  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Synopsis Teases Thor’s Quest to Stop Gorr

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Synopsis Teases Thor’s Quest to Stop Gorr

We’ve been dissecting the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer ever since it dropped, but there’s still a bit more to this reveal. Marvel has shared the trailer on their official website alongside our first full synopsis for the upcoming film. What stands out is that it mostly highlights what was showcased in the trailer but also hints at how exactly Thor will end up crossing paths with Christian Bale‘s Gorr. It seems that his search for peace might face a quick end and hints that what we saw in the trailer might likely be most of the opening.

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced — a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who — to Thor’s surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Teases Gorr’s Arrival With a Comic Reference

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Teases Gorr’s Arrival With a Comic Reference

After many discussions on what exactly happened to it, the first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has arrived. Surprisingly, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher is noticeably absent in the first teaser. We did get our first look through a toy leak that showed he was quite a departure from the comics, but it seems like they’ll still take some inspiration from the original Thor run that introduced the character.

Comic Book’s @adambarndhardt was the first to notice a great detail that fans of the original comic run might love. For those that don’t know, the beast that has seemingly been slain in the snow is Falligar, The Behemoth and we see his dead body in the comic panel from Thor #3. He was a patron god of the galactic frontier that was found dead as Thor traveled the galaxy. What sets the fear in the God of Thunder is that the beast was able to wrestle black holes and was the champion of the Tournament of Immortals. He even was a friend of his, which might also come to play in the film.

Here’s a good look at the entire panel this scene is inspired by:

His apparent death might also be our first real indicator of the horrors and destruction that Gorr will leave in his wake. He isn’t called the God Butcher for no reason, and it seems that they will stick quite closely to that. The fact we even got a one-to-one adaptation of an iconic comic panel is such a great touch, as it’s hard to beat out the visual of the original and shows director Taika Waititi’s love for the comic series that inspired his upcoming story. It’ll be interesting if future trailers will continue to keep him a secret.

  • Thor Wears His Original Comic Costume in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer

Thor Wears His Original Comic Costume in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer

The trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder just keeps on giving, as we’ve already looked for a few iconic elements that we can expect from the upcoming July release. Not only did we see Natalie Portman’s first appearance as Mighty Thor, but even a tease of Russell Crowe’s Zeus, which he teased a long time ago was going to be in the film. After rewatching the trailer one more time, there’s another cute Easter egg hidden in the opening of the trailer.

As we see a young Thor running and aging up in his pursuit, we briefly get a younger version of Thor in a comic-accurate costume. Not only does he have his winged helmet, which he swiftly dropped after briefly wearing it in the first Thor film, he even has the blacktop with the breastplates. He also has his yellow bandages wrapped around his leg going out of his yellow boots. So, it’s pretty close to the original Jack Kirby design.

It’s unclear what exactly is even going on in this opening,a sit seems like he is jogging through a park turning into his older version. We see that a lot of this film will be about Thor trying to figure out what to do with himself, it may be part of an internal journey that he goes through. Who knows if his eventual conflict with Gorr might also force him to reflect on his past. Whatever it may be, it’s great to see the inclusion of such comic costumes.

  • ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Offers First Look at Zeus and the Olympians

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Offers First Look at Zeus and the Olympians

Well, after a long wait the first trailer has finally dropped for Thor: Love and Thunder. While the big takeaway is our first look at Natalie Portman‘s return to the franchise in the form of Mighty Thor, it also gave us one more surprise. In the middle of the trailer, we see someone catch what seems like a metal lightning bolt, only for the trailer to pull out and reveal that what we are seeing is the Greek god Zeus. Not just that, but we even get various teases of the Olympus and the many gods that reside there.

While it’s our first look and may catch many off-guard, Russell Crowe accidentally just revealed who he was playing back in April of 2021 in an interview. So, it’s very likely they are still trying to keep him a secret, but going by his own statements that are likely him in the role of ruling over the Olympians. It’ll be interesting to see if he has any interactions with Thor, as both are thunder-based gods before Gorr arrives.

The overall design of Olympus looks impressive and there are some great touches here. The characters surrounding Thor are wearing traditional Greek clothing that one would expect from the gods, and it seems like they are still stuck in time. In the trailer, we even see a statue of Zeus. So, he might be quite full of himself. Thor and Korg are spotted in the trailer on this planet, if it is one, as well. So, they might arrive to warn them only for Gorr to follow shortly after. Whatever that might be, it might be the only time we see this pantheon on screen.

  • First ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Finally Drops Alongside First Look at Mighty Thor

First ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Trailer Finally Drops Alongside First Look at Mighty Thor

It seems like a fever dream, but the moment has finally arrived. We got our first look at Thor: Love and Thunder as the first trailer has dropped. It certainly promised a rather different take on not only a Marvel film but especially what we expect from Thor at this point. Director Taika Waititi certainly is leaving his imprint on the franchise once again that is heading in new directions. At the tail end of the trailer, we also finally get our first real look at Jane Foster’s return as Mighty Thor.

We get a brief glimpse of the revived Mjolnir in the middle of a battle and our first full look at her design, which still looks great. Surprising though is that her eyes are being shown, as some of the promotional material was hiding it with lightning effect making us believe the film would do the same. Yet, it looks like that may just be when she activates her powers similar to Thor.

    Image

The framing is a bit curious, but it’s still great that the trailer ends with our first full look at Portman‘s grand return. We also see more of Mjolnir, which has certainly seen better days as it’s put together from the cracked remnants after Hela got her hands on it. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what the future has in store, but we might expect a second trailer once the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel hits theaters next month.

  • Netflix Teases a Live-Action ‘One Piece’ Update in June

Netflix Teases a Live-Action ‘One Piece’ Update in June

Well, it looks like those that are actively following the development of Netflix’s live-action One Piece series have something to be excited about. Netflix Geeked has just announced that from June 6th until the 10th they will be holding Geeked Week for 2022 with lots of announcements, sneak peeks, and trailers for their upcoming projects. Now, eagle-eyed fans might swiftly notice one rather big detail added into the fray.

The visual shared by Netflix Geeked has one creative detail right next to the date and that is pretty clearly the manga design of the Going Merry. So, it’s safe to assume that we might get something out of the event teasing the live-action adaptation and we may get some kind of preview from behind the scenes. It seems unlikely we’ll get a full trailer of some kind, but they could add a teaser or first look at the cast.

There’s been a lot of excitement about whatever direction the series is going to take, especially as we’re seeing quite a few set photos teasing the massive sets that they are working on. Just yesterday, we got a good look at Shank’s ship, the Red Force, as it is parked in Windmill Village. We even got a glimpse of them filming something on top of the Merry, which got quite the updated design. Its inclusion is definitely on purpose, as there are also teases for Umbrella Academy, the new Resident Evil series, and more. Still, here’s we also get some teases as we near Geeked Week.

  • Matt Reeves Confirms Newly Spotted Riddler Easter Egg

Matt Reeves Confirms Newly Spotted Riddler Easter Egg

The Batman has found its way to HBO Max and with it, eagle-eyed fans have been on the hunt for any possible Easter egg they may have potentially missed out on while watching it in theaters. One that stood out is that people noticed that Paul Dano‘s Riddler can be spotted living opposite the Iceberg Lunge at the half-hour mark. Considering the ending, this would be quite the giveaway if people noticed early but it’s hard to truly make out.

Luckily, director Matt Reeves took to Twitter to confirm that this is in fact Riddler in that apartment. It sticks out that it’s the only room highlighted with someone looking out the window. The fact the film includes hints at some later revelations is a great eye for detail from the director and his creative team.

ho knows what other hints and secrets the film is hiding. The Riddler has not only left a lot of clues for Bruce Wayne, but it seems Reeves did the same with his movie. So, with its arrival on HBO Max, we’ll surely see what other secrets might find their way online now that they can easily skim it for any detail possible.

  • New ‘Squirrel Girl’ Podcast Series to Continue Ryan North’s ‘The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl’ Run

New ‘Squirrel Girl’ Podcast Series to Continue Ryan North’s ‘The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl’ Run

It looks like Marvel is working on a new scripted podcast series, as Variety has just announced that Squirrel Girl is getting her own series which will act as a direct continuation with Ryan North. It’ll be titled Marvel’s Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show with Milana Vayntrub taking on the role of Doreen Green. The actress is known for her work on the AT&T ad series and was cast for the role in the original New Warriors pilot that never picked up. She shared her enthusiasm on reprising the role and what the character means to her in an interview with Variety.

Doreen has an optimism that’s not based in naiveté. Her optimism is grounded in fairness and trust and justice. I think she — like me and in a way, she’s more of who I want to be like — really believes there is good in all people and that justice is not punishment, but justice is restorative and it’s about people taking accountability and it’s becoming better versions of themselves. People do harm because they are lacking in resources or in love in some way. And she is hilarious because of her honesty and her bluntness and her ability to see the best in people. It’s more of who I want to be like, and I feel like, after a few hours of playing her, I like channel her and then can bring that into my life.

North is set to write the series and will continue his four-year run of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. He aims to continue the optimistic energy that the character had in that run. He does highlight that they made some changes to continuity to ensure that new listeners can jump into the SiriusXM podcast series. It’ll run for six episodes and is already available for those interested in checking it out:

  • New ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Merch Offers a Close-Up of Restored Mjonlir

New ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Merch Offers a Close-Up of Restored Mjonlir

There’s still no sight of that Thor: Love and Thunder trailer, but more merchandise has started to find its way online. Just recently, we got a look at a mug that hinted at how New Asgard is thriving after its demise in Thor: Ragnarok. They seemingly even have their own sports team at this point. Now, a new piece of merchandise for Thor: Love and Thunder offers another new look at an important part of the upcoming film, the restored Mjolnir.

After Hela famously destroyed it in Ragnarok, many wondered how exactly it may make its return in the sequel. Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster will wield the hammer. The first images did hint that it was held together somehow after being broken apart, but the new collector’s item from the Legends Series offers our closest look yet.

Image 1 - Hasbro Marvel Legends Series Thor 4 Love & Thunder Mjolnir Electronic Hammer

It certainly looks like the version of the hammer that was destroyed rather than something from the multiverse, as some theorized. The glowing parts would hint that perhaps the power of Thor is still being held within the hammer and has led to its reforming. Perhaps an event will make the hammer, which may still have the curse from Odin in the first Thor film, chose a successor after reforming. Whatever it may be, it’s also a great new design for the hammer.

  • RUMOR: Werewolf By Night Will Be Practical in Upcoming Disney+ Halloween Special

RUMOR: Werewolf By Night Will Be Practical in Upcoming Disney+ Halloween Special

The supernatural corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slowly beginning to unravel with characters like Werewolf By Night on the horizon. The character is set to make his live-action debut in an upcoming Halloween special for Disney+ that started production not too long ago. Although the special has yet to be officially confirmed by Marvel Studios, we know it’s happening and that it’s already filming.

While we still don’t know a whole lot plot-wise for the upcoming special we know that Werewolf By Night will lead the project with hints that Vampire By Night might be popping up as well. It seems some internet sleuthing by the folks over at AfterHoursMedia led to them discovering some interesting evidence that Werewolf By Night will be a practical design. They’ve uncovered that some make-up artists behind the popular Halloween Horror Nights event at the Universal theme parks is working on the project.

They’ve discovered tweets from crew members supposedly working on the project saying “working on a certain Halloween special for a certain streaming platform” and shared a message he sent via text saying “I have a stunt performer who is in full werewolf makeup.”. They also shared that while things onset will be practical, things could be touched up in post-production with CGI similar to what they do on The Witcher with a lot of their monsters.

We still don’t have a release date or any official confirmation for the upcoming Halloween special but it sure is something exciting to look forward to. This will be the first of two holiday specials this year, with the Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday Special releasing sometime in December.
