RUMOR: First Details on ‘Black Adam’s Doctor Fate Revealed

Black Adam has been quite busy with pre-production, as it is starting to unite the various members of the Justice Society of America. There is one addition that was teased during the DC FanDome panel, the mysterious Doctor Fate. There have been many to hold the title and iconic golden helmet. As the film will focus on the JSA, we all assumed it would be the incarnation of Kent Nelson. He was the one to open the tomb of Nabu the Wise, who would mentor him as a sorcerer. He also is the one to bestow him the iconic helmet, amulet, and cloak, which would become iconic aspects of the character. There was no official word on who we can expect, but Illuminerdi might have some info to shed some light on the character’s future.

It seems that the team behind Black Adam is looking for someone in their 30s to play the character. His description states that he is a “kind academic” who “becomes a terrifying force of nature, who sounds and acts differently.” This description fits the dual nature of Doctor Fate, as the mystical helmet was also known to have a mind of its own. He will retain his abilities of telepathy and telekinesis. He will also be able to slow time and alter reality. They are using Sam Rockwell as a reference, but, as Illuminerdi also points out, he is outside of the age range they were aiming for.

Doctor Fate will have his debut on the silver screen, but he was adapted into live-action in the past. Our first real live-action incarnation was on Smallville. We briefly saw his helmet in Constantine. Doctor Fate was also a member of the JSA in Stargirl. Yet, we haven’t gotten a chance to see his abilities in action, as he is quite a beast within the DC Universe. Hopefully, we will get some casting news in the coming months, as the film starts gearing up for production.

  • Joe Manganiello to Reprise Role as Deathstroke in ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

Joe Manganiello to Reprise Role as Deathstroke in ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

Reshoots for Zack Snyder’s Justice League started to take place earlier this week, as reported by THR. So far, the cast members that were included in these reshoots were reportedly Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, Jared Leto, and Amber Heard as Batman, Cyborg, Joker, and Mera respectively. Now, we have learned that Joe Manganiello is set to reprise his role as Deathstroke for the upcoming DC production, as reported by Collider & their sources state that Manganiello will be returning to the set for additional shooting.

It is important to note that Joe Manganiello was seen last night during a League of Legends event live on Twitch sporting a look similar to that of his Deathstroke appearance in the Justice League (2017) post-credit scene, as seen in the image above. When the project was officially announced back in May, Manganiello had actually gone on Instagram to state that the Synder Cut would include “the original post-credit scene”. What that original post-credit scene was, only time will tell.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to premiere exlucisvely on HBO Max in 2021.

  • ‘Shazam: Fury of The Gods’ Looking to Cast Three Wicked Sisters

‘Shazam: Fury of The Gods’ Looking to Cast Three Wicked Sisters

After the electrifying success of the first Shazam! film, they quickly announced the development of the sequel. Of course, the cast and director are also returning for the highly anticipated follow-up. Getting production rolling on the film was priority number one due to the rapid aging of the young cast. The official title of the film was announced back in August during DC FanDome as Shazam!: Fury of The Gods. As production draws closer and closer, it seems their sparing no second and beginning the search for the film’s antagonist.
It has been reported that the film is looking to cast three sisters, varying widely in age, who willl serve as adversaries in the upcoming sequel. Currently, the casting is looking for a Zendaya type for the youngest. One sister will be in the age range between 40 to 50. they have Eva Green and Halle Berry listed. Finally, the oldest sister will be a bit older, with the casting looking for a 50-60 age range. It highlights that Helen Mirren would be their ideal casting.
Now many are probably beginning to wonder who these three sisters could be. Shazams’ roster of villains does not include any three sisters in comic history. We believe that the sisters could be the three sisters of fate: Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. The sisters were once the daughters of Nyx, but have come to be known as the daughters of Zeus and Themis in Greek mythology. The Fates are said to be so powerful that not even Zeus could overturn their decisions. They are also known as the weaving goddesses, who decide the fates of man when they are born. The sisters maybe after the Shazamily. Now that Billy has shared the power of the wizards with his foster siblings to defeat Sivana and the Seven Deadly Sins, they may have unleashed something even more dangerous.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Spider-Man DLC Eyeing January Release

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Spider-Man DLC Eyeing January Release

There was a lot of drama this year when it was announced that Spider-Man would be an exclusive character for Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers game. As the character’s latest single-player game was a PlayStation exclusive, Sony jumped at the chance to keep that brand consistency. Of course, we have no idea how exactly this would work with consistent updates promised for all systems. We have no idea when he would be released with some rumors pointing him to being a March addition. Well, an eagle-eyed reader of the PlayStation magazine noticed a little detail during their Spider-Man: Miles Morales coverage. u/icematt12 noticed that a small section on the Avengers game states that Spidey will release in January.

Avengers PS5 paragraph in latest UK PlayStation Magazine
    byu/icematt12 inPlayAvengers

This is actually a huge reveal, as we were uncertain when he would release. Also, this is from the official PlayStation Magazine, so there is some validity to it. So far, the only confirmed characters are next month’s Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, and Black Panther. The latest State of the Game hinted at a War Table coming next month that will give us a clearer picture. Keep in mind that anything can also change, as CD is currently facing delays due to the first month being quite rocky.

So, for now, take this as a potential release window and no official confirmation until the developers actually give us a date. Still, it is helpful to get a feeling for when we can expect him, and early 2021 is a good estimate for now. Our best guess is to wait for next month’s War Table video to give us some insight into what Crystal Dynamics is working on and when we can expect it. Hopefully, things will be much clearer for the coming months.

  • ‘Spider-Man 3’ Revving Up for Early November Production Start

‘Spider-Man 3’ Revving Up for Early November Production Start

We are anxiously waiting for the production of Spider-Man 3 to start in November. There is still no sign of the official title for the film, as many rumors start to pile up. All we know is that the story will pick up where Far From Home left off. Mysterio has revealed Peter Parker’s secret identity to the world. That is not all, the former Stark employee has now pinned his death on the young superhero.

Now, he is the center of attention, as the police and some villains might be out to get theri revenge for the kid that put them behind bars. It will be a challenging time, as he will have to keep a cool head while being faced with his biggest challenge yet. As the film has been in pre-production for some time, Holland‘s stunt double Greg Townley has shared a first look at what kind of action we can expect.

It looks like they are going one step further with the action. The way Townley landed could also highlight that he will be quite frantic in his escape. It wouldn’t surprise me if he manages to get even more banged up throughout the story. Stuntwork is an amazing aspect of film making, which really deserves more attention with how much work they put into it. I cannot wait to see if I recognize this short sequence once the film releases hopefully next year.

Spider-Man 3 will be quite an interesting film to keep an eye out for. Recent reports have revealed that the film will also include Jamie Foxx‘s Elektro and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Foxx already played the characteer in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so this may hint at the multiverse having some role in the story. We still don’t know who the main villain is, so hopefully next month’s early production start will also signify that we will get some reveals in the coming weeks. We have gotten so many teases of what this crazy film might end up being that I cannot wait until we get our first look.

  • Theory Thursday: Exploring the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse

Theory Thursday: Exploring the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse

There’s no doubt in my mind that the biggest story element that will come into play for the Next Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be the concept of the Multiverse. Already teased back in Avengers: Endgame (2019) with Dr. Banner’s explanation of the concept of time travel and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), the MCU looks like it will indeed explore the boundaries outside of its already established universe. This concept will most likely be explored on a larger scale over the Disney+ series, WandaVision (2020) and Loki (2021), and the MCU film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), (with rumors of the concept being explored in the upcoming Spider-Man sequel; Spider-Man: Something with Home in the Title (2021)). We’ll also be able to see the concept of the multiverse be explored on a smaller scale in the upcoming Disney+ show; What If? (2021). Now, definitely, the major chunk of the film will be explored in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel and there are dozens of questions as to what different universes we might explore. So today, I’m listing off the different Marvel properties that Marvel could revisit and explore for this film.

    I. Blade (1998 – 2004)

This was a suggestion by the members of our Discord Group in Knowhere (Shoutout to you guys!). Wesley Snipes’ Blade walked so Marvel Studios could run. The film franchise that would essentially lay the groundwork for many of the Marvel superhero films we now know today started with the Blade franchise and it actually brought back interest to the Marvel Comics franchise to develop their films. It would be nice to see Marvel Studios show a small nod to the universe of the vampire hunter before we get our own version in the MCU with Mahershala Ali.

    II. Daredevil/Elektra (2003 – 2005)

This was another suggestion by our Discord Members and it was just too funny not to imagine the idea of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner reprising their roles as Daredevil and Elektra for small cameos in the Doctor Strange sequel. These films were set in the time and universe where leather was the standard for Superhero costumes and I’d just love to see Ben Affleck don the Matt Murdock mantle again, even if for a small cameo. Speaking of Matt Murdock…

    III. The Defenders Universe (2015-2019)

It’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that the way Netflix brought about the creation of these characters and their stories was overall one of the best things to come out of Marvel TV. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil was, and still is, one of the most popular iterations of Marvel characters brought to life and has been one of the most requested by fans for Kevin Feige to bring back in a small reboot form to the MCU. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, Finn Jones’ Iron Fist, and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher are no exceptions either. Fantastic story development and world-building came from this portion of the universe and it would be great to see these characters show a small cameo of their world in the Marvel Multiverse and maybe crossover into the MCU someday.

    IV. Fantastic Four (2005-2007)

Now when I mention the Fantastic Four, I mean THESE Fantastic Four. We call the 2015 film; Fan4stic (as in Fan-Four-Stic) because that wasn’t a Fantastic 4 film. This version of Marvel’s first family with Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, Jessica Alba as Susan Storm, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm wasn’t necessarily all that fantastic either, but the chemistry among them really made them great and it was a very fun franchise while it lasted. It would be fun to see them revisit this universe in a small cameo and maybe we’ll see Evans reprise his role again as Johnny Storm and have him be confused for his MCU counterpart of Captain America.

    V. The X-Men (2000 – 2020)

Okay, so the 20th Century Fox-owned X-Men films have existed for nearly 20 years now and they’ve had their share of ups and downs (mainly downs), but they’ve had some good moments and actors in these franchises whom I would love to see cameo in this whole Multiverse fiasco. Mainly Hugh Jackman as Wolverine because it’s just difficult to picture another Wolverine as iconic as his. An interaction of Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier with Doctor Strange sounds like it would be an interesting thing to see as well. I don’t think it will necessarily happen but one can dream no?

    VI. Ghost Rider (2007 – 2011)

Nicolas Cage’s take on the antihero was something definitely worth mentioning here on this list. Sure, the films are slightly forgettable but just the idea of Cage alone being nodded as a Ghost Rider from another dimension sounds like a fantastic idea for a cameo and a tease of what could come if the MCU finally decides to introduce Ghost Rider into the MCU.

    VII. Spider-Man (2002 – 2015)

I know many like myself are hyping themselves up at even the smallest chance of having a Spider-Verse moment occur in live-action. It’s something fans have been clamoring for for years, and now, with the gates of the multiverse being blown wide open in the MCU, it seems like the perfect time to bring these characters in for an adventure of epic proportions. Will it happen though? Only time will tell.

  • First Official Look at Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake in ‘Uncharted’

First Official Look at Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake in ‘Uncharted’

Just today, we got our first real tease of the upcoming Uncharted film. It will adapt the iconic franchise by the game developer Naughty Dog. It will feature Tom Holland in the iconic role of Nathan Drake. Once voiced by Nolan North, the treasure hunter traveled the world to uncover hidden treasures and lost cities. The last entry was a spin-off title The Lost Legacy that was released in 2017, which took the focus away from the iconic character and give his supporting cast more attention. Drake’s story officially ended in the fourth entry known as Thief’s End. Now, we are all waiting anxiously for the upcoming film that is slowly finishing up production. After a short tease of North visiting the set, we also got our first official look at Holland in costume.

He certainly has the looks down for the iconic character. The colors of his outfit seem similar to the one he wears in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. It would be interesting if they pay tribute to the various colors he has worn throughout the franchise in this film. We also see Sir Francis Drake’s iconic ring, which states Sic Parvis Magma, which translates to: “Greatness from small beginnings”. It is an item that heavily defines Drake’s character in the games. We also get a tease of the set design, as he is standing on a destroyed galleon There aren’t any dead giveaways if this connects to the recent reveal of Ferdinand Magellan or if it is part of an expedition that tried to find whatever treasure they are hunting. In the games, you spend a lot of time going from one clue to the next until you uncover the actual secret of the story. Still, Holland looks fantastic in the role, and cannot wait to see how they translated this game franchise to the silver screen.

  • ‘UNCHARTED’ Film Set Gets a Surprise Visitor

‘UNCHARTED’ Film Set Gets a Surprise Visitor

If you’re familiar with the Uncharted videogame franchise the name Nolan North should ring a bell. He’s the actor that brought Nathan Drake’s voice to life, with incredible performances throughout the series.

With principal photography on the movie adaptation currently well underway, Nolan was invited for set visit where he got to hang out with Tom Holland, that will be responsible for introducing his own version of Nathan Drake to a new audience.

This set pictures also might give us a little glimpse of what the plot of the movie might be all about. In the open book, we see a picture of Fernão de Magalhães (Ferdinand Magellan), a Portuguese explorer that was the leader of the first successful circumnavigation of the Earth. Back then Europeans had only reached the West Indies through the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. The Spanish expedition that he lead tried to reach the same territory by traveling west, instead of east, which was, at the time, a tremendous breakthrough. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to live through the entirety of the expedition, having died in battle in the Philippines, struck by a bamboo spear.

If his journey is to be a part of the upcoming movie, only time will tell.

  • MORTAL KOMBAT 11: First Look at Rambo Gameplay

MORTAL KOMBAT 11: First Look at Rambo Gameplay

October has been real kind to us Mortal Kombat fans. First, we get the Kombat Pack 2 announcement confirming three new characters, and last night, we got a good look at Rain’s gameplay in the Kombat Kast stream. Today, Netherrealm Studios is blessing us with the first look at John Rambo’s gameplay to coincide with the 38th anniversary of the first Rambo film. Check out the footage below!

So the devs weren’t lying when they said that the character wasn’t going to be a straight-up zoning character. Right from the get-go, we see that Rambo’s main weapon of choice is his knife. With all his traps, he’s got an array of set-ups which I think will convince skeptics to give him a chance. He does seem a little bit on the slow side akin to the Terminator but I’m sure his frame data will say otherwise. As someone who plays Nightwolf, I’m seeing a lot of the character in Rambo, with the bow, knife, and the crouching roll he does.  His prone position crawl looks insane and I wonder how it’ll fare in an actual game. Overall, I think NRS did a fantastic job making the character’s moveset super fun.

  • ‘THE MANDALORIAN’: The Story So Far

‘THE MANDALORIAN’: The Story So Far

The Mandalorian‘s second season is just a few days away, so it seems like the perfect time for a quick recap of the first. One day in a galaxy far far away, a man who is shy about showing his face finds a magical baby. So, he gets chased by guys in plastic armor while finding his purpose and friends along the way. Of course, I am just joking, and there is a lot more to the first season of The Mandalorian.

Our first live-action Star Wars series introduced us to a Mandalorian foundling named Din Djarin. He is a bounty hunter trying to get by after the Empire’s destruction. His skills garner quite a lot of attention, which leads to him being offered a very peculiar mission by a client (Werner Herzog), who seems to have ties with the Empire. He is to find and take out an unknown target. He finds it with the help of a Ugnaught known as Kuiil (Nick Nolte) but can’t find it in himself as he realizes it is just a child. Technically, it is 50 years old, but by his behavior, he seems to be a toddler. After his ship gets taken apart by Java’s, he takes on a rhinoceros creature called a Mudhorn. In this process, he uncovers that the mysterious child has a strange ability only passed on in legends.

After spending some time with the kid, he still ends up return the child to his employer, who rewards him handsomely. Mando, as the bounty hunter guild leader Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) likes to call him, is paid in Beskar steel, which is a sacred metal of his kind. The Mandalorian armorer grants him a brand new shiny outfit with which he decides to save the child from whatever faith may befall him. He almost gets shot down before his brothers and sisters, who were in hiding, help him escape while sacrificing their hiding spot. Djarin is on the run to keep the child safe. He briefly tries to seek refuge on the forest planet Sorgan. There he works alongside former Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune (Gina Carano) to take down a stolen AT-ST. Yet, bounty hunters are hot on their tail, which gets him stranded on Tatooine. After a bounty goes south, we get a glimpse of a mysterious stranger walking through the desert.

Afterward, he is in desperate need of a job, so he gets in contact with some old buddies. We get introduced to the first man from Space Boston, Mayfield (Bill Burr). The mission sees them infiltrating a prison ship but, of course, our sharpshooter gets double-crossed. Luckily, Mando is also a fan of horror films, so he takes them out one after another. He didn’t kill them, as they are now trapped as prisoners on the ship. Shortly after, he gets a call from Greef Karga, who asks for his help to take out the stormtroopers that taken over the bounty hunter guild. In exchange, he would ensure that they wouldn’t get hunted down anymore. As you can guess, he was going to hand him over, but after the child healed his wound, he had a change of heart.

They recruit Cara, Kuiil, and a reprogrammed IG-11 (Taika Waititi), who was hunting the child earlier in the series, to take on the Empire stormtroopers, who still manage to outgun them. The arrival of a former Imperial officer Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) doesn’t help matters as they try to escape through an underground lava river. IG-11 sacrifices his life as Mando takes on a TIE fighter. Luckily, after one last meeting with the armorer, he is given a jet pack alongside his sigit, which is in the form of the Mudhorn. After a successful battle, Mando flies off with the child without knowing that Moff has survived and has the Darksaber, an ancient lightsaber with a unique black blade.
