‘Madame Web’ Adds ‘The Upshaw’s Mike Epps

It looks like the Madame Weeb film has added one more to its cast in the form of The UpshawsMike Epps. The upcoming project from Jessica Jones‘ S.J. Clarkson already added Dakota Johnson in the titular role joined by Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Tahar Rahim, and Celeste O’Connor. Little is known about the Spider-Man spinoff but there have been hints it might be Sony’s answer to Doctor Strange and actively a unique project under a different mask.

There’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding what exactly Sony’s endgame is with their various projects. We got a rather awkward post-credits sequence with Morbius meeting Vulture from the mainline MCU timeline. It’s never explained why he’s brought into a different dimension and perhaps they’ll use Madame Web’s connection to the Spider-Verse as a way to explain that very connection.

The big question is also who is the Spider-Man of Sony’s universe. They seemingly hint that it’s not going to be Tom Holland, who still remains as part of the mainline MCU. So, perhaps they are bringing back a familiar face. Yet, they could also be adding someone new to take on the role, especially with the possibility of having Miles Morales take on the mantle. It’s only speculation but we’ll see if Madame Web might finally answer these questions.

  • First Set Photos Seemingly Surface for Apple TV+’s ‘Godzilla’ Spinoff Series

First Set Photos Seemingly Surface for Apple TV+’s ‘Godzilla’ Spinoff Series

Here’s a surprise, as while we know that WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman has joined the production team to direct the untitled Godzilla spinoff series for Apple TV+, we know very little about the rest. Only recently did we get the actual casting announcements for five additions while rumors are still circling the web on father-son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell joining the production. Now, it seems that they are already setting up camp (literally) in Vancouver to film the Monsterverse entry.

Twitter user @JaniceRafael has shared that a production company EP Hydronaut Canada is building what seems like a refuge camp. The site Vancouver is Awesome highlights it is part of the Godzilla series and will feature 180 background actors, teasing the scale of the production.

We don’t see a lot but it does give us a window into the production timing. It might be safe to say that they’ll start working on the Apple TV+ series rather soon if they are already preparing sets. The series announcement came after the success of Godzilla vs. Kong, which in some ways kicked off the current revival of the theatrical box office. With a sequel also already confirmed for 2024, it doesn’t look like the Monsterverse is slowing down anytime soon.

We still don’t know who will be the focus of the next film given how the previous one ended, but it does seem like the Toho monster is going to leave his presence known in the TV series while rumors are pointing to a Song of Kong-inspired sequel heading to theaters. Perhaps we’ll find out more as the series gets an official title.

  • ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Almost Featured a Deadpool Dimension

‘Doctor Strange 2’ Almost Featured a Deadpool Dimension

In the multiverse, anything is possible. When Doctor Strange was first teased to venture beyond his own dimension, we were excited to see how it comes together and what dimension he might visit. Surprisingly, the film showed restraint and focused on its main character’s development. Still, there were some unused ideas for dimensions, as revealed in the latest Assembled entry from Marvel Studios that offers a glimpse behind the scenes.

In the latest episode, it offered a look behind the scenes at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness alongside some concept art for a scrapped dimension that almost was. While most are simple and visually stunning, there is one that stands out quite a bit among them as it seems just features a variety of posters featuring Deadpool.

    via The Direct

If you zoom in, you can see that it includes some comic covers and even the Deadpool 2 poster that featured Josh Brolin‘s Cable. So, we may have almost had a Deadpool inclusion inclusion after all even if it would’ve just been brief.

    via The Direct

The concept art doesn’t really offer a glimpse of what the Deadpool dimension would’ve offered, but one could imagine a lot of people running around with Deadpool masks. Though it seems mostly like one side is filled to the brim with posters and nothing else, which could potentially just be used as a reference and is all they would’ve shown. The fun idea would’ve been for Deadpool to just throw on the posters as they fly by as he winks. We might never know what it was going to be, but it’s fun to speculate.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘Shang-Chi’ May Have Introduced Phase 4’s Infinity Stones

‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘Shang-Chi’ May Have Introduced Phase 4’s Infinity Stones

There have been many comments on a lack of connection between the various projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s elusive Phase 4. While it’s echoing the days of when the MCU was in its infancy, long before anyone made heads or tails about Thanos’ brief grin at the tail end of Avengers, there has been a running theme going throughout the season. Many of the stories explored here are about identity and uncovering what we are capable of. There’s also the mystery set out in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as mysterious tools are appearing with uncertain origins. The same goes for the recent Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, where she uses bangles that are a mystery to even the Clandestine seeking them.

Yet, the latest episode introduced a surprising twist to a familiar aspect of Kamala Kan’s power. In the comics, she doesn’t actually shapeshift but rather borrows mass from herself throughout time. In the series, she actually gains the literal ability to travel through time and ends up during the Partition to help her own family’s history come true. It’s a rather surprising twist that not only gave us time to explore an important part of history but also continue to evolve Kamala’s power set. This does lead to more questions regarding the mysterious origins and how they might tie to the Kree, given it was on a blue arm and the Ten Rings logo.

Once I started thinking about the time travel implications in this series, the more I started to think about the loose connection at play here. We did have an entire scene where no one could connect the origins of the Ten Rings, a weapon that’s been part of MCU’s history long before we even witnessed it ourselves. How would technology that advanced find its way into the hands of Wenwu that not only give him seemingly eternal life but also the power to take down an entire army and how would it connect to the mysterious bangles passed down in the Khan family? The Disney+ series producers did hint that they adapted them for a bigger story, and perhaps they weren’t hinting at just The Marvels but even beyond that.

Well, there is actually one connective tissue that would tie it together. It’s not stated outright but I believe these two mysterious items are linked. In a way, they likely have a similar origin and that is one that doesn’t lie in the past. In Loki, we’ve met a Variant of the man that would be known as Kang the Conqueror to many. Time travel and dimensional travel have been at the forefront for most of the season, as the MCU cleverly tied these elements together to avoid having to explain two distinct sci-fi concepts.

Fittingly, both elements come together in this season of Ms. Marvel. Similar to the dimension introduced in Shang-Chi, the Clandestine are actually from another dimension they refer to as Noor and have been on Earth for a long time. Both projects feature a mysterious object that gives its wielder mysterious powers of an unknown origin that could potentially open up the MCU’s mythos in new ways. Perhaps these objects have these powers because they aren’t from any past civilization but rather originate from the future.

Kang the Conqueror has that name for a reason. With an arsenal unlike any other at his hand, it wouldn’t be too surprising that he’d also find a way to echo the words of Thor’s explanation of how Asgardians combine magic and technology. He’s found a way to harness exactly that to create an arsenal of weapons he used for his own conquering throughout history only to leave them behind when he made his jump. Moon Knight almost featured the man that was a pharao in another timeline, which further pushes a connection.

Perhaps Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced the only weapon that would be able to take him down, someone who can literally bend reality to her knees. Wanda may be the piece of the puzzle that won’t become apparent until much later. In a way, the unnamed bangles and Shang-Chi‘s Ten Rings are actually Phase 4’s new Infinity Stones. Instead of literal embodiments of powers, they are objects all hinting at one major threat and the power he truly holds. Kang the Conqueror doesn’t need to collect any stones to accomplish his goals, he already has done so in another time. Yet, his arrogance of leaving these objects in the past may also become his undoing.

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’s Set Tour Reveals a Clever Infinity Gauntlet Easter Egg

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’s Set Tour Reveals a Clever Infinity Gauntlet Easter Egg

We’re just a day away from Thor: Love and Thunder finally hitting theaters. There’s still a lot we don’t know about the upcoming film but with reviews at a strong 72% on Rotten Tomatoes, it does seem like we’re in for a fun ride once again from the crazy mind that is Taika Waititi. In a new fun set visit from Entertainment Tonight featuring Chris Hemsworth and Waititi showing off the set that is the backdrop of New Asgard. In it, he reveals a fun Thanos Easter egg

In the background, we can see an ice cream store in New Asgard titled “Infinity Conez” with the Infinity Gauntlet sticking out of the building. If you look closely in the video, we can even see that the Infinity Stones are stuck in the ice cream cone it is holding. While it’s surprising anyone would try to market their store based on the one thing that destroyed half of all life in the universe, but it’s a fun idea nonetheless.

There are also a lot of fun details included such as the logo for Infinity being designed after the Avengers movie logo. Who knows what else might be included in New Asgard, as the city became quite the tourist attraction. Who wouldn’t want to visit the location where the God of Thunder lived, one of the men that would save the planet from a threat unlike any other. Perhaps they have a place to chop off Thanos’s head with a fake Stormbreaker for kids to have something to do while visiting.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’ Actress Shares What It’s Like Retelling South Asian History

‘Ms. Marvel’ Actress Shares What It’s Like Retelling South Asian History

The latest episode of Ms. Marvel has arrived and gave us something that mixes a personal story with one of an important part of history. We take a look back into the past that was the Partition, an important milestone in South Asian history that isn’t something many people have come to learn. In this episode, we meet Kamala Khan’s great-grandmother Aisha, who is played by Mehwish Hayat. In an interview with Total Film, she offered some insight into what it was like being part of the MCU.

The experience itself was magical for me being Aisha and being, as a Pakistani actress, launched on such a global platform. It’s Marvel, it doesn’t get any better than that

    Mehwish Hayat

Of course, the big part of the story is the exploration of the Partition, which was a big moment in history for South Asians. So, being able to tell that story on a platform as large as Disney+ definitely puts more eyes on the events.

It’s a very important part in the history of South Asians. All of us know about it, and our ancestors have actually gone through the pain, the trouble, and struggle with all that went down. It is a very sentimental episode in our lives and our history. It will be amazing for South Asian people of the younger generation to get a glimpse of that. And also for the Western audiences who didn’t have any idea about this happening in the world, they’re being introduced to this time in our history.

    Mehwish Hayat

The big part Hayat adds is how it’ll let others understand “the pain that we went through” and how it’s a historical event that unites people. Hayat praises Marvel for embracing the storyline and not shying away from exploring it.

It will allow them to actually understand the pain that we went through,” she adds. “It just brings people together and I think it creates that bridge between them to understand on a human level that, ‘Oh my god, this is how much they suffered.’ It’s such a beautiful way that Marvel has actually been brave enough, or experimental enough, to incorporate that.

    Mehwish Hayat

It definitely was interesting to witness it and it does make you wish they got to spend more time with it. We got a memorable performance from everyone involved, and just seeing history brought to life like this will mean something important for those that passively lived through it through their ancestors.

  • ‘Guardians of the Galaxy ‘ Director Confirms New Awesome Mix for Holiday Special

‘Guardians of the Galaxy ‘ Director Confirms New Awesome Mix for Holiday Special

The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise just wouldn’t be the same without its iconic music. Director James Gunn added a lot of energy to the franchise with his work and made some songs deeply tied to the space-traveling pirates that end up saving the world at random times here or there. With not only a third entry on the horizon but also a Holiday Special, many wondered if both projects may end up getting their own music.

Luckily, James Gunn confirmed that a new Awesome Mix is heading our way with the upcoming Disney+ Holiday Special. There are no details on what songs he might include but given the topic, we might get some fun Christmas and Holiday songs were thrown into the mix that might add something special. Here’s hoping there are even some surprises thrown into the mix that will catch us off-guard.

There’s likely a chance we’ll get a glimpse of the music once the first trailer drops. As it’s definitely heading for a Holiday release later this year, we might not see the official trailer until October given they usually release the first trailer for a Disney+ project around two months in advance. Of course, it’s just a theory but it definitely will be interesting to see how the music for these projects may also differentiate between the Holiday Special and the third entry that’ll follow in 2023.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Duffer Brothers Working on Live-Action ‘Death Note’ Series for Netflix

‘Stranger Things’ Duffer Brothers Working on Live-Action ‘Death Note’ Series for Netflix

It looks like Netflix isn’t quite done with Stranger Things or Death Note, as the Duffer Brothers‘ newly founded Upside Down Pictures is now involved with a new production. Orphan Black and Ozark’s Hilary Leavitt joined the production house to run it and they are actively working on another attempt at a live-action Death Note series for the streaming giant.

There are no details on how they might be tackling this adaptation outside of it definitely being a series, unlike the 2017 film adaptation. There’s no word if they are only in a producing role or if they might even be showrunning the project, as they will also be busy on adapting Stephen King and Peter Straub‘s The Talisman. It’s Netflix’s second attempt at the franchise created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.

In 2017, Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater alongside director Adam Wingard gave their shot at bringing the franchise to life. Supposedly, a sequel was even in development by Greg Russo back in 2021 but this new series may be a hint at that project having been scrapped at some point. The concept does lend itself more to a serialized format, yet even a Japanese production broke the first half of the original manga into two films back in 2006. Whatever they have planned, Willem Dafoe is still the perfect Ryuk. So whatever they may end up going, they should still bring him back if he is game to bring the Shinigami back to life.

  • ‘The Walking Dead’ Cinematographer Joins Sony’s ‘Madame Web’, Hints at Marvel Studios’ Involvement

‘The Walking Dead’ Cinematographer Joins Sony’s ‘Madame Web’, Hints at Marvel Studios’ Involvement

Sony has been busy preparing work on their upcoming Madame Web film, which will see an all-star cast consisting of Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, and Isabela Merced. Jessica JonesS.J. Clarkson will spearhead the project and direct the film based on a screenplay by Kerem Sanga, Matt Sazaa, and Burk Sharpless. Now, it seems that The Walking Dead cinematographer Duane Charles Manwiller has not only confirmed his involvement but added someone else’s as well.

Manwiller has seemingly added to his Instagram account that he is actively working on the latest Spider-Man spinoff film from Sony that will likely not feature the webhead. After Venom, Morbius and the still in-production Kraven the Hunter, Sony has been trying to get its own franchise running. Yet, which might surprise many, Manwiller may have hinted that Marvel Studios is also involved with the production.

There have been rumors that Olivia Wilde‘s unconfirmed Spider-Woman film would also be co-produced by Marvel Studios, as she hinted at Kevin Feige‘s involvement. Perhaps he’s started taking a more active role in these projects, but there’s no real confirmation on how the project will come together. If it is indeed under Marvel studios’ umbrella, we’ll likely get the logo included with the official reveal. Yet, there’s also a chance he simply added it in as it seemed to be part of the co-production that Tom Holland is leading.

  • New Rumor Teases Daredevil Seeking a Fellow Defender in ‘Echo’

New Rumor Teases Daredevil Seeking a Fellow Defender in ‘Echo’

There have been quite a few rumors surrounding the upcoming Echo series. Not only would it continue the storyline of the character introduced in Hawkeye, but also potentially add even more screentime for Charlie Cox’s return as Daredevil. Now, a new rumor has hit the web from the folks over at Weekly Planet. During the Hot Scoop or a Shot of Poop segment, James Clement hinted at what he heard about the upcoming appearance of the Man Without Fear.

While the series is still set to focus on Alaqua Cox‘s character, it does seem like Daredevil will be featured in around three episodes. Vincent D’Onofrio is also set to return and will be around for four of the total six episodes. He may be wearing an eye patch from his last meeting with his adoptive daughter. The big reveal, however, is that Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil is actively seeking his fellow Defender, Jessica Jones.

Yep, Daredevil is in it for three episodes, as in Charlie Cox. Kingpin, Vinnie D’Onofrio is in four. The Kingpin storyline is building up to him running for mayor of New York City. Apparently, he’s going to be wearing an eye patch because he was shot in the head in Hawkeye… Daredevil is also going to be rocking a red and black suit and is looking for Jessica Jones.

    James Clement

There have been rumors that Krysten Ritter was potentially going to make a return in one of the upcoming Disney+ series. Her arrival in the Echo project would be quite the surprise and could hint at a cameo. The question is also why he’s actively looking for her. Perhaps she has some dirt to take down Fisk once again, or a Defenders reunion is in our future?

Disney+ did recently change the title of the Netflix series to A.K.A. Jessica Jones, which further hints at some kind of major plan for the character with a potential new series. We might have to wait a little longer until we truly find out but if this rumor turns out to be true, Echo could be climbing people’s must-watch lists.
