  • Jared Leto to Return as Joker for ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

Jared Leto to Return as Joker for ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

The fabled Snyder Cut of 2017’s Justice League will be making its way to HBO Max sometime next year. Just recently, it was revealed that Zack Snyder would indeed be returning behind the camera to work on additional photography for his director’s cut. It was reported that Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ray FisherAmber Heard, and Ezra Miller were set to return for additional scenes. It would allow Snyder to add the scenes he wasn’t able to finish during its initial production before Joss Whedon took over. In a sudden twist, it’s now being reported that Jared Leto’s clown prince of crime will also return to the big screen as part of this new vision of the team-up film.

Leto previously played the Joker in the 2016 film Suicide Squad. His take on the role stirred quite a controversy due to his very unique depiction of the clown prince of crime. It’s unclear how big of a role Leto will have in the film but most likely isn’t much, as he wasn’t included in the original cut released back in 2017. We might get him in some flashbacks depicting what truly happened to Robin, which was briefly teased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Along with this news, it’s also been confirmed that Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, and Joss Whedon will not be receiving credits on this cut of the film. They are also in no way involved in the new production. Now that it is officially titled Zack Snyders Justice League, we cannot wait to see his initial villain come to life once the film is released on HBO Max.

DC’s ‘Green Lantern’: Who is Kilowog?

The Green Lantern Corps is one of many emotional spectrum corps that have protected the galaxy since they were formed over three billion years ago by the Guardians of the Universe. The Corp has known no prejudice, welcoming a variety of species and races, choosing only those with the greatest amount of willpower to fight and protect the universe from those who seek to spread fear, anger, and greed. The most notable of lanterns have become staples in the DC Universe and will return to live-action in HBO Max’s Green Lantern series, one that will span decades and focus on some of the most iconic corp members.

Green Lantern: 10 Things DC Fans Should Know About Kilowog | CBR

First appearing in Green Lantern Corps #201 in 1986 and created by Steve Englehart and Joe Stanton, Kilowog is regarded as one of the best trainers and recruiters in the Green Lantern Corps. Kilowog is from the planet Bolovax Vik, an widely overpopulated planet, possibly one of the most populate planets in the galaxy, with over sixteen billion inhabitants. Kilowog was regarded as one of the brightest minds on the planet and was an incredibly successful geneticist. Kilowog gained his ring after the previous Bolovaxian lantern was killed in combat; knowing this would mean he’d have to leave Bolovax, Kilowog accepted this honorable chance. Kilowog is also the last of his kind. During the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline, Bolovax Vik was destroyed but its inhabitants were saved by Kilowog, who was able to, with the sheer amount of willpower within him, store them within his ring and move them to another planet. This wouldn’t last long as Sinestro would go on to destroy the planet that Kilowog had found as refuge for his people. Another fun fact about Kilowog is that he is a communist, when he was assigned to earth spent his first few months there within the Soviet Union as they were the only place on earth practicing a similar way of life to that of Bolovax Vik.

Kilowog will make another live action appearance in the HBO Max Green Lantern series, having previously played a supporting role in the 2011 mega bomb Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds. The series currently has no set release date and no casting has yet to be made.

The Corp has known no prejudice, welcoming a variety of species and races, choosing only those with the greatest amount of willpower to fight and protect the universe from those who seek to spread fear, anger, and greed. Features Character Close-Up - The Brightest Day

Simon Baz first appeared in The New 52: FCBD Special Edition #1 in June of 2012, created by Geoff Johns and Greg Mahnke. Baz was ten when the events of 9/11 happened and, as a Lebanese-American, faced many racial prejudices throughout his early life, going as far as having to defend his sister from bullies multiple times. Simon eventually became a mechanic after gaining a degree in engineering. When the economy declined Baz lost his job, leaving him to rely on street racing and stealing cars and scrapping them for parts to sell for money. After a high speed chase, Simon was apprehended by officers who assumed him to be a terrorist and had him sent to Guantanamo Bay for further questioning. When he pleaded with them to let him go, assuring them he wasn’t a terrorist, a ring burst into the questioning room choosing Simon as the next Green Lantern of Sector 2814.

One major difference between Simon and the other Lanterns is that he insists on carrying a gun with him despite wielding one of the most powerful weapons in the galaxy. Baz believes that if he’s ever caught in a hard situation and unable to use the ring, that the gun would be his last line of defense.

Simon Baz is set to make his live action debut in the HBO Max Green Lantern series. A release date has yet to be set and no casting has been made at this time.

Guy Gardner: Why the Worst Green Lantern is Really the Best Green Lantern

First appearing in Green Lantern Vol 2 #59 in March of 1968, and created by Gil Kane and John Broome, Gardner was one of the first lanterns to be chosen in Sector 2814, after John Stewart. Gardner was chosen to join the corps based on the sheer amount of willpower he has, even if that willpower is shrouded behind him just being a straight-up ass. Never one to back down from a fight, Gardner is one of the most formidable and strongest warriors in the Green Lantern Corps. Guy’s origin was reinvented in the 2011 New 52 reboot where he was reimagined as an ex-cop of the Baltimore police department, earning his Green Lantern Ring after rushing to assist his brother who was pinned down in a shoot-out with a street gang. Gardner would’ve become a lantern sooner if he’d been closer to the crash site of Abin Sur, but the ring had found Hal first because he was closer. It was later revealed that Booster Gold had convinced Guy to visit his dying father in order to ensure that Jordan gained the lantern ring first.

Guy Gardner has already made his live-action debut, having previously been played by Matthew Settle in a proposed pilot for a Justice League of America show. There is currently no release date for the HBO Max series and will be played by Finn Wittrock.

Recognising The Importance Of The Original Green Lantern Alan Scott – The Comic Vault

While he’s regarded as the first Green Lantern, he isn’t actually a member of the corps itself. Created by Martin Nodell, Alan Scott first appeared in All-American Comics #16 in July of 1940. Scott gained his abilities from a Lantern known as the Starheart, a magical entity trapped within a the lantern by the Guardians of the Universe. To tap into the power of the entity, Alan designed a ring to harness the power of the Starheart and became the golden age Green Lantern. Scott also happened to be a founding member of the Justice Society of America, a WW2 era superhero team that helped the allies in the fight against the Nazis and Hitler who wielded the Spear of Destiny. Alan would fall in love with Rose Canton who was secretly the Flash villain Thorn, fathering two children with her, both of whom would go onto develop abilities due to their father’s close proximity and use of the Starheart. These two would adapt the identities of Jade and Obsidian and join the JSA down the line.

Alan Scott will make his live action debut on the HBO Max Green Lantern series and will reportedly be adapted as an openly gay character, as his Earth-2 counterpart was revealed to be in the New 52 reboot. Alan Scott almost made an appearance in the second season of the CW series Legends of Tomorrow but that idea never made it past the concept art phase. The HBO Max series currently has no set release date and no casting has been made yet.

DC’s ‘Green Lantern’: Who is Jessica Cruz?

The Green Lantern Corps is one of many emotional spectrum corps that have protected the galaxy since they were formed over three billion years ago by the Guardians of the Universe. The Corp has known no prejudice, welcoming a variety of species and races, choosing only those with the greatest amount of willpower to fight and protect the universe from those who seek to spread fear, anger, and greed. The most notable of lanterns have become staples in the DC Universe and will return to live-action in HBO Max’s Green Lantern series, one that will span decades and focus on some of the most iconic corp members.

Jessica Cruz, who first appeared in 2014’s Justice League Vol 2 #30, was created by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver. Originally known as Power Ring, she was the unwilling successor to Harold Jordan of the Crime Syndicate after he was killed during the Syndicates attack on Earth Prime. The Ring of Volthoom forced it self upon Cruz and took over, physically and mentally torturing her, and then forcing her to attack her hometown of Portland, Oregon. Jessica then came face to face with Batman, who reached out to her telling her that he was a victim as well and that only in their darkest hours, when they face their fears head on , could they truly persevere. Breaking the influence that the ring had on her, Jessica was able to take control of the ring and learn to wield it with the help of Hal Jordan, joining the Justice League.

in360news: The Most Powerful GREEN LANTERN Ever is Jessica Cruz

Jessia Cruz is also a character that deals a lot with mental health, suffering from severe anxiety that she developed after a traumatic experience while hunting with friends. During the trip Jessica came across two men dumping a body in the woods. Not wanting n witnesses, the men killed everyone but Jessica, who was able to get away. After the incident, Jessica’s mental state worsened and she locked herself within her apartment for almost four years, until the Ring of Volthoom found her. • ‘GREEN LANTERN’ Hires Writers Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim

HBO Max’s Green Lantern was announced back in 2019 during the streaming service’s reveal event. We had little information at the time besides Greg Berlanti‘s involvement. He is certainly no stranger to DC, as he pioneered the current DC TV line-up. He is well-known behind the shows The FlashArrowSupergirlTitans, and Doom Patrol. Ever since we have not received any updates on the status of the show. Finally, Deadline announced that the show would be written by Arrowverse alum Marc Guggenheim and writer Seth Grahame-Smith, who is known for The Lego Batman Movie and the It films. With the announcement of the writers, we got also got the confirmation that the show was ordered for ten hour-long episodes. It will feature the likes of many fan-favorite lanterns such as Alan Scott, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Guy Gardner, Sinestro, and Kilowog. They also teased new additions to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps. Story details are still being kept under wraps so it will be interesting how they balance the different eras.

Alan Scott is the sole lantern of the Justice Society of America and is still confirmed as Earth’s first Green Lantern. It is uncertain if we even see Sinestro from the Yellow Lantern Corps at one point in the series. This show has the chance to introduce some really unique dynamics and relationships with its large cast. Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, two recent additions, have shown the difficulties of fighting their inner demons. Especially Jessica’s anxiety could be an important aspect of the story. The powered rings are heavily tied to the characters’ emotions. So, they can use this chance to highlight the struggles we face in our own lives.

This is the most info we’ve gotten on the Green Lantern series in some time. Geoff Johns’ MadGhost Productions has also added the upcoming live-action series, so they will most likely be involved alongside Berlanti Productions. It’s currently unclear if fan-favorite characters such as Kyle Rayner, Jon Stewart, and Hal Jordan will make an appearance. It does seem likely they could be saved for a film project, or are introduced in a future season.

  • Batmobile Cartoon ‘Batwheels’ Heading to HBO Max and Cartoon Network

Batmobile Cartoon ‘Batwheels’ Heading to HBO Max and Cartoon Network

We’ve all been waiting for the next DC show to be added to HBO Max’s fantastic line-up. The streaming service allowed DC to branch out and explore darker storylines. Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn certainly highlight this new direction. So, I don’t think many expected the next DC entry to be a pre-school action comedy featuring a living Batmobile. You read that right, it is not about Batman or Robin but their vehicles. It’s actually a very cute idea that seems strongly inspired by Pixar’s Cars. The short description of the show also features a variety of other familiar bat vehicles joining the fight against crime.

Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience.  Led by Bam (The Batmobile), the Batwheels – Bibi (The Batgirl Cycle), Red (The Redbird), Jett (The Batwing) and Buff (The Bat Truck) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid.  This relatable and aspirational series will follow the journey of this dynamic team as they thrill and entertain with their heroic adventures as well as demonstrate to kids the value of self-confidence, friendship and teamwork.

The show is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation with Sam Register serving as executive producer. He is joined by Michael G. Stern as a co-executive producer and Simon J. Smith as a supervising producer. Steven Fink of Bang Zoom Ltd. is also set as a producer. Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics president Tom Ascheim also had the following to say about the show.

Batwheels is the perfect show to headline our new foray into preschool. I can’t wait for all the aspiring super heroes out there to meet this whole new batch of crime-fighters.

Batwheels sounds like a perfect introduction for pre-schoolers into the world of Batman and DC. The first visual shared also seems to hint that it will still combine a modern neo-design with some gothic influences. It will be interesting to see how many vehicles will be introduced that act as stand-ins for the Joker, Riddler, and many other famous rogues. This is a perfect addition for any Batman fan with a young kid.

  • ‘Harley Quinn’ Renewed for a Third Season on HBO Max

‘Harley Quinn’ Renewed for a Third Season on HBO Max

DC Entertainment has given us some fantastic shows. Doom Patrol is so unique that it is hard to even put into words how out-there it is. It also gave us the R-rated animated masterpiece Harley Quinn. Many of us were waiting for the third season renewal and it has finally arrived. As we guess, the renewal comes from HBO Max and not DC Entertainment. This renewal also comes with the announcement that DC Entertainment will focus primarily on comics. As such, it is now a direct competitor to Marvel Unlimited, as it’s media content will migrate to HBO Max.

Hollywood Reporter also includes the fact that negotiations were dragged out over budgetary discussions. A major executive change also affected the show’s renewal, as the new focus on HBO had shifted. DC’s Jim Lee has also been vocal for the advantage of keeping these shows on HBO Max, as it has a stronger draw for audiences. Hopefully, the success of these shows means that they will continue expanding their DC output on the new platform. HBO Max has renewed Doom Patrol for a third season recently and Titans was going to enter production before the pandemic hit. It’s an exciting time for comic fans, we’ve been getting a lot of creative shows breaking boundaries. Harley Quinn is certailny at the forefrunt of it and I cannot wait to see what the third season will have to offer.

  • ‘Doom Patrol’ Renewed For Season 3 at HBO Max

Many have been wondering when Doom Patrol would return for a third season. The critically-acclaimed comic book adaptation had just ended its second season as an HBO Max Original series. Originally, it premiered as an original production for the streaming service DC Entertainment before being added to HBO Max’s line-up. After an amazing second season, it was just a question of time before it would get renewed for a third season. Thankfully, Executive Producer Jeremy Carver finally confirmed its renewal:

On behalf of the wonderful cast, writers, and crew, we are thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Doom Manor. And we are especially thankful for our partners at Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, DC Universe and, of course, HBO MAX.

Head of Original Content Sarah Aubrey has also confirmed that the show is one of the streaming service’s most-watched Max originals. Hopefully, this creative and wacky show will see plenty more renewals in the future. It is also interesting to note that this renewal confirms that all shows are migrating to HBO Max away from DC Entertainment.

Doom Patrol Season 1 and 2 are now streaming on HBO Max with season 3 set for a 2021 release date.
