It looks like Disney+ is doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Not too long ago, it suddenly looked like they were censoring shows such as Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s bloodier sequences getting cleaned up. What started as fears it is them openly moving away from embracing the current inclusions of darker storylines, especially with the addition of Marvel’s Netflix series, but they swiftly revealed it was a technical error that led to it. Surprisingly, it seems that it happened again and ended up leading to various episodes getting lost.
Deadline is sharing that various series such as Duck Tales, Agent Carter, X-Men: The Animated Series, Owl House, Lizzie McGuire, and other shows are missing episodes. It was first noticed by fans on Reddit complaining about the series missing from the service. Disney has responded and that they are working on correcting this, as the episodes were excluded due to a technical issue on the service which glitched out the episode’s inclusion in the list.
The good thing is that nothing is lost, but it definitely got people’s attention. It seems like the fix might take some time but they ensure it’ll be added once again. Of course, this isn’t a good sign for those that have been hesitant about streamers’ lack of sharing physical releases of their original franchises. Here’s hoping it can be resolved sooner and we’ll find out more later on.
Netflix’s latest anime film to grace the streaming service is Bubble. Tetsurō Araki‘s latest film after his work on Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato is based on a script by Gen Urobuchi and its character designs are from the mind behind Death Note, Takeshi Obata. So, the film has gathered quite a talented group to explore a world where strange bubbles have scattered across the world and turned Tokyo into a strange post-apocalyptic world that has been flooded after a mysterious explosion created a new world for the young people to turn into their personal playground. Can the latest film by WIT Studio offer a compelling mystery and heartfelt story?
Our story mainly focuses on a young boy named Hibiki, who is voiced by Jun Shison, and a group of kids that made the best of the strange gravity phenomenon that has reshaped Tokyo. Various groups have formed that started their own game to capture the flag while running around the overgrown and flooded city. Hibiki is his team’s ace as he has the strange ability to use bubbles as a way to get across dangerous rifts, but prefers working on his own. That is until a mysterious girl saves him and he starts to open up to others.
Hibiki’s story is generally the strongest aspect of this film, as we see this longer slowly open up and fully embrace the importance of working with his team. Uta, the name given to the girl, becomes a key part of that journey and there also are some underlying romantic teases added in to further build their relationship. At the core of the story, it’s more a character study than anything else and it’s given a beautiful package, as the animation is definitely a stand-out in this project.
It really needs to be praised for just how beautifully animated the film is. The bubbles from the title are visually stunning and there’s a great combination of 3D with traditional animation. Yet, when the series decides to close in on a character’s face, especially Uta, they push their animation budget to its limit. The finale especially had some stunning visuals that were quite memorable, as they make the most out of a simple concept of a bubble-filled world. It also has some creative camera work to add some tension to the Parkour that is heavily present in this film, as they jump from one collapsed building to the next.
With all this praise, I sadly have to say that the overall experience with the film didn’t quite land for me. The world they live in is quite memorable, and while I do wish I spent more time with it, the way it ties its world-building to the core narrative feels quite disconnected. We set up a grand mystery on why Tokyo ends up being flooded, especially as it’s the only location that is going through this scenario. The youth seemingly used it as a safe haven to live their life and barter resources through competitions of capture the flag. All sounds good and helps flesh out this world, but the problem is that it acts more like a distraction than an integral aspect of the story.
The games feel like a great bridge to introduce characters at a fast pace, while also giving us some genuine fun action sequences. At first, the parkour inclusion felt natural but as the film went on, you slowly get this sinking feeling that the film was built around that concept rather than vice versa. The film takes a sudden break for a music video of parkour and bubbles. It looks great, but sometimes it just turns into a music video or the biggest threat is the environment. We get introduced to concepts that should add, but we never get a feeling of just how dangerous it really is. At times, there’s a lack of really letting sink in just how dangerous this post-apocalyptic environment truly is.
Throughout the film’s runtime, it feels like two separate stories are meshed together rather than them weaving in and out of each other. There’s a moment that comes out of nowhere to paint and briefly derails the story for a bit before introducing the actual threat for the finale. There’s no real build-up throughout the film to really sink in what their life is like, which isn’t helped by the pacing throughout. The only real connective tissue from one event to the next is Uta and a musical theme that introduces a rather abstract concept into the story.
Bubble‘s strongest moments are when we just get some slice of life. Every time this cast of characters interacts or talks, it’s a fun film as they play off of their dynamic. You get a feeling of how they live in this world. While I do think it could’ve used more showcase of how dangerous it is, especially as later moments suddenly amp up the dangers which weren’t present earlier, it was great to see this group make the best of the situation. We get some adorable moments, and great character development but sadly just not a strong enough focus on what exactly the story wants to be about.
It’s definitely a visual spectacle and the team behind it must be huge fans of parkour for how many movements they threw in. Sadly, it does seem like that takes over and downplays a really interesting world to play around with. I would gladly revisit a story in this world, but I do feel like the one presented here struggled to really bring its ideas together. So, even with my complaints the film is worth checking out but may be a one-time watch.
After much anticipation from fans, the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder finally arrived, bringing us our very first look at Taika Waititi’s next adventure with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. The film will see Thor up against one of his most dangerous foes: Gorr the God Butcher, an alien that wields a powerful Necrosword and travels the universe killing gods. There’s still some uncertainty as to how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will adapt the character due to some legal issues regarding some aspects, but some merchandise may hint at some accurate origins.
Gorr lived a tragic life, having lost everyone he loved most in his life and came to believe that there were no gods. Gorr was proven wrong when he stumbled upon a battle between the elder god Knull and other god who begged Gorr for helped. Gorr, who was enraged that gods did exist and had let his family perish, bonded with Knull’s Necrosword known as All-Black and slayed the other god. All-Black was the first symbiote, created by Knull and used to behead a celestial whose head ultimately became Knowhere.
All-Black left Knull and bonded with Gorr, allowing him to travel the universe slaying gods with the symbiote blade. This is where those pesky legal issues come in because as we all know, the film rights to the symbiotes and everything else pertaining to Spider-Man belong to Sony, making it very difficult to continue that connection between Gorr and Knull. Marvel Studios has run into these issues before. For Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2, the studio made a deal with Fox that allowed them to use Ego.
Some new merchandise may hint that Gorr could still be wielding All-Black and that there could indeed still be symbiotes somewhere in the MCU. A new Funko POP! for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder wave of figures shows Gorr wielding a sword and levitating via some sort of black liquid substance which looks very similar to how symbiotes are traditionally depicted.
It still remains unknown just what exactly Gorr is wielding, but it must have some connection to what’s beneath the figure. The only details we have on his weapon are from the back of Marvel Legends figure for the character only describing it as “A strange and terrifying weapon.” It’s entirely possible that Marvel and Sony have worked out a deal to allow for the story of the symbiotes, continuing on their multiversal story begun in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw a piece of a symbiote left in the MCU. Could Gorr be working with something similar? We may not have answers until Thor: Loveand Thunder hits theaters on July 8th!
Marvel Studios has fatigued its way to another winner, as Thor: Love and Thunder managed to pull in 209M views within just 24 hours. That is quite an impressive accomplishment considering this is the fourth entry in the Thor franchise with only the two latest Avenger films and Spider-Man: No Way Home ahead of it. It was already quite impressive when No Way Home pulled in the most viewers within recording time with 355.5M while Avengers: Endgame stood at 289M.
The last pre-pandemic film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, managed to pull in a billion at the box office with around 135M views within the first 24-hours. So, Love and Thunder is going in strong, especially with how late the trailer was released when compared to other titles. The film holds the record for the shortest time between the initial teaser trailer release and its eventual premiere in theaters, which will be in July.
Thor exercising to get back into shape after Endgame is a great touch as the showcase of this record. The fact the trailer took as long as it did to release might’ve played a key factor in its success, as many were questioning if it might arrive at all. Plus, the arrival of Mighty Thor was also something that pulled people’s attention in, as many were excited to find out just how we might meet her and the various merchandise built up quite a bit of momentum. Who knows how strong the pull might be once we get our first look at Christian Bale‘s Gorr the God Butcher.
Back in 2004, the gaming world would change as we know it with the release of the MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The game has been supported by Blizzard since its launch with new expansions every few years to expand the lore of the game and allow players to continue onwards with their characters. Just two years ago we saw the release of Shadowlands, the expansion that had players travel into the afterlife to face Sylvanas Windrunner and the Jailer, as that storyline wraps up another is already on the way.
In a Livestream reveal event, the folks at Blizzard revealed the ninth expansion for the game, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. It will see the Dragon Isles revealed after being hidden away for over 10,000 years ago. The expansion will allow players to travel to the ancestral home of the dragonflights, the Dragon Isles, and explore the lands with each island connected to one of the dragon aspects.
Dragonflight will introduce a new race to the game with the Dracthyr. They will be a Worgen-like race with the ability to change between a dragon form and a more humanoid form. Players will be able to choose their allegiance similar to the Pandaren. The race will be quite unique compared to others, only being able to be one class, the evoker. The evoker is a class that will allow players to be mid-range fighters or play as a healer.
The expansion will also introduce a unique mount experience where each player will be able to obtain a Dragon, which you can customize and become more skilled in maneuvers as you continue hunting down glyphs to improve your skills.
Dragonflight will also bring an overhaul to previously existing systems within the game like the talent system, professors, and a new HUD interface. Players will be able to gain talent points and use them to level up within two different talent trees, one that offers utility skills for your class and another that offers abilities that will strengthen your offensive and healing powers.
It’s not a new expansion without an all-new level cap, with players now able to reach level 70. Along with the level cap comes brand-new dungeons like Neltharus, unknown chambers of Uldaman, and the life pools of the Red Dragonflight. They will be joined by a brand new raid, where players can explore the prison of the primal incarnates, where they’ll have to stop them before they can be unleashed against the dragon aspects.
Blizzard has opened up a beta-opt-in for those who are interested in testing out the new expansion. No release date has been set for Dragonflight just yet.
Episode 3, “The Friendly Type”, really moved things along in the overall plot, including Arthur using the scarab to lead him to the site of Ammut’s tomb. At the behest of Khonshu, Marc tries to get the Ennead, a group of major Egyptian gods, to intervene with what Arthur is trying to do, but Arthur lies to them, leading the Ennead to warn Khonshu not to interfere further. To find the coordinates of the tomb, Khonshu turns back the sky to the night they locked Ammut away, angering the Ennead. As the episode ends, Khonshu is imprisoned, leaving Marc/Steven without his power.
Marc and Steven get way more comfortable with each other over the course of this episode, even willingly letting each other take over the body when it seems to serve them best. The episode also presents the clearest evidence that there might be a third personality within Marc’s mind. While interrogating a group of men, Marc is knocked out when Steven interferes with the questioning. When he wakes up, he’s in the middle of stabbing one of the men while another lies dead behind him. When Marc asks Steven what he’s done, he claims not to have done it either. In the comics there is another, more violent, personality named Jake. This could totally be his doing!
Arlyn’s Assumptions
In this next episode, I believe that they will end up finding Ammut’s tomb too late. I feel like Arthur will have already found it and dug it up. The other Egyptian gods have locked Khonshu away, which will obviously have a big impact on Marc and Steven seeing that Marc was just a corpse when Khonshu found him. I’m not sure how Marc survives. I have a bad feeling about this…
It looks like Skydance is going to be quite busy, as the studio that was founded in 2019 by Amy Hennig, one of the masterminds behind the Uncharted series, is now seemingly also working on a new Star Wars project. It’s not the first time she was involved with a game from that franchise, such as Visceral Games’ sadly canceled project some time ago. Now, she’s involved with a “richly cinematic action-adventure game” with a promising original story. Hennig gave the following statement on working on a game that takes place in a franchise she grew up with.
I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly. I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.

We’re still waiting for an update on their Marvel game, but there have been hints that the studio has been fully on board to rival other AAA studios. We did get the hint that Marc Bernardin is one of the writers for the Marvel game, and it’s unsure how early in development the Star Wars project might be at this point. So, we might have to wait a while before we get any update on what exactly the project entails. Still, it’s always exciting to see these projects start development, and here’s hoping that we get some hints in the near future.
While everyone was excited about Ewan McGregor‘s return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the upcoming Disney+ series, many were caught off-guard when it was revealed that he’ll also be joined by Hayden Christensen. Not only that but shortly after it was confirmed that he’ll also return in the Ahsoka series as well. So, it’s a grand return for the actor that played Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogies. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, he revealed how he prepared for the role after 17 years.
It seems he really did his homework as the actor revisited not only all the films but also watched The Clone Wars and Rebels animated series, which were quite important to develop his character even after he hung up the mantle. Perhaps it also was what inspired him to join Ahsoka to get involved with the story introduced in the animated series.
I went back and rewatched all the films,” says the man who will be once again going behind the mask as Darth Vader. “And I also got into the animated shows, The Clone Wars and Rebels.
Hayden Christensen
It’s great to see his commitment not only to bringing this franchise to life but generally how much work he’s put in to prepare for his return. We have been teased that he’ll be in the series as Darth Vader, but there’s always a chance that they might use flashbacks to also revisit scenes between Anakin and his former master. Perhaps Ahsoka Tano even gets a cameo in the upcoming series.
It’s been quite the wait, but the latest development update by Marvel#s Avengers has given us quite the surprise. It has been rumored for a bit, but the announcement has finally arrived that the next character joining the project will end up being Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor. We even got our first look at the character, which sadly only gives us a glimpse at her upcoming design.
She won’t be part of the upcoming patch 2.4, which will release sometime in May but is the main focus of 2.5. She’ll also wield Mjolnir and have some common abilities like the current version of Thor but still have some distinct elements to make her stand out. They will offer a better look at the character and more details soon.
In regards to update 2.4, it’ll be a way to help solo players to grind to higher levels. Events will get reworked in a way that adds new goals for players and helps with the newly improved game loop from 2.3. So, Crystal Dynamics has put in a lot of work in the current model to ease in new players while also ensuring future updates will have more to offer for players.
So, those looking for ways to grind and don’t want to be dependent on multiplayer options with Omega-Level Threats or Raids now have an option. While there was still quite a wait for their latest playable character, it’s still great to see the game getting continued support from its developer.
It’s not uncommon for big blockbuster films to get tie-in ads nowadays, as a way to not only promote the film but also a way for brands to get some attention. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seemingly has one with Tide, where Wong is on the hunt for Strange’s Levitation cape after spilling his Tuna Melt on it. Yet, what stands out is actually the small inclusion that fans of Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man might quite enjoy.
If you look closely, you can see a food truck with the name “Joe’s Pizza Parlor.” Fans of Spider-Man 2 might instantly recognize that as the place where Peter worked while trying to balance his time as a web-slinging vigilante. Its inclusion is a great little detail and hopefully means we might get a few Spider-Man references in the upcoming film with Raimi in the director’s chair.
Bruce Campbell joined the project in an unknown role. So, we might definitely expect some fun references to his other projects like Evil Dead, especially with the horror vibes. Now that Tobey Maguire returned to the role of Spider-Man, there have been theories that perhaps he even returns in the upcoming film, especially with Raimi in the directing chair. It seems like the perfect opportunity to have them reunite. Of course, the multiverse is vast and who knows what direction the director took with the project, as there are many more opportunities in how they approach the project. We’ll still have to wait just a little longer before we can watch it.
