  • Marvel Studios Has Begun Their Search for ‘Fantastic Four’ Writers

Marvel Studios Has Begun Their Search for ‘Fantastic Four’ Writers

Yesterday, a rather bizarre story dropped about the possibility of Jennifer Lawrence joining the Fantastic Four. The report by The Daily Telegraph tabloid claimed that she was heading to Australia to film it. It was strange that its director, Jon Watts, is still actively working on the untitled Spider-Man 3, as laid out in the original article. The rumor regarding Lawrence‘s casting mentioned she is also there to film a different series, which would have to be in production for some time if she were to join the other potentially. So, like with many rumors, we can only take it with a grain of salt. Justin Kroll took to Twitter to share some information on the production. He dropped the return of Chris Evans as Captain America around a month ago. It offers some insight into where the production of the Fantastic Four film currently is.

Fantastic Four got revealed at the tail-end of Disney’s Investors Day’s Marvel Studios panel, so it makes sense that it is later down the production pipeline. They only recently hired Stacy Osei-Kuffour to pen Blade. They might be looking for writers for a variety of projects at the moment. Speaking of, they have cast Bahershala Ali in the role of the vampire hunter already in 2019, so it isn’t new for them to sign-up talent long before they enter any form of pre-production. They have cast actors early for them to make an appearance in earlier projects. Either way, it will be interesting to see who they might get to write the project about Marvel’s first family and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s attempt at adapting the iconic characters.

  • ‘Ms. Marvel’ Production Heading to Bangkok Next

‘Ms. Marvel’ Production Heading to Bangkok Next

Marvel Studios has been busy working on the various Disney+ shows that are eyeing a release this year. So far, we only know that Falcon and the Winter Soldier will start next month before Loki takes over in May. Right now, Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel are currently filming as they prepare to release in late 2021. Especially Ms. Marvel has been filming for some time, they even had enough to showcase a small sizzle reel during Disney’s Investors Day last year. It gave us our first look at newcomer Iman Vellani in the titular role. Now that an additional casting has been revealed, it looks like their current plans will see the production head to Bangkok. In a recent Instagram posting, atlanta_filming mentioned in the comments that the series is going to be heading to the iconic city of Thailand next.

Our own sources back up the next shooting location, as they aim to wrap up its production in Atlanta next month. They would be heading to Bangkok shortly after, but it is unsure how it might be affected by the pandemic. Thailand may serve as the backdrop for a famous storyline from comics that took place in Badin, Pakistan. It is the hometown of Kareem, or better known as the hero Red Dagger. We know that Aramis Knight has joined the series in the role, so it could be how they introduce him. We have no details, so it is uncertain what they plan on shooting in the city, but it would be interesting to see the character explore her roots. It could also serve as a backdrop for some creative interior shots, so we’ll see once the show airs sometime later this year.

  • RUMOR: Jennifer Lawrence Joins ‘Fantastic Four’

RUMOR: Jennifer Lawrence Joins ‘Fantastic Four’

So, this is a rather bizarre story but too interesting not to cover. Right now, Marvel Studios has started production on a variety of projects, such as Thor: Love and Thunder. They have been expanding beyond their usual Atlanta filming location, as Australia has been growing into a popular filming location. It looks like they will continue working there with another upcoming project, as according to The Daily Telegraph, Marvel Studios also plans to shoot the Fantastic Four film there. Not just that, as they also reveal that Jennifer Lawrence is already on her way there to film it.

It’s a bit of a strange surprise if you consider that Jon Watts is set to direct the upcoming film. Yet, he is still at work on the untitled Spider-Man 3 film, so it would be strange to start production so soon. We’ve reached out to Disney, but they have not yet responded on the validity of this rumor. Daily Mail also sourced The Daily Telegraph, where they explicitly state that she is involved in a Marvel project. It also states that she will arrive there in a month to start production on a series in the coming weeks.

So, even if the production will be in Australia but it is unlikely to start anytime soon. Jennifer Lawrence is quite a high-profile actress to join the franchise and the second former X-Men actress to join a Marvel Studios production. So, she won’t have a minor role and it would be easy to say that she might be playing Susan Storm, or better known as the Invisible Woman. We’ll see what the validity is to this story moving forward.

  • ‘ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA’: Evangeline Lilly Confirms Summer Production Start

‘ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA’: Evangeline Lilly Confirms Summer Production Start

We’ve been getting a lot of first looks at various Marvel Studios productions. We got our first look at the Thor: Love and Thunder set as they are ramping up production in Australia. Now, we were wondering if any other films might also be slowly starting, such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The Wasp herself, Evangeline Lilly, was surprisingly candid when addressing the Ant-Man threequel’s upcoming shooting start. It looks like we’re pleased to see that it won’t take long for the project that will feature Kang the Conqueror, and that is likely will give yet another Young Avenger in Cassie Lang’s Stature. If you scroll through the following Instagram post, you can see her confirm a potential summer production start.

This revelation confirms our own report from June 2020, that principal photography is set to begin this summer. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will once again have Peyton Reed in the director’s seat. He will be the second Marvel Cinematic Universe director to have a complete trilogy under his belt. He is following Spider-Man‘s Jon Watts, who is currently directing his still-untitled third installment. Stars Paul Rudd and the aforementioned Evangeline Lilly will be returning alongside Michael Douglas and Michelle PfeifferJonathan Majors and Kathryn Newton will be making their franchise debuts in the threequel. It will be interesting to see how this film connects to the last entry in the franchise and potentially build upon the current rumors of a multiversal storyline.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Russo Bros.’ Production for Netflix’s ‘The Gray Man’ Set After Delays

EXCLUSIVE: Russo Bros.’ Production for Netflix’s ‘The Gray Man’ Set After Delays

We are only a few days away when Joe and Anthony Russo‘s next major film, Cherry, releases on Apple TV+. It is their first film since their work on Avengers: Endgame that will see them tackle a more intimate story of a young man, played by Tom Holland, going down a dark path. The two aren’t going to take a break, as the directing duo is already eyeing the next blockbuster project, The Gray Man. The film is described as Netflix’s most ambitious feature film, which will see Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in the leading roles. The last time we heard anything from the production was in July, as the film was eyeing a January production start. However, we have exclusively learned that the film is facing a production delay.

Originally, it was going to start shooting the film in January, but it was delayed until March or April. They are currently still casting for the film, but no details are given for the delay. The production start was already delayed for two weeks back in December due to the rise of COVID concerns, so it is most likely why it was given another two to three months.

The story is an adaptation of the 2009 novel of the same name by Mark Greaney, where a deadly duel where the former CIA operative Gosling‘s Gentry is hunted by his former cohort Lloyd Hansen, who is played by Evans. The film’s script was written by Joe Russo with some polish by their Captain America and Avengers co-writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It will be produced by their production house AGBO.

  • Edgar Wright Set to Direct a Remake of Stephen King’s ‘The Running Man’

Edgar Wright Set to Direct a Remake of Stephen King’s ‘The Running Man’

Edgar Wright is nothing if not booked and busy. The director, who has spent the past two decades at the helm of many cult favorites, will add a high-profile remake to his growing list of upcoming projects. Deadline revealed that Wright will take over directing duties on Paramount’s The Running Man, a live-action adaptation of Stephen King‘s novel. It’s the story of a man named Ben Richards, who participates in a futuristic reality show in which contestants are chased by “Hunters” tasked with killing them. The book got previously adapted in 1987, with a film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role. Michael Bacall, who co-wrote Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, will write the Running Man script for his longtime creative partner. They hope to bring the story into a new age with a more faithful retelling of the science fiction classic.

Since the beginning of 2020, Wright‘s name got attached to multiple different film projects. He is also set to direct an adaptation of Set My Heart to Five, another science fiction tale about an android dentist who learns to feel human emotion by watching old movies. The famous director will also tackle a version of the thriller novel The Chain. Additionally, Wright has actively assured fans that he is working on the script for a sequel to 2017’s action flick Baby Driver, the last movie the director has managed to drop in theaters. His first venture into the horror genre, Last Night in Soho, was originally going to land in cinemas last year but has since been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and is now scheduled for an October 2021 premiere.

  • RUMOR: Mena Massoud is the Front Runner to Play Live-Action Ezra Bidger

RUMOR: Mena Massoud is the Front Runner to Play Live-Action Ezra Bidger

Kessel Run Transmissions report has been released that places Aladdin‘s Mena Massoud as the main choice to play Star Wars Rebels‘ Ezra Bridger in the upcoming Ahsoka Tano live-action series. This series will continue where Ahsoka’s The Mandalorian cameo left off, with Ahsoka searching for Grand Admiral Thrawn as he is the one who may lead her to Ezra after he disappeared in the animated show’s finale. Mena Massoud has worked with Disney before in the aforementioned Aladdin, so it seems Disney should be pretty sure about their choice to play the Lothal native.

Besides Rosario Dawson who will be playing the titular character, this is the first major casting news regarding the show, one of the two The Mandalorian spin-offs, the other being Rangers of the New Republic. The show was announced during the Disney Investor Day on December 10, 2020, and will be developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. If they are already casting the show’s main characters, it could be a sign that they are already eyeing a production start. Star Wars may try to replicate Marvel Studios’ formula of releasing a new show so that most of the year is filled with content. We could also see them switch between each show to better spread it out throughout the year. Either way, Massoud would be an amazing choice to play the iconic character from the Rebels animated series. It could also be a clue that we might get some casting information on Admiral Thrawn in the coming months.

  • Laurel Marsden Joins Disney+’s ‘Ms. Marvel’

Laurel Marsden Joins Disney+’s ‘Ms. Marvel’

We are in the new era of Marvel Studios storytelling. WandaVision has redefined our understanding of what makes a Marvel story. It will also be the first of many that are heading our way. Among them is the story of the Inhuman Ms. Marvel. It will bring the character of Kamala Khan into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. We got a brief snippet of the series during Disney’s Investors Day, but it has gone quiet since while production continues. Luckily, it seems that The Hollywood Reporter got their hands on some info, as Laurel Marsden is joining the series.

The actress has recently appeared in Survive. It aired on the now shut down service Quibi service. It kickstarted her career to get a larger role, such as the upcoming Marvel Studios show. She will play Zoe Zimmer, who got introduced in 2014’s Ms. Marvel No. 3. She is a bully character but also ends up bonding with Kamala. As THR points out, she is the first character to get saved by Kamala in the comic, so she also pushed the young hero to embrace her role.

The show has no release date but most likely will get released later in the year. We are only a month away from the release of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Loki is set to arrive in May. Hopefully, we might get a few new trailers once we near the release of the Gods of Mischief’s show. We will certainly keep an eye out for any potential set photos that may give us a small glimpse of where they are going with this story.

  • Wyatt Russell’s Captain America in Distress in Latest ‘Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Teaser

Wyatt Russell’s Captain America in Distress in Latest ‘Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Teaser

It’s 30 days before the first episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier drops and so we’ve been treated to a new teaser. We’ve seen a lot of the material before, but there are a few new shots. In one new noteworthy image, Bucky and Sam appear to part ways after the shield throwing session that we’ve seen many times. Although I know this was filmed during the first few weeks of production in Savannah, Georgia, I have to wonder if it’s at the beginning of the series or maybe even at the end. They made peace with each other and found their places in this new world.

Another image of note is what appears to be John Walker, who is played by Wyatt Russell, decked out as the new Captain America. Something seems wrong though, as he’s kneeling and grasping his head. The shield itself seems a bit battle-damaged and scorched at this point too. Could it be that Mr. Walker is feeling the pressure of his new position as the Star-Spangled man? Or is something much more sinister going on in his head?

Further interesting evidence that not all is right came to me when I realized that the same location was revealed in other trailers and clips for the show. Bucky and Sam are seen leaving in a rush, without Walker. In a clip, Sam is holding the shield, while in another he is throwing it in what seems to be the same location. These scenes, to my knowledge, were filmed at the Pullman Rail Yard in Atlanta in late 2019/early 2020. You may also recall Sebastian Stan posting an image from the same location around that time.

We are a month away from the series release, so we are going to get a lot more teases for the series. If you are interested, you can check out the latest teaser below:

  • RUMOR: Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Finds New Showrunner in Albert Kim

RUMOR: Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Finds New Showrunner in Albert Kim

The first few months of quarantine were a bit of an adjustment for many, but people found a way to make the most of it. One saving grace was the debut of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix. It gave people a much-needed break and escape from the world. Following its release, many people began to remember that Netflix was also developing a live-action adaption of the beloved series. After the first misfire on a live-action debut, it made many fans skeptical. It didn’t help that the original creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, left the project due to creative differences. It left fans with a sour taste in their mouth, and many wished for it to end there.

A new report suggests the Netflix may have already found a new showrunner to helm the project. Following the original creator’s departure, it seems Netflix has recruited Albert Kim to take on the challenge. Kim has worked on a variety of other series, such as TNT’s Heist and FOX’s Sleepy Hollow. She served as writer, producer, and executive producer on the latter. Details for the series are still unknown, and it’ll be interesting to see how the show handles its seasonal structure. The original told its story across 20+ episodes each season, which may be difficult to compress into Netflix’s regular show length.

The report also offered some new details on its casting, as the series will reportedly change the ages of the characters. This time Katara will be the oldest at 16. Sokka is being aged down to 14, while Aang remains 12. These changes seem weird and unnecessary, but they could change up the dynamic between the team, especially when you consider Aang and Katara’s relationship in the original series. We’ll see what else they might change.
