  • ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ CGI Trailer Teases Conflict with Tinkerer

‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ CGI Trailer Teases Conflict with Tinkerer

We are only one week away from the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It is crazy to think that the next-generation of consoles will also release so soon, or I am just bitter I didn’t get my hands on one. Either way, the next entry into the PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man franchise will be a spin-off of the 2018 original. It will be available on current-generation consoles but you can only get the Remaster of the first game when purchasing the PlayStation 5 version. Luckily, anyone buying the PlayStation 4 version will get a free upgrade for the next-gen console. Now, to build up some last minute hype towards the game’s release, Insomniac revealed an amazing looking CGI spot.

Man, the game looks really promising. I cannot wait to get my hands on it next week. We also get another good look at this universe’s version of the Tinkerer, who will be the main antagonist alongside Roxxon. Strangely enough, the promotions haven’t really focused on the oil company much, so they might be trying to hide something with their inclusion in the war over New York City. It is funny that in addition to the “Not Actual Gameplay” text, they also highlight that the headphones worn by Miles in the trailer will not be available in the game. Seems like they had to highlight that fact for some legal reason, it was just a funny little detail I noticed.

Just like the Marvel’s Avengers CGI trailer, it gets our blood pumping for the game’s release. Hopefully, this game sells just as well as the mainline entry to ensure Miles’ own spin-off franchise can grow from here. I do wonder if in future mainline games we will see plenty more Spider-themed characters showing off with a potential Spider-Verse storyline in its future. No matter what they have planned, we have a lot of Marvel gaming goodness heading our way.

  • REPORT: ‘LOKI’ Season 2 Production Slated for 2022

REPORT: ‘LOKI’ Season 2 Production Slated for 2022

It’s long been speculated that the Disney plus Loki series will have more than one season. This was mostly based on the Limbo Productions I LLC, and other reports including one from our own Charles Murphy. Now Production Weekly is reporting a January 2022 start to production for the second season of the series.

Things I heard this week: actors being brought on board for lead and major supporting roles in Loki are having options for a possible second season written into their deals.

Now it’s a fine line between what this does mean and what it does not mean. It does not mean that, as of today, I can confirm with 100% certainty that a second season of Loki will happen. I will say that there’s plenty of evidence which supports the idea that it’s a great possibility.

January 24, 2020 What I Heard This Week by Charles Murphy

At one point it was believed that season one and two of the Loki series would film back to back, but this was a plan for pre COVID-19. It appears with this Production Weekly news, if correct, that they have changed those plans.

While you shouldn’t always trust Production Weekly to be totally accurate, especially with start dates, there is additional information from the website that Netflix series, White Stork is slated to begin filming in the UK in March 2021 (airing in 2022). The series, which also stars Tom Hiddleston, starting production in March supports the idea that production of season 2 of Loki will be pushed back. After all, Hiddleston is a talented actor, but he cannot be in two places at once. He can’t duplicate himself like Loki can so a splitting up of seasons for Loki makes sense. White Stork is expected to be ten 60 minute episodes, so that should certainly keep Hiddleston busy filming that for a good chunk of 2021.

Now, you may ask, what does that mean for the possibility of Loki popping up his dear brother’s fourth installment of his films, Thor: Love and Thunder? If Hiddleston basically has an open schedule in January, February and at least part of March, then there’s certainly a possibility of him joining the filming, at least briefly, while they film in Australia (or perhaps separate filming just for him elsewhere). However it doesn’t seem to indicate a very large role in the Thor franchise for the God of Mischief this time around.

  • MORTAL KOMBAT 11: First Look at Mileena Gameplay

MORTAL KOMBAT 11: First Look at Mileena Gameplay

Finally, the first look at Mortal Kombat 11’s most requested character, Mileena, is here! Shang Tsung’s evil creation and Kitana’s estranged sister is back with a vengeance and boy, are her moves absolutely insane to watch. Check it out below!

The biggest thing that stands out to me is how stylish her moves are. I’ve never paid attention to her as a character and I’m just completely blown away by how amazing she moves. The forward throw she does where she licks the opponent is fun as hell. Her classic hedgehog rolls look really great reimagined. That Shao Kahn costume looks sick on her. And goddamn that fatality is so over-the-top that it works. I can’t wait to see how she actually plays when the latest Kombat Kast comes.

  • UPDATE: ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ AIM Cloning Labs Release Date Debunked

UPDATE: ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ AIM Cloning Labs Release Date Debunked

UPDATE #02: Well, it looks like it may have been false after all. It was a scheduled post that got released too early. This sadly opens up the question if it will be released this weekend but it is interesting that the post went up too early. So, there is a chance it could still happen but for now, Crystal Dynamics’ Community Manager Andy Wong has debunked the posting’s reveal.

We have been starving for content over on Marvel’s Avengers. It has already been some time since we got our hands on a new update with the Tachyon Rifts. They didn’t add too much new but it was a fun way to play existing missions. In a stream, we got the tease that they are currently finalizing the release of the AIM Cloning Labs that act as the first introduction to Omega Level-threats. They will build up into the massive raids we knew from other Games-as-a-Service franchises, such as Destiny. Now, it looks like their official German Facebook page may have accidentally revealed that the labs will release this weekend. Living in a German-speaking country really paid off with this one.

UPDATE: Looks like the Facebook Post was swiftly deleted giving some confirmation to its validity. Luckily, there is an image of the post:

This reveal is fantastic news for those just waiting for a new addition to the game. The developers have teased that this is just the first in an ever-escalating evolution of the game that will add new challenges over time. We already know from leaks that Black Panther will feature a raid even, where you have to infiltrate the Wakandan mines. Funny enough, an early and unfinished version of the labs was made available to some players early on. As such, they got a taste for what it offers and confirmed it includes some new environments.

Also, your actions will matter. Depending on how you play the game, the final battle will change. Crystal Dynamics did state it could take around six hours to complete it, so this will be quite a lengthy addition. Keep in mind, this will only be playable on weekends, so it is a limited window to play through and get the unique rewards at the end of the game. I cannot wait to try it out and see what an Avengers raid could look like.

  • Leaks Tease an Upcoming ‘Silent Hill’ Reboot Trailer

Leaks Tease an Upcoming ‘Silent Hill’ Reboot Trailer

Silent Hill is one of my favorite franchises. It hasn’t seen a new entry in years, and the last project being canceled prematurely by Konami. I even covered what would’ve been Hideo Kojima‘s Silent Hills as our Halloween special, which you can check out here. In it, I also mentioned that rumors abound that a new reboot of the franchise may be heading to PlayStation 5. Now, a bit more info is coming together on what exactly it could be. Industry insider Roberto Serrano teased a potential reveal date for the upcoming reboot during Halloween. He seems to believe that it will be part of December’s The Game Awards. At one point, it was part of the PS5 reveal event but got postponed for some reason.

    https://twitter.com/geronimo_73/status/1322454498921644033?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1322454498921644033%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_3&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fgamerant.com%2Fsilent-hill-ps5-exclusive-reveal-date-leak-when%2F

Now, another Insider known as KatharsisT shared in a forum post that the announcement is planned for this year. Now, we still need to take it with a grain of salt, but there have been some big rumors surrounding the project. It seems to have been titled “Project 0” and got handed to Sony’s Japan Studio. Supposedly, the original Silent Hill director Keiichiro Toyama will return alongside Silent Hill 2′S composer Akira Yamaoka. Some rumors point to this project already being developed for two years with a 2021 or early 2022 release planned.

It won’t be Silent Hills but a new project altogether, which will act as a reboot of the franchise that will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5. We are only a month away from the Game Awards, so I do hope that there is some validity to these rumors. They have been piling on over the last few months, so it seemed like the right time to talk about it. Sony has been good at revamping older franchises, so I cannot wait to see what they can do with such an iconic series like Silent Hill.

  • ‘ETERNALS’: First Look at Promotional Material

‘ETERNALS’: First Look at Promotional Material

If all were to have gone accordingly, many fans would’ve already purchased their tickets and would be heading to theaters Thursday night to see the next chapter in Marvel’s lineup, the highly anticipated Eternals. The film was originally set to release on November 6th, but due to the ongoing pandemic is now set to release on November 5th, 2021. However, our first look at the team side by side in some leaked promotional work for the film courtesy of Twitter user @yeezkie

The first photo features the team together with some of the film’s stacked cast from left to right Lia Mchugh as Sprite, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Ma Dong-Seok as Gilgamesh, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Barry Keoghan as Druig, and Lauren Ridloff as Makkari. Sadly we did not receive our first look at Kit Harrington’s Black Knight in this lineup.

The final Image included a better close up look at Richard Madden as Ikaris, one of the leaders of the Eternals, sporting a quasi-comic accurate suit.

Marvel’s Eternals, directed by Chloe Zhao and will release this time next year on November 5, 2021, with an all-star lineup to fill out its ranks.

  • ‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’: Darcy’s Return for the Sequel Apparently Not in the Stars

‘THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER’: Darcy’s Return for the Sequel Apparently Not in the Stars

Kat Dennings’ Darcy, an original character created for the MCU in Kenneth Branaugh’s Thor, has always held an interesting place in the hearts and minds of fans. When her character didn’t appear in Thor: Ragnarok, it looked like the end for her MCU journey makig the announcement at SDCC ’19 that her character would be appearing in WandaVision a major surprise. With her character back in the picture, fans have wondered if we’d see more of her in the upcoming Thor sequel, Love and Thunder, which will film early next year. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dennings shed some light on that developing situation.

Darcy Lewis | Marvel Cinematic Database | Fandom

Fans of the character should prepare themselves for a let down because while we know her good friend Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, is returning for the 4th installment in the franchise, Dennings hasn’t gotten the call from director Taika Waititi:  “No, still no idea! I don’t think I’m in it. I feel like I would have heard by now. So literally my answer is I have no idea, I have even less an idea than I did before” she told ET. Dennings did, however, speak out in support of the film and the exciting new direction for Portman’s Foster who is set to become the Mighty Thor, saying, “I thought it was genius, the most genius thing I had ever heard. I think it’s so brilliant. I mean, [Portman], you know, she’s a rock star actor, she can do anything. As a fan, I’m just excited to watch it.”

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to begin production in Australia early next year and be in theaters on February 11th,  2022!

  • Ysa Penarejo Seemingly Playing Green Lantern Jade in ‘Stargirl’

Ysa Penarejo Seemingly Playing Green Lantern Jade in ‘Stargirl’

The first season for Stargirl was a smash hit on both DC Universe and The CW. The show has now found a permanent home on the CW with its second season. With the shows focus on honoring the legacy of the Justice Society of America, we were bound to be seeing more heroes join the ranks of the team. We would see a new generation take on the mantle of the fallen heroes.

Last week we got the news that Nick Taraby and Jonathan Cake would be joining the cast for the second season as the main antagonist Eclipso and Shade. In addition, there was a tidbit that Ysa Penarejo had joined the cast. Though, who Penarejo would end up playing was a mystery at the time. Early on, there was speculation that she would be playing the role of Jade, the newest recruit to Courtney’s new generation of heroes. This news has seems now to be confirmed due to a recent Instagram story uploaded by Wildcat actress, Yvette Montreal. In the image, we can clearly see Penarejo wearing the Starheart, Alan Scott’s iconic Green Lantern ring.

For those that don’t know, Jade is the daughter of Alan Scott and the supervillain Rose Canton. She is also the twin sister of Todd Rice, who goes by Obsidian. Both were given up for adoption and split up by Rose fearing, that she would harm them. Jade would go on to find her brother, and they would become founding members of the team Infinity Inc. after being rejected by the JSA. Jade and Obsidian both gained their abilities from their father’s prolonged exposure to the Starheart, which gave Jade the ability to conjure green energy and shape it into constructs. Not just that, she also has her mother’s ability to manipulate plants. With Jade seemingly set to join the show, her twin brother Obsidian cannot be too far behind.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Offers First Look at ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Jemma Simmons

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Offers First Look at ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Jemma Simmons

We have discussed Marvel’s Avengers here quite often. There were the leaks of War Machine and Black Panther’s design. Among them, there was a strange audio leak teasing a ghost-related storyline featuring Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Jemma Simmons. Of course, as a fan of the series, I was excited to see this character potentially getting added in a later update. Well, it looks like she might already be in the game but not in the way you would think.

Avengers data miner @mmmmmmmmiller has been a reliable source in the past. He revealed quite a few details on the game and was the one to showcase War Machine’s initial design. He initially pointed out that there were voice files for the character. Well, it looks like he managed to get a good look at the character’s earlier in-game design.

Okay, so she looks nothing like Elizabeth Henstridge, which shouldn’t be surprising. They would have to pay to use her likeness in the game. Also, as Miller points out, this is not a finalized character model as she isn’t in the final build of the game. Still, there are many big takeaways from this. It seems that her unique mission might’ve been scrapped at some point in development.

Miller also confirms she was far into development, so they might still want to use the existing assets later. He does point out she may have been replaced by Maddy Cho, which is interesting if you consider she is part of the Inhuman Resistance rather than SHIELD. It could be that they used the character model as a template. I have to point out that her surroundings would place her in Substation Zero, so we will see if there is more to this story. I hope to see her added to the Helicarrier in the currently unused science lab.

These weren’t the only older models he could find that got replaced later on. Sadly, it also debunks the other leak that Big Hero 6‘s Go-Go Tomago could make an appearance, as we finally get a reveal for the character, who was named Tanaka in the audio files. Jitterbug was also in these audio files, so it may confirm that these ended up unused at some point in development.

It is interesting to see these NPCs so far into development before they got scrapped. They have names, audio files, and rendered models, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we still see them added at a later date. Hopefully, we will see these characters return as the game grows. Simmons’ inclusion would also be perfect once they add Quake, who is mentioned in the game and was part of the DLC leak a while back. Still, this is a nice look into what may have changed throughout development and could tease what else might be coming our way further down the line.

  • Absent from November’s “Next on Disney Plus” Announcement, ‘WANDAVISION’ Seems Set for December

Absent from November’s “Next on Disney Plus” Announcement, ‘WANDAVISION’ Seems Set for December

The first of the month has come and with it has come our first look at what to expect on Disney Plus in the month of November. Noticeably absent from the video was Marvel Studios WandaVision, a streaming series set to be Marvel Studios first shot at original MCU content for the service.

While Marvel Studios have yet to give an official announcement date, it now seems like WandaVision will stream at some point in December as the studio has indicated a 2020 release for the series. While evidence pointed to a Thanksgiving weekend streaming start for the series, it now seems highly unlikely we’ll be seeing WandaVision while we eat our turkey sandwiches. Though it’s possible that the series could still begin streaming in November, it seems more likely that with reshoots/pick-ups on the series just recently wrapping that the studio will take its time and, hopefully, give fans a holiday season surprise sometime in December.
