  • Audition Tape Seems to Confirm Mr. Immortal for ‘She-Hulk’

Audition Tape Seems to Confirm Mr. Immortal for ‘She-Hulk’

A few months back, an anonymous Reddit post indicated that the Marvel Studios Disney Plus streaming series She-Hulk would feature cameos from all sorts of wild and crazy Marvel characters. Names like Man-Bull, Porcupine and even Mr. Immortal where thrown out there as characters who would show up over the course of the 10-episode series. Now, thanks to what appears to be an audition tape for She-Hulk, one of those cameos could be confirmed.

The audition video, shared by The Cosmic Circus, features actor Tom Archdeacon speaking to a pair of female lawyers about a divorce. During the course of the discussion, the character mentions that rather than talk to his wife about a divorce, he chose to walk out into traffic and kill himself. He then goes on to reveal that he is immortal and explain how his powers work.

While Archdeacon refers to himself as “Doctor Revive” in the video, his powers fit the bill of Mr. Immortal, aka Craig Hollis, a member of the Great Lakes Avengers. Mr. Immortal is just the type of off-the-wall character that fans should expect from She-Hulk, which I continue to hear has more of a comedic tone than any MCU project to date.

While it seems the true identity of the character is hidden in the video, the scene fits the description from the original Reddit post which indicated Mr. Immortal would be seeking Jen Walters’ help with his divorce.

  • Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Reveals Emilia Clarke Fighting a Mysterious Assailant

Latest ‘Secret Invasion’ Set Video Reveals Emilia Clarke Fighting a Mysterious Assailant

While filming in Halifax, photos and videos of Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion set have been slowly coming to light. While previous images have given us our first look at certain actors such as Samuel L. Jackson, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, and Cobie Smulders, much about the future Disney+ series remains under wraps. Yet, it seems that it wasn’t quite the end of our glipses behind the scenes.

There is still no official word on Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke’s character, and considering the series involves shape-shifting Skrulls, many characters are bound to remain mysterious until the series eventually ends. While previous videos have shown her character acting suspicious, a new set video appears to show Clarke’s character in some sort of fight with someone wearing a grey motion-capture CGI suit. While the video does not include audio, it looks like the CGI character is choking Clarke’s character out while she’s on the ground. See it here:

    https://twitter.com/Daenerys4lyfe/status/1500450021703315460

While the motion-capture suit character could be anything, a Super Skrull is an obvious guess in Secret Invasion. The video does not show a lot, but it does suggest that Clarke could be in some action scenes and potentially at odds with at least one version of it. We’ve seen practical make-up for the regular Skrulls. So, it might open up the window to their overly-sized powered versions to join as well. The series will not drop on Disney+ anytime soon, so fans have plenty of time to speculate while hype builds for the highly-anticipated show.

  • ‘The Batman’s Matt Reeves Teases Horror-Themed Arkham Asylum Spinoff Series

‘The Batman’s Matt Reeves Teases Horror-Themed Arkham Asylum Spinoff Series

The Batman is just the beginning of a brighter future for a new cinematic universe primarily focused on the Caped Crusader and his colorful cast of supporting characters. One of the first confirmed projects was one focused on Gotham P.D. but we did hear rumors that it may have gotten a new focus. It seemed like the project was going to explore Arkham Asylum rather than the usual police storyline. We only had the project name to go by at the time, but director Matt Reeves has finally confirmed the new direction.

The GCDP thing, that story has story has kinda evolved. We’ve actually now [moved] more into the realm of exactly what would happen in the world of Arkham as it relates coming off of our movie, and some of the characters… almost leaning into the idea of… it’s like a horror movie or a haunted house that is Arkham.

    Matt Reeves

The horror themes seem quite promising, especially if they fully embrace the insanity that is Arkham in the comics. That is not all, as the director has also teased the direction the project will go and hinted that we might get a bit more from his rogue’s gallery in the series.

The idea, again the way that Gotham is a character in the movie, I really want Arkham to exist as a character. You go into this environment and encounter these characters in a way that feels really fresh. And so in our work on Gotham, that story started to evolve, and it started feeling [like], ‘Wait, we should really lean into this.’ And then that’s kinda where that’s gone

    Matt Reeves

There were teases of Batman’s first year has already introduced some familiar villains into this universe, and it’s unclear if these series will all build up into a united storyline, or if they are all acting as separate projects to further explore the universe that this version of the Dark Knight lives in. No matter what direction Reeves‘ vision might be heading towards, the film already gave us a promising starting point and hopefully we’ll find out sooner rather than later when we might expect the new series.

  • ‘The Boys’ Pays Tribute to ‘The Batman’ With New Character Posters

‘The Boys’ Pays Tribute to ‘The Batman’ With New Character Posters

Here’s a cute little gag from the team over at The Boys. As the show heavily deals with a group of normal people taking on corrupted superheroes, the release of The Batman seemed like a perfect time for some cheeky cross-promotion. As such, their marketing team seemingly whipped up a few character posters that are heavily inspired by the DC character’s long history in cinemas. The Female gets the most recent adaptation based on The Batman while Mother’s Milk gets the 1989 treatment. You can check out the clever posters right here:

It’s a clever idea to not only promote the upcoming season but also pay tribute to the recent release. A little disappointed they didn’t do this with other superhero films that have been released since the series started, but perhaps it gave them a taste for the idea and we’ll see more in the future. There’s still no new trailer for the upcoming season, as most of the attention has gone to the animated spinoff Diabolical. That might get some screentime for another few weeks before we get a new look at what’s to come. We’ve already had quite a lot teased with some heavy promotion of new characters. So, we’ll see if Homelander is about to give the spotlight to someone else soon.

  • A New Twitter Account for Disney+’s ‘Andor’ Has Been Spotted

A New Twitter Account for Disney+’s ‘Andor’ Has Been Spotted

It looks like Lucasfilm is ramping up for something, as another private Twitter account has been noticed online. Just last week, fans have noticed that an Obi-Wan Kenobi account was created, which added some heat to marketing plans already being prepared for an eventual reveal. So far, we only got the poster for the series that releases in late May, and now it seems that another Star Wars series got a private account, the Rogue One spinoff, Andor.

Unlike the previous Disney+ series, this one still has no release date or any promotional material surrounding it. It even was left out the Disney+ Day announcements for some reason. Andor has been highly anticipated for it to tell the stories before the character of Diego Luna‘s Cassian Andor would meet up with Jyn Erso. The new account has been discovered by @bigscreenleaks, who shared the screenshot for the Twitter account also confirming it was likely created in February alongside the Obi-Wan Kenobi one.

    https://twitter.com/bigscreenleaks/status/1500165238372642817

While we still didn’t get a trailer as initially expected, there’s a good chance that they are preparing everything for May 4th, which is when Lucasfilm generally celebrates all things Star Wars. Currently, most of their focus has been on promoting the Starcruiser attraction, even if it’s a shame on how little they promote their biggest IP, especially considering how many projects are on the horizon. Here’s hoping that this spotting may further some hints that an announcement, release date, or at least a tease is on the horizon.

  • NBC’s ‘Quantum Leap’ Revival Adds Raymond Lee

NBC’s ‘Quantum Leap’ Revival Adds Raymond Lee

NBC is pushing forward on its remake of the cult classic sci-fi drama from the 90s, Quantum Leap. It looks like they have found their successor to Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) in actor Raymond Lee, who will take on the leading role of Dr. Ben Seong. His character will not only be a scientist but also a man of faith, as he is part of a new team trying to revive the project which saw the disappearance of Becket almost 30 years ago. The only tease for the film’s plot is that their experiment will see Seong get stuck in the late 1980s with amnesia.

The series will take place in the current time with nods to the original with La Brea executive producers Steven Lilien and Bryan Wyndbrandt writing the script The original creator Don Bellisario is also involved alongside co-narrator Deborah Pratt. Universal Television is producing the project alongside I Have an Idea! Entertainment, Belisarius Productions, and Quinn’s House Productions.

Lee has been busy with his work on AMC’s Kevin Can F*** Himself, which is going to come to an end in its second season. He also has worked on projects like Here and Now, Mozart in the Jungle, Made for Love, Scandal, and Prodigal Son. It’ll be interesting to see how his character steps into the shoes of Beckett and how they might twist the original concept in a way that adds more tension to his travel into the past.

  • Krysten Ritter Revisits Her ‘Jessica Jones’ Look and Sparks Speculation

Krysten Ritter Revisits Her ‘Jessica Jones’ Look and Sparks Speculation

It’s been some time since we got our first hints that Krysten Ritter might return as Jessica Jones in the upcoming She-Hulk series. Yet, there was nothing that really hinted at her appearance. Charlie Cox‘s appearance as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the recent addition of the Netflix series on Disney+ added to the rest of the Marvel series’ cast potentially appearing. Now, a new series of photos hint at her returning to the classic Jones look.

Hairstylist Melanie Jacobs shared a curious series of photos of Ritter, which has her in the same hairdo that she had during her time as the private investigator. Not only that, she is even wearing a very similar leather jacket in the photos with a purple shirt, one of the character’s recurring colors. You can check them out here:

We can’t take this as a confirmation that she’s definitely returning, especially with the rumors hinting at a series that technically already wrapped production. Yet, it may hint at Krysten Ritter potentially returning to the role in another project. Otherwise, she may just have made the style her own and wanted to revisit it.

Her potential return has been a popular theory as of late, and it’s unclear where she might make her return outside of the law-focused storyline featuring a new generation of Hulk. Ritter offered a great take on the character and it would be a shame not to see her return. Hopefully, Marvel Studios has some plans to announce in the near future to build on the momentum of the Netflix series joining Disney+.

  • Disney+ Expanding With Ad-Supported Subscription

    Disney+ Expanding With Ad-Supported Subscription

Subscriber numbers are the game for streaming services. Netflix has built an empire with its offering that gave people the opportunity to stream their favorite films or TV series without a care in the world. One big aspect was that it’s ad-free, which was a big selling point for many and also the reason for some of the pricing out there. Yet, with massive competition, the market is forced to change. Disney+ has now announced that their service will provide an ad-supported subscription model in the US in late 2022.

There are also plans to expand internationally in 2023, which will make it the first ad-based in many markets worldwide. While the advertising industry might rejoice at this development, it’s definitely something that’ll be met with a mixed reception. The lower pricing will make it enticing for those not willing to pay the full price. Yet, some European countries might be concerned about the use of their personal information, especially with local laws like the GDPR in effect.

This isn’t new for Disney, as they’ve done something similar with ESPN+ and Hulu, who was the first ad-supported streaming offering on the market. Yet, it was only in the US so far and it’ll be interesting to see how the reception is international. According to Disney, they believe that it’s a building block to hit their long-term target of 230 to 260M subscribers by the fiscal year of 2024.

Mia Katigbak & Rory O’Malley Join ABC’s ‘Josep’ From Jo Koy

ABC is ramping up the casting for its Jo Koy pilot, Josep.

  • Nico Greetham Joins Final Season of Hulu’s ‘Love, Victor’

Nico Greetham Joins Final Season of Hulu’s ‘Love, Victor’

Nico Greetham is joining the cast of Hulu’s Love, Victor.

The news comes courtesy of Deadline, with the outlet reporting Greetham is joining in a recurring role. He will be playing a character named Nick, a new friend Victor (Michael Cimino) meets at church.

The Hulu series Love, Victor is a companion series to the film Love, Simon. That film starred Nick Robinson as the titular Simon, a high school student trying to be comfortable with himself – and not hiding who he is for the sake of others. The Hulu series, Love, Victor, is much the same, this time turning its focus on Victor Salazar. Having just moved from rural Texas to Atlanta, Victor is just trying to fit in at Creekwood High. However, Victor is still trying to find out who he is, and that includes trying to comprehend his sexuality, which is a difficult task in a super religious family. Luckily, Simon is on hand to help Victor learn to accept his authentic self and that he is worthy of love.

Greetham is perhaps best known for his role as the Yellow Ranger/Calvin on Nickelodeon’s Power Rangers Ninja Steel, however, he has also appeared in American Horror Stories and American Horror Story: Double Feature for FX
