personal twists to your particular playthrough. Its combat and level design are relatively simple if still consistently entertaining, but it’s the relationships and banter between its characters that keep everything fresh as they evolve. It isn’t going to set the world on fire, but Guardians of the Galaxy is still another convincing example of how much fun a linear, no-frills, single-player campaign can be.

  • Nintendo’s ‘Advance Wars’ Remake Delayed Until Spring 2022

Nintendo’s ‘Advance Wars’ Remake Delayed Until Spring 2022

Sadly, it looks like the E3 announced Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was officially delayed. Nintendo took to Twitter to announce that the remake of the original two games won’t get released until Spring 2022. It originally was going to be made available this holiday season on December 3rd. The remake will take the original’s sprite artworks and update it with a combination of hand-drawn animations for the characters and 3D stylization for the various infantry units.

As mentioned previously, this game won’t just include the original Advance Wars, but also its sequel Black Hole Rising. There’s also word that it’ll include online functionality for those wanting a chance to face off against friends. There’s no word if it’s one ongoing campaign or if the games will be available as two separate options. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remix combined both into one game but still kept the levels separate.

We’ll see what the game has to offer, but it’s exciting to see them bring back some classic franchises. The Nintendo Switch has become a home for many classic franchises. They recently released the long-awaited sequel to Metroid Fusion titled Dread on the console and there’s hope that other long-dormant franchises might get a release.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Adds Comic-Inspired Capwolf Skin for Halloween

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Adds Comic-Inspired Capwolf Skin for Halloween

Here’s a fun surprise. Crystal Dynamic’s work on Marvel’s Avengers has been continuing throughout the year as they work on the game’s core system. There has been a lack of content or updates from the developer, but they did continue pushing out new skins. Most of their focus was on bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe designs into the game. Many have hoped for more comic-inspired skins and that wish just came true with a little Halloween twist. The official Twitter account has shared a new skin inspired by Steve Rogers’s transformation into Capworlf back in 1992.

This news is great as it means we’ll get more comic-skins that are also treated like the Marvel Cinematic Universe-skins were. Plus, it opens the floodgates to more seasonal content like holiday-inspired skins like Thor wearing a Santa outfit. As it’ll get added to the marketplace, it’ll be at a cost. The game does offer its challenge cards as a way to earn enough in-game to purchase them but there’s a ceiling to it. We’ll see if there’s an opportunity to earn credits in the game with other manners in the future.

  • DC FANDOME: New Behind-The-Scenes Video Teases ‘Gotham Knight’s Court of Owls

DC FANDOME: New Behind-The-Scenes Video Teases ‘Gotham Knight’s Court of Owls

It’s been a long wait since we got our first look at Gotham Knights. WB Montréal will continue the Arkham franchise through a spinoff that explores a new kind of Gotham. Bruce Wayne is dead and the Court of Owls is starting their reign over the city he once protected. Of course, Gotham isn’t left without any protection, as Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin will face off against the new threat. After a delay due to the pandemic, 2021’s DC FanDome gave us a new trailer and a look behind-the-scenes on their take of the Court of Owls.

Rocksteady’s upcoming Suicide Squad game will continue the storyline set up within the Arkham games while embracing a new direction for the game. It will combine the elements familiar to players from the iconic Batman gaming franchise, but takes more of a brawler direction. The first trailer gave us our first glimpse of the Bat-family working together and it looks like a promising addition to DC’s gaming line-up. Sadly, we still don’t have a release date for both, but they are continuing to eye 2022.

Of course, we soon find out these “Mystery Targets” are none other than the Justice League who seem to be under the control of Brainiac. You can check the Arkhamverse’s version of the iconic heroes right there alongside a nice tribute to Batman, as his Batmobile will make an appearance it seems.
