“Peacemaker” Expands Cast Ahead of Production Start

The cast of Peacemaker continues to grow as production will commence in Canada within a matter of weeks. Deadline announced a few new faces are joining Jennifer HollandChris Conrad, and Danielle Brooks, who got announced late last month. With story details still under wraps, all we know is that this series will serve as a prequel to the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel. It focuses on the character of Peacemaker, who is played by John Cena. The cast has grown a bit more today, as four additional actors are jumping into the fray for the upcoming HBO Max original series.

Lochlyn Munroe, Annie ChangChristopher Heyerdahl are joining as recurring guest stars. Chukwudi Iwuji will take on the character known as Clemson Murn, who is set to be a series regular. Munroe will play Larry Fitzgibbon. Annie Chang is taking on the role of Detective Sophie Song, and Heyerdahl is Captain Locke. Many of these characters do not have comic counterparts, so they could genuinely be original characters created for the series. Knowing Gunn and the choices he made for The Suicide Squad, there’s always a chance he popped his head into the unknown corners of the DC universe and picked a few oddballs to join his roster.

Peacemaker currently has no set release date, but the premiere will be sometime next year. Of course, the series will most likely debut sometime after The Suicide Squad has hit theaters and HBO Max. Gunn is returning as writer and director for the series before he starts work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Confirms MODOK’s Return

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Confirms MODOK’s Return

Crystal Dynamics teased an update that will be made available as they continue working on the AIM Cloning Labs. We first heard about during last Friday’s dev stream on Twitch. Sadly, as per usual, they were very coy on what exactly it could end up being. Luckily, it seems data miner @mmmmmmmiller has once again found a way to access the system and share a rather interesting audio file. It confirms that something that got teased a while back might be finally nearing its release. The file includes a brand new voice over by Hank Pym, who seems rather frustrated on the appearance of a brand new clone, who might be familiar to those that finished the Reassemble storyline.

The battle against MODOK was probably one of the best aspects of the story. It gave us our first real tease of multi-layered boss battles. Crystal Dynamics did confirm they are working to bring back the boss fight in a future update and going by the audio, we will be facing his clone. The cloning concept allows the developers to reintroduce their main villains as often as they want without worrying them even appearing multiple times. That is even the whole point of the Cloning Labs. At the end of the main campaign, we did see him fall out of the Kree Sentry, which did hint at him returning in the future.

He may have a role in a future storyline while the clone keeps us busy playing with our friends. I wonder if his mission is part of the upcoming Hawkeye DLC, or we could see a bigger launch of the missing multiplayer missions in January. We have been waiting for the Cloning Labs since the launch. So we are getting quite antsy about its release. Right now, the game needs more multiplayer content to keep people returning.

  • SCOOP: Marvel Studios Developing A ‘NOMAD’ Project

SCOOP: Marvel Studios Developing A ‘NOMAD’ Project

Marvel Studios unveiled a handful of new properties at last week’s Disney Investor day with Secret Invasion, Ironheart and Armor Wars but it seems they left at least one out of the impressive presentation: Nomad. The company has trademarked “Marvel Studios Nomad” along with several of the properties announced last week.

How Nomad Really Factors Into Avengers: Infinity War, According To The Russo Brothers - CINEMABLEND

In Captain America #180, Steve Rogers changed up his look and took on the mantle of Nomad after learning the U.S. Government to which he has devoted his life is run by the Secret Empire. An adaptation of this version of Rogers appeared in Avengers: Infinity War. Over the years, several other characters went by the name of Nomad, including the character Jack Monroe who went on to appear in dozens of issues of Captain America, lead his own solo title and join the Thunderbolts.

At this time, it is unclear what the nature of this project is. It’s possible that it could be a series spinning out of the events of The Falcon and The Winter Solider following either Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky or another character we have yet to meet. I suppose it’s possible, though it seems unlikely, that it could be either an animated or live-action project that follows Steve Rogers during the time between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War but Chris Evans seems to be happy to walk away from the role at this time. It’s also possible, given all the crazy multiversal hijinks headed our way, the series could tell the story of alternate universe character Rikki Barnes, the granddaughter of Bucky or even some version of Ian Rogers, the adopted son of Steve from the Rick Remender run.

While this seems like something perfectly suited for Disney Plus, we must also leave open the possibility that they are simply trademarking the character because he will be introduced in the series; however, given the way they’ve trademarked projects in the past, this certainly seems MUCH more likely to be one of those.

We will update this story as we learn more!

  • RUMOR: Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror To Appear in ‘Loki’

RUMOR: Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror To Appear in ‘Loki’

A while back, we got the announcement that Lovecraft Countrys Jonathan Majors was cast as Kang the Conqueror. Now, the interesting thing was that he was set to appear in Ant-Man & the Wasp sequel, which now has the subtitle Quantumania. It was a bit strange that they announced his casting this early, which had many people speculate if he may show up early on. Well, it looks like our theories might’ve been right as the latest podcast @PostCredPod featuring DisInsider’s EIC Skyler Shuler may have confirmed he will show up in the upcoming Disney+ show Loki.

His potential appearance makes absolute sense with the Time Variance Authority’s heavy involvement. We’ve seen some visuals that already led to a theory that he may have some kind of role in their foundation, which you can check out here. Loki might only introduce the character, so we shouldn’t expect him to appear in multiple episodes anytime soon. We just recently also heard rumblings of Jaimie Alexander‘s Sif returning in the upcoming show, so it’ll be interesting to see who else might show up throughout the show’s series.

The recent trailer gave us an overall better glimpse of the Disney+ show’s story. We will see Loki mess around throughout history while working together with the TVA. The first trailer alone promises a visual spectacle that will dive into some aspect of the multiverse. So, the series builds upon the multiversal throughline in Phase 4 and could even have some influence over the events. After the Avengers played around with time in Endgame, he might be here to correct what they may have screwed up.

  • ‘Fortnite’ Leaks Reveal Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Green Arrow & More

‘Fortnite’ Leaks Reveal Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Green Arrow & More

Looks like the current season is taking skins from all over the multiverse, as recent leaks for Fornite have revealed a variety of new skins joining this season. During the Game Awards, they revealed Halo‘s Master Chief and two characters from The Walking Dead were joining. Many wondered if we would also see more skins from Marvel after they took over the last season. Well, it looks like they weren’t quite done yet, as a group of well-known Fortnite hackers took to Twitter to share a variety of new skins showing off Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and even a comic-accurate Taskmaster.

That is not all, as we also got the reveal for a DC skin based on the popular CW show Arrow will be included in the game based on Stephen Amell‘s iconic rendition. We also get a good look at the entire set, which reveals the character’s iconic punching arrow and a quiver.

Fornite has been turning into a center for pop culture. This season also saw the addition of Kratos and The Mandalorian‘s Din. So, we can expect a lot more appearances throughout this season. Nintendo fans are hoping for the potential addition of Samus Aran from Metroid. She would make complete sense within the wacky Battle Royale world, and it seems there are no limits on who they might include at this point. So, whoever had their fantasy of having Stephen Amell‘s Green Arrow take on Deadpool can do so now. Now that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announced Sephiroth as their next DLC character, could we see Sora end up on Fornite?

  • Marvel Studios Reveals New “Legends” Disney+ Series

Marvel Studios Reveals New “Legends” Disney+ Series

Looks like Marvel isn’t done just yet.

Fresh off their massive panel from Disney’s Investor Day last Thursday, with dozens of new shows and projects in development, it looks like we’re also getting one more additional new series for Disney+. In an official tweet, they revealed Marvel Studios: Legends, which will recap the most iconic moments from various character’s history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We can also expect the show to be added soon, as it is slated for a January 8th release with two episodes.

Based on the description, it seems that this is going to be a highlight reel for the MCU characters. It could also showcase their comics origins, the MCU adaptation, their journey across the Infinity Saga thus far, and what the future might hold for them. Since the first two episodes are about Wanda and Vision just a few days before the premiere of WandaVision, Marvel’s strategy for this could be that it acts as a quick recap for those catching up on the franchise’s 10+ year history.

So, there is a good chance that we can expect the next episodes to focus on Falcon, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Loki, and Hawkeye. They could also use this to highlight characters connected to newer introductions, such as Carol Danvers getting featured shortly before Ms. Marvel airs. We have no exact info on the format or length of these episodes, but they probably are kept short going over the character’s biggest moments. We will find out more once the first two episodes air next year on January 8th.

  • Warner Bros.’ ‘Mortal Kombat’ Reboot Delayed Until April

Warner Bros.’ ‘Mortal Kombat’ Reboot Delayed Until April

Warner Bros. has caused quite a stir with the reveal that their entire 2021 film slate would premiere simultaneously via HBO Max and theaters. Wonder Woman 1984 was going to kick-off this new direction in a few weeks. Now, the odd thing was that the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot was slated for January, but we never got an official trailer or first look at the film. There was even a brief tease by producer Todd Garner a week ago that wasn’t followed upon. We were anxiously waiting for the latest adaptation of the iconic franchise yet there was only radio silence. Luckily, the producer took to Twitter once more to finally give us some information on the film.

    https://twitter.com/Todd_Garner/status/1338619892770041856

Looks like the wait for Mortal Kombat was extended by a few more months. I think this was a good move, as without any real marketing behind it the film wasn’t really given much attention to really warrant a January release. Plus, they also give themselves more time in case the pandemic drags out. I do believe this means we are getting a trailer in the coming weeks, as we still know nothing about the project outside of its casting. It was surprisingly absent during The Game Awards, which would’ve been the perfect time to reveal  I will say that I love the golden logo. Even the release date font seems strongly inspired by the font used by Mortal Kombat 11, which is a great touch. Makes you wonder if we will get the iconic theme song from the original 1995 film.

  • RUMOR: Willem Dafoe and Thomas Haden Church in Talks to Return for ‘SPIDER-MAN 3’

RUMOR: Willem Dafoe and Thomas Haden Church in Talks to Return for ‘SPIDER-MAN 3’

Just in this past month, the cast of Spider-Man 3 has grown exponentially, with reports of actors such as Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, Alfred Molina and even Charlie Cox set to reprise their respective roles from Marvel’s past, exciting fans across all social media platforms. It was recently announced by the man himself, Kevin Feige, that Spider-Man 3 would tie directly into what transpires in the events of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in The Multiverse Of Madness, so it seems incredibly likely that the multiverse plays a key role in the story of this third film. Basically, all plot details have been kept under lock and key, with the film noticeably absent from the Disney Investor presentation, likely because of the ties the film has to Sony. It seems some old dogs may be jumping back into the fray, with a few more Raimi era characters rumored to be on their way.

It’s being reported that Spider-Man and stars Willem Dafoe and Thomas Haden Church are currently in talks to reprise their roles from the original films that saw Tobey Maguire star as the titular character. The two played the previous antagonists of the web-slinger films with Dafoe making an iconic performance as Norman Osborn and Church playing the role of Sandman in the third and final installment in the franchise. Both characters met their fate at the end of their respective films so it’ll be interesting to see if they’re indeed from the multiverse or will be in a similar situation to that of J.K.  Simmons, who reprised his iconic role of J Jonah Jameson for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Spider-Man 3 will be directed Jon Watts and will feature the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker who’s presumably on the run considering how we last left him in Far From Home. Peter won’t be alone however as Benedict Cumberbatch will lend a hand to peter in his time of need. Spider-Man 3 is set to release on December 17th, 2021 however most dates set these days should be taken with a grain of salt considering the current state of the industry.

  • Marvel Studios Takes Aim at Taking Over the World

Marvel Studios Takes Aim at Taking Over the World

In the wake of last week’s Disney Investor’s Day Presentation comes the realization that the long, angst-ridden waits between Marvel Studios projects are soon to be a thing of the past. Over each of the next 2 years (2021 and 2022), Marvel Studios looks to roll out AT LEAST 10 major projects a year between their theatrical and streaming offerings. 2020 has been a rough year for MCU fans with the COVID-19 related shutdowns eventually keeping Marvel Studios from releasing any of their planned projects. Even before COVID, however, fans endured some pretty significant gaps between projects (almost 2 years between Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk) but it is clear now that those days are over.

    2021

    • WandaVision begins streaming January 15th
    • The Falcon and The Winter Soldier begins streaming March 19th
    • Black Widow debuts theatrically on May 7th
    • Loki begins streaming in May
    • Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on July 9th
    • What If…?, the studios first canonical animated feature, streams Summer 2021
    • Eternals debuts in theaters on November 5th
    • Spider-Man 3 swings into cinemas on December 17th
    • Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye, both currently filming now, are scheduled to stream in Late 2021

Looking at 3 data points isn’t really enough for a pattern, but it looks like Marvel Studios may be looking to release a new streaming series on Disney Plus every two months. If that pattern were to hold, we’d see What If…? in July, Ms. Marvel in September and Hawkeye in November. Of course, the studio would have to work around other streaming series as well, but that schedule seems fairly plausible and would make 2021 shape up like this:

    • WandaVision in January
    • The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in March
    • Black Widow in May
    • Loki in May
    • Shang-Chi in July
    • What If…? in July
    • Ms. Marvel in September
    • Eternals in November
    • Hawkeye in November
    • Spider-Man 3 in December

Ideally, Marvel Studios would probably spread these projects out a little more and they very well may as the working premise is just a guess. What If…? could be a June or August release; Ms. Marvel could be an August, September or even October release; Hawkeye, which is set during Christmas, begin streaming following Thanksgiving and lead up to Spidey’s Christmas release. Whatever the case, it’s pretty clear that Kevin Feige has no intentions of Disney Plus subscribers going very long between new episodes of original content.

    2022

    • Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness will make its way to the big screen on March 25th
    • Thor: Love and Thunder is slated for cinemas on May 6th
    • Black Panther II is set for a July 8th theatrical bow
    • Captain Marvel 2 will smash into theaters on November 11th

Additionally, the following series are currently slated to stream on Disney Plus in 2022, according to a chronological order listed on Disney’s official PDF file from the event:

    • She-Hulk
    • Moon Knight
    • Secret Invasion
    • Ironheart
    • Armor Wars
    • Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

If we operate off of our premise that Marvel Studios would like to have a streaming series on Disney Plus every two months, a premise that is, as stated above, only plausible and not confirmed, we can get an idea of when they might sprinkle the half-dozen new series in:

    • She-Hulk or Moon Knight in February
    • Moon Knight or She-Hulk in April
    • Secret Invasion in June
    • Ironheart in August
    • Armor Wars in October
    • Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in December

These timelines not only fit our working premise, but they are also very reasonable given what we know. She-Hulk and Moon Knight are both expected to begin filming in March of 2021. If Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel, which both recently began filming, are expected to make late-2021 release dates, two series that begin filming in early-2021 could be expected to make early-2022 release dates.

Disney has also listed their Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali as set to appear chronologically ahead of Captain Marvel 2, according to the same PDF, which would bump Disney up to an 11th 2022 project. As of today, Blade has neither a release date nor a creative team, but Feige did say to expect some announcements soon. But it’s possible that 2022 could end up looking something like this:

    • She-Hulk in February
    • Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness March 25th
    • Moon Knight in April
    • Thor: Love and Thunder May 6th
    • Secret Invasion in June
    • Black Panther II July 8th
    • Ironheart in August
    • Blade in September
    • Armor Wars in October
    • Captain Marvel 2 November 11th

Obviously, until we get an official update on Blade, we can only speculate but finding a way to get it out in September would give fans Marvel Studios content in every month but January, and the longest we’d go between projects would be from Christmas 2021 to February 2022.

    2023

While the films weren’t given official dates, it seems that Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3and Fantastic Four are all headed for theatrical release in 2023. It was also recently revealed that Deadpool 3 found a pair of writers, making it a likely candidate for another of the 4 previously slated 2023 films. Though we have no guarantee, it’s possible the 2023 slate could look something like this:

    • Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania in theaters for February 17th
    • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 debuting on May 5th
    • Fantastic Four rocketing into theaters for July 28th
    • Deadpool 3 bowing on November 3rd

Marvel Studios is also known to have a handful of other projects that seem to be further developed than others, though it’s not known if they are meant for theaters of are streaming series:

    • Secret Warriors
    • Ghost Rider
    • Illuminati
    • Young Avengers

Of those, Young Avengers seems MOST like one that could be a film, but any or all of them would make for great streaming series as well. Recent rumors have a second season of Loki headed into production in January of 2022, which would put it on track for an early 2023 release. Throw in a couple of rumored projects such as Thunderbolts, Agents of Atlas, Squadron Supreme, another series getting a second season or a surprise or two here and there and you’re right back into double digits for 2023. It also means it’s possible for Feige and Marvel Studios to get to 2024 before even tapping into what is certainly the biggest ace up their sleeve: the newly acquired X-Men and related characters, should they so choose. Sure Deadpool is part of that acquisition, but as the comics have proven, the X-Men can exist in a world all their own.

Marvel Studios absence may have been felt in 2020, but it looks like The One-Above-All is doing everything he can to take care of us for the foreseeable future.

  • Quintessa Swindel Cast as Cyclone in ‘BLACK ADAM’

Quintessa Swindel Cast as Cyclone in ‘BLACK ADAM’

With delays setting production back and the film’s release date being removed from the calendar, many wondered what was going on with the Black Adam. Recently the Rock took to Instagram to once again tease his intense training for the role and also happened to confirm that the project would begin production in the Spring of 2021. The film was supposed to begin filming mid-to late-2020, but due to the ongoing pandemic filming was delayed significantly as the Rock had prior commitments to projects like Red Notice and Young Rock. Black Adam is now rounding out its cast and looks to be filling the ranks of its JSA with recent casting confirmation on that of Cyclone.

Today it was confirmed that Quintessa Swindel had been cast as JSA recruit, Maxine Hunkel, aka Cyclone. The character is the granddaughter of former JSA hero, Red Tornado, who’s also set to appear in the upcoming film, this time reimagined as a transgender character and the caretaker of Hawkman’s museum. Swindell previously appeared on the Netflix original series Trinkets, which only ran for one season. Previously it was reported that actresses Isabelle Moner and Leslie Grace were atop the studio’s wishlist for the character, but they obviously decided to go down an alternate path altogether.

Black Adam currently has no set release date but is set to be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and will star Dwayne Johnson in the title role, alongside Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centenio as Atom Smasher, and Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz. The film will tell the story of Kahndaq legend that is Teth-Adam and how he came to wield the power of the wizard and how he will do anything to protect his home, even going up against the might of the Justice Society of America.
