  • ‘Hawkeye’ Director Reveals Where the Show Fits in the Sacred Timeline

‘Hawkeye’ Director Reveals Where the Show Fits in the Sacred Timeline

Ever since Avengers: Endgame introduced the five-year Blip between Thanos’ snap in Infinity War that erased half the population of the universe and Hulks’ snap that undid it, it has been a constant guessing game as to when Phase 4 properties take place. So far, answers to that question have been mostly vague. While we still have more questions than answers, there’s now some confirmation on where the upcoming Hawkeye series exists within the Sacred Timeline. Director Rhys Thomas revealed to Game Radar:

Clint’s someone that we haven’t gotten to spend a lot of time with obviously, over the course of the films…We get to see where he’s at, we’re two years after the events of Endgame. And so we get to see what he’s been doing and how he’s dealing with his past.

    Rhys Thomas

Since the events of Endgame took place sometime in 2023, that means that Clint Barton and Kate Bishop are set to take on their New York adventure roughly in 2025. Set photos had previously hinted at a 2025 date for the series by showing the date for Chinese New Year in that very year. Hawkeye is set at Christmas-time, though, so it would appear that the series actually takes place in late 2024 leading into the New Year.

While the puzzle pieces of the Sacred Timeline’s Phase 4 entries are slowly being put together, Hawkeye‘s 2024 winter timing raises more questions about how where the series falls with respect to next month’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Marvel Studios has played coy on this question, but we will learn more soon as Hawkeye drops this Wednesday, November 24, on Disney+.

  • ‘Eternals’ BTS Image Hints at an Earlier Appearance of Harry Styles’ Eros

‘Eternals’ BTS Image Hints at an Earlier Appearance of Harry Styles’ Eros

It’s already been a few weeks since Eternals was released, but there are still some curious details that find their way online, especially with the reveal of Harry Styles playing Eros. While we’re still wondering how exactly the new origin of this alien race might connect to Thanos, it seems that Styles’ character may have had an appearance at an earlier point in the story. Sprite actress Lia McHugh took to Instagram to share some pictures from behind-the-scenes with one including Styles. Yet, their outfits and Richard Madden‘s inclusion raise some eyebrows for those that have seen the post-credit sequence.

The outfits they are wearing are the ones we see them in when they are on their way to earth. So, we may have spent some time with others from the race before they eventually made their trip o fight the Deviants. Madden‘s inclusion highlights that this is probably from earlier in the film, as he’s not around when Styles makes his grand appearance. There’s, of course, the chance that the post-credit sequence would’ve included a flashback or even a visit to the World Forge, where they meet others like themselves.

We know that Eros is an Eternal, but we don’t know if there’s something special about his kind, especially with the mystery of how he relates to Thanos. There’s a chance that he might be adopted or that the Celestials tested out the evolution aspect on a handful of Eternals who remained on Titan. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait too long until we get an answer to these questions.

  • Latest ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Teaser Features Elektro with an Arc Reactor

Latest ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Teaser Features Elektro with an Arc Reactor

There are quite a few interesting details once you start looking at some of the latest TV spots in detail. Marvel Studios is famous for including small references that tie together the Marvel Cinematic Universe in creative ways. Well, it looks like @cosmic_marvel has noticed quite a remarkable detail in one of the latest Spider-Man: No Way Home teasers, as we get our best look yet at Jamie Foxx‘s Elektro. Yet, the big part is that we get a closer look at his new costume and what is probably powering his energy flux, an Iron Man-esque arc reactor.

He’s not the only classic Spider-Man villain getting a Stark upgrade, as we recently learned how Doc Ock gets his new and improved arms in the second trailer release. We can clearly see that the Iron Spider suit is damaged and during the bridge fight he’ll get his upgrade. As such, it might be easy to assume that Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker has one somewhere in his upgraded suit. So, perhaps Doc Ock gets his hands on it and upgrades Elektro with it to make him a bigger threat. It would be similar to what Octavius does in the 2018 Spider-Man game.

Of course, there’s also the chance that he steals it from a Stark lab somewhere. Tony built a giant one underwater to power the city and his suits are probably still around somewhere. Perhaps one was included in a museum, similar to that of Captain America, and he steals it to get a much-needed upgrade. Who knows how little control he has over his powers and that is why he requires the suit upgrade.

  • The Sanderson Sisters Take Flight in New ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Set Video

The Sanderson Sisters Take Flight in New ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Set Video

Disney+ has only been active for a few years now and has already breathed new life into franchises that were believed to have been lost to time. One such franchise is the beloved Halloween film, Hocus Pocus. It has become a cult classic and must-watch for the month of October for many that grew up with it. The film follows three Witches who’ve been set free after a black candle is lit within their old home. As such, the children must steal the witches book of spells before they’re able to make themselves immortal. The original stars of the 1993 Halloween film are set to return in a sequel to the original which will stream exclusively on Disney+.

A new set video has been released via TikTok that gives us quite a good look behind the scenes of the upcoming sequel. In the video, you can clearly see Winifred and Sarah Sanderson taking off on their brooms above Salem, now in the modern-day. The rest of the video includes more looks at the film from afar, as well as stunt doubles making their way to and from the set.

Hocus Pocus 2 is currently set to release in the fall of 2022, hopefully just in time for Halloween. The sequel is set to follow the return of the Sanderson sisters to Salem, brought back by three high school girls who must now send them back once again. The film will feature the return of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones. Newcomers to the film are Whitney peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Sam Richardson, Tony Hale, and Froy Gutierrez.

  • ‘No Time to Die’ Now Hollywood’s Highest-Earning 2021 Release, Passes ‘F9’s Previous Record

‘No Time to Die’ Now Hollywood’s Highest-Earning 2021 Release, Passes ‘F9’s Previous Record

It looks like we have a new reigning king at the worldwide box office, as the latest James Bond film, No Time to Die, has officially outgrossed the reigning champ F9: The Fast Saga. The final entry in Daniel Craig‘s run as the famous secret agent has reached $733M worldwide. It’s a great success for MGM and Universal, who have postponed the film ever since the pandemic started and it gave it a nice boost once things calmed down a bit. To give a comparison, F9 currently stands at $721M.

It’s quite an impressive run for the older-skewing film like No Time to Die, which has currently outperformed quite a few Marvel films. Shang-Chi is currently still the top-grossing film in the domestic box office but had a slower development overseas. The franchise has always been strong in European markets, especially in its home country with the UK making up $124M of its income.

It had quite the boost when it was released and it even opened in China which added another $60M. Some of the top earners are the few that managed to get a greenlit by the Middle Kingdom while most of Marvel Studios releases did not get the same. Eternal and Shang-Chi both faced some cultural backlash which kept the films from banking on the usual reliable Chinese box. Still, it’s great to see Craig‘s exit as James Bond ends on a high note and we’ll see if Spider-Man: No Way Home might be the first to pass the billion mark since the pandemic opened.

  • New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ TV Spot Offers Closer Look at Lizard

New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ TV Spot Offers Closer Look at Lizard

It looks like they finally kicked off the marketing campaign for Spider-Man: No Way Home, as a new TV spot has been found that teases the upcoming film. Even better, it includes new footage such as more of the teased Happy Hogan sequence and some dialogue from J. Jonah Jameson. Yet, the highlight is that it also gave us our best look yet at The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Lizard, who only had a brief cameo as part of a group shot in the second trailer. Twitter user @spiderbruv shared the footage from the new TV spot.

    https://twitter.com/spiderbruv/status/1462343982105587714

It’s great that they are sticking to the Amazing Spider-Man design, as it makes the character easier recognizable as part of that specific universe. It does open up the question of whether these characters will ever make an appearance later down the line with more comic-accurate designs, but it would make for an interesting conflict for Peter. He knows what happened to them in other dimensions, which means he will try his best to make sure it doesn’t happen yet his Parker Luck might lead them down the same path either way.

We’re still a few weeks away from the official release, and we’ll see how much more footage might find its way online. They’ve pretty much revealed all the villains that’ll take on our favorite wall-crawler. So, they might try to stick to what they have, or else they might spoil too much. Sony is infamous for overmarketing its offerings, which hopefully won’t be the case this time.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Diane Guerrero Discusses “Emotional Gymnastics” of Balancing ‘Encanto’ and ‘Doom Patrol’

EXCLUSIVE: Diane Guerrero Discusses “Emotional Gymnastics” of Balancing ‘Encanto’ and ‘Doom Patrol’

Diane Guerrero is busier than ever. After breaking onto the scene nearly a decade ago in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, the actress landed a major role on HBO Max’s superhero series Doom Patrol, wrote a memoir about her family’s struggles with deportation, and started a podcast focusing on the importance of conversations surrounding mental wellbeing. Now, Guerrero will star as the voice of Isabella in Disney’s latest animated musical film, Encanto.

In an exclusive interview with Murphy’s Multiverse, the actress was asked about her experience portraying the seemingly perfect and lovely Isabella while simultaneously filming scenes as the chaotic and unstable Crazy Jane on Doom Patrol. Her response revealed it wasn’t as easy as one might assume:

Yeah, it was actually a little difficult because playing Jane on Doom Patrol does take a big toll on me. Y’know, because the character is so feeling and so extreme with some of her emotions and honestly she’s going through like really traumatic stuff. I mean, she’s like traveling through time, and she’s having to deal with sixty-three other personalities that are competing with what she’s doing, and her sole purpose is to protect this young girl.

    Diane Guerrero

Of course, the darker parts of Jane’s story in Doom Patrol are quite different from what a film like Encanto offers audiences. She goes on to talk about how different it was playing Isabella and how her performance with multiple personalities still helped her brain the role to life.

So, going into the booth for Isabella where she had to be light and carefree and perfect, I had to really, like, calm down and put myself in that space. But, because I get to play sixty-four different characters…I’m able to use that for Isabella because she’s having to be perfect but she really does have so much bubbling inside. It worked out in the end, but it’s definitely a little bit of emotional gymnastic.

    Diane Guerrero

The answer lead to a follow-up in which Guerrero was asked if her work on either one project had an impact on her performance in the other, specifically her time doing voice work as a puppet on Doom Patrol. It turns out, the Jane the Virgin actress actually was able to use both characters in preparation for her work:

Well, I certainly took…that episode that you’re talking about, Puppet Patrol, I was definitely able to take Isabella and the essence of this Disney Princess into Adult Kay, which was the character that is in this puppet land. So, Adult Kay sort of has to be this like bubbly and uplifting character…so, yeah, absolutely I use [Isabella] for that. But also, y’know, I have some of the attitude that Jane has for some of the sly comments that Isabella has for Mirabel.

    Diane Guerrero

Encanto lands in theaters on November 24, while the third season of Doom Patrol is currently airing on HBO Max. We can’t wait to check out what she has to offer as Isabella and if it opens new doors for her to explore more animated projects.

  • The Aftermath of ‘Eternals’ May Lead Into ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

The Aftermath of ‘Eternals’ May Lead Into ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

Marvel Studios continues to expand in new and creative ways. We’ve seen the MCU’s version of Earth changing in ways we never thought possible, such as now a giant Celestial sticking out like marble from the ground. Tiamut the Sleeper has now become a fixture within the MCU after the release of Eternals and his awakening might have led to some curious ripples across the world. With rumors hinting at Atlantis and Namor playing an integral role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, there’s a good chance this event might cause the unearthing of Atlantis.

In Eternals, we learn that Earth is actually an egg. The otherworldly Celestials are born when planets reach a certain level of population and then bring entire galaxies to life as a result. Tiamut would’ve joined their ranks if the Eternals (which a little help from the Celestial himself) kept him from, well, hatching. The build-up to that moment was in the form of countless earthquakes hinting at the arrival of the event known as The Emergence. The fact that his hand and head start popping out of the planet will certainly leave behind cracks in the planet. So, if Atlantis was hidden away for so long, there’s a chance his awakening might’ve opened up the crack that kept the underwater city hidden.

Of course, if there’s an Earth-altering event that may change the ecosystem we know and love, any scientist is going to explore the aftermath to make sure our planet isn’t falling apart. This might become the catalyst that unleashes the Atlanteans, most notably Namor, out into the world. They are no longer safe from outsiders. Who knows how the Emergence may have also affected their city, as most of the earthquakes seemed to be underwater. Desperation will push anyone to a darker path and if they hint at a Vibranium connection, a conflict is inevitable.

  • ‘Blade’ Eyeing Late Summer 2022 Production Start

‘Blade’ Eyeing Late Summer 2022 Production Start

After a bit of silence, we finally got the announcement that Marvel Studios’ adaptation of Blade is in final negotiations for Da 5 BloodsDelroy Lindo to join the project. The film will see Mahershala Ali take on the iconic role that introduces the concept of vampires into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic universe. We’re still waiting for a sign when the project might start production. Well, it turns out the announcement article on Lindo‘s casting was hiding away a little note.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is planning a late Summer 2022 production start. It would put it on time to potentially release in Halloween of 2023. It’s not uncommon for these projects to shift around depending on availability and how far pre-production is. Bassam Tariq is taking on directing duties for the production based on a script by Watchmen‘s Stacy Osei-Kuffour.

Blade just recently had his first official appearance in Eternals but was only heard as a disembodied voice in the background. It’s uncertain if he might appear in a different project ahead of release, such as the upcoming Moon Knight series that might offer a look into the supernatural world. There’s also the upcoming Werewolf by Night Halloween special that seems like a perfect time to see what he’s up to after his meeting with Dane Whitman.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Early Forecast Eyeing $500M+ Worldwide Opening

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Early Forecast Eyeing $500M+ Worldwide Opening

We’ve all been wondering if Spider-Man: No Way Home might be the first film to break the current curse the box office is facing with the pandemic. We’re far away from where we were back in 2019 but there’s a lot of hope that it may be our first film to pass the one billion mark at the worldwide box office. Its December release could also add a nice push, as the Star Wars franchise changed its potential and it became a popular hot spot for big releases. Its sentiment rankings are trending ahead of Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It also helped that the first trailer release garnered 355.5 million views within just 24 hours ahead of some of the franchise’s biggest. As such, the long forecast has the film eyeing an international release between $375M to $525M.

That means that domestically, it’s currently on route to near a $200M opening. This is quite noteworthy if you consider that no film has opened past the $100M mark since before the pandemic. For now, its prediction sets it between $135M to $185M. Its critical reception, as seen with Eternals, and general marketing push could push it even further, as Venom: Let There Be Carnage dips into the same target audience and managed to pass expectations by quite a bit.

Keep in mind, these are early predictions that offer a feeling for where the film might potentially be heading. We’re still about a month out and some countries are adding quarantine restrictions once again that could hamper its box office in specific countries. Yet, it‘s eyeing a release in China, which will give the film an extra boost. It seems unlikely it might reach the $2 billion mark but it might be the first one to break through the pandemic.
