  • First Look at ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Prowler in Action in Launch Trailer

First Look at ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Prowler in Action in Launch Trailer

Can you believe that Insomniac’s Spider-Man sequel is only a few days away from releasing? Their latest entry into the franchise will kick-off the next generation of gaming, as it releases on PlayStation 5 during its launch. Now, to celebrate its upcoming release, Insomniac has released a brand new launch trailer that offers a much closer look at the story to come. We get a small glimpse of Prowler in action. Peter Parker leaves the city in MIles’ hands as he starts to grow into his own as the titular character. We also get another tease of the ongoing conflict between the Tinkerer and Roxxon. We even get a tease of Rhino’s new look for the game, which has a rather familiar red to it.

The game looks better with each new trailer. Insomniac certainly is kickstarting the next generation of gaming, as the animations and models are looking better than ever. I love that they ended the trailer with the Spider-Cat takedown, which might be something I will spam more often than I am willing to confess. If you don’t have a PlayStation 5 pre-ordered, do not worry, the game will also be available on PlayStation 4. Plus, you’ll get a free upgrade once you can purchase the next Sony console. It’ll be interesting to see the difference between both, especially as we are entering a new era with ray-tracing and a stronger SSD. I am excited to see if the DualSense lets you feel the web in your hand as Miles’ swings through New York City. We are about to enter a brand new chapter in gaming and the world of Insomniac’s Spider-Man. I cannot wait to see what the next generation has in store for us.

  • CONFIRMED: Solve Everything a Marvel Studios Property; ‘FANTASTIC FOUR’ Likely a Go

CONFIRMED: Solve Everything a Marvel Studios Property; ‘FANTASTIC FOUR’ Likely a Go

This update won’t come as much of a surprise to anyone, but since we first reported on Grass-Fed Productions and Solve Everything Productions, the latter of which we firmly believe to be associated with the Marvel Studios Fantastic Four project, it does seem appropriate to follow up. When we broke the news a few months ago, we were able to confirm that Grass-Fed Productions was a Marvel Studios production company; however, until today, I had only anecdotal evidence that Solve Everything Productions was also a Marvel Studios production company meaning, ironically, you just had to take our word for it…until today.

Marvel 75th Anniversary: Fantastic Four Fine Art Lithograph by Alex Ross | Sideshow Collectibles

As of today, there’s no room for doubt: Solve Everything Productions is officially a registered Marvel Studios property and, as we discussed, points directly at Fantastic Four and making it highly probable that Kevin Fiege and crew have given the green light to the project. While there is no official word from the studio at the moment, it seems increasingly likely that Fantastic Four will be added to the 2023 slate which means we should expect a creative team to be put together at some point in 2021. Again, most of us had already come to this conclusion, but TO MY KNOWLEDGE, there had been no confirmation of the connection until now.

For the record, Marvel Studios reps had no comment on the situation.

  • ‘Mass Effect Legendary Edition’ Finally Confirmed

‘Mass Effect Legendary Edition’ Finally Confirmed

Mass Effect has quite a history. The third entry was quite controversial when it launched but it still gave us a very unique blend of action and role-playing. You took control of Commander Shepard, who must stop the invasion of the machine race Reapers. The entire game was planned out as a trilogy, which ended in 2012. There was also a spin-off titled Andromeda that focused on a new character and era. Suddenly, quite a lot of rumors have spread throughout the year about a remaster of the original trilogy. After a long wait, it became a secret that everyone knew was coming. Now, it has finally been revealed in a short teaser.

The teaser showcases the many unique characters that join your cause throughout the trilogy that are part of the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. They are not full remakes of the original. You can expect improvements to the core game. They used higher resolution and framerates, as well as upgraded the textures and models. The DLC is also included in the re-release, which will release in Spring 2021. It also looks like a brand new entry is in development in the franchise, but no official details are available.

It will be interesting to see how unique the 2007 version will look once it is upgraded. Mass Effect 2 was a personal favorite in the trilogy, especially with the various character relations. The whole concept of you preparing for a suicide mission where you can lose your members was truly unique, so it is a trilogy worth revisiting.

  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Offers Minor Kate Bishop Update, Gear Optimization and More

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Offers Minor Kate Bishop Update, Gear Optimization and More

It is time again for another developer stream for Marvel’s Avengers. We got a small glimpse into what is in development last week, so I was curious about what they might reveal or hint at this time around. Well, it was a quieter stream as they didn’t reveal much. Phil and Andy returned but teased that we may get some appearances of others from the development team or voice cast in the future. Let’s not waste time and jump into some of the highlights from the stream:

    • Phil confirmed that the Kate Bishop DLC is in bug testing, but naturally, there was no release date mentioned. Still, they do highlight again that they wish they could giveaway these dates. They also highlighted again the challenges they are facing.
    • They apologized for the German post. It was mistimed but did confirm that AIM Cloning Labs is getting bug tested for release. Crystal Dynamics confirmed the level will be quite a challenge and cannot be played in single-player, as there are multiple puzzle elements. Cloning Labs will be only on weekends, as they plan on adding others that will map the rest of the week.

    • Mega Hives are going to get a multiplayer variation. They are already working on it.
    • New variations of daily missions are already in development. They have a designated team behind that. If you noticed in their last War Table blog, they released pictures from the dev version of the game that lists 150+ missions. They also seem to be working on a mission type that will have you fighting enemy waves.
    • More villains are definitely on the way. Our streamers teased more complexity in the last stream.

    • Do not expect any vehicles for existing heroes. They are working on fixing the traversal issues with some of the heroes, most notably Captain America.
    • They are working on gear modifications as well as expansions on existing sets, especially for heroes post the 50 level cap. Loadouts were also confirmed to be in development in the last stream.
    • PVE experience is their core focus, so do not expect PVP for a long time.
    • Character updates will vary in size. They chose them based on what type of character they want for strike teams and if they fit the overarching narrative.

Not many larger news stories to pick from here, but they are hard at work on the game. Of course, they did point out the roadmap is still being worked on. We still are at the beginning of November, so there is still some time for the time range they teased a while back for the roadmap. It would be good to get some idea of when things release, but that depends on how far they get with bug fixes. These types of games are long-term investments that have a bad reputation. There are currently discussions surrounding its profitability for Square-Enix going around on Social Media and various platforms that are much more complex to cover based on minor information. Here’s hoping next week gives us some more information, as we have now entered the game’s third month.

  • Tom Holland Gives Behind the Scenes Look at ‘SPIDER-MAN 3’

Tom Holland Gives Behind the Scenes Look at ‘SPIDER-MAN 3’

Earlier today, Tom Holland uploaded a behind the scenes picture to his Instagram.

The image depicts Tom, wearing his suit costume from the last film, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), while wearing a “double mask”, providing a look behind the scenes and confirming that production is well underway for the upcoming MCU-based Spider-Man sequel. We should note that the actor, along with Jacob Batalon and Zendaya, have all arrived the past week in Atlanta for the production of the untitled Spider-Man 3 sequel and that most of the Homecoming (2017) and Far From Home (2019) cast are expected to return, along with the incorporation of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and Jamie Foxx, who will be reprising his role as Electro for this film.

Rumors about the plot of the film have run rampant with everything from Spider-Slayers to a Multiverse that includes Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning as their versions of Peter Parker but, unfortunately, this photo doesn’t give anything away in terms of plot spoilers.

‘Spider-Man: Something with Home in the Title’ is expected to premiere in December 2021.

  • Leslye Headland’s ‘Star Wars’ Series to be a Martial Arts Thriller

Leslye Headland’s ‘Star Wars’ Series to be a Martial Arts Thriller

The Mandalorian just started its second season, but Disney+ is already hard at work on more series. Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi are already entering pre-production with more on the way. Among them, we got the report that Lselye Headland was working on an unnamed project featuring a female-led cast. She is known for her work on Netflix’s Russian Doll and Sleeping With Other People. We still know little about what we can expect from the series, but some new details might be teasing the direction they are going.

The series will be an action thriller with martial arts elements. It would potentially push the franchise in a new direction, as we didn’t have a lot of hand-to-hand combat throughout. Jedi had the force and their lightsabers to do most of the fighting. It also states that it will be in an alternate timeline that has not been explored yet. It might not mean we are talking about alternate universes here, but rather a new time we have yet to explore. Perhaps the series will focus on a brand new era to set itself apart from the rest.

The Disney+ series are great to expand smaller corners of the galaxy that we only briefly saw so far. The Mandalorian has been proving the potential of this approach. Even its shortest episodes highlight what is out there beyond the Skywalker saga. The upcoming series will explore the vast history that was just barely scratched in the original film series.

  • ‘YOUNG AVENGERS’ May Be On Deck for Marvel Studios

‘YOUNG AVENGERS’ May Be On Deck for Marvel Studios

On October 16th, Disney created 3 new production companies. The fact that they were created on the same day might point towards them being Marvel Studios properties. Marvel Studios has a track record of creating production companies in bulk where as other branches of Disney usually produce them one at a time. For example, as revealed by Murphy’s Multiverse, Grass-Fed Productions and Solve Everything Productions were created on the same day as were many of Marvel Studios upcoming Disney+ projects. While we don’t know that they are Marvel Studios production companies, we did find some additional evidence that backs up the possibility that they are Marvel Studios productions, though it wasn’t enough to make us 100% certain. So what are they?   The production companies are Standoffish Productions, Blueberry Waffles Productions , and Log Jam Productions. While we can’t tie them to any Marvel property, we do have some ideas.

While this is a very loose connection, we think we have an idea of what one of the production companies could possibly be. Blueberry Waffles, here is our explanation. We have seen in Young Avengers Volume 2, written by Kieron Gillen and launched in January of 2013, that the team continuously meets up at Joe’s Diner for breakfast. In one of the issues, Kid Loki eats blueberry pancakes. As I like to say, waffles are just pancakes with abs, so this could be the production we are looking for. While we already know Marvel is developing a Young Avengers project, this could be them moving forward with the project. We are not 100% sure, but this could the answer.

While this is some pretty shaky evidence, we do know that Marvel Studios is developing many other projects like Blade (he stakes vampires with wood, so Log Jam…get it?), Ghost Rider, Illuminati, Ironheart, Secret Invasion and Secret Warriors, in addition to Young Avengers, so there are plenty of reasonable options for these production companies. Keep in mind that not all production companies are tied straight to the comic books. For example, WandaVision was Static Productions. Nobody would have ever found that one out. It is the same situation for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier streaming series that was Pandemic Productions. Until we have further proof, all we can do is keep this in the back of our minds as something to think about and with Marvel Studios slate already pretty full, it would be a while before any of these projects got up and running.

  • Leaked First Look at Tyler Hoechlin’s New Superman Suit

Leaked First Look at Tyler Hoechlin’s New Superman Suit

Since his first appearance on Supergirl, Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent has sported the same suit. There was one exception, as he wore a black variant in the Elseworlds crossover, but that was technically Doctor Destiny pretending to be Clark via the Book of Destiny. Never the less, he was bound for an upgrade sooner or later. Now, the first season of Superman and Lois is set to hit the CW early next year as the newest addition to the Arrowverse, joining shows like BatwomanFlashStargirl, and Black Lightning.

While they aren’t the best, new set photos have given us our first look at what Hoechlin’s new suit will look like and it already seems to be a vast improvement on the first with a much more streamlined look with the removal of the infamous cape clips a new belt, new red boots, and what looks to be a much brighter emblem on his chest. The look is highly reminiscent of the look Superman first sported back in 2016 at the dawn of the current DC storyline, Rebirth.

Superman and Lois is set to take flight on February 23rd. It will feature the return of Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel and Bitsie Tulloch’s Lois Lane as the couple adjusts to parenthood on a post-crisis Earth-Prime, where Clark will have to balance being a superhero and a father.

  • No Good To Us Dead: ‘BOBA FETT’ Series Headed into Production

No Good To Us Dead: ‘BOBA FETT’ Series Headed into Production

Last week The Mandalorian brought Boba Fett back from the dead. Now, according to a trade report, Lucasfilm has greenlit a solo mini-series about the newly resurrected bounty hunter which could begin principal filming as soon as next week!

Mark Hamill addresses Boba Fett returning in Mandalorian season 2

Rumors about a possible Boba Fett series date back to early 2019 but Temura Morrison’s appearance at the end of Chapter 9 seemed to cement Lucasfilm’s plans to bring Boba back into the limelight. Much of the future of Star Wars seems tied to Disney Plus with several live-action series already in the works (Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan foremost among them), the Bad Batch animated series and former Disney CEO Bob Iger indicating that the success of The Mandalorian would lead to spinoffs set within that corner of the universe. If Boba Fett is the first among those spinoffs, Lucasfilm is coming out swinging.

The trade report indicated that Lucasfilm has been keeping the development of this series (and possibly others) close to the vest and, for that reason, were unable to confirm a start of production or who might be working on the project; however, should production start up over the next few weeks, we would hope some official news might break.

  • ‘Stargirl’ Casts Jim Gaffigan as Thunderbolt

‘Stargirl’ Casts Jim Gaffigan as Thunderbolt

Stargirl has been slowly adding to its cast as it prepares for its upcoming second season. They finally found their main villains in Shade and Eclipso. There was also the casting of Ysa Penarejo, who might end up being Alan Scott’s daughter Jade. Slowly, the show has been gathering its new members to join the Justice Society of America, but it looks like one more character will be joining Courtney. Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan reportedly will join the cast to voice a fully CG-character known as Thunderbolt. In the comics, he lived inside a pen. It briefly was seen in the show, so many expected his addition sooner rather than later. Entertainment Weekly also shared the following description of the character.

The wishes he grants often cause more trouble than the wish-asker would ever expect. But despite his somewhat constant supernatural disasters, the Thunderbolt’s heart is always in the right place, even if it is wounded by the friends he has lost throughout his long existence.

He is an extremely powerful character in the comics, so it seems they will stick to that very fact. Thunderbolt can fulfill wishes like other genies and is from the land of Bahdnesia. The casting confirms he will make an appearance at some point, but it is uncertain if he will have a larger role in the story. CW may be using the character for a one-off episode, and he will end up back where he came from by the end of it. Still, he could also end up being the Ex Machina for the story, as they are about to face some truly powerful enemies. Gaffigan is a fun addition to the cast, so it would be a waste not to have him around for multiple episodes, but we will see once the show airs its second season on the CW.
