Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Revealed First Details on Upcoming Hawkeye DLC

Right after the announcement that Clint Barton would finally get a Deep Dive next month, Crystal Dynamics had their latest developer stream. Of course, they couldn’t reveal anything major, but the team did use this chance to interact with the community. Not just that, they were even able to tease something about Hawkeye’s unique abilities. So, without wasting any time, let’s jump right into the latest developer stream recap:

    • CD revealed two types of arrows that include Pulsar and Tripwire. Pulsar Arrows stick to surfaces before they can explode remotely. In contrast, tripwire arrows consist of three elements that trigger when enemies get too close.
    • showcase stream will follow the Deep Dive. It will showcase how he and Kate are unique from each other. Her mentor has a different way of swinging his sword and heroics to make him stand out.
    • The next-gen update will include faster load times and unique haptic feedback for every hero. CD also teased the release date for the upcoming War Table video.

    • They asked the chat what enemy factions they would like to see. HYDRA was the top choice but also some surprising inquiries for Ultron bots. It surprised them as they know that people are tired of those robots.
    • Sadly, there was no update on Cloning Labs or Super Adaptoid.
    • The power rating and difficulty bug got fixed some time ago. It is currently only a UI issue.

It was great that they were able to reveal something about Clint. The arrows sound like a lot of fun to use. He might be more focused on trapping enemies throughout the map. It certainly adds an interesting new twist. They did confirm that he will have a completely new toolset that will set him apart from his protégé. It was quite a lot of love for HYDRA as a new enemy faction. I would love to see some dinosaurs from the Savage Lands or even ULTIMATUM getting the focus in the future. There is a lot to draw from, so if the Watchdogs can make it, why not?

Also, a big shout-out to @Sonicphoto and @CalexStreams for working together on collecting all the tidbits from the stream.

  • 6 Forgotten MCU Characters Who Could Appear in ‘WANDAVISION

6 Forgotten MCU Characters Who Could Appear in ‘WANDAVISION

In case you weren’t aware, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is quite big. Since its modest inception in 2008, the franchise has grown to include a seemingly endless list of names and faces as part of it’s character roster. One might think this would make it easier for incoming writers to pick and choose who they want to play a role in their story, but a recent Digital Spy interview with WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer has confirmed that isn’t exactly the case. Schaeffer, who also worked as a writer and producer on the series, revealed that Marvel Studios does not allow “free rein” on which characters a writer can use in their project, and instead supplied her with a larger list of “suggested” names to implement in her plot. This strategy definitely makes more sense than some might give it credit for, considering the MCU would probably fall apart pretty quickly if every film and series were allowed to have Iron Man or Captain America as part of the cast.

Luckily for the showrunner, she was able to use everyone she wanted, even managing to bring back Randall Park and Kat Dennings as Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis, respectively. The revelation that Marvel has a list of characters not currently planned for use sheds new light on comments made by Marvel boss Kevin Feige over a year ago, when he told viewers of a Reddit AMA that he enjoys bringing back characters some may have previously thought forgotten. The unexpected return of Darcy and Woo seemed to prove that concept, with the former not having been mentioned since 2014’s Thor: The Dark World and the latter feeling like a one-off reference in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, but Feige took it all a step further when he shocked fans with the Investor Day announcement of Tim Roth reprising his role as the Abomination for Marvel’s upcoming She-Hulk series. The actor hadn’t appeared since his debut in the role in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, a film often thought of as the MCU’s red-headed step-child. Now that it feels like any return may be possible, let’s take a look at a few other “forgotten” characters that could make their grand re-entry in WandaVision, or beyond:

    Dr. Helen Cho

Wait, who?: Appearing only once before in Avengers: Age of Ultron (played by Claudia Kim), the good Dr. Cho is presented as one of the world’s leading geneticists, head of the U-GIN Research Group, and a friend of Dr. Bruce Banner. Normally based in her home country of South Korea, Dr. Cho traveled to Avengers Tower in New York City to help patch up an injured Clint Barton, and had multiple close-up encounters with the villainous Ultron. The robotic menace even used Loki’s scepter to manipulate her into helping him create a new body, until Wanda severed his hold and Dr. Cho heroically put a stop to the upgrade.

Why WandaVision? From what we know so far, it seems the creation of S.W.O.R.D. involved recruiting some top names from other organizations. Jimmy Woo seems to have transferred from his position at the FBI, and Darcy Lewis has apparently graduated from her political science program at Culver University. Therefore, it stands to reason that the new government agency may reach out to the world’s leading brain in genetics, especially with all that potential to study alien life. If nothing else, with the current situation happening in Westview and the mysterious reappearence of the previously dead Vision, the organization might want to speak with the woman who was directly involved with Vision’s creation in the first place.

If not WandaVision, where?: If Marvel were to bring Helen Cho back anywhere other than WandaVision, it would make sense to do it in She-Hulk. Dr. Cho is a friend of Bruce Banner, after all, and he may need her help again when his cousin requires an experimental blood transfusion. It also doesn’t hurt that Cho’s son in the comics, Amadeus, is a genius sidekick with strong ties to the Hulk mythos.

    Mitchell Carson

Wait, who?: Introduced in Ant-Man as the former Head of Defense at S.H.I.E.L.D. and one of the many enemies made by Hank Pym over the years, he was later revealed to be a secret agent of HYDRA, ousted off camera during the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. When Scott Lang infiltrated Pym Technologies to steal the Yellowjacket suit, he found Carson attempting to strike a deal with Darren Cross to purchase it for HYDRA. While that deal didn’t end up happening, Carson did manage to escape Pym Technologies during an ensuing scuffle with a vial of Pym Particles. Many expected this plot thread to be continued in the film’s sequel, but the dastardly agent hasn’t been seen in the MCU since.

Why WandaVision? We still don’t know who or what is behind whatever it is that’s happening to Wanda Maximoff, and while it seems unlikely, I wouldn’t completely rule out HYDRA from the mix. If the recurring group of baddies should make a return, it would make sense for them to use a familiar face for the big reveal. Perhaps Mitchell Carson and his stolen Pym Particles have played a role in the shenanigans in Westview?

If not WandaVision, where?: If actor Martin Donovan is ever to return to his role elsewhere, it would probably be the recently announced threequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, for obvious reasons.

    Justin Hammer

Wait, who?: C’mon, there’s no way you forgot about this guy. A fan-favorite character portrayed by the brilliant Sam Rockwell and perhaps the best part of Iron Man 2 (that’s subjective but it’s also not), Justin Hammer was the smooth-talking, stage-dancing business rival of Tony Stark, and one of the film’s main villains. Determined to get the best of Stark, he used the resources of his company, Hammer Industries, to break Anton Vanko out of prison and create the Hammer Drone army that laid waste to the 2010 Stark Expo. He also innovated the MK. II Iron Man armor to create the original design for War Machine, faulty as it may have been. Hammer was eventually sent to prison after his criminal activities were exposed by Natasha Romanoff and Pepper Potts, and we got a brief glimpse of his life there in 2014’s short film, All Hail the King.

Why WandaVision? If S.W.O.R.D. is anything like General Thunderbolt Ross, they may just attempt to blast their way through the mysterious wall surrounding Westview. This would not be a task that could be completed by ordinary weaponry, and with Tony Stark having recently passed away, they may have to turn to the prison consultations of one Mr. Hammer, weapon extraordinaire. However unlikely, one can dream, right?

If not WandaVision, where?: Although not confirmed, it seems incredibly likely that Rockwell will be back as Hammer for Armor Wars on DIsney+. The series will be based on the comic series of the same name, which features a far less agile Justin Hammer stealing Tony Stark’s technology and selling it to a wide array of iron-clad villains. While the adaptation may take a different approach, it would make more sense for them to use the character they already set up over a decade prior.

    Samuel Sterns

Wait, who?: Only appearing in The Incredible Hulk, Samuel Sterns was a cellular biologist at Grayburn College who contacted Edward Norton‘s Bruce Banner via online chat with a potential antidote for his unique green rage monster disease. This outreach, and a military raid, led Banner to come out of hiding in South America and return to New York to find Sterns, who was ultimately unable to rid Bruce of the Hulk. He was, however, revealed to have a very large blood collection and ended up being cornered into helping Emil Blonsky accelerate his transformation into the Abomination. The film’s ending included a cliffhanger in which some gamma-infected blood drips into a cut on Sterns’ head, which begins his journey towards becoming the big-brained comic book villain, The Leader. Unfortunately, the plot thread has never been addressed again.

Why WandaVision? The Leader is no stranger to crafting large domes to accomplish his goals, and with no villain yet revealed, maybe he’s behind this one as well? It’s been theorized that AIM, the sketchy science group founded by Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3, is responsible for the technology surrounding the town of Westview, and it wouldn’t be far fetched to say that a group so grounded in knowledge could use a Leader with a big head. With Abomination already confirmed to appear again in the MCU, it doesn’t seem like Incredible Hulk characters are off the table.

If not WandaVision, where?: The project that would make the most sense is clearly She-Hulk, which could be on track to reunite the classic comic book duo of Leader and the Abomination. However, one might not rule out an appearance in the tech-based Armor Wars, which again, still doesn’t have an announced villain. After all, why wouldn’t Marvel Studios want Tim Blake Nelson back as a fully-fledged villain?

    Betty Ross and Leonard Samson

Wait, who?: More Incredible Hulk characters, the former love interest of Bruce Banner and her former love interest, both doctors at Culver University. Betty Ross is the daughter of Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross and a former employee of Harvard, who worked on gamma radiation with Banner. The two fell in love, and she was present when his transformation to the Hulk first occurred. She was once the only person who could calm the Hulk down, and she aided Bruce in hiding from her father when he came back to NYC. Bruce left her behind when he realized he was too much of a danger for her safety, and she hasn’t made another appearance since. As for Samson, he become romantically involved with Betty during her and Bruce’s time apart. He didn’t do much else in the film, but in the comics, Samson finds himself evolving due to gamma exposure, and becomes known as the hero Doc Samson.

Why WandaVision?Much like my suggestion with Dr. Cho, it would make sense for S.W.O.R.D. to potentially recruit some of the American educational system’s top minds in their early days. After all, the organization hired former graduate Darcy Lewis. Besides, Ty Burrell would fit well into the episodes based on 2000’s era sitcoms.

If not WandaVision, where?: This is another She-Hulk situation, which Marvel may use to tie-up lose threads from the Incredible Hulk.

    Ian Boothby

Wait, who?: You didn’t think I’d forgotten about Ian, did you? Ian Boothby was Darcy Lewis’ unofficial official assistant in Thor: The Dark World. Doing her dirty work as assistant to the assistant manager, he ended the film by passionately kissing Darcy.

Why WandaVision? It could maybe be assumed that Darcy and Ian’s romance has ended by the time of WandaVision, but I’ve seen no proof of this. One can only hope they’re still happily together, and if that’s the case, there’s nothing stopping him from showing up to work to visit the love of his life (or even work for S.W.O.R.D. himself).

If not WandaVision, where?: I just shook a Magic 8 Ball, and it said “not likely”.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Hawkeye War Table Deep Dive Announced for February

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Hawkeye War Table Deep Dive Announced for February

We have been anxiously waiting for any sign of life for Marvel’s Avengers‘ next DLC character. Kate Bishop got released in the middle of December, so we’ve wondered when we can expect Clint Barton to join the team. Well, we don’t have a release date quite yet but a confirmation for the character’s official Deep Dive video. It looks like his inclusion in the latest newsletter was for a reason after all. The official Twitter channel for @PlayAvengers has officially released a new key art alongside the announcement. The next Deep Dive got slated for February 16th. It will also include our first look at the next-gen upgrade for the game.

It has been quite the wait since Clint got teased for the first time back in July. It wasn’t until Kate Bishop’s Deep Dive that we learned about his storyline that would thrust the archer into the future. The new key art highlights the trouble he will face with Maestro hanging above his head menacingly. Even if the wait was long, I am excited to explore this interpretation of the iconic Future Imperfect run.

This War Table reveal could also include a teaser for the next DLC hero. It seems pretty obvious at this point that it will be Black Panther. A few months back, we got some details from data miner @mmmmmmmmiller on what the king of Wakanda will bring to the table. There s still some time until they release the War Table video, so hopefully, we’ll also get smaller updates to build up to this reveal. Kate’s release was a few weeks after her showcase, but this one got announced further in advance. As such, the wait between Deep Dive and character release could be shorter.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Newsletter Teases Upcoming Hawkeye DLC

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Newsletter Teases Upcoming Hawkeye DLC

The New Year has finally started, and we are just getting ready to see what the future has to hold. 2020 was a rough year in general, so hopefully, 2021 will be a new beginning for many. That statement also includes Marvel’s Avengers that had a rough launch in the last year. I have been covering the game for quite some bit now, so I am hopeful to see what direction it might take in the New Year. There has been some silence lately, as most developers have only recently returned from the holidays.

Luckily, we did get a chance to cover the first 2021 developer stream. It offered some smaller teases, which teases some big plans for the year. It looks like a lot is happening for this game, which is exciting to see. Many of us are still anticipating a reveal and release date for the next DLC character, Clint Barton, the original Hawkeye. We sadly haven’t heard anything since December, but it looks like some activity is happening behind the scenes. As a nice surprise, we just got a new newsletter featuring his silhouette teasing his upcoming addition.

    https://twitter.com/PlayAvenger/status/1352702483953561601?s=20

Sadly, we haven’t received the newsletter in Europe yet, so I am grateful that @PlayAvenger shared the one he received. It doesn’t say anything really, but his inclusion at least is a hint that he may sooner rather than later. We still have no official release date or even any info on their Deep Dive, but any sign of what they are working on is a welcomed change of pace. They have already added an open menu for his addition on the website, so we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. Sadly, there is no developer stream today, which highlights they might be working on quite a bit right now. We’ll keep an eye out on what the future may hold for Hawkeye and Marvel’s Avengers

  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Teases Loot 2.0 and MCU Skins

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Teases Loot 2.0 and MCU Skins

Finally, we have entered a new year for Marvel’s Avengers, and Crystal Dynamics returned with a new developer stream. We are still waiting for some information on future updates. Sadly, I wasn’t able to participate this time. Luckily, the community always has an eye on any update. As such, I am very grateful to @SonicPhoto for keeping notes and @PlayAvenger live-tweeting the event. So, without further ado, let’s jump into the latest and minor updates for the game as we kick-off the new year:

    • They currently have no news to share on Clint Barton. We will only get this information via official channels once they have a War Table planned.
    • The roadmap is still in development. It seems CD is currently working on finding the dates, as they want to add some solid information to it.
    • New content is being worked on while they are going through their backlog. The devs want to include it in the roadmaps.

    • New Game+, or the Campaign Replay, is currently in QA.
    • The reason for the AIM Cloning Labs delay is due to multiplayer crashes. It seems they are also looking into a join-in-progress feature.
    • Captain America’s traversal is also getting looked into, but there are higher priorities.
    • Loot 2.0 got highlighted in the stream. CD is adding quality-of-life features, gear will be more meaningful, and it’ll be easier for players to choose the right one. So, we can expect more functionality, and they want to make us excited about it. They did say it will still take some time.

    • MCU skins are heavily being looked into, but there is a lot of red tapes involved.
    • Super Adaptoid multiplayer mission is in bug fixing and will likely drop before the Cloning Labs do.

Overall, it sounds like a lot of the backlog has been holding the game back. Still, it looks like the end is in sight, so we’ll see how it will develop, especially now that the holidays have ended. The roadmap already setting dates is motivating, as it means they can potentially map out the upcoming months. I believe it would be good to have vague release windows with content information, but Crystal Dynamics probably has their reason for this approach. They did use the chance to introduce a new member of their Community Management, Leyla. It looks like we’ll see more new faces in future streams. So, we have something to look forward to as we await the next big reveal for the game.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Journal: Kate Bishop Is A Long-Awaited Spark

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Journal: Kate Bishop Is A Long-Awaited Spark

It has been a rather long wait until we got our first official DLC addition to Marvel’s Avengers. The game’s launch has been rough but going by what many current releases are facing. It seems to have become a general issue, especially with big AAA IPs. Still, after around three months, we finally got our first brand new character and story mission in the form of Kate Bishop a.k.a. the second-generation Hawkeye. Now, I spent some time trying to get a feeling for the character, what future DLCs will offer, and the hints left for what we can expect from 2021. So, without further ado, let’s discuss the first DLC mission Taking AIM.

    Brand New Kit

Let’s start with the main focus of this DLC, our first new playable hero. I think many were surprised that the game would focus on two archers early on, especially Kate, who might not be as well-known as Clint. She hasn’t been a prominent member of the Avengers on the silver-screen but will make her debut in the upcoming Disney+ Hawkeye show. Yet, her addition makes sense from a story and gameplay perspective. Before we jump into her story, let’s talk about the kit she offers to players. What makes Kate unique from the other six playable characters? Well, Kate’s base set already stands out thanks to her Quantum-based abilities.

She stole some technology from AIM and can warp around the map. It is a fun addition that also gives her a visual distinction. Yes, she is primarily a bow-user, but that is not all. If you want to establish a build around close-quarter, you can focus on her sword. Her melee weapon already makes her stand-out, as she is much faster than most others, especially combined with her ability to warp. Her heroic ability also lends itself to either make her a powerhouse to take down larger groups of enemies or allow you to support your friends in combat.
Luckily, to make use of her kit within a short amount of time, you can level up quickly. So, you won’t have to spend hours grinding her to make use of her various abilities. By the end of her operation, you probably will have her at around Level 30. That way, you won’t wait too long before you are shooting out mighty bomb arrows. So, you’ll have enough chances to try out the various tools in her kit to experiment to uncover which playstyle fits you best. For now, it is a bit difficult to say how unique Clint will be to justify their back-to-back inclusion.

    A Sizeable Beginning

The selling point of the DLC is the story that continues where Reassemble left off. We start the tale with our heroes following a lead on Monica Rapuccini’s new project. They run into Kate, who reveals her former mentor has been kidnapped by AIM. So, she joins the Avengers to save him. They realize that the Tachyon Rifts, which have been showing up periodically, were caused by Monica’s meddling with time. Telling you anymore would spoil most of the story, but the set-up for Clint’s upcoming Future Imperfect storyline is an intriguing one.

In total, the new operation took me around four hours to complete, which is a sizeable chunk of content if you consider it is also for free. Plus, Crystal Dynamics has teased that it will be just an introduction to what we can expect from the game’s future additions, so that has me stoked. There is, however, one issue I do have with the DLC. It mainly focuses on the single-player content but doesn’t add much to the endgame and multiplayer options. So, it doesn’t offer much for people to return outside of leveling up Kate and maxing her character card.

Plus, the missions are only available in her operation, which feels like an odd choice, as the new environments are great but only really showcased in the story missions. CD has pointed out that the multiplayer portion will arrive at a later date. The Kate Bishop DLC is a great addition that lays the groundwork for the game’s future. They have teased that they will add MP content in-between DLC content drops, which could balance out this issue, but the direction teased is exciting. After a prologue introducing these characters, it finally feels like Crystal Dynamics can let loose with how much they dive into the Marvel Universe.

  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Teases New Endgame Content for New Years

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Teases New Endgame Content for New Years

To end out the year, Marvel’s Avengers‘ developers Crystal Dynamics held one last stream. We got one last time to chat with some from the team behind the game and get a little insight into what is happening. Even while they had to fight some technical difficulties, it was a fun time to hear Phil and Andy talk about what brought them into the industry. Of course, that wasn’t all, as they also teased a few bugs they are currently working on and one major reveal.

    • The Module reduction was a bug and not a nerf. CD confirmed they are working on it.
    • They are working on the Iconic Ms. Marvel skin. The Xbox Black Widow pre-order skin bug will be in the next patch.
    • Nvidia has new drivers to optimize the game’s performance.

We did get one major reveal. CD revealed that we can expect something for the New Years’. It wasn’t just a reference regarding confirmed DLC characters, but overall new story content, new villains, and adaptations to the endgame to add variety. So, it’ll be interesting to see how they will kickstart the new year. There was also a mention of an Omega-Level Threat being released before the Cloning Labs.

Of course, they couldn’t go into detail, but it is great to hear that they are looking into expanding the game beyond the confirmed character DLCs. I am glad they are putting some more focus on the endgame content, as that is currently the area the game can grow the most. I am looking forward to where the game goes from here. Kate Bishop was a fantastic addition, and she was just the beginning.

  • ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Confirms MODOK’s Return

‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Leak Confirms MODOK’s Return

Crystal Dynamics teased an update that will be made available as they continue working on the AIM Cloning Labs. We first heard about during last Friday’s dev stream on Twitch. Sadly, as per usual, they were very coy on what exactly it could end up being. Luckily, it seems data miner @mmmmmmmiller has once again found a way to access the system and share a rather interesting audio file. It confirms that something that got teased a while back might be finally nearing its release. The file includes a brand new voice over by Hank Pym, who seems rather frustrated on the appearance of a brand new clone, who might be familiar to those that finished the Reassemble storyline.

The battle against MODOK was probably one of the best aspects of the story. It gave us our first real tease of multi-layered boss battles. Crystal Dynamics did confirm they are working to bring back the boss fight in a future update and going by the audio, we will be facing his clone. The cloning concept allows the developers to reintroduce their main villains as often as they want without worrying them even appearing multiple times. That is even the whole point of the Cloning Labs. At the end of the main campaign, we did see him fall out of the Kree Sentry, which did hint at him returning in the future.

He may have a role in a future storyline while the clone keeps us busy playing with our friends. I wonder if his mission is part of the upcoming Hawkeye DLC, or we could see a bigger launch of the missing multiplayer missions in January. We have been waiting for the Cloning Labs since the launch. So we are getting quite antsy about its release. Right now, the game needs more multiplayer content to keep people returning.

  • Hawkeye Could be ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Tracer

Hawkeye Could be ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Tracer

Ever get that feeling of déjà-vu? Well, some have that fear with Marvel’s Avengers’ current DLC plans. There have been many reveals to their decision to kick-off their long-term DLC plans with two archers back-to-back. There was the question of how they would make them unique enough to distinguish their playstyles. Well, our first deep dive on Kate Bishop revealed she has a unique ability based on Quantum technology she stole from AIM. It added a great flair and visual design to make her stand-out, but it did open one question, will they do something similar to Hawkeye?

If you haven’t finished Marvel’s Avengers Taking AIM storyline and want to remain spoiler-free, only continue at your own risk.

Hawkeye is pretty much the original archer, so there is no necessity to add any unique abilities. Yet, the Taking AIM storyline ends on a note that may set-up a potential for Clint Barton to stand-out. His return to the game’s main timeline came at a cost, as he suddenly started to distort. We see him shifting what may be between different times after visiting the future, which will be the focus for his DLC. You can even still find him in his bed trying to recover, as we all wait for the DLC to release in early 2021. Until then, we can only speculate which effect the Time Gate has on the ex-Avenger.

There is a chance that Clint might suffer through the effects of his time on the other side of the Time Gate. To save his life, Tony and Bruce might try to develop a way to contain the Tachyon energy that is most likely causing his distortion. It may not just act as a cure, but he might also use it to his advantage. Clint can harness the Tachyon energy to alter time in small doses, such as returning to an earlier point in time similar to Overwatch‘s Tracer.

It would offer a unique approach to Clint’s repertoire, as Kate is more focused on getting around fast with her Quantum-based abilities. So, to make her former mentor stand out, he is more focused on laying down traps and keeping his distance. The rewind is the perfect opportunity to set an explosive before bowing out and raining down arrows to ensure it takes everyone out. He could even have a unique arrow, which can stop an enemy from being able to move. They get trapped at that moment in time so a group can stack damage before they are unfrozen and receive it all at once. It would be quite a helpful ability when facing challenging bosses, especially Future Imperfect‘s Maestro.

The ability could support a unique build, and it would make sense from a story perspective. The Avengers also have scientist Lyle Getz, who can unwillingly help them develop the technology to harness Tachyon energy. What also supports this theory is that Hawkeye’s iconic darker shade of purple seems to be a similar color to that is used with Tachyon Rifts. It may just be a coincidence, but it is an interesting visual parallel. In a way, Clint is such an established character that he does not necessarily require an energy-based ability of any kind, but the set-up seems too perfect to add that little something special to make him stand-out from his protégé.

  • Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Talk Omega-Level Threats Delay & Bug Fixes

Latest ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Dev Stream Talk Omega-Level Threats Delay & Bug Fixes

It has been a big week for Marvel’s Avengers as we finally got our hands on Kate Bishop. The new character came with a fun new kit to play around with and an almost 3-hour story mission. It was a great start to what hopefully will be a continuous roll-out of content over the next couple of months. Of course, we also had our weekly developer stream to give us some minor updates. The biggest takeaway is that they confirmed we most likely won’t get any larger updates before the end of the year. So, we might not see the addition of Omega-Level Threats in the coming weeks. So, for right now, do not expect anything to drop until 2021. With the bad news out first, let’s jump into our stream round-up:

    • They are still actively working on Omega-Level Threats, especially the AIM Cloning Labs. It looks like they are trying to balance it out with Crystal Dynamics teasing something happening “sooner“. He sadly did not offer any details on what that could be.
    • They confirmed that a variety of bug fixes for Kate’s addition are still in the pipeline, such as her flying around the map, not activating pressure plates, and missions disappearing. They did confirm that her Harm Room mission will return.
    • They planned to add civilians into the game but faced a lot of framerate issues. CD is planning on making scenarios where they can bring them into the game. So, we can expect those kinds of missions in the future.
    • Crystal Dynamics is trying to avoid reusing assets too often, so we should expect more new content in the future.

    • Matchmaking will get an optimization, especially for future content additions.
    • Characters have changed quite a bit over the development cycle, such as Kate’s had a different weapon, while Iron Man was able to use a drone.
    • Roadmap still seems to be trapped in an approval process. CD didn’t offer any details on the matter.
    • They have approached the topic of Spider-Man, Hawkeye, and Black Panther. They are not a liberty to say anything, as they can only confirm things that were approved internally.
    • Adjustments have been made to their Home Office situation. CD was able to streamline the process a bit to do mo-cap and record audio lines.
    • variety of features are still in development with high priority, such as New Game+, Loot 2.0, Loadouts, Emote Wheel, and the addition of new villains.

Most of the answers are things we’ve already heard in past streams. I am quite curious what the content is that could release before the Labs. There was a tease for an Inhuman addition a while back, so perhaps it is connected. I am not the biggest fan of the continuous delay of their Omega-Level threats. I understand why they are doing it, as there might be some issues with rejoining a mission when you lose your connection, but the game does lack some multiplayer content to keep players coming back to it. Here’s hoping that they might have some bigger plans for that shortly, as well as Clint’s addition isn’t delayed too far into early 2021. My prediction is still in late January to early February, but we will see what the next year brings.
