Stellan Skarsgard Confirms ‘Andor’ Season 2

Well, this is an exciting reveal, as actor Stellan Skarsgard has revealed that the Star Wars Disney+ series Andor will get a second season. During an interview with DN.SE, the actor confirmed not only that there is a second season planned but they’ve already set a production start time sometime this fall. He states that:

We start with ‘Dune 2’ in July. And then in the autumn, it’s time for the second season of the Star Wars series ‘Andor.

    Stellan Skarsgard

It looks like Skarsgard has a busy year ahead of him, and it’s interesting that they have already set the production start in fall. We still know very little about the series and how it will explore the early days of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor before he meets up with Jyn Erso.

We also don’t know how it might connect to the larger Star Wars universe, as from all the projects so far, but that didn’t stop Luna from teasing that we might see some “familiar faces” in the series. It’ll take place during the reign of the Empire. So, we could see characters like Han Solo or Obi-Wan Kenobi appear in some capacity. Of course, it may also be Lucasfilm’s first attempt at telling a more self-contained story. We’ll have to wait as the first season of Andor is rumored to release later this year.

  • Disney Latino Hints at a New ‘Moon Knight’ Ability in the Disney+ Series

Disney Latino Hints at a New ‘Moon Knight’ Ability in the Disney+ Series

Disney Latino released a page discussing Moon Knight’s origin and abilities in the upcoming Disney+ series. It included a reference to his abilities that change depending on the moon cycle but included a reference to something that might be new to even comic readers. In the article, there’s a reference to the Fist of Khonshu having the ability to have “prophetic visions about future events.”

It’s certainly a curious addition, but there’s a chance that the “visions” are tied directly to his multiple personality disorder. Perhaps the show will use this concept to play with us and Steven, who is unsure about who he truly is. The first trailer teased that his reality is falling apart, especially as he uncovers his actual background as the mercenary Marc Spector.

If he has the ability to see the future, it makes you wonder if they tease his main antagonist and end of the series throughout its runtime. We could even get a post-credit sequence of a vision that hints at where we’ll see Oscar Isaac again after his time on the Disney+ series.

  • REVIEW: Onigashima Continues to Burn in ‘One Piece’ 1038

REVIEW: Onigashima Continues to Burn in ‘One Piece’ 1038

It’s just showdown after showdown in the Onigashima raid, which is still not even close to leaving steam. The latest chapter included some great small moments as we take a short break from Kaido and Luffy’s showdown. One Piece‘s chapter 1038 gives us a vignette of where everyone else currently is while catching back up with Kid and Law’s battle with Big Mom, who isn’t going to go down that easily.

The cover story this time is quite surprising as it seems Niji and Yonji of Germa 66 have been caught by the Big Mom Pirates. So, either they might return to free them, or Sanji gets a chance to save his family once again in the near future, but mostly cause it’s hard to believe that his father would go back and save his sons. Yet, who knows if he had a bit of a change of heart after the events from the Whole Cake Arc.

It’s great to see Jimbei back, as he mostly took a backseat since his confrontation with Who’s Who. His saving of the samurai was a great moment, as we also see that the spreading flames have wrecked the entire place. Even Chopper gets to return as his super tiny form has expired and he returned to normal. It’s sweet to see him instantly care about Zoro, who is going through something of his own.

Speaking of, what in the world is Eiichiro Oda doing playing with our hearts? It’s so strange to see the freaking Grim Reaper stand above him right after Chopper discusses the pain he’ll go through. Though the arms and close-up of the face make me think this is a fake-out and it’s probably Brook. How he got his hands on a scythe is a different story, but it seems like the most logical reason the literal embodiment of death appears here. Luckily, Franky is on his way to help.

Izo has been taking quite the beating to give Usopp enough time to get the Red Scabbards away from the battlefield. The interesting aspect is the confrontation with CP0, which probably won’t end well given that the Beast Pirates have pushed him to his limits. It doe make you wonder if an eventual confrontation between the secret organization and the Straw Hats. Going by the direction they are heading, it seems they might end up catching up with Usopp.

I am always excited to see Yamato – who I still hope joins the crew – and it’s great to see her showcase her abilities. It still seems like a shame how little we saw of her fight against Kaido. She’s also a perfect counter to the flaming ball of vengeance, as she just made it in time to keep it from blowing the whole island up. I am curious just how Yamato might manage to get it away from the explosives and weapons, as it’s very unlikely the island will just blow up.

Now, it’s finally time to talk about Big Mom’s battle against Kid and Law. It’s not going so great for them, as she seemingly towers over them and mocks the young pirates. It almost looks like the two might have met their match, but she is certainly pushing beyond her limits. Her main goal is to return to Kaido’s side adds a nice level of urgency to this fight, especially as Law continues to keep the fighting going.

We once again get the return of his Awakening through Kroom, which offers a clearer picture of what it can do. The fact he can warp the reality of an object adds quite a curious element to his ability, especially how his sword goes through Mom without actually cutting through her. Perhaps this ability is deeply connected to the fruit’s famous ability to give someone immortality. Kid also makes a grand effort by pulling in all the metal around him to create a giant raging bull, as both proclaim she will not get to the roof.

The title was surprisingly misleading as Zoro and Sanji’s “vs.” chapter titles ended with the defeat of their enemy but seems Oda decided to mix things up this time around. Even after their defeat, they are continuing to push forward which is quite exhilarating and makes me curious what the next chapter has in store for us, as we might enter the final stage of this battle after all.

  • DC Celebrates Lunar New Year With New Posters for ‘The Batman’, ‘The Flash’, And More

DC Celebrates Lunar New Year With New Posters for ‘The Batman’, ‘The Flash’, And More

The new Lunar New Year has arrived and DC released a set of new posters to celebrate the occasion, which includes all their upcoming projects from The Batman to League of Superpets. It includes the fan-favorite heroes with some added fun spin to celebrate the new occasion. The first poster includes the upcoming release of The Batman with Robert Pattinson throwing coins instead of his classic Batarangs.

There’s also a poster for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom with the ruler of Atlantis surrounded by koi.

    Aquaman 2 Poster

Barry Allen is known for eating as much as he can due to all the calories he burns while running at superspeed. So, The Flash poster is fittingly featuring Allen with some snacks.

    The Flash, The Flash logo

Dwayne Johnson is ready for a celebration in the new poster, which is curiously the most detached from the upcoming film’s design. Or, he might have hair at some point in the story.

    Black Adam, Black Adam logo

Last, but not least, is the League of Superpets featuring Krypto. It’s curious that it only includes him and not the rest of the cast, but the trailer has been highlighting

    Krypto

The posters are great, and it seems like a yearly tradition to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a set of new posters. We’ve seen Marvel Studios do something similar last year for Eternals and Black Widow. The integration of traditional Chinese elements is a nice touch.

  • FIRST LOOK: New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Merch Hints at Classic Comic Design

FIRST LOOK: New ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Merch Hints at Classic Comic Design

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is just a few more months away, as Marvel Studios has been busy getting their merchandise out for the upcoming film. We’ve seen a strong focus on the film’s upcoming supporting cast and the tease of the many Strange variants we’ll see in the film. One of them is even strongly inspired by the Defender run of the character. A new piece of merchandise may have revealed another classic comic costume.

A new line from the Titan Hero Series Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch. What stands out is that Strange’s design includes a very familiar blue design that fans of Greg Pak and Emma RíosDoctor Strange: Season One might be familiar with:

For those not familiar, Doctor Strange: Season One was a retelling of the iconic character’s origins. Pak and Ríos gave new life to help new readers catch up on the Sorcerer Supreme’s early beginnings. The cover art featured a blue design that seems to be an inspiration for the upcoming film’s take on the character.

It’s great to see the films pull in more designs from the comics, and it’s certainly a deep cut to pull from. There’s still a chance that the version in this merchandise isn’t the one we’ve been following since the first Doctor Strange film, as we already know it’ll feature a variety of Variants. So, we’ll see if we get a better look once the next trailer releases.

  • Dakota Johnson May Have Confirmed Joining the ‘Madame Web’ Film

Dakota Johnson May Have Confirmed Joining the ‘Madame Web’ Film

We were all scratching our heads when it was announced that Sony is eyeing Dakota Johnson to join a Spider-Man spinoff film based on Madame Web. Not only is the character commonly depicted as an elderly lady, but she is also a minor supporting character that doesn’t have much of a story to explore. Of course, her involvement wasn’t confirmed yet at the time, but it seems in a now-deleted Instagram Story, Johnson may have confirmed she joined the project, as shared by @dakotaj_updates.

The Story doesn’t include much, but the use of a web emoji with a dark background. Given the timing with the announcement that she is currently is in talks for the role, it seems like a pretty clear indication of why she shared it. We’ve seen actors tease their involvement in the past as a way to confirm the talks or even hint that they’ve already joined the project.

It’s unclear exactly what they are trying to do with the character, as Madame Web’s limited role in the comics doesn’t quite lend itself to a solo project. So, they might take this chance to write a story around her as she is simply the person pulling the strings. Perhaps they aim to bring back Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire to potentially star in another multiverse-focused storyline with Web requiring their assistance. It would be the perfect way to build upon No Way Home‘s storyline.

  • ‘Jackass Forever’ to Beat Out ‘Moonfall’ in its Domestic Opening Weekend

‘Jackass Forever’ to Beat Out ‘Moonfall’ in its Domestic Opening Weekend

Who knew a $10M film would easily beat out a $146M disaster movie at the box office. The numbers are in that hint that the return of the popular reality TV series in film format, Jackass Forever, is moving towards a strong $20M+ opening weekend while Roland Emmerich‘s Moonfall is closer to the $9M+. The disaster film was originally meant for a pre-pandemic audience but as these films have a stronger international showing, it might face quite an uphill battle.

Jackass, as pointed out in the Deadline article, was the original template that kickstarted the modern era of YouTube, Tiktok, and the rest of content creator-driven content. So, Paramount probably wanted to fully bank on its influence on modern pop culture, as well as the nostalgia surrounding the project. It’ll be interesting to see how strong the film might continue to perform. It got a B+ CinemaScore like its previous entries.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was finally pushed into the third spot after regaining the box office from Scream’s short-lived dominance. It doesn’t seem like it’ll pull the same thing again, and Jackass is likely to continue to keep that top spot, but the film has now become the third highest stateside release of all time. There’s still some time before The Batman hits theaters and we’ll see how it influences the box office.

  • RUMOR: High Republic-Set ‘Star Wars’ Series in Development at Disney Plus

RUMOR: High Republic-Set ‘Star Wars’ Series in Development at Disney Plus

As the most recent Star Wars streaming series, The Book of Boba Fett, nears the end of its run, a new rumor has emerged about another property being developed for Disney Plus by Lucasfilm. According to a report from Cinelinx’s Jordan Maison, work is underway on a live-action series set during the High Republic era.

Set 200 years or so before the Battle of Yavin, the High Republic is an era in which the Jedi were at their peak and the galaxy existed, more or less, in peace. Stories of the High Republic have been told mostly through a series of novels and comic books, including an ongoing series published by Marvel Comics, but now it seems that Lucasfilm is ready to take the next step and introduce the era to consumers through a streaming series.

According to Maison, the series has been described as “Stranger Things in space” and will focus on a younger group of core characters. Whether or not any of those younger characters will be lifted from the pages of the books and/or comics remains to be seen, but Maison did report that it is expected that one of the writers associated with the publishing side of things will assist with the development of the story.

Lucasfilm is about to begin production on its next two streaming series, Ahsoka and The Acolyte, with the latter rumored to be set near the end of The High Republic Era. With, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett set during the New Republic Era, Star Wars fans are in for a treat as the High Republic era stories will introduce them to a whole new cast of characters set in the galaxy far, far away.

  • ‘All of Us Are Dead’ Hits #1 on Netflix

‘All of Us Are Dead’ Hits #1 on Netflix

A week after its release, All of Us Are Dead has hit a new milestone on Netflix.

The Korean zombie drama has hit the top spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list. This marks the second Korean drama to do so as Squid Game took over the streamer’s Top 10 for weeks after its release, quickly becoming its most-watched original series ever. With Squid Game and All of Us Are Dead, Korea is now the first country to place multiple non-English language series atop Netflix’s U.S. daily Top 10.

All of Us Are Dead tells the story of a zombie outbreak at a Korean high school. As the virus overtakes the city — and the school — the students find themselves desperately trying to survive the chaos. The series debuted on Netflix on Jan. 28th, taking exactly seven days to hit the top spot on Netflix’s Top 10. For comparison, that is three days behind Squid Game, which remains one of the streaming giant’s biggest titles to date.

As it stands, a second season has not yet been ordered, although the ending of Season 1 does suggest a second season will follow.

All of Us Are Dead is now streaming on Netflix. You can read our review here if you’re still unsure whether or not this zombie drama is worth a watch!
