  • Some Key Actors Hadn’t Signed On Yet Ahead of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Production Start

Some Key Actors Hadn’t Signed On Yet Ahead of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Production Start

There are countless rumors surrounding who may or may not appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The latest trailer at least confirmed the appearance of the various villains that have been hinted at for over a year. Of course, we can’t forget the rumors of former Spider-Man actors, Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield, having a role in the story.

While enough has leaked and hinted at it, Sony still is playing coy on their appearance. In a new interview with GQ, Tom Holland shared that production was extremely dependent on everyone signing on without confirming who exactly he is referencing.

Some people were trying to figure out whether they wanted to do it, and we needed all of them or none.

    Tom Holland

Holland highlighted that a lot of the film had to be rewritten, especially with the pandemic postponing the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Still, they somehow managed to pull it off and the actor is certainly extremely excited for everyone to see what they managed to put together. We might not know how many of the rumors are true until the film finally releases in around a month, but the teases we got does seem quite promising for what the future has in store for the MCU’s version of Spider-Man.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Plot Was Rewritten Due to ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Delay

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Plot Was Rewritten Due to ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Delay

When it was officially announced that Benedict Cumberbatch would return as Doctor Strange in the third Spider-Man film, it made many wonders how it would tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The sequel was originally going to release May 7th, 2021 until it got pushed back by an entire year while the third Spider-Man film kept its original release. Well, in a new piece by GQ they’ve highlighted that the film’s plot was rewritten once they realized they had to postpone the Doctor Strange sequels due to the pandemic.

So, Multiverse of Madness was originally going to set up the multiversal madness that Peter’s about to face. So, there’s a chance that his wish to make sure no one remembers him that leads to the spell not working might’ve been added in once the delay arrived. Of course, that may have been part of the story but the way they end up unleashing it could’ve been changed. Holland highlights that the script was rewritten on a daily basis, especially for the third act.

You could ask the director, ‘What happens in act three?’ And his response would be, ‘I’m still trying to figure it out.

    Tom Holland

It’s not uncommon for the script to get rewritten as production goes on. Many lines are improvised and sometimes what was put down on paper doesn’t quite work out as one envisioned it originally. The writers, director, and actors working together brings the final vision to life and it’ll be interesting to see what they’ve brought together once it releases next month.

  • New ‘The Last of Us’ Set Photos Hint at ‘Part 2’ Influences

New ‘The Last of Us’ Set Photos Hint at ‘Part 2’ Influences

At this point, we’ve probably seen way more than was intended from the upcoming The Last of Us series. Their reliance on practical sets in real locations is a great move for a post-apocalyptic storyline but does make it easy for any person near their shooting location to share photos. Just recently, we got quite a few set photos teasing the city of Jackson, as the Canadian town of Canmore was turned into the famous stronghold from the games. It’s where our two main protagonists meet up with Tommy, Joel’s brother. Yet, it’s even more important if you consider that it’s the main location that the opening of the sequel takes place. Well, some new set photos featuring Pedro Pascal‘s Joel may hint that the series will include elements from The Last of Us Part II.

In the new photos shared by Twitter user @softdindjarin, we see Joel standing at the stables of the same location we saw from the set photos shared by Russell and Russell Design Studios the other day. What is noteworthy is what Pascal is wearing in this scene. When Joel reunites with his brother, it’s a rainy day. Yet, Jackson set photos are teasing a winter setting just like the sequel.

There’s also a video that has been released from the same sequence with Pedro Pascal preparing for the role.

So, either these set photos are teasing the production is currently shooting sequences that’ll wrap up the first season, or they might be combining elements from both. The stables are an important landmark in the opening of the second game, but Joel didn’t play a role during that. It seems likely they might be bringing in familiar elements and then pushing the video game adaptation in a different direction. Instead of directly going to the fireflies, they may stay in Jackson for some time. Here’s hoping the first trailer gives us a clearer picture how they tackle this project.

  • New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer Reveals Electro’s More Comic-Accurate Design

New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer Reveals Electro’s More Comic-Accurate Design

The second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has finally arrived. Ahead of its release, there was quite a few discussion on what it may include. Would we finally get confirmation on the long-rumored appearances of Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield? Are they going to tease Charlie Cox‘s return as Matt Murdock? Well, those appearances are still kept in the shadows, but we did get our official look at the film’s main villains beyond just a Green Goblin tease and Doc Ock. Among them, was our first look at Jamie Foxx‘s return as Electro, but he got quite the redesign.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, we get introduced to Max Dillon. He’s a shy engineer that works for Oscorp that ends up falling into a small aquarium filled with genetically-engineered eel. Once they bite him, his entire body is filled with electricity and his body turns into a blue conduit. Why he also can completely dissolve his body throughout the movie. In No Way Home, they took a more comic-accurate route. He seems to have a normal look with what seems like a green jacket, but his lightning went back to the original yellow. The best part, they even added in his original headgear through the lightning.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Fans Freaking Out Over Jamie Foxx's New Look as Electro

His design looks great and the headpiece is a nice touch. We probably haven’t seen the full extent of his ability and we’ll see if he can also turn his entire body into electricity. It’s uncertain how big of a role he’ll have due to how many characters are already planned for the project, but it’s great to see Foxx‘s return to the role and here’s hoping he’ll have fun with it.

REPORT: New Character Breakdowns for ‘Dead Boy Detectives’

The upcoming Dead Boy Detectives spin-off is currently casting as it prepares to shoot its pilot before it is greenlit for an ongoing series.

Dead Boy Detectives is looking to cast a few more characters to its cast, the first being Thomas The Cat King. Thomas is described as a man in his late 20’s to early ’30s but one that has been around for centuries, He is also a bit of a predator, feline-like, and darkly fun. Thomas will always keep his word, but one should never really be trusted, listed as a series regular, and is eyeing Andrew Horton to star.

The next character is Jenny Green, described as a kind and optimistic punk butcher who is an amateur at love with a hard outer shell. Jenny becomes a good friend and confidant to one of the lead characters, Crystal Palace. The show is also looking to cast the character Niko Sasaki. Niko is described as being charming and sincere but is obsessed with the hopes of one day falling in love. David is described as crude, scornful, and hostile, with a nasty hankering for raw fish. He is the one who stole Crystal’s memories and will do anything he can to get her back. Davids’s host is described as a recurring guest star.

Dead Boy Detectives currently has no set release date as it has yet to be greenlit for a full series order.

  • Netflix Shares Viewership Numbers for the First Time

Netflix Shares Viewership Numbers for the First Time

Streaming may be about to change forever, as Netflix has suddenly offered insight into how much their shows and films are being viewed. Not just that, they promise this to be a regular occurrence. Other streaming services have been coy on sharing any data, as the market hasn’t required it. Yet, as they continue to grow this is a massive jump for transparency and might also shift the market in a new direction, as streaming becomes more dominant.

The goal for Netflix is to report how many hours were spent on the top 10 TV shows and movies, which includes original and licensed offerings. The first numbers offered some insight into their latest release Red Notice with Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds, and Dwayne Johnson spearheading. In its first week of release, it had garnered around 149M hours of viewing time. Narcos: Mexico was the most-watched English-speaking series with 50M hours. Squid Game did take the top spot, however, for a non-English series with around 43M after being available for some time.

It’s a great development, but it opens the question of whether others will be willing to share their data as openly. Newer streaming services are facing enough hardship. So, transparency might streamline the market and showcase what investments are proven successful. This move does also feels like a follow-up to 2021’s long-winded discussion regarding simultaneous releases and how effective they truly are. We’ll keep an eye on future developments.

  • New ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Spider-Man Trailer Includes Wonder Man Nod

New ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Spider-Man Trailer Includes Wonder Man Nod

Sometime before Marvel’s Avengers was released, there were many theories about the line-up of characters that may have an important role in the game. It seemed like at some point in time, they’ve had quite a few new characters mapped out and there are quite a few teases throughout the latest DLC. Black Panther’s “War for Wakanda” even referenced Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Loki. The latest teaser may have done something similar.

As pointed out to me by @MonarchWrites, there’s a brief sequence where Spider-Man is sitting alongside the Avengers enjoying some peace and quiet. On the TV, you can clearly see Simon Williams basking in the limelight. In the comics, he eventually becomes the hero, Wonder Man. It’s close to his original design even including the red glasses with some updated designs. His inclusion in this trailer doesn’t mean he’s a playable character, but it does potentially mean he might appear in the franchise at some point. Perhaps we’ll get a small cameo on the TV screens that are on in the Helicarrier.

  • REPORT: Greta Gerwig Pens Latest Draft of Disney’s Live-Action ‘Snow White’

REPORT: Greta Gerwig Pens Latest Draft of Disney’s Live-Action ‘Snow White’

Disney’s live-action Snow White has reportedly brought in Little Women writer Greta Gerwig to pen the latest draft.

The news comes courtesy of The DisInsider with the outlet reporting musical rehearsals beginning in January. Production on the film kicks off in March. It was recently announced that Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot will portray the Evil Queen in the film. Gadot joins actress Rachel Zegler who will play Snow White.

Along with news of Gerwig’s involvement, the outlet was able to unveil two-character breakdowns for the film. One is for a young Snow White, while the other is for her love interest. The character isn’t described as Prince Charming, the breakdown refers to him as Jonathan and describes him as having “plenty of swagger and a twinkle in his eye.” The breakdown reportedly also states he resorts “to Robin Hood-like thievery to provide for him and his friends.”

Gerwig is a two-time Academy Award-nominee and was nominated for her work on Little Women, which she wrote and directed. She is currently set to helm the live-action Barbie, with Margot Robbie in the titular role, for Warner Bros.

Snow White will be directed by Marc Webb.

  • ‘Mortal Kombat 11’s Sean Chiplock Voicing Spider-Man in ‘Marvel’s Avengers’

‘Mortal Kombat 11’s Sean Chiplock Voicing Spider-Man in ‘Marvel’s Avengers’

Just recently, we got our first look at Marvel’s Avengers upcoming Spider-Man DLC. Our first teases of the character have been quite promising but we won’t see his full kit until November 29th’s War Table video. Luckily, developer Crystal Dynamics has been offering some insight into the character and what he has to offer while building up to his release on November 30th. Today, they’ve finally announced that Sean Chiplock is voicing the character in the game.

Chiplock might not be as well-known as some of the other members of the voice cast, which includes Christopher Judge, Nolan North, Troy Baker, and many more. Yet, he has built up quite the repertoire in the industry. He’s famously voiced Mortal Kombat 11‘s Noob Saibot, Revali in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Seraphite in The Last of Us: Part II, Yuuki Mishima in Persona 5 Royal, and many more. He’s also played quite a few roles in Marvel’s TL;DR YouTube series. So, he’s certainly no stranger to working with the comic giant.

He’s also worked on quite a few anime adaptations, which include Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, One Punch Man, and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure to name a few. The first teasers were offering some insight into his performance, which is quite promising and he offers that youthful yet veteran superhero. Here’s hoping we get some more teases of the character in action soon, as the month seems to never end.

  • Denis Villeneuve Teases Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen for ‘Dune: Part Two’

Denis Villeneuve Teases Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen for ‘Dune: Part Two’

It didn’t take long after the release of Dune that we got the confirmation for a sequel. As the film only covered around half of the original novel, the lack of an announcement had some on edge if director Denis Villeneuve will truly be able to bring his vision to life. Luckily, now that we have the confirmation, it opens up new questions, such as who we might expect in the sequel if he might make some changes to the source material. In a recent interview with Empire, the director confirmed that Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen – the heir to the throne of House Harkonnen will appear in Dune: Part Two:

Definitely. That’s a choice that I personally brought on. There was enough characters that were introduced in this first part, and it will be more elegant to keep Feyd for Part Two. It will be definitely a very, very important character in the second part.

    Denis Villeneuve

Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen is a brother of Beast Rabann and the nephew of Baron Harkonnen. He is a young man, who is just a year older than Paul and is preparing to become the Baron’s successor. Not just that, he’s also part of the genetic plan mentioned by Gaius Helen Mohiam in the film.

They’ll now have a chance to explore the parallels between Feyd and Paul, who grew up in very different circumstances and have quite a few things in common. It’ll be interesting to see how Villeneuve brings this character to life and how close he’ll stick to the books.
