  • ‘WANDAVISION’ Merch Provides First Look at Monica Rambeau as Spectrum

‘WANDAVISION’ Merch Provides First Look at Monica Rambeau as Spectrum

Another day, another merch leak that gives us a look at an MCU superhero! This time, courtesy of Captain Marvel News, we have our first look at Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau in what most certainly appears to be her “Spectrum suit.

Parris is playing the grown up version of the character we first met in Captain Marvel and her brief appearance in the WandaVision trailer indicates she’s going to find herself forcibly removed from Wanda’s bubble reality of Westview. Could this be the event that leads to Monica somehow gaining powers somewhat similar to her comic book counterpart? The 616 version of Monica got some pretty serious powers after being near an explosion and took on mantle of Captain Marvel (among many others) over the years. We know that in the MCU, Monica is working for SWORD and while the black and white color scheme lines up nicely with her comic book counterpart, it also looks like she may be sporting a SWORD logo on the neck area of her shirt. We’ll have to wait just a bit longer to see how it all plays out, but this is certainly a nice nod to Monica’s comic book past and, hopefully, her MCU future.

  • Marvel Studios Teases Thanos’ Eternals Heritage

Marvel Studios Teases Thanos’ Eternals Heritage

It seemed like Thanos’ story might’ve ended with Avengers: Endgame. Yet, comic fans know that the Mad Titan has some interesting connections to another race of aliens. He was the son of two Eternals, A’lars and Sui-San. Yet, he was born with the Deviants gene, which is why Thanos had his purple complexion. It was uncertain if he would still hold that connection in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially now that Eternals will release next year. Well, The Direct had a chance to visit the interactive exhibit Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. where they showcase props and information on the franchise. It seems they added something on the infamous titan that may finally confirm his lineage.

Thanos’ origin is said to be on Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, making him a Titanian in nature. It is rumored however that Thanos is the last of an ancient and highly sophisticated species known throughout the universe as ‘The Eternals’.

I do believe that there is a reason they say it is “rumored” as some may still be on Earth. Sersi is a prime candidate who might have chosen to stay among humans. We don’t know if the Eternals lived on Titan at one point, so it’ll be interesting to see if that gets explored in the upcoming film. Thor seems to be the source of this information. It looks like the Asgardians are aware of the Eternals’ existence, which may also hint at a connection if you consider the Norse Gods’ long lives.

  • Captain Jack Returns in the New ‘DOCTOR WHO’ Holiday Special Trailer!

Captain Jack Returns in the New ‘DOCTOR WHO’ Holiday Special Trailer!

Prepare yourself for the return of Captain Jack Harkness, Daleks, and “maximum extermination” this New Years Day as BBC drops a new trailer for the Doctor Who holiday special.

Check out the trailer for “The Revolution of the Daleks” below!

Along with this special obviously being very Dalekcentric, what’s really exciting is the return of the very handsome, very enigmatic, and very immortal Captain Jack, played by John Barrowman MBE. Jack first appeared in Doctor Who in 2005 alongside the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and Rose Tyler (Billie Piper). He later went on to lead his own spinoff series, Torchwood, for four series.

After a long absence from the Doctor Who universe, Jack had a brief surprise return in the fifth episode of series 12, which seems to have been a tease of his return for this holiday special. Otherwise, it’s certainly been a very long time since we’ve seen Captain Jack and his awesome fashion sense, can’t wait to what the future (and the past) holds for him.

Doctor Who “The Revolution of the Daleks,” starring Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor, airs on BBC America on New Years Day 2021.

  • Marvel Studios Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman with New ‘Black Panther’ Intro

Marvel Studios Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman with New ‘Black Panther’ Intro

Today is a sad day, as it would’ve been Chadwick Boseman‘s 44th birthday. It was still a shock to many when a few months ago he had tragically passed away after complications in his fight with cancer. Our hearts still go out to his friends and family, as it can’t be an easy time in an already turbulent year. It was revealed that he kept his cancer from many in the industry, so it had caught many off-guard when it was officially announced. Now, Marvel Studios prepared a touching tribute to the Black Panther actor by replacing the intro of his iconic film with a brand new one that showcases his legacy within the franchise.

Marvel Studios has done something similar when Stan Lee passed away. His appeared during the opening for Captain Marvel and was just as heartbreaking as this. Right now, our mind should not be focused on the sequel but rather the legacy that the actor is leaving behind. His last film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is scheduled to release on Netflix in mid-December. Here he plays the trumpeter Levee alongside Viola Davis‘ Ma Rainey. She previously played his mother in the James Brown biopic Get On Up, who probably summed up his legacy best in an interview with the Guardian back in October.

Chadwick was an artist. That is just what he was … he loved it, he demanded it in every single way. For someone so young it was incredible to watch.

  • Merchandise May Offer First Look at Falcon’s Captain America Suit

Merchandise May Offer First Look at Falcon’s Captain America Suit

Many of us have gotten used to keeping a close eye on toys and merchandising products. Sometimes they end up revealing a lot more than what one would expect. We have that very case now as well, as the site SuperHeroStuff has started sharing some products for the upcoming Disney+ show Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Among them are a pair of socks that may give us our best look yet at what Sam Wilson’s Captain America suit may look like in the show.

The colors are the dead giveaway with a nice combination of red, white, and blue. We also know it isn’t just his usual suit, as it is missing the red highlights that were showcased in the artwork reveal for the series. It also isn’t too far away from the design that Wilson got in the comics when he took on the mantle. Still, this could be a design that is just being tagged with Disney+ to get people to buy it. If it is real, I am sad that there is no star on his chest, which is an iconic aspect of any Captain America design. There is a good chance that this is also just a prototype suit before he upgrades it. Sadly, the socks don’t include him holding the shield, which would’ve been a final confirmation. The overall design is quite unique in comparison to what we have seen before, so it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll introduce it in the show, and if this turns out to be the real suit.

Of course, as the other half of the show is about Bucky, you’ll find socks featuring the Winter Soldier. It is just noteworthy that this design is closer to that of Captain America: Winter Soldier. His long hair and purely grey arm showcase that this version might have some appearance in the show. We could get a flashback that ties into Bucky’s story in the Disney+ series. It could also just be an older design reused for merchandising but the mention of the streaming platform is just interesting. So, this does mean we have to take this with a grain of salt. Just like with Sam’s design, it could be a way to sell the socks by building on the hype for the upcoming series. Still, it is fun to speculate and see if this turns out to be the design that got leaked early on socks.

  • ‘HAWKEYE’ Production Headed to the Big Apple

‘HAWKEYE’ Production Headed to the Big Apple

We’ve seen plenty of bread crumbs but now we have our first outright evidence that principal photography on the Marvel Studios Disney Plus streaming series, Hawkeye, is FINALLY about to get underway. While the production will be using Tyler Perry Studios in Georgia for most of its work, cast and crew will be headed to New York City next week to film on location!

    https://twitter.com/chriswelch/status/1332100795366596612?s=09

According to the public notice in the Tweet above, the series under the working title Anchor Point, will be filming in Brooklyn beginning next week. Fans of the Matt Fraction Hawkeye run on which the Disney Plus series will largely be based will remember that the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn was home to the small apartment building that served as the setting for much of the series.

A quick check of the area shows any number of buildings that could easily stand in as Clint’s apartment in the series, including one that’s been undergoing some recent renovations (not that construction work in NYC is uncommon, it’s just curious that it happens to be taking place on the same block where Hawkeye will be filming).

Filming in New York City is guaranteed to attract a crowd, so we could expect to see some set photos make their way online next week, giving us our first look at the much anticipated Marvel Studios project. Could we finally get confirmation of Hailee Steinfeld joining the MCU as Kate Bishop? We’ll keep an eye on things for you as the develop!

  • Netflix and HBO Max in a Bidding War for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’

Netflix and HBO Max in a Bidding War for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’

It looks like the next entry in the Monsterverse saga will have a new home. According to Hollywood Reporter, Netflix made an offer for over $200 million to get their hands on Warner Bros. Godzilla vs. Kong. Surprisingly, they declined the offer and are hoping for a bid by HBO Max to keep it in their own house. It is a curious move as Netflix would’ve covered 75% of the budget. Legendary still has plans to release the film in theaters, especially in international markets. A third of its Box Office was in China alone, which doesn’t have any Netflix presence. So, they might be hoping to still bank on that market potential outside of the US. Plus, this film combines two franchises in a massive crossover, which would surely draw attention to theaters.

The film is still slated for a May release next year. It is uncertain if theaters will open by then, so it is a risk to wait it out and not take the digital route. Godzilla vs. Kong‘s future is in Legendary’s hands, who decide its release even if they only have a 25% stake in the film. There is a good chance they’ll wait out the success of Wonder Woman 1984, which will have a theatrical and digital release simultaneously in December. They might be nervous about giving Netflix the release, as it could restrict their attempt at a theatrical release. Plus, their main goal is to grow the internal streaming service, so it would be a waste not to use such a tentpole franchise to draw in new subscribers. Godzilla: King of Monsters sadly underperformed, so there was hope that this crossover could bring more attention to the franchise. Yet, this decision could make it difficult to determine if the Monsterverse will continue beyond this entry.

  • CCXP Worlds Revealed Alongside Virtual Line-Up

CCXP Worlds Revealed Alongside Virtual Line-Up

A virtual online event for fans all over the globe.

The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed our lives in these past few months. Our day-to-day routine has changed dramatically with global lockdowns, event cancellations, movie delays, and so much more. One of the biggest challenges companies have had to face during this pandemic is the cancellation of conventions worldwide. Companies would use events like San Diego Comic-Con to host panels and make announcements about their upcoming releases. They would reveal their products to hundreds of thousands of fans who are attending. But with the COVID-19 pandemic, these sorts of announcements have been very limited to virtual events like SDCC@Home and DC Fandome. Now, there’s a new event on the horizon that’s going to get the attention of fans worldwide.

Comic-Con Experience (or CCXP for short) is one of the biggest comic conventions and the largest pop culture festival in the world. Its rise in popularity started six years ago when the event first started. Just last year, its attendance rate was around 280,000. CCXP is known for bringing big studios and franchises to talk about their upcoming projects firsthand. The list includes Disney, Warner Bros., Netflix, Amazon, and many more. The event has now moved to a completely virtual format, allowing fans from all over the world to attend. Earlier today, during a Facebook live, CCXP unveiled their plans for CCXP Worlds, displaying a rather familiar format to DC Fandome, with virtual panels and announcements for some of the studios that will be attending. Among those studios were the following:

We can expect many more announcements to arrive in the following days. With so many panels and studios stopping by, we can expect a lot of news and announcements being made at CCXP Worlds. So it’s a good thing that the multiverse is ready to cover what all these worlds announce next week. CCXP will be held from December 4th until the 6th.

  • CONFIRMED: ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ Eyeing Mads Mikkelsen to Replace Johnny Depp

CONFIRMED: ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ Eyeing Mads Mikkelsen to Replace Johnny Depp

UPDATE: It looks like it is official. Entertainment Weekly has broken the news that Mads Mikkelsen will indeed take over the role of Grindelwald. It is currently uncertain how exactly they’ll introduce the new character and if he will continue the same design.

    Source: EW

The Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts has just ramped up its production for the third installment. Shortly after, Warner Bros. asked Johnny Depp to step down from the role of Grindelwald due to the controversies surrounding his divorce. Now, it looks like director David Yates has already set his eyes on Depp‘s replacement. According to Andy Signore, they are currently in talks with Hannibal‘s Mads Mikkelsen to take over the iconic role. They are still aiming for the summer 2022 release date, as Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law are already filming. The Danish actor is currently working on Doug Liman‘s Chaos Walking, so it is unsure if there will be some scheduling conflicts.

Of course, there is still the question of how or if they will explain the change in the actor. Luckily, the first film in the franchise introduced the character of Percival Graves. He was played by Colin Farrel before he turned into Johnny Depp‘s Grindelwald. We might see him use the same spell to stay undercover throughout the story, or he reveals that he was again hiding his identity.
Mikkelsen is a fantastic actor, who was a stand-out in Hannibal, The Hunt, and Polar. His casting would be a great addition to the cast, and he is no stranger to the role of a villain. He could bring something unique to Grindelwald to make the role his own. The Danish actor has been appearing in various pop culture franchises, such as MCU’s Doctor Strange and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. So, he is no stranger to franchises, as Fantastic Beasts is going to have multiple entries past the upcoming third one. Here’s hoping they can avoid any scheduling conflicts so he can join the project.

  • Alfred Molina Rumored to Reprise Role as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 3

Alfred Molina Rumored to Reprise Role as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 3

It looks like Tom Hollands’ third Spider-Man film will pay tribute to what came beforeWe just recently covered a few hints that could be a sign that John Bubniak, who was the face-model for Peter Parker in Insomniac’s Spider-Man game, could show up in Doctor Strange Into the Multiverse of Madness. There are also rumors that we could potentially see other familiar actors like Toby Maguire or Andrew Garfield have an appearance in Spidey’s next live-action outing. It became even more possible after it was announced that Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now, it looks like one more classic villain might join the fray as Geeks World Wide have heard that Alfred Molina might reprise his role as Doctor Otto Octavius in the upcoming film.

It seems that he has only arrived on set a little while ago and has already started filming some scenes. Their sources say that he will be featured in his full Doc Ock costume, but no confirmation if this is just the MCU’s version of the original. He last played the iconic role in 2004’s Spider-Man 2, where he gave a standout and dramatic performance of the character. You see a lot of his performance carried over in other adaptations, especially Otto’s role in the 2018 game. Molina was open about returning in an interview back in 2014 with Collider. Alongside the recent report on Foxx, it is cementing the idea of this being a Spider-Verse storyline building on concepts introduced in WandaVision and the Doctor Strange sequel. Still, there is no official word so take it with a grain of salt for now.
