UPDATE: Andrew Garfield’s Stunt Double on ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’ Rumors

UPDATE: It looks like another comment has been discovered by William Spencer on the discussions surrounding The Amazing Spider-Man 3. As shared previously, the Andrew Garfield stunt double seemingly hinted at something being in the works, but The Direct uncovered another comment that was tucked away, where he confirms he has no info on the rumored The Amazing Spider-Man 3 revival.

As we stated in our article below, he reacted with a thank you to a previous congratulations on a revival, very likely spurred by the Forbes piece that seemed to hint at one being already in development.

Ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters, there’s been a lot to digest on the future of Spider-Man. Many were happy to see Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire‘s return to the iconic roles, but it also brought back a new love for The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. So much that it even became a trending topic and people wanted to see the revival of the third entry. Garfield is even a popular choice to face off against Venom, as many believe his Peter Parker exists in that specific universe while Tom Holland continues in the MCU. Well, a slip up by Garfield‘s stunt double may have confirmed that Sony is reviving The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

In a new post, William Spencer shared that he is currently recovering from an Achilles injury. Many comments hinted at their interest in him returning to stunt double in the third entry with one user even congratulating on a project that isn’t officially announced. Well, it’s his reaction to the statement that has caught everyone’s attention, as he seemingly thanks him for the congratulations and may have confirmed that a project may be in some form of development or at least talks.

The reason we run it as a rumor is due to a Forbes article adding some confusion to the mix. Sony originally wanted Garfield to face off against the Sinister Six, who were going to get their own film. And amidst the Venom rumors, an article titled “Andrew Garfield Likely Returning As Spider-Man to Fight Venom, Sinister Six” started adding more fuel to the fire that the project is happening. Yet, it seems that most of the piece is pure speculation on Sony wanting to capitalize on the success of No Way Home. So, this could be the basis of him believing a third entry is in development. So far, we only heard that the fourth entry of Hollands‘ run is in development, but there are still many rumors hinting at Garfield not being done with Spidey. So, we’ll take this with a grain of salt for now, but hope that Sony unveils its future plans in the near future.

  • REVIEW: ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Chapter 1 – Stranger in a Strange Land

REVIEW: ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Chapter 1 – Stranger in a Strange Land

After a long wait, The Book of Boba Fett has finally premiered on Disney+. After making his grand return as the titular character in The Mandalorian, Temuera Morrison continues the story in the first of many spinoffs that’ll expand the galaxy far, far away. The first episode “Stranger in a Strange Land” takes a very different approach to what you may expect from what was teased as Star Wars‘ take on the Godfather. While we still get those elements that hint at the series’ bigger picture, it takes a few steps back to build up the character we always knew surprisingly little about. Does it falter under the weight of expectation, or shine new light upon the Mandalorian clone?

Most of the episode is spent with the aftermath of 1983’s Return of the Jedi, as we finally find out how exactly Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc Pit. It was almost expected that they’d fill in the blanks that were left purposefully vague before, as it strengthens the character we’re about to see grow throughout this series. Yet, we already know he survived and it left us questioning what these extensive flashbacks will bring to the series’ overarching narrative. The actual plotline revolves around Boba’s new role as the daimyo after taking over from Bib Fortuna. Yet, we spend very little time with him in that role.

The biggest mystery set up in this episode is the identity of the “Mayor.” He’s hinted at as Boba’s biggest threat, especially when he’s the only one who refuses to not pay tribute to the new underworld leader. There’s an interesting conflict brewing between these two parties, but the episode doesn’t effectively use its runtime to focus on the world-building of Tatooine’s underbelly. We see a casino, he gets attacked (and his ass handed to him) before we move back to the flashback. While it worked as an opening segment to tease future development, it is trying to build something up that has no clear goal.

The Book of Boba Fett‘s opening is sadly more lukewarm than exciting due to the first episode not set up many future plotlines to explore. The cliffhanger we are left with is Boba back in his flashback. There’s a lost momentum to what exactly the show is trying to be or even set up. We have no clear indication if these flashbacks and his time with the Tusken Raiders might connect to the current storyline. It’s good they don’t give too much away, but it leaves you wondering what exactly the show is going for after the credits roll.

It’s strange how often Morrison gets beaten up in this first episode. While it makes sense in the flashbacks, he makes his grand entrance as the new Tatooine Kingpin only for random stragglers to pretty much beat him so badly, he needs to go back to the Bacta tank. I am not sure if him quitting halfway early on was a hint that he’s out of it, but when he and Ming-Na Wen‘s Fennec Shand get surrounded, it seemed odd they couldn’t get out without help. It does fall back on the “jetpack” fallacy, as he could’ve easily flown out of there, but he didn’t even give it a thought.

The action still has its moments, his fight at the end was well done and gave Boba a moment to finally shine. Shand’s chase sequence was probably a highlight, as she uses clever – even if unclear – tactics to outmaneuver their attackers. Yet, it felt like something was missing throughout the show, especially with how little its titular character is used. He does get a cheap shot in, which is potentially to highlight his conflict on ruling with fear or respect, which is very likely going to be his character arc. We’ll see if future episodes will offer a clearer picture of where the show is heading.

Chloé Zhao Reveals ‘Eternals’ Original, More Depressing Ending and Why it Changed

Films change quite a bit throughout their lengthy development process. Eternals is no exception, as director Chloé Zhao discusses in an interview with Empire how much the film has changed throughout the process. She highlights how she’s never “made a single film where the opening and ending stay the same as the script, just because the scenes are fluid as we shoot.” She highlights that there was one end that was more “melancholy” than what blockbuster fans are used to that was changed in the development process.

And we actually had another ending that is really bleak. Bleak. I didn’t hate it, because I’m used to films that are more melancholy. But I don’t think it went down well with audiences. It used to end with everybody back on the ship, minds erased and just going on to another planet, like The Twilight Zone. I remember when it goes to black, everyone was like, ‘I don’t know what to do.’ And also, it’s the MCU, and you want to be excited for what’s next.

    Chloé Zhao

It seems that this ending was also going to be a bit more depressing and Harry Styles‘ Eros was originally going to have a role in it, which opens up quite a few interesting questions on how much his original role changed given how he is introduced in the final cut.

I can tell you why! Long story short, with that depressing ending, at some point he was going to be one of the Eternals on that ship. And that didn’t quite work out.

    Chloé Zhao

It would’ve been interesting to see this vicious cycle continue, especially after just saving a planet, but I do agree that it would’ve bookended their story much faster than what some MCU fans are used to. Yet, it may have added an interesting dilemma and added quite a bit of drama to the events that unfolded throughout the film. Yet, the open-ended judgment by Arishem does also continue the bleaker tone that the ending was going for without directly ending their specific journey.

  • REPORT: First Look at ‘Tron 3’s New Flynn’s Arcade Hints at an Early 2022 Production Start

REPORT: First Look at ‘Tron 3’s New Flynn’s Arcade Hints at an Early 2022 Production Start

It looks like our friends over at DisInsider may have gotten their hands on something quite interesting. Last year, it seemed like Disney was moving forward with a third entry in the cult classic Tron series, which will receive the sub-title, Ares. Jared Leto is attached with Garth Davis set to direct the project. Sadly, news died down considerably since and we haven’t really gotten any new details since. Luckily, it seems that DisInsider’s John Bishop was able to get his hands on some set photos featuring an updated look for the iconic Flynn’s Arcade.

If sets are already being built and prepared, it’s a good sign that production may start in early 2022. Of course, this isn’t enough to really hammer down a specific start date, but it’s enough to at least get a feeling that things are finally moving forward. It’s uncertain if they’ll dive into the classic designs provided by the original Tron from 1982, or continue the neon look from Tron: Legacy.

The return of Flynn’s Arcade does confirm that it’ll continue the building blocks set by the previous, as this is the location where Sam would get transported into the digitized world of The Grid. It might also be where the next storyline starts off, as the next person gets sucked into this new world.

  • James Gunn Offers New Look at ‘Peacemaker’s Judomaster

James Gunn Offers New Look at ‘Peacemaker’s Judomaster

While the holidays are a quiet period for Hollywood, we still get some teases here or there to tie us over into the new year. Luckily, DC fans won’t have to wait long until they get their first new property in 2022, as we’ll get a spinoff for The Suicide Squad focused on John Cena‘s Peacemaker. As we’re only 17 days away from its release, director James Gunn took to Twitter to offer a closer look at one of its newest additions, Judo Master.

Nhut Le will take on the role in the HBO Max series, which is taking a lot of inspiration from the original Charlton Comics, which included quite a few iconic characters that would eventually become mainstays in the DC universe. Le‘s upcoming take is quite a departure from the original, especially in the costume department. Instead of his white-red costume, he has one that is fully in green that seems closer to what we saw Nathan Filion‘s TDK was wearing. It’ll be interesting to see how he brings the character to life and how he’ll interact with Peacemaker and Vigilante.

  • RUMOR: ‘Monsters at Work’s Studio Working on Lucasfilm Project, Potentially ‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’

RUMOR: ‘Monsters at Work’s Studio Working on Lucasfilm Project, Potentially ‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’

Not too long ago, we’ve noticed that a new Star Wars project may have accidentally leaked through a Lucasfilm’s employee gift. Alongside the logos of already announced projects, there’s the inclusion of something titled Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. We’ve never heard of this project before and it opened the floodgates of what it might be about. Well, it seems some clever Redditors have potentially found an answer.

User CommanderVisor has noticed that ICON Creative Studios is employing people for an unannounced animated project. The studio is well-known for its animated projects targeted at a younger audience, which includes The Rocketeer, Elena of Avaltor, and more. They’ve also worked on Disney+’s recent Monsters Inc. sequel, Monsters at Work.

Of course, there’s no concrete confirmation, and even The Bespin Bulletin is mainly speculating it might be this project. Yet, it seems possible that the project they are working on is the unannounced Tales of the Jedi. We’ll have to take it with a grain of salt until there’s a clearer confirmation, but it seems like Lucasfilm is trying to also cater to a younger audience with this new offering.

  • RUMOR: ‘God of War Ragnarok’ Leak Hints at a Late September Release

RUMOR: ‘God of War Ragnarok’ Leak Hints at a Late September Release

We’ve all been wondering what the future holds for God of War Ragnarok, as we continue to await its release. The story of Kratos and his son Atreus continues, as Fimbulwinter has arrived to change their lives potentially forever. We were quite excited when we got a glimpse of the sequel’s gameplay and a confirmation it would end the franchise’s Norse storyline. Sadly, the game’s release did get pushed back into 2022 after originally eyeing a release this year, but it seems a new leak may have given us a hint at when to expect it.

In a post by PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, it seems that the PlayStation Database has accidentally leaked the release date slot for the game for September 30th of 2022. As they point out, there’s a chance it is just a placeholder, but it falls on a Friday which is in line with previous releases. If a placeholder is already set, it could be a hint that the next trailer would offer us a clear indicator of when it might release.

September seems like a fitting time to release the game, as it’ll be a big seller for Sony’s PlayStation. Of course, releasing closer to the holidays will make it on the top list for many. Plus, there’s something fun about playing a game that takes place during an endless Winter as of September. Of course, we still need to take this news with a grain of salt, and it’ll be interesting to see if we get an official release confirmation early in the new year.

  • ‘Squid Game’ Creator Already in Talks With Netflix for a Season 3

‘Squid Game’ Creator Already in Talks With Netflix for a Season 3

It looks like the creator of Netflix’s international smash hit Squid Game is in it for the long game, as Hwang Gon-hyuk has revealed he is currently in negotiations on a potential third season. There were already hints that they have started development on a second season to continue the story of Lee Jung-jae‘s Seong Gi-hun, who has made quite the declaration at the end of the first season after the revelations behind the titular Squid Game. Korean Times was kind enough to translate Gon-hyuk‘s statement on their current discussions:

I’m in talks with Netflix over season 2 as well as season 3. We will come to a conclusion any time soon.

    Hwang Gon-hyuk

It’s uncertain how they’ll continue the storyline, but there are quite a few open questions left behind with Lee Byung-hun‘s Front Man revelation. They seemingly left a few talking points open on purpose to further explore the history of these games. We met one of its founders, but that won’t stop the games from continuing even as he moved on. We’ll see what the future has in store for Gi-hun, who is about to face an entire corporation down on his own.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Could Become Sony’s Most Profitable Release

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Could Become Sony’s Most Profitable Release

Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s success at the box office is quite an exciting prospect. It built upon the nostalgia of the original two franchises that came before it, while also offering an emotional gut-punch of a story that is bound to have people clamoring for more. Well, it seems Sony is in the same seat as Deadline is reporting that its $1 billion global release has already gained around $242M net profit. That’s quite the success within just a few weeks, especially as the film continues to grow moving forward.

It just passed that benchmark and tied with Avengers: Infinity War as the second-fastest to do so. Yet, there are some concerns that the Omicron surge could hamper its future development and take away the legs it would’ve had originally if it was released in a non-pandemic time. Unlike most releases, it’s still a steady release and there’s a good chance Sony will make $610M in profit from this single release. As the film is already on its way to pass Far From Home, which managed to nab $1.13B, the current predictions see it making around $1.75B worldwide.

At this rate, it’s sure to beat out the previous entries, which is always a good sign for an ongoing franchise like Spider-Man and has also been quite competitive in the market, which most newer releases not holding a candle to it in its second weekend. Marvel Studios and Disney did renegotiate their terms for this third entry, which means they’ll get a slice of the pie as well. This also solidifies that their continued partnership might be in the best interest of everyone involved, which hopefully ensures a bright future as work is already underway for the fourth entry.

  • Jessica Henwick Says “Never Say Never” on Potential Continuation of Her ‘Iron Fist’ Storyline

Jessica Henwick Says “Never Say Never” on Potential Continuation of Her ‘Iron Fist’ Storyline

Marvel Studios is going through an interesting phase, as they reintroduced characters from the Marvel TV era into their universe. Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Wilson Fisk and Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil made their return in style, which opened the floodgates of others making a potential return. It made many wonders if they’ll also answer some questions left behind from the series, such as Colleen Wing’s new time as the Iron Fist. Luckily, during her press tour for The Matrix Resurrections, actress Jessica Henwick gave her opinion on a potential return.

Look, the way we left Iron Fist, spoiler alert, Colleen has the power and she’s in a really good place. I would love to revisit her. That character meant a lot to me and really changed my life. And I would love to revisit her one day, but it would really have to be the right place, and the right time, and the right script, but never say never

    Jessica Henwick

What is interesting to point out is that she was offered a role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but declined due to her hope to revisit Wing’s storyline. It’s unclear if this is even something that Marvel Studios is willing to revisit given the overall reception of that part of The Defenders, but we’ll see if her choice may have sparked an interest to continue further down that path after all.
