Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco Reveals Involvement in Animated ‘Super Mario’ Movie

Video game franchises have always had it rough when it comes to feature film adaptions. Not even Nintendo could avoid the curse. Back in 1993, the popular Super Mario Bros. franchise was adapted for the big screen, with the project starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as the titular brothers. The project was less than well received and fans rather not speak much of it. But it doesn’t seem like that was the final nail in the coffin for its future in Hollywood. An animated film is currently in the works from Illumination, which are best known for the films Despicable Me, Minions, and Sing.

Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco was recently on Bert Kreischer’s podcast, where he revealed that he would be going to the studio following the Podcast to record lines for the film. Not just that, but he also confirmed he would be voicing a character known as Foreman Spike. The character first appeared in the 1985 game Wrecking Crew.

Not much is known about the movie, aside from Illuminations Chris Meledandri co-producing the project alongside the creator of the Mario Bros. franchise, Shigeru Miyamoto. The project has yet to officially add anyone to its cast or even add a director, but Maniscalo confirms the film is in active development and casting has already happened.

The film is still slated to release sometime in 2022, although no specific release has been revealed. It’s unknown if the pandemic caused any delays in production. As our first real hint at the film’s production, we hopefully will get some more news in the near future.

E3: New Look at ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’ Sequel Released

It’s been a long wait since they announced the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The first game reinvented the franchise in an interesting way by giving the player complete freedom and it looks like the sequel will do the same. It even seems they will be catapulting a lot of Hyrule into the sky, as we are teased with Link flying from one island to another.

E3: ‘Advance Wars’ Returns to Nintendo Switch

A childhood favorite is finally making a return, as during the E3 Nintendo Direct they announced a brand new remake of the original two Advance Wars titles. Not just that, they are completely redoing the franchise in 3D with unique animations for the characters. Not just that, they are even remaking both original games from the Nintendo Gameboy. Sadly, it seems they aren’t focusing on the Nintendo DS’s Dual Strike that continued the franchise back in the day, but they might return to the franchise if this new installment proves to be successful.

E3: The Long-Rumored ‘Metroid: Dread’ Finally Unveiled

Finally, Nintendo is giving the Metroid franchise some love, as they just announced Metroid 5 is heading to the Nintendo Switch. They still haven’t given us any details on Metroid Prime 4, but it is great seeing the iconic franchise make a comeback. The now-titled Metroid: Dread will see Samus Aran in a brand new outfit facing unlikely robotic foes. The most iconic part about this announcement lies in the fact that Metroid: Dread has been going around as a title for almost six years now.

E3: ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ Adds ‘Tekken’s Kazuya

It looks like the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character has finally been announced in a rather grim fashion. We see some classic Nintendo characters get thrown down a cliff in a gruesome fashion. It pulls up to reveal its a recreation of how Kazuya was turned into the man he is today. Yes, Tekken finally gets an official fighter in the game and it wasn’t the flagship characters of Heihachi or Jin, but the estranged son and father. It’ll surely be a great addition to the franchise.

  • E3: First Trailer and Gameplay Tease Released for ‘Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope’

E3: First Trailer and Gameplay Tease Released for ‘Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope’

We finally got the first trailer for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, which leaked by accident on Nintendos eShop. We got our first look at the main antagonist, who surprisingly isn’t actually. Lumas and Rabbids fusing together will be the main catalyst for the game’s events. The cinematic trailer is quite promising and it’s still weird seeing Mario holding guns in his hands as he takes down familiar and new foes throughout the game.

Not just that, we also got a brief tease for the game’s upcoming gameplay as well as a look at a brand new world. It seems the strategic gameplay will remain the same It certainly looks like we’re going to have another zany adventure at our hands.

  • From ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to ‘Halo: Infinite’: What We Hope to See at E3 2021

From ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to ‘Halo: Infinite’: What We Hope to See at E3 2021

It looks like the first major leak ahead of this year’s E3 gaming event has already found its way online. At this point, it almost seems like a tradition and it is time to look at what we can expect from the next few days. The event will offer us an insight into the future of gaming may it be on any hardware developments and, most excitingly, new games. sadly, Sony once again pulled out of the event but there are many other heavy-weights with some curious plans. The yearly tradition also returns with countless rumors hitting the internet teasing potential projects that may or may not get the spotlight at the event. I thought it’s the perfect time to maybe talk about some things I personally hope to see during the event.

    Marvel-ous Showcase

Black Panther Coming to Marvel's Avengers Game in War for Wakanda - Games Sport Sy

Now, it seems that Marvel is gaining some traction in the gaming world. 2018’s Spider-Man kicked off a new console generation getting to experience the life of our favorite superheroes and it seems like it could be more heading our way. There is a rumor going around that seems to have some validity that the developer of XCOM is preparing a game that explores the Marvel world. Of course, there is also the confirmed Black Panther: War for Wakanda that will get the focus during Marvel’s Avengers entry in the Square Enix panel. Here’s hoping we get other reveals for what the game’s first expansion has in store for us with the king of Wakanda in action. Of course, there is also the potential reveal of Eidos’ long-rumored Guardians of the Galaxy game finally getting revealed. It looks like this year’s E3 is looking marvel-ous already.

    Ninten-Do Some Reveals

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2: Kurzes Update zu Entwicklung & neuen Infos

Now, Nintendo has some major expectations surrounding its upcoming Nintendo Direct. It’ll be the last event of this year’s event, but it may hold some of the biggest surprises. People are still clamoring for a sequel to 2017’s Super Mario Odyssey but there is also the already announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel. It seems very likely that the latest Zelda entry will get a lot of attention, but we’re hoping for some surprise reveals. Metroid Prime 4 seems to be stuck in development hell for quite some time. My hopes are also surrounding a potential legacy series making a grand return, may it be Advance Wars or Golden Sun. Though F-Zero deserves a grand return to offer Nintendo some much-needed iconic racing action. Most likely, we’ll see a lot more of Splatoon 3 at the event, but here’s hoping Nintendo surprises us.

    Xbox Changing the Gaming Landscape

    Halo Infinite | Xbox

We all know that Xbox’s major showcase will be Halo: Infinite. Its grand return has been highly anticipated since they delayed the game to give it more attention. We might also get some grand reveals, but there is one thing many gamers are keeping a close eye on. Microsoft’s venture into game streaming with Xbox Game Pass has become quite the success story and it’ll be curious to see them expand it in new ways. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed the Nintendo Switch in the background of some Xbox interviews, which has many wondering if it might expand into Nintendo’s latest console. Of course, a personal hope would be the return of Banjo-Kazooie with a new entry or even just a remake of the original two games. We don’t know if Sony has some secret video planned to release during the event, but right now it’s looking good that Xbox might lead the charge into the future of gaming through their streaming offerings.

  • E3: Nintendo Leaks ‘Mario + Rabbids’ Sequel Ahead of Ubisoft Conference

E3: Nintendo Leaks ‘Mario + Rabbids’ Sequel Ahead of Ubisoft Conference

It looks like E3 may have started early by accident. Nintendo released the first look of the Mario + Rabbids sequel on their website with the subtitle Sparks of Home. The unlikely crossover game returns as Rayman‘s Rabbids enter the Mushroom Kingdom and spark a bizarre fusion of the two franchises. Strongly inspired by XCOM‘s gameplay style, it mixes Mario’s jump n’ run concept with strategy gameplay. The Italian plumber groups up with cosplaying Rabbids to take on unlikely foes and find out how their worlds collided. The sequel will take that concept out into space, as you’ll be exploring planets throughout the galaxies. Of course, if we are going beyond Earth, a lot of new characters are joining from Super Mario Galaxy, such as the key art teasing a Rabbid Rosalina.

The official post also includes a sneak peek of the new worlds that are mentioned on the site, which promise a very colorful and zany adventure like the first one:

You’ll once again be facing various bosses that may be familiar to long-time fans of the franchise. There is no release date stated but it seems to be eyeing a 2022 release. Of course, this wasn’t supposed to be readily available yet, as Jason Schreier confirmed it was one of the surprise reveals for the upcoming Ubisoft conference later today.

    https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1403680577258246144

Hopefully, we’ll get a better look at the game and some tears of what new additions have been added to the gameplay to keep things fresh. It’s still crazy to think that a Super Mario and Rabbids crossover would become popular enough to get a sequel and who knows what else this franchise may offer in the future. Makes you wonder when we get a Zelda + Rabbids game.

  • RUMOR: Title for 2022’s New ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Game Leaks Online

RUMOR: Title for 2022’s New ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Game Leaks Online

A few hours ago, Team Sonic revealed the first new entry in the franchise since 2017’s Sonic Forces. The pandemic didn’t help matters, as it delayed the release and announcement by quite a bit but it luckily was able to kick off the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. They didn’t offer any details on what the title will be called or what type of game it might be. The teaser simply showed our favorite hedgehog running freely through the forest before leaving a weird symbol behind. Well, one gaming modder took their time to analyze the 4K version of the new game’s teaser that may have revealed the game’s title.

Now, the fact that it might be called Sonic Rangers is even more interesting if you consider that some time ago there was a leak in January that mentioned a game with the same title. The franchise is not a stranger to 4chan leaks but so far only the gaming retailer leak for Sonic Colors Ultimate was confirmed. Of course, we still have to take this with a grain of salt as they could easily change the title at any point during development. There is also the question of this was just a test title that was added into the teaser’s assets. Sega did tease more reveals throughout the rest of the year. So, hopefully, we’ll get a better picture of what we can expect from the 2022 entry into the franchise and if we might be entering a completely new world of Sonic action.

  • RUMOR: New Details on a Possible ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ Remake Surface

RUMOR: New Details on a Possible ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ Remake Surface

More information is hitting the web hinting at the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic being in development. The original game released in 2003 and was followed by a sequel subtitled The Sith Lords. Sadly, the third entry was scrapped before The Old Republic MMORPG was released in 2011 and is still going strong. The story took place, as the name implies, 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire was formed. It has been a popular franchise that many wanted to see make a grand return even if it was via a Disney+ show. It’s looking more and more realistic.

We got the first report on it by Cinelinx’s Jordan Maison in January, where he revealed that EA isn’t involved. He also hinted at the game integrating elements from both entries to update it for the current Star Wars canon. Now, another report by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier hinted that the game is further in development than expected. He hinted that it has been kind development since 2019 and that Aspyr Media might be working on the game. There have also been rumors that BioWare is heavily involved, as they created the original.

Aspyr Media is no stranger to Star Wars, as they’ve been involved with various recent ports of Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Star Wars Racer. The reports seem to imply this will be a remake from the ground up, or if they are simply reworking the original to update it. There is also no word if this might also include a remake of the sequel or if they will rework the story. We could see a similar adaptation to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which split up its story in multiple sequels. We’ll see if we get an official remake in the near future.
