Theory of Evolution: How Mutants can Join the MCU

“A new generation of mutants is emerging, that much is certain.”

    -Charles Xavier

Since the acquisition of 20th Century Fox in March 2019, many fans have been wondering exactly how Disney plans to manage the former’s film properties, more specifically, how Marvel Studios will manage the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties within the context of the MCU. We know that Marvel Studios already has many ideas and stories that they have been “thinking about…for years”, as stated by Kevin Feige in an interview last year.

While I can say with certainty that we are still YEARS away from seeing either of these properties in the MCU, if you were to ask me what property I think would be introduced first between the X-Men and F4, I personally believe that mutants could be implemented into MCU in a more straightforward manner than the Fantastic Four because we already have the base for them to be introduced.

As of where we stand right now, I have pinpointed 4 possible origins for how Marvel Studios can introduce mutants into the MCU.

**It is important to note that the theories discussed in this article are simply just that. Pure theory and speculation on my part.

With this being said, let us begin:

    1) “THE VIRUS THEORY”:

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER

This theory bases itself on information from the upcoming Disney+ show: “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”

Oh the irony of this. Relax, it has nothing to do with COVID-19 I can assure you. But the premise in this theory is certainly a very interesting one to discuss. So let’s set the scene.

ygdjMadripoor (Comic vs Live-Action [Exclusive Set Pictures from Murphy’s Multiverse]).

The Setting: We have Madripoor (a location very popular in the X-Men lore). This fictional island is going to be one of the settings that will show up in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. (You can read more about it in Charles’ article here.) Now, while I can’t say for certain that this is going to be Ground Zero for the origin of Mutantkind, I do find particularly interesting the fact that Marvel would choose this location for this series, considering its history in the comics.

    tyjd

The Plot: Now the official synopsis for the show says: “Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities — and their patience — in Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” Something that I find interesting for this show is this plotline involving a “virus/pandemic”. Many different sources, (including my own from the time the show was planning on filming in PR before tremors and earthquakes forced production to shut down), referred to the production as “Pandemic Productions LLC.” (Now, I am aware that rumors have surfaced about possible reshoots that remove the virus/pandemic storyline. I personally don’t think they will remove it, at least not entirely).

1574221892_258_5-villains-who-could-appear-in-hawkeye-5-we-dont-want-to-seeBaron Zemo in the upcoming Disney+ Series: “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”.

Special Facts: If anyone saw the Deleted Scene from the “Infinity Saga Box Set” where Zemo was at the Auction House, you’d see that Zemo managed to kill a bunch of businessmen with a sort of gas he concocted, so we can chalk up a bit of chemistry to his military background, and it was deleted for a reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to base some sort of storyline specifically involving that scene.

The Theory: What if the reason why Sam & Bucky are going to Madripoor is that Zemo is planning on unleashing this “virus” meant to hurt hundreds upon millions of innocents, and Madripoor is just one of his testing grounds. The creation of this “virus” would have required the use of human genetic material through clinical trials, which in theory, could create a “virus” that doesn’t necessarily succeed as Zemo intends, and actually has an end result which provides humans with mutant abilities (a storyline which is already being explored in the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game.)

    2) “THE REALITY THEORY”:

    FG

This theory bases itself on information from the upcoming Disney+ show “WandaVision”, the upcoming MCU film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and the comic storyline “House of M”.

People that know me personally know how hyped I am for WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. These two projects from all I’ve heard are giving me incredibly powerful “House of M” vibes and I’m all for it. I have multiple theories on both of these projects but that’s for another article. For now, let’s talk about everyone’s favorite witch: Wanda Maximoff.

tmp_cD3A6y_612392bf07a8f85d_InfinityWar5ae2817516f33Wanda Maximoff with Vision in Avengers: Infinity War.

Background Info: Since her debut back in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda Maximoff has gone through a lot of different changes over the last few MCU films (and I don’t just mean her accent.) She has shown growth in both characterization and power, but that growth has been marked by a great amount of pain and suffering that she has had to go through in her life:

      • Her parents died when she was very young, long before the events of AoU.
      • She and her brother Quicksilver were experimented on by HYDRA with the mind stone, which developed eventually developed their powers.
      • Her brother Quicksilver died during the Battle of Sokovia.
      • Thousands of her people in Sokovia died.
      • Her home country was destroyed.
      • The people of the world hold her accountable for the deaths of dozens of citizens in Lagos, which triggered the Sokovia Accords and thus the events of Captain America: Civil War.
      • The outcome of the previous point forced her into hiding for 2 years until the events of Infinity War took place where she was forced to sacrifice Vision to save the universe, only to watch him be brought back so she could see him die a second time.
      • And then she herself died at the hands of Thanos’ snap.

So, her life really hasn’t been that easy.

maxresdefault (4)Wanda Maximoff in Avengers: Endgame.

Where we stand right now: The last time we saw Wanda Maximoff in action was during the final battle at Avengers: Endgame and let me tell you something straight off the bat: that scene where she took on Thanos ON HER OWN, was so personally satisfying because I knew right then and there that we were about to get the Scarlet Witch in the MCU.

    andy-park-andypark-wandavisionWandaVision Keyframe by Andy Park.

The Plot: Now the official synopsis for the show says: “Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.” Straight off the bat, as soon as I read this synopsis, I started brushing up on “House of M“.

sei_6725964 (1)The Scarlet Witch in House of M.

Source Material: So a quick recap of “House of M” if you have not read it. In the comics, Wanda gives birth to twins with Vision using her magical abilities but it only exists in this reality that she created in her head to avoid losing control. Wanda’s memories of the twins end up being erased by another witch named Agatha Harkness. Eventually, as the comic run develops, a multitude of events occur, which leads to Wanda being labeled a threat to the world and many heroes contemplate whether they should kill Wanda before she becomes too powerful to stop. Wanda breaks down, loses control, and reshapes reality so the world was run by mutants. When that reality fails and it results in the death of her brother, she redid reality again, but this time, with most of the mutant population losing their powers. Caught up? Good. (Author’s Note: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BRUSHING UP ON THIS STORYLINE. Whether or not the storyline becomes relevant in this show, it is a fantastic comic run and it marked a very important part of my childhood, so please read it.)

The Scarlet Witch: Now let’s talk about Wanda’s powers. We don’t know exactly how powerful Wanda is or what is the extent of her powers. We can set a starting point that she is powerful enough to destroy the Mind Stone and by the looks of this upcoming show, she might grow powerful enough to alter reality itself. This is why I usually separate Wanda Maximoff from The Scarlet Witch because we have yet to see the Scarlet Witch in her full potential. Her comic counterpart was already powerful to do many of the abilities previously stated as seen in the “House of M” storyline, so it will be interesting to see how the MCU counterpart will size up when the time comes.

    paolo-giandoso-ap-wandamindpowers-vp011 (1)

The Theory: So my second theory states that the events of both this show and DS2 won’t just mess with repercussions in the Multiverse, but it will affect the current reality in which the MCU is set in and could potentially pave the way for multiple mutants to come in through Wanda’s abilities, thus bringing to life a very important part of the “House of M” storyline to the MCU.

    3) “THE ETERNALS THEORY”:

    MAIN - ETERNALS

This theory bases itself on information from the upcoming MCU film “Eternals”.

The Theory: I can’t talk about mutants without mentioning the Eternals. While admittedly, the Eternals comic lore is one of my weak points as it was not something I have analyzed as heavily as other source materials, since the announcement of their film at SDCC, I started to brush up on the Eternals and found some very interesting information. The Eternals in Marvel lore are “the first mutants” since the comics explain that their origins are based on how Celestials experimented on the first humans many millennia ago long before the establishment of civilization. During their history, the Deviant gene begins to generate amongst them, which leads to what we know as mutants. At this time, there is very little known about the Eternals and how they will play out in the MCU but they could certainly be a viable candidate for the origin of Mutants.

    4) “THE TERRIGEN THEORY”:

    a9eca9dc0ca129560c0920669d3d9f935e505689

This theory bases itself on information from the upcoming Disney+ show; “Ms. Marvel”.

The Theory: Lastly, I’d like to discuss one more theory which also has lurked in the back of my mind since it’s similar to “The Virus Theory” and was brought to my attention following my beta gameplay of Marvel’s Avengers this weekend. In Marvel lore (and Marvel TV), there is this substance known as Terrigen Mist, which is able to alter the biology of individuals with Inhuman genes (such as Kamala Khan). While in the lore, the mists cause mutations to those with Inhuman genes, it is not really confirmed that humans can achieve mutant powers without having that Inhuman gene in them. The reason why I do not mention this theory as much is that this theory can easily combine with “The Virus Theory” above and can easily be interchanged.

The MCU has already been around for 12 years our time. By Avengers: Endgame, we’re already in 2023…

SO WHY ARE THESE THEORIES IMPORTANT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE MCU?

Many fans believe that in the MCU, many of their favorite mutants won’t have the origin they deserve because the timeline won’t make sense, given that the MCU is currently in the year 2023. Say we keep the origin story of Magneto and Charles Xavier the same (Magneto being born in the late 1920s and Xavier being born in the ’30s). They would both be in their 90s, nearly 100 years old by the time Endgame rolls around. While mutant genes can affect the genetic composition of humans, I don’t think either of their powers has any sort of effect on the life longevity of their anatomical systems. Plus, fans like myself might start to question those origins with questions like:

    • Mutants existed since before the Avengers?
    • How did they hide for so many years from S.H.I.E.L.D.’s radar?
    • How did they hide from HYDRA’s?
    • How did Zola’s algorithm not account for the possibility of mutants ever arising, considering HYDRA was already doing genetic experimentation as shown by the post-credit scene of Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron?

Something that makes all of these theories is how they can each operate outside the time constraint set by the comics. Let me elaborate. By having any of these theories be the origin point for mutants, they all allow Marvel Studios to actually write in the mutants they’re interested in having in the MCU WITHOUT the need to use any sort of chronological connection to the original source material from the comics because their origin would be established at another point of time in the MCU’s history. This would allow for new stories to be told within the context of the MCU. This would not be the first time Marvel Studios has retconned many of their characters’ origins in the MCU to make them differ from their comic counterparts (I.E. Wanda and Quicksilver having different parents, Ultron’s origin story, Star-Lord’s Father, etc.)

Whatever theory you choose and wish to believe in, one thing’s for certain. The mutants are coming to the MCU.

  • Connecting Imaginary Dots: A Kinnaman-Kraven Connection

Connecting Imaginary Dots: A Kinnaman-Kraven Connection

A few days ago, Charles Murphy reported in a What I Heard This Week report, that Sony-Marvel are looking for a Joel Kinnaman “type” for a certain role in the third Spider-Man movie. It appears there is a chance that Kinnaman himself may not only fit the part, but could very well be cast in the film after all. This is by no means official, and mostly speculation based on a bit of detective work, but please read on and judge for yourself.

It is known that Joel Kinnaman and Tom Holland worked closely together on the film Edge Of Winter back in 2015. That film premiered the following year, along with Suicide Squad and Captain America: Civil War. The two became friends, mutually follow each other on Instagram, and Tom even popped up on the set to the Suicide Squad, via a now deleted post on Kinnaman’s Instagram.

Now, it would be easy and kind of silly to just say, well they’re friends so Kinnaman is definitely in Spider-Man 3 for that reason. But it is a small piece of evidence which is clear and undeniable. So while I wouldn’t rely on that solely for conclusions, I’ll just leave it out there.

What is also undeniable is that the much rumored, much anticipated, appearance of Kraven the Hunter in the Spider-Man universe, makes a hell of a lot of sense for the sequel. The way Spider-Man: Far From Home left off, with the cliffhanger of Peter’s secret identity being outed by one very loud mouthed J. Jonah Jamesson, plus Peter being framed for Mysterio’s murder, it seems only natural that the next installment would feature someone trying to capture the webslinger whether it be for justice, or just for the thrill of the hunt!

So Kraven the Hunter is extremely likely to be in it. In fact, our own Charles Murphy surmised as much in a Connecting Imaginary Dots feature back in February.

Also undeniable, is the fact that Kinnaman is a just about perfect casting choice to play the Russian born hunter Sergei Kravinoff as strongly hinted at in Charles’ other previously mentioned article.

So, there’s the age old question, if they are or were looking for an actor or actress who is the perfect type for a role, then why in the world don’t they just hire that actor? Of course contract negotiations, and availability can play a big part in whether or not an actor gets or takes a role, but in this case I think there is a strong possibility he might actually already have it. A check of Kinnaman’s IMDb seems to show his schedule clear for the time being.

There is also some interesting connections revealed courtesy of Instagram.

The man you see Tom Holland praising in the Instagram post above is George Cottle. He is the stunt co-ordinator and assistant director for Spider-Man: Far From Home as well as the upcoming Spider-Man film, and stunt co-ordinator for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Very interestingly, Cottle also follows Kinnaman on Instagram. I checked and it doesn’t appear they had worked together before, tho perhaps they are friends through Tom Holland. However, the fact that it didn’t take much scrolling to get down to Kinnaman’s name on his following list makes me think that follow may be fairly recent.

Perhaps I’m leaping to a conclusion, a bit too enthusiastic whilst stalking my prey of new information, but I would say there is a strong chance Kinnaman is in Spider-Man: the threequel possibly aka… ugh… Homesick. And yes it is very possible, since he’s just about perfect for it, that he is actually playing Kraven the Hunter himself!

  • Florian Munteanu is Playing Black Jack Tarr in ‘SHANG-CHI’

Florian Munteanu is Playing Black Jack Tarr in ‘SHANG-CHI’

Before you go any further, please note that this is what we call a “Connecting Imaginary Dots” feature. We are not claiming any insider knowledge; this article is PURELY speculation.

If you’re not familiar with the “Connecting Imaginary Dots” features here at Murphy’s Multiverse, these are speculative pieces, and so although we’ve gathered evidence to support our conclusions, we cannot officially or 100% prove them at the time. The speculation may turn out to be right or wrong, but we still think it’s worth sharing with you all for considersation.

In this Connecting Imaginary Dots, I will explain why I believe that in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu is playing another mountain of a man: Black Jack Tarr.

Why do I believe this? Well, back on January 30, Murphy’s Multiverse broke the news that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings would introduce 3 significant MI-6 characters: Leiku Wu, Clive Reston, and Black Jack Tarr. In the previously mentioned article by Charles, Tarr is described as “an elite martial artist who enjoys the thrill of the battle.” That certainly sounds like a good fit for “Big Nasty” doesn’t it? Tarr is a bit of a rough, gruff, hot head who starts out as a combatant to Shang-Chi, but later becomes a friend and ally. That would most likely mean the actor who played him would be filming a significant time, and judging by the panel above, it would require another “mountain of a man” to play the character.

In addition, the amount of time Munteanu has spent in Australia this year while they were filming seems significant. We know via his Instagram that he arrived in Sydney in mid January and was there until at least March 19th. It is shortly after he arrives in January that Shang-Chi himself, Simu Liu started following him on Instagram and liking and replying to many of his posts. Awkwafina too, started mutually following and liking his posts. All of this, and other hints and winks from Munteanu along the way, gave pretty much anyone who was paying attention the idea that he was more than likely in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

A more recent mutual follow, post, and interaction with Munteanu made me all the more suspicious that he is in fact playing Tarr. Check out the post below about his return to Sydney to finish what they started and the reply by actress Fala Chen who seems to have started mutually following him fairly recently.

What the reply and likes and mutual follow here tells me is that they probably have some screen time together, and if Fala Chen is indeed playing Leiku Wu, as we have surmised (and currently who she is listed as playing in IMDB), then the most likely character he is playing is Black Jack Tarr.

An edit to add: A quick search online puts Black Jack Tarr at 6’6″ and 300 lbs. Now, how many well established actors out there can even come close to that? Not many. A search for Florian Munteanu puts him at 6’4″ and 235-245 lbs. If they want to come close to “the man not even Kung Fu can smash” then “Big Nasty” certainly sounds about right!

‘Shang-Chi’ Production Ready to Return to Filming

A brand new video and report today from 7 News in Australia reveals a fresh look at work being done on a set for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in Sydney. Check it out below!

The report also indicated that cast has returned and they would resume filming in the coming days. Check out the full video from Facebook below!

  • New Casting Call for Archers in ‘Shang-Chi’

New Casting Call for Archers in ‘Shang-Chi’

We’ve been seeing signs for a while now that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings might be resuming filming very soon, from actors Simu Liu and Awkwafina doing Instagrams from trailers, to other actors returning to Sydney. But now a new sign (literally) from Twitter user @mma_tuesday indicates someone is searching for Chinese archers at FOX studios.

While it doesn’t specifically say it’s for a Marvel movie or Shang-Chi, it’s certainly a safe bet it is, as @mma_tuesday indicates in his tweet. It would seem from a previous tweet that he saw the notice at a local archery range. I am curious how many they’re looking for, but chances are it’s enough for an army!

Murphy’s Multiverse has previously reported links to an ancient army and perhaps Genghis Khan himself. With a fairly long shoot of a month and a half for these archers, beginning mid August through the end of September, it seems to be a significant part of the film!

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ To Start Filming Next Year

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ To Start Filming Next Year

Tennis star Serena Williams spoke to Natalie Portman recently about the new NWSL team they co-own coming to L.A.. Luckily for us Serena asked Natalie about her playing Jane as The Mighty Thor in Thor Love and Thunder.

At first joking that filming hasn’t started yet but it gives her “more time to, you know, get jacked.” Natalie added that she’s “got the carbo loading down but not the leg exercises.” Then she dropped a confirmation of when and where she expects filming to begin.

“Very excited. We’re shooting in Australia at the beginning of next year.”

“Interested to see if I can actually gain muscle,” Natalie joked again. It seems as if she’s taking her Mighty Thor role very seriously despite the expectations of there being a lot of humor in the script similar to Thor Ragnarok. Natalie is a very committed actress so I expect she will do her best to “get jacked.”

As for the news that Thor Love and Thunder is expected to start filming in Australia at the beginning of next year, this is not surprising. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings needs to finish filming before Thor can begin. Plus the release date for the fourth Thor film was pushed back to early 2022 for that reason. However it is good to have the star actress confirm that she expects to need to be in “mighty” good shape for filming by early 2021 not later.

Fingers crossed that doesn’t get pushed back again.

  • Sorting Through ‘WANDAVISION’ and ‘THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER’ Conflicting Updates

Sorting Through ‘WANDAVISION’ and ‘THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER’ Conflicting Updates

Well it’s certainly been a befuddling couple of days for fans of the MCU, and in particular for those looking forward to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision. While its finally been revealed that FaTWS will NOT make an August release date, as expected considering the state of… well, everything; there has been continued confusion basically all day about whether or not WandaVision will be pushed back as well. I will do my best to sort it out for you below. But if you want the quick answer, it is plainly, I dont know. No one really does at this point in time. In all likelihood, not even Disney Plus or Marvel do.

That being said, if you want to read the long answer where I sort through the several conflicting reports to try to clarify things on this front, and then give my at least somewhat educated OPINION of what might happen, then continue on.

First and foremost, no, I’m sorry to say, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is not going to make the previously announced August 2020 release window. This was completely expected due to the pandemic shutting down filming and continued troubles with that, paired with the series having several weeks left to film at least (expect it to be longer with the current guidelines). However, if they are able to complete filming even as late as by end of September, maybe even October, that should still allow for a late 2020 release for that series. Chances are the studio is working out how and where to do that already.

Thursday, The Laughing Place reported, not surprisingly, that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was not on a list of titles sent to the media for the Disney Plus streaming service for August. This was despite Disney Chairman Bob Iger himself announcing a few months ago during an earnings call that FaTWS would stream in August, WandaVision in December, and Loki in 2021.

Early Friday afternoon, a post by Deadline reporting on the delay news about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, stated at first that WandaVision was “on track for a previously set October premiere date.” This was seemingly confused by the writer with the second season of The Mandalorian. They have since corrected the article to say “WandaVision remains on track for a 2020 premiere date” instead. So still probably streaming in December 2020, right? Well, hold off those party plans for a moment Wanda stans…and read on.

A bit later, an Entertainment Weekly article came up talking about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier‘s delay, stated: “A source close to the situation confirms to EW that the premiere has indeed been delayed due to the global pandemic. If all goes well, a new premiere will be announced soon.” Note the “if all goes well” part there. Yeah, that’s a pretty big IF right now unfortunately. And I’m not exactly sure how they’re defining the word “soon” because we are certainly months away from seeing if “all goes well” with the series finishing up their filming. In other words, don’t expected a new release date announced too “soon,” and even then, everything is very very “wait and see” for all these series until they finish all the filming. Their only mention of WandaVision, by the way, was about the Bob Iger comment I mentioned earlier here. It was to air in December 2020, straight from the horse’s… um… mouse’s…uh…big time guy at Disney’s mouth. (Hold up. Keep reading Wanda stans…)

Then late afternoon The Hollywood Reporter posted an article about Hawkeye being the first Disney Plus Marvel series to have multiple directors (Rhys Thomas, Amber Finlayson, and Katie Ellwood), which threw a monkeywrench into all our WandaVision hopes and dreams.

Hawkeye is part of the first wave of Marvel shows that was due to hit Disney+ starting in fall 2020. The first show was to have been The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but the series has been delayed to the coronavirus pandemic affecting production. Other shows include WandaVision (spring 2021, if things go as planned), Loki (also spring 2021),then Hawkeye. All will see the silver screen thespians toplining the series.

So now if that’s correct and up to date, we seem to be back to the original plan when the shows were announced last year, WandaVision and Loki in 2021. Or are we? Or is it simply the reporter guessing and/or going by old information about the release dates? The fact that he says Loki in Spring 2021 makes me think the latter. The reason being, Loki has kind of a lot left to film, especially compared with the other two. And again, we’re in the middle of a pandemic which complicates everything, including making filming take longer from what I understand. What I’m saying is, I’m rather skeptical that Loki is going to make a Spring 2021 release. I could be wrong, but I suspect late Summer or Fall is much more likely for the God of Mischief to appear again.

As for WandaVision, and again this is my OPINION, and I could be totally wrong, and I could see something that makes me change my mind next week or month or whatever… However my opinion is that WandaVision will likely be pushed back to early Spring, (or maybe late Winter okay? Don’t hurt me.)

The reason I think this is for one thing, while I’m sure Disney Plus is desperate for new content for their subscribers, they also are going to want to be smart and space out their releases a bit. This way subscribers have a continued feed of new stuff, not just one giant but delicious Marvely chunk and then nothing for months and months because they can’t be completely sure when they can get anything else filmed right now.

Secondly, as we all know, Marvel likes to link their films, and these Disney series are also going to be linked both to the films and to each other. The order of things was in place for a while now: Black Widow, then Falcon and the Winter Soldier, then The Eternals, then WandaVision, etc… Assuming they want to keep that order in tact, due to connectivity, then WandaVision should air some time after The Eternals, and Falcon and The Winter Soldier after Black Widow... Do I know for sure that there are connections between all of these films and series? No. As I stated at the beginning, this part is my at least somewhat educated opinion.

And lastly with the shifting back of release dates for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to March 2022, and the fact that WandaVision will definitely influence what happens in that film, they may not want to air WandaVision that far ahead of that film. Better to keep the events of WandaVision fresh in the audience’s mind for that.

I hope I’ve helped clear up some of the confusion of the day for you, I did my best to, even if it’s not something some of you want to hear. Let’s just all of us wear masks for a while longer and then hopefully we can still get our beloved Marvel stuff this year, okay?

Correction: One day later the Hollywood Reporter writer put out a correction on his Twitter @boris_kit: “I’ve made a correction to the article saying WandaVision is due to come out in 2020. Thanks to the Brandons for keeping me on my toes.”

  • ‘WANDAVISION’ To Have More Than 6 Episodes

‘WANDAVISION’ To Have More Than 6 Episodes

Since Kevin Feige revealed Marvel Studios upcoming Disney Plus slate at SDCC ’19, fans have prepped themselves for 6-8 episodes of streaming goodness. In the case of WandaVision, it’s been the belief of fans that the show would be a 6 episode event set to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe; however, according to some new evidence, it looks like we might be in for at least NINE episodes of the show.

If you’ve been following me a while you probably figured out that sometimes I get bored, and when I get bored I go internet hunting for interesting comic book movie stuff to share with you all. Lately, with filming on hold currently, the hunt for Marvel movie or series news and tidbits is often a total bust. But occasionally I find some interesting reveals. This is a potentially great one for Wanda Maximoff and the Vision fans.

Last night I came across the resume for a stuntperson in the WandaVision series, and in it I found this…

I’m protecting the source a bit here, but trust me this is definitely a person who has worked on WandaVision, and I sincerely doubt they made a mistake in their resume listening. Possible, but I doubt it.

As you can see, the stunt person is listed for”WandaVision Ep. 109.” It’s standard procedure for the numbering system to show the season number first (1) and the episode second (09), meaning this actor worked on episode 9 of WandaVision!

There have been indications that Loki should have a second season, and we know that at one point there was planned to be a continuation of Sam and Bucky’s adventures on Disney plus, yet we’ve heard no word on that for WandaVision so far. Of course we don’t know how long to expect each episode to be, so we can’t expect 9 or more hour long episodes yet, but the possibility of an extended season is great news for fans thirsting for anything MCU related.

Hulu’s ‘Helstrom’ Slated For October Release

This bit of information dropped during the Hulu Newfront 2020 presentation today.  The company revealed that the Marvel series Helstrom will air as part of the streaming service’s Huluween slate probably sometime in October.

    Per Deadline:

Finally, the platform unveiled a number of titles for its Huluween strand. Originals launching around the spooky holiday including horror film Books of Blood, based on Clive Barker’s book and starring Anna Friel, Rafi Gavron, Britt Robertson and Yul Vazquez, horror satire feature Bad Hair starring Elle Lorraine, Vanessa Williams, Jay Pharoah, Lena Waithe, Blair Underwood, Laverne Cox and James Van Der Beek, Marvel Studios’ Helstrom and Mary Laws’ Monsterland.

Despite the huge Marvel brand attached to it, there’s been virtually no news about this show since it was greenlit. The show was, oddly, the only survivor in the axing of multiple Marvel TV projects. The cast announcement went under the radar. We don’t know what exactly to make of this show in the wake of the dissolution of Marvel TV but it’s happening.

Kathryn Hahn Hoping To Resume Work on ‘WANDAVISION’ Soon

Kathryn Hahn, who is cast as a key but mysterious character in WandaVision, (more than likely the witch Agatha Harkness), was interviewed on The Playlist podcast today and dropped a few tidbits about the series.

For starters, she has confirmed that she has a bit more to film, and The Playlist reports that she’s hoping to resume filming this summer.

“I’ve got a little bit left on WandaVision.”

When asked what it’s like joining the “Marvel machine” she said:

“It is another like surreal awesome swing into another genre… but so fun…so fun…”

“I wish I could tell you a thing about it, but I can’t, or I would just disappear from this Zoombox.”

She was also asked about how crazy WandaVision looks, she replied:

“It’s gonna be fabulous, yeah. I can’t say anything else!!”
