REPORT: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ to Film at MIT

We’ve seen many iconic locations throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s filmography. Our favorite Avengers have visited Wakanda, fought in New York City, and even South Korea. So, they’ve been across the world quite a bit. Surprisingly though, it seems that Marvel loves revisiting the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It’s Tony Stark’s old university where he studied physics and electronic engineering has been a part of the MCU since it was first mentioned in 2008’s Iron Man. Well, it looks like we’re going to revisit the famous tech school in another project, as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is setting out to film there according to Cosmic Circus.

It’s not the first time we’ve visited the location since the first film was released. We then got a brief sequence there in Captain America: Civil War where Stark presented his BARF technology. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, we revisited the location from a different perspective, as we saw the scene from Quentin Beck’s perspective. We even found out in Black Panther that Michael B. Jordan‘s Erik Killmonger studied there. Perhaps there is a tribute to him involved. There is also a high likelihood we’ll visit it in the Ironheart Disney+ series.

Principal photography has already started on the film but it’s uncertain what they’re filming there, but given Shuri’s affinity for technology, she might be presenting. At the end of the first Black Panther film, the fictional country opened up to the rest of the world. It wouldn’t be too surprising if she is holding a seminar on Wakandan tech to ambitious students. Who knows, even Cosmic Circus seems to think there’s a good chance Riri Williams might be in the crowd. Dominique Throne has been cast for some time and won’t enter production until 2022.

  • Principal Photography Underway on ‘BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER’

Principal Photography Underway on ‘BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER’

Kevin Feige recently informed us that production on Ryan Coogler‘s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was underway in Atlanta and now we’re happy to report that principal photography is underway on the film.

The film is set to move forward after the events of Avengers: Endgame and will now have to do so without star Chadwick Boseman who tragically passed away nearly a year ago. The movie, shooting under the working title Summer Break, is rumored to introduce one of Marvel Comics’ oldest characters, Namor, the king of a civilization long thought lost (they call it Atlantis in the comics but will they here?). Following the passing of Boseman, Feige revealed that they would not recast the role, turning attention to which character will now take on the mantle of Black Panther. The thought has fans divided over who that should be with a dead Killmonger, M’Baku, Shuri, Nakia and Okyoe all being popular choices, even if they don’t all make as much sense.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, due out July 8, 2022, will see Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira and Lupitia Nyong’O return in lead roles and Winston Duke, Angela Bassett and Martin Freeman (whose backstory will get an interesting jolt) return in supporting roles, among others. Tenoch Huerta is rumored to bring Namor to life in the MCU and will be joined by a pair of currently unknown actors in the roles of Namora and Attuma. The film will also feature the first appearance of a major MCU character who will play a key part in the film.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’: A Desperate War for Vibranium

The rumors are pointing that the upcoming Black Panther sequel will introduce the world to Namor and Marvel’s Atlantis. The first hint came when Illuminerdi shared the info that Tenoch Huerta had already gotten cast in the role. The Marvel Cinematic Universe would potentially connect Atlantis with Mayan civilization, which would make it distinct from DC’s Aquaman franchise. Just a few days ago, Production Weekly shared some story plot points that hinted at a war brewing between these two isolated cities. As Wakanda expands to meet the world, Namor’s home country remains hidden from the world. The only question is, why will these two end up in conflict. Well, perhaps that listing may give us our first hint.

Marvel: The Eternals would introduce Atlantis and the Prince of the Seas Namor

There’s a curious line regarding Namor’s human father at the tail end of the description. It states that he went to search for the Vibranium in Antarctica. Sadly, it cuts off there, but it echoes the events from the comics. Winston Churchill sent Ernest Shackleton to find the rare metal there. He would end up falling in love with Princess Fen, and they would give birth to Namor. So, they might be closely following his comic origins. As Atlantis, a highly advanced civilization, was also hidden away in Antarctica, it might be another location where a Vibranium meteorite crashed long ago.

Interestingly enough, Homo Mermanus also had an alien origin, as they are from the water planet Vodan. They may have arrived on Earth a long time ago to find the crashed metal. Yet, they shared their information and mixed it with Mayans that then moved underwater after the fall of their civilization. It could even connect to Chloé Zhao‘s Eternals, who played an integral role in the fall of the first Atlantean city of Lemuria. They fled from the surface world and used past scriptures to uncover the remnants of the meteorite. Yet, unlike Wakanda, where it took root in the fresh soil, the icy environment would not allow the alien meal to take root. So, they would eventually run out.

Marvel Locations: Wakanda Forever - Hero Collector

As Namor took over the throne, the country has reached a boiling point. Their source to keep the city safe is depleting. As such, a tough decision had to be made, and they set out to find the only other known source of the material. They send out some scouts that get caught by the Dora Milaje. It ends up pushing the conflict as they try to uncover the new secret invaders. Namor sees it as an attack and prioritizes the safety of his people. With it, the war for the final source of Vibranium starts. Wakanda faces a threat that no one would’ve seen coming.

  • REPORT: First Story Details Hint at Namor’s Motivation in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

REPORT: First Story Details Hint at Namor’s Motivation in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just recently entered production. They also seemed to have added Loki‘s cinematographer, Autumn Durald. That wasn’t all, as DisInsider just shared some information from Production Weekly that offers even more details on the film’s plot. It seems that the reported logline confirms Namor’s live-action debut, which was hinted at by Illumiinerdi some time ago. Not just that, it even offers some details into the film’s story and what role Namor might have once it premieres next year.

Both Wakanda and Atlantis are hidden civilizations with advanced technology and increased militaristic abilities that decided to separate themselves from the rest of the world for their own safety, and in a way, out of fear. Wakanda feared that their technology would be abused. Atlantis feared that surface dwellers would come and desecrate the mythical city just as they did so many years ago. And yet their fears escalate even further when these two once-hidden nations clash with each other. Wakanda and Atlantis have a shockingly intertwined history. Wakanda is the only county in the world with access to vibranium. However, rumors of its power spread throughout the world, and Namor’s human father was sent searching for this rare material in Antarctica…

It seems he’ll have an antagonistic role, but what stands out is the hint at Vibranium’s history getting expanded. There is a reference to Namor’s father exploring Antarctica for the material, which may also be why these two nations go to war. It may have a vital role in Atlantean society as it is in Wakanda. Namor’s backstory might also tie closely to these events. It’s also interesting to note that they are revealing his people are from Atlantis, which leads to a direct comparison to DC’s Aquaman franchise. It could be a placeholder for now, but it is still odd it’s in there. One can assume Marvel and Disney want to brand this new city, and avoiding a direct comparison is the best approach.

The report also includes the cast, which gives Letitia Wright the top billing. It adds more credence to the possibility of her continuing the title of Black Panther from T’Challa. Lupita Nyong’oWinston DukeMartin FreemanDaniel KaluuyaFlorence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett are also currently listed. So far, none of these actors have been confirmed to return. It’ll be interesting to see if we get more information on the casting and story as the film already started production. For now, it’s our first glimpse into what may be heading our way, and hopefully, we’ll get more details soon.

  • REPORT: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Adds ‘Loki’s Cinematographer Autumn Durald

REPORT: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Adds ‘Loki’s Cinematographer Autumn Durald

Just yesterday, Variety confirmed that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has entered production in Atlanta. marvel Studios president confirmed it in an interview with the publisher, where he also promised that they will make Chadwick Boseman proud, as they continue his legacy after his tragic passing. Plot details are still kept tightly under wraps. So far, we only heard from Illuminerdi that the film will introduce the world to the prince of Atlantis, Namor played by Tenoch Huerta. It looks like Discussing Film may have gotten their hands on an interesting detail, as they reveal that cinematographer Autumn Durald has joined the project.

She’ll replace Ryan Coogler‘s collaborator Rachel Morrison, who worked on the first film. Durald has recently worked on the Loki Disney+ series and was the cinematographer on all six episodes. She has also worked with Gia Coppola on her debut film, Palo Alto and Mainstream. Morrison sadly had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts, as she is working on her directorial debut Flint Strong. Perhaps it’ll give her an opportunity to join a future Marvel Studios project in a new role.

We still don’t know which actors are reprising their roles, but as Variety points out Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett seem likely to return. As it has started production, we might get a clearer picture on the film’s plot in the near future.

E3: New Look at ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ Black Panther Released Ahead of Square Enix Panel

Marvel’s Avengers players have been anxious about the upcoming Square Enix segment from E3. Not only will it finally unveil the long-rumored Guardians of the Galaxy game, but we finally get a closer look at what awaits us in Black Panther’s upcoming expansion. It seems Crystal Dynamics is just as excited as the official German Instagram released a brand new image of the titular hero ahead of tomorrow’s conference. Of course, they are sparse with any details regarding the character, but that will change once the official event starts.

It seems they wanted to integrate more of the purple that the Black Panther film highlighted in the game and the overall design looks amazing. If you look closely, you can even see his symbol on the chest. So far, this might be the best-designed character for Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers game. It‘s uncertain if this is the finished product that started with the concept art leaks from around nine months ago. There is a chance that this original design may turn out to be just one of the many skins that will be released.

Overall, the design looks great and seems like it combines different elements from the comics and Marvel Cinematic Universe costumes. The mask looks very sleek and the detailing is really nice to add that element of royalty to it. We’ll most likely get a closer look at him in action and what skins he’ll get once he joins the film. Here’s hoping we also get a clear release date alongside an updated roadmap to see what the next half of the year has planned for us.

  • REPORT: Attuma and Namora Joining Namor in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

REPORT: Attuma and Namora Joining Namor in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

Around four months ago, it was revealed that Marvel Studios was actively casting two Mayan Warriors for the upcoming Black Panther sequel. It made many of us wonder how they might connect to the story surrounding the fictional African city of Wakanda. Well, Illuminerdi just broke the news that Tenoch Huerta might be playing Namor the Sub-Mariner in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In their article, they also revealed that these two warriors are actually well-known supporting characters for the Atlantean king. They believe that the warriors are actually Namora, his cousin, and the warlord Attuma.

Now, fans of the comics will instantly recognize these characters. Namora is similar to her cousin and is half Atlantean and half mutant. She is also known as Aquaria Neptunia in the comics before taking on the nickname. Attuma is part of an Atlantean tribe that is known to be barbaric nomads. He is the leader of his kind and believes that he is the true king of Atlantis. It is uncertain if we might see some infighting or he might even be the one to nudge Namor into getting in conflict with Wakanda.

Overall, it looks like the film will include a very impressive cast of characters. Of course, the Atlanteans will be at a disadvantage on land, but we’ve seen a river that goes through the fictional country. So, they might try to steal something from the capital that ends up putting a big red target on their back from the Wakandans. We might not get any news on its development for some time. So, we’ll see if we get an official casting announcement in the near future. There is also the tease in Avengers: Endgame when some underwater tremors hit Africa by Okoye. We’ll know more once the film premieres on July 8th, 2022.

  • REPORT: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ to Feature Tenoch Huerta as Namor

REPORT: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ to Feature Tenoch Huerta as Namor

We’ve all been keeping a close eye on what the sequel of Black Panther might have in store for us. The tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman made its direction uncertain as director Ryan Coogler continued to push forward. The subtitle Wakanda Forever showcases that his spirit will live on in the project and Marvel Studios confirmed they will not be recasting T’Challa in the upcoming film. We’ve been wondering how they might tackle the sequel and it looks like there will be some surprises in store. Illuminerdi has exclusively shared the news that the upcoming second entry will feature the Sub-Mariner himself, Namor. It seems that the Atlantean will be played by Tenoch Huerta. It is interesting to note that the actor has already been cast for the film almost seven months ago.

There have been some rumors that he would potentially appear in the Black Panther sequel and his inclusion may hint at a big war happening between the two cultures. Atlantis has actually teased quite a long time ago in a sequence of Iron Man 2, where Fury had a marking in the middle of the ocean. Now, the big reveal regarding the casting of Huerta may also hint at a very different origin for the Atlanteans, as we know that there was some casting going around regarding Mayans for the film. As such, we can suspect that they will try to make the MCU’s version their descends. It’ll be interesting to see if we get any official confirmation on his casting in the future.

  • Danai Gurira to Star in a ‘Black Panther’ Okoye Origin Spin-Off Series for Disney+

Danai Gurira to Star in a ‘Black Panther’ Okoye Origin Spin-Off Series for Disney+

When it got announced that Ryan Coogler is developing a series that takes place in Wakanda. We have no idea what direction the series will take. It might explore the founding of the fictional Wakandan country or explore its time opening up the borders to the rest of the world. Now, it looks like there might be more in development for the Black Panther franchise, as in an article exploring the various lawyers in the entertainment industry. It mentions that Danai Gurira will return for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film. The thing that stands out is that she will get an original Disney+ series exploring her origins. A second trade report seemed to clarify that the Okoye origin story is a separate project from the previously announced Wakanda project being developed by Coogler.

Okoye has become a fan-favorite character since she appeared as the leader of the Dora Milaje. If they explore her origin, we might see her early days and what grueling training they undergo to become the protectors of their king. It would also give the franchise a reason to explore more time with T’Chaka, who had a minor role. There is also the relationship between her and Daniel Kaluuya‘s W’Kabi. We only got a brief glimpse of it in the film. So, it might be worth taking a closer look at what would lead this couple to drift apart due to their conviction to Wakanda.
