Official ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Merchandise Reveals Flag-Smashers’ Secret Identity

Right now, WandaVision is on everyone’s mind as we build-up to the final four episodes. Yet, the Super Bowl gave us a brand new Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer that showcased all the action and our new antagonist, Flag-Smasher. The character is the leader of a secret organization ULTIMATUM, which seeks world peace through violence. The trailers revealed a gender-swapped version of the Marvel villain with a very different design from the comics. Our first look at the actress confirmed that Erin Kellyman is indeed playing this interpretation, as reported by Lizzie Hill. Many might remember her from Solo: A Star Wars Story.

A few months ago, we even saw that the Disney+ show is using the comic’s world symbol with an additional bloodied handmark. The only question was if this was an adaptation of the original Flag-Smasher or a brand new character. Well, it looks like the merchandise site Zazzle may have accidentally revealed her identity. The description for the graphic card states the following:

Check out this paint splatter graphic featuring Karli Morgenthau, leader of The Flag Smashers!

It looks like the show’s Flag-Smasher is indeed a gender-swapped version of the original Karl Morgenthau. It would imply that she might have a similar origin story, as the daughter of a wealthy Swiss banker and diplomat who traveled the world in her youth before a tragedy would warp her world-view. It will be interesting to see how they tackle her story and how it may intertwine with the overarching plot about who will be the next Captain America. It certainly will be a battle of world views when Marvel Studios’ second show hits Disney+ in March.

  • Don Cheadle Confirms Appearance in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

Don Cheadle Confirms Appearance in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing and starting to become more and more interconnected. WandaVision already set the first steps, as classic characters like Darcy Lewis and Jimmy Woo had a larger role in the overarching narrative. Now, it seems like Falcon and the Winter Soldier has one icon from the franchise making an appearance. In an interview with the BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast, the actor may have accidentally revealed that he will be making an appearance in Falcons and the Winter Soldier. In the interview, he states that:

It’s really a fun and interesting and, by all imagination, completely open-ended — this can go anywhere. It’s great, I can’t wait to get in the room with the writers and figure out how all those things [connecting Armor Wars to the MCU] happen. You know, Rhodey shows up in Winter Soldier and Falcon’s show. So, it can be a lot.

Cheadle might have joined the ranks of Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland, who are notorious for accidentally leaking information on the films. His addition also opens up the wider universe, as we didn’t know what role War Machine would have after Avengers. Endgame. There is also a chance that the storyline of Armor Wars may also connect to the series. Rhodey is also in a similar spot to Sam, as he will have to carry on the suit that many connect with Iron Man. Even if he has a different branding, it still is heavily tied to Tony. I can imagine Sam and Bucky meeting up with him to get their hand on some information, or even the plane we see them take in the latest trailer. Whatever his role may be, it is always great to see Cheadle return, and cannot wait to see what the MCU has in store for his character.

  • Super Bowl to Feature Disney Trailers for ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’, ‘Falcon and the Winter Solider’ And Potentially More

Super Bowl to Feature Disney Trailers for ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’, ‘Falcon and the Winter Solider’ And Potentially More

The Football event of the year is just around the corner. Everyone has their eyes on the Super Bowl for different reasons. Some are there to cheer on their team, while others can’t wait for those exclusive trailers. Well, after a year-long pandemic, some are wondering if anyone will risk the investment. According to Deadline, we will see a smaller line-up than in the past few years. Many streaming services like HBO Max, Peacock, Apple TV, and Netflix will skip this year. Luckily, it seems that Disney is willing to take the risk. They plan to release at least two to four trailers that will be on par with previous years.

Raya and the Last Dragon is a safe bet to be one of the trailers, as they want to test out their second Premier Access film that releases next month. Last year, Disney+ made a major splash with their first official teaser for their Disney+ slate. It was a short trailer that showcased Falcon and the Winter SoldierWandaVision, and even Loki. None of these series got a release date at the time, but it certainly left an impact when it initially aired. So, there is a good chance we will get another trailer that teases their 2021 Marvel slate. Deadline does not rule out a possible trailer for Black Widow, which is still set to release May 7th. They highlight that you shouldn’t expect a sudden announcement that the film will be made available on Disney+ during the event.

It is crazy to think that Black Widow released a trailer last year and was only a few months away from release. If they do end up including the upcoming Marvel film, there is a good chance we might not see another delay. They could be waiting out to see how Raya performs before making any decisions. It is understandable after Mulan underperformed last year on the service. The release of Pixar’s Soul saw a massive increase in app downloads. However, it probably was nowhere near as profitable as a regular cinematic release. Well, no matter which direction they end up going. There is no competition this year, and Disney will be able to dominate the post-game buzz with anything they decide to release.

  • Kevin Feige Teases Multiple Seasons For Upcoming Disney+ Shows

Kevin Feige Teases Multiple Seasons For Upcoming Disney+ Shows

We are only a few days away from WandaVision finally airing. It’ll be the first in a wide variety of new shows that will kick-off Marvel Studios’ expansion into long-form storytelling. At first glance, it seemed like they were focusing more on mini-series than trying to focus on a yearly seasonal turnout. Disney+ is no stranger to it, as The Mandalorian just released its second season. However, that show also proved how flexible the streaming service is, as the upcoming third season will release later after a new show titled The Book of Boba Fett takes over its yearly release date. So, it made us wonder if Marvel Studios may embrace multiple seasons after all. Luckily, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed this is very much a possibility:

It will vary. There are some shows that have been built to further expand our storytelling and then go into features. We’ve already announced Lizzie Olsen being a part of “Doctor Strange 2.” We’ve announced Teyonah Parris being part of “Captain Marvel 2.” There are some shows that, while always interconnected, are being built with multiple seasons in mind. So it’ll vary the way a lot of I think great TV now varies, whether it’s a couple of years between seasons of “Game of Thrones” or “Stranger Things,” or one offs like — what did I just watch? — “Queen’s Gambit.” One of the fun things about streaming is the rules are loose, which allows for you to just follow creatively, where you want to go.

Sadly, Feige is as tight-lipped as ever and did not give away which season could potentially be mapped out with multiple seasons. Interestingly enough, almost a whole year ago, our very own Charles Murphy did break the news that Loki was very likely to get a second season. It seemed like many of the lead and supporting roles were given options to return. A few days ago, the news broke that Loki showrunner Michael Waldron was also inking up a massive deal with Disney that would include a potential second season. So, it seems very likely that at least the God of Mischief was going to explore this. As Feige points out, they aren’t as restricted with their seasonal turn-out so they will adapt each show’s future season to fit within the overarching storyline, as they switch between Disney+ and feature films. So, we’ll see if WandaVision, Hawkeye, and the many other series might also return for multiple seasons.

  • EXCLUSIVE: New ‘THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER’ Set Videos

EXCLUSIVE: New ‘THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER’ Set Videos

Just as we get word that filming on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is set to restart in Prague this Fall, we have gotten our hands on some videos of prior footage. Filmed last year by James Brown, the new videos give us another look at a familiar scene and the different angle provides a closer look at one of the female villains and a better view of Bucky’s hostage rescue that raises an interesting question.

The first video is more of a behind the scenes look at Sebastian Stan and his stunt double preparing for a scene and Stan gregariously shaking hands and hugging crew members on set. While it doesn’t give away too much, fans always love to see this kind of BTS action!

Another behind the scenes video which shows either Wyatt Russell or his stuntman preparing for action as John Walker, aka U.S. Agent, preparing to jump in and help out with what we believe is a hostage situation taking place around the 2023 G20 Summit (you can check that out more here).

This next video shows Stan working on some of those moves he was practicing as he takes on one of what we believe to be a hostage taker before heading towards the SWAT vehicle where the hostages are held.

The next video gives us a look at U.S. Agent fighting one of the female villains we first saw in our earlier post and suspected might be the Grapplers. Though it’s really hard to see, it’s possible that the female taking on U.S. Agent could be Erin Kellyman, who we believed joined the production, possibly as Thunderbolt member Melissa Gold, aka Songbird.

The final video is the most interesting. While we’ve seen another angle of this scene before, this look provides a clue that one of the hostages being released from the vehicle might be more important to the plot than the others. Around the 9 second mark, a hostage stumbles and falls. After she’s helped up, you can clearly see the crew lower a boom mike over her head so that her conversation with Bucky and Walker can be recorded. Given the situation at hand (hostages taken at the G20 Summit), it’s highly unlikely this is casual, “thanks guys type of comment and more likely that this unknown character is someone of significance in the series.

It’ll be incredibly interesting to see just what these set videos turn out to be when we finally get to see The Falcon and The Winter Soldier when the Marvel Studios production airs on Disney Plus!
