Tom Holland Already Pitched a ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Sequel

Spider-Man: No Way Home is just around the corner and we’re about to see the webhead’s biggest story yet. He’s going to face villains from other Spider-Man franchises as the multiverse collapses in on itself. Yet, the question also remains with his identity out there where his story is heading to next. It seems that Tom Holland might have an idea, as he revealed in an interview with Fandom that he actually already pitched an idea for the next entry, but he can’t reveal it quite yet, as he’d “be ruining this movie.”

So, he’s definitely teasing something that builds off of the events from how No Way Home ends. He does highlight that he is open to passing the mantle on, but it doesn’t seem likely that the actor has played Spidey for the last time. Plus, there’s a lot of potential of seeing his story as he moves to college and faces a new world. We’ll see how Doctor Strange’s actions might leave the world and what it means for the webhead’s future. It wouldn’t be too surprising that he might take a break and play on his storyline from Homecoming, where he wants to stay low and remain the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Here’s hoping that a new trilogy – if they attempt it – might focus more on our favorite webhead as he struggles with some more grounded storylines.

First ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Clip Features ‘Hawkeye’ Easter Egg

It’s all connected. That line was once carried by Agents of SHIELD as it tried to connect the Marvel TV series with its bigger brother on the silver screen. Yet, no matter what happened, the films never acknowledged events from the TV series. Avengers: Endgame was the first with James D’Arcy’s return as Jarvis but it was most likely intended as nothing more than a cameo. With the arrival of the Disney+ series, it seemed like that would change and it seems Spider-Man: No Way Home is starting that new direction.

The first clip of the threequel has found its way online and includes a very noticeable Hawkeye reference while Peter is swinging MJ to safety. For a few seconds, you can see the newly introduced Rogers: The Musical ad highlighted as they swing by. It’s a great point of continuity that the musical has a strong presence in New York City and also hints that they may take place around the same time.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that Spidey is suddenly going to show up in Hawkeye – even if that would be a great little surprise – but it continues to highlight how connected Marvel Studios’ various projects are going to be. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will also be the first series where events from the Disney+ series WandaVision will bleed into the latest film entry and it’ll be interesting to see how they might connect moving forward.

  • REVIEW: ‘Spider-Man 2’ Remains the Definition of a Perfect Sequel

REVIEW: ‘Spider-Man 2’ Remains the Definition of a Perfect Sequel

There aren’t many things that are fortunate enough to be described with what I like to call “GOAT status.” That list includes the likes of Michael Jordan, begrudgingly Tom Brady, Heath Ledger‘s Joker performance, and anything Denzel Washington-related. There’s one that I want to talk bout today that stood the test of time. For 17 years, the superhero movie to hold that very title for me is none other than Spider-Man 2. As we’re about to witness the return of some iconic faces in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s the perfect time to let you know why it’s garnered that prestige.

5 Reasons Spider-Man 2 Is The Best Superhero Movie Of All Time

A couple of months ago, a debate popped up in my Twitter feed on who the best live-action Spider-Man was, especially in regard to the distinction between Parker and his alter-ego. For my money, Tobey‘s performance in Spider-Man 2 is the best rendition of a college-bound Peter, who also has garnered quite a bit of experience in crime-fighting. In the first Spider-Man film, he took the more awkward approach with the character. This time around, Maguire seems much more comfortable in bringing these two sides to life and it’s not an easy balance to capture.

This time around, he’s haunted by the life he can’t have with MJ, and you can feel that anguish throughout the film. It’s not just that, we also witness the struggle he has with his best friend slowly losing himself to his thirst for vengeance and their eventual falling out throughout the course of the film. Tobey truly sells that anguish throughout the film wheel still balancing it with the light-hearted aspects of the story and what it means to be Spider-Man.

Spider-Man 2 (2004) - Theatrical Cut or Extended Cut? This or That Edition

Of course, we can’t talk Spider-Man 2 without discussing the performance of Alfred Molina as Doctor Otto Octavius. He is a legend, to say the least, and to have him in this role lends a certain gravitas to such an important character in the webhead’s mythology. Molina delivers a standout performance and really makes you sympathize with Otto, who’s driven to this point because he’s lost everything. All of it is gone within seconds, be it the woman he loved or all the work he’s invested his entire life for.

It’s a powerful journey throughout the film. Even more so once the moment comes that he can finally overpower the tech that was changing him. He finds the inner strength to take control once again and save Peter along with the rest of the city. It is a beautiful moment that really cemented him as more of an anti-hero than a straight-up villain. Even to this day, it is one of the strongest performances in a superhero movie.

Peter Parker "Pizza Time" Scene - Spider-Man 2 (2004) Movie CLIP HD - YouTube

Kirsten Dunst as MJ was panned 17 years ago, but after rewatching it I can’t seem to remember why. I think she is fine in the role, especially in how she sells it that is struggling to make it as an actress and wants a normal relationship with Peter. While the first in one painted her as unattainable for Parker – following high school clichés of the time – this one twists that in its axis by having it be that they can’t be together. It’s a nice twist and one that Dunst handles well throughout the film.

Seeing Dr. Octopus in live-action was visually incredible at the time and it still holds true to this day. The score is exceptional, especially when the citizens of New York City carry Spider-Man after he stops the runaway train. An iconic scene deserves iconic notes, and this one is delivered in spades. That’s just on top of a memorable villain, great performances by the leads, and a story as personal as the original catapults Spider-Man 2 into the upper echelon of superhero films.

  • Tom Holland On How His Brother Got Robert Downey Jr.’s Original Iron Man Helmet

Tom Holland On How His Brother Got Robert Downey Jr.’s Original Iron Man Helmet

Many that have worked on the Marvel Studios’ projects have shared frequently how they’re like a family and have stayed in contact in-between productions. Sometimes we get photos of them hanging out during or outside of production, but Tom Holland‘s story during the latest episode of Hot Ones might be one of the more curious. It seems that his family ended up with Robert Downey Jr.’s original Iron Man helmet, which he believes is the “holy grail” souvenir. He shares the story in how he, or ratehr his little brother Patty, received it as a gift.

My favorite souvenir was actually given to me. Well it wasn’t given to me, it was given to my little brother Patty. When Black Panther was coming out, Robert Downy Jr. was making Dr. Doolittle in London, he was staying down the road from where I live. And he invited us to a screening of Black Panther at his house. When Patty comes running into the room, and he’s holidng the original Iron Man helmet, and Downey had given it to him as a gift.

    Tom Holland

Poor Tom Holland, he really had to fight through this interview with those hot wings. Yet, you can still see how emotional he gets talking about how important that moment felt to him as a later addition to the franchise, especially with the close relationship he built with Robert Downey Jr. throughout his time with the franchise.

  • ‘No Way Home’ Cast Want Timothée Chalamet as Harry Osborn in a Future ‘Spider-Man’ Film

‘No Way Home’ Cast Want Timothée Chalamet as Harry Osborn in a Future ‘Spider-Man’ Film

The MCU’s take on Spider-Man has made a few tweaks here or there to make the hero stand out from previous entries. Ever since the Sam Raimi trilogy introduced many of the iconic elements we’ve come to love about the iconic characters. Yet, the Amazing and MCU franchise tried to not stand out from the previous entries. It seemed like Jacob Batalon‘s Ned Leeds replaced the character of Harry Osborn, but it seems like the cast would love to introduce the character in the future. Not just that, they’ve also had a plan for who would be a perfect choice.

In an interview with AP Entertainment, No Way Home’s main cast discussed Zendaya‘s co-star Timothée Chalamet. Not just that, they even pitched that he would make a perfect choice to take on the role of Harry Osborn that Dane DeHaan and James Franco took on in the previous entries. Tom Holland, Batalon, and Zendaya believe that Timothée Chalamet is the perfect choice to take on the role next.

He’d be a good Harry Osborn. I think it’d be good to bring him in as an FOS and then he kind of becomes bad. Then he can be a good villain. He’d be a good villain.

    Tom Holland

A late introduction of Harry Osborn as a potential villain is quite an interesting idea. There was a time where he was made out to be the Green Goblin by his own father, like in the animated series Spectacular Spider-Man. Of course, with the multiverse existing, it would be interesting to see how his actions influence

  • Tom Hardy Filmed ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s Post-Credit Sequence on the ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Set

Tom Hardy Filmed ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s Post-Credit Sequence on the ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Set

Here’s a rather interesting surprise. CinemaBlend shared their interviews for the upcoming release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. They got a chance to sit down with Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal about the leaks and rumors that hit the Internet. They also got a chance to sit down with Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, and Tom Holland to discuss the upcoming release. Of course, after Venom: Let There Be Carnage released that post-credit sequence, he was asked about his appearance in the spinoff. Luckily, he offered an interesting insight into how it came together, as he states that:

I was on set, Amy Pascal came over to me and had a conversation about it. I was very excited. Tom Hardy came to set only a few days later to film his side of the Venom tag.

    Tom Holland

So, it’s interesting that Tom Hardy filmed his post-credit sequence on the No Way Home set. Holland doesn’t appear in person but rather on a TV screen. So, it does open up the question of why he would go out of his way to film there. Perhaps he’ll have an appearance in the upcoming threequel, as part of a post-credit sequence, as Holland says he “filmed his side of the Venom tag.”

The third entry in the MCU film will introduce the multiverse into Spider-Man’s story. It’s uncertain if this opens up to future storylines or rather remains as a special occurrence during this project. The way Venom arrives in the MCU is still a bit unclear and we’ll see if a third entry might open up what his role is moving forward.

  • Alfred Molina Loved the Freedom CGI Gave Him in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Alfred Molina Loved the Freedom CGI Gave Him in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Spider-Man: No Way Home will finally see the return of Doc Ock to the silver screen. Even better, Alfred Molina will return as the character, which he last played in 2004’s Spider-Man 2. Of course, modern technology offers new ways for him to bring the character to life, and his mechanical tentacles are no longer brought to life through puppeteering but rather CGI. Of course, it has raised some people’s eyebrows on the choice, but it seems Molina was quite happy with the new direction.

In the latest episode of Hot Ones, Tom Holland was interviewed about the upcoming film and he offered some insight into how excited he was to work alongside the Spider-Man veteran in the new film. Not just that, he even offered some insight into how they brought the iconic mechanical limbs to life in the series, especially in comparison to 2004.

His robotic arms were puppets. They were real tangible things and they’d have a guy on each one and they would puppeteer them while he was performing. So, he had to work in tandem with the other four guys. On this film, obviously, technology has advanced. CGI is so prevalent in these films. So, it was amazing seeing him have a bit more freedom on set with the way he could move without having to rely on other people.

    Tom Holland

Holland even offered a little insight into how they made it look like he was using the limbs to walk. He goes on to highlight that the actor had a lot of fun with the new set-up, especially as it would swing him around.

We have this thing called da toothpick rig, which is like a long bar, almost like a crane, with a platform on one end and weights on the other. And, they’d put him on that crane so they can move him around so that it looks like the arms are carrying him. And he loved it. Like, he absolutely loved it.

    Tom Holland

He also goes on to share that Molina would even get dragged off in the middle of a conversation while being attached to the toothpick rig. It sounds like they had a lot of fun during production and it’s great to see the actor embrace the new technology, especially as it probably made it easier for him to tackle action sequences even with his age. It’ll be interesting to see the final product come to life once the film is finally released next year.

  • Spider-Man Was Going to Face Off Against Kraven in ‘No Way Home’ At One Point

Spider-Man Was Going to Face Off Against Kraven in ‘No Way Home’ At One Point

We’ve all been wondering what exactly happened to Spider-Man: No Way Home. Early on, it seemed like the film was heading in a very specific direction, but it seemingly took a different route at one point in development. Our very own Charles Murphy shared some tidbits he heard on the project, such as Joel Kinnaman being considered for a role that might’ve ended up being Kraven the Hunter. Suddenly, the multiverse opened up and we got a very different film and some doubt was cast on the original vision.

Luckily, Tom Holland confirmed that the Kraven storyline was their original plan for No Way Home. While he doesn’t give away any exact information, in the hopes that they might revisit the concept in a sequel, it does feel like a relief to finally get a confirmation on what the vision was for this film. Yet, the interesting aspect was that this version was their Plan B, as “things weren’t working out” at the time. His full quote states that:

For a long time, there was going to be a Kraven movie that was going to be the third movie because things weren’t working out and all sorts of different stuff. Jon pitched me this Kraven movie, which actually was really cool. I don’t want to talk about it in case that movie ends up happening down the line, but it was fun.

    Tom Holland

There was even a time that the Spider-Slayers would’ve had a role of some kind in one version of the film’s draft. It’s not uncommon for things to change, and it seems that the many contractual goals they’ve set were able to come together to bring us the multiversal film we’re getting next week. So, we’ll see if he might still get a chance to face off against Kraven in a sequel, as Kraven’s Last Hunt would make for an amazing film.

  • REVIEW: ‘Spider-Man’ Still Remains a Timeless Classic of Cinematic Heroics

REVIEW: ‘Spider-Man’ Still Remains a Timeless Classic of Cinematic Heroics

With classic villains returning in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it seemed like the perfect time to revisit the cinematic outings of our favorite webhead. So, it only seems fitting to kick off with the film that started it all, 2002’s Spider-Man. Sam Raimi, at the time mostly known for his work in horror, took on the responsibility of adapting one of Marvel Comics’ most popular characters. It was no small feat, but the franchise is still fondly remembered to this day. Tobey Maguire takes on the role of Peter Parker, as he’s ready to face off against his most iconic villain, Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin. Does the film still hold up after all this time?

    Spider-Man (2002) - IMDb

It’s always weird looking back at films you adored as a kid. I wasn’t a big comic reader at the time, but Raimi‘s film was most certainly the push that would make me the Marvel fan I am today. As an adult, you look at these films with nostalgic glasses but also learn new insights you may have missed as a kid but also have a harder time with some elements. Sadly, it seems the romance between Kirsten Dunst‘s MJ and Peter just hasn’t aged as well for me as I thought it did. While it’s a perfect set-up for Peter to learn not to be selfish, and the ending highlights that very fact, it just takes away from the film a bit with her short-lived romance with Harry.

Now, that doesn’t take away from the film in any way, it just is an element that doesn’t work as well as it used to for me. However, as an element in the story, it is hard to imagine it without. His love for her pushes Peter throughout the story and even builds some distrust with James Franco’s Harry Osborn. I will say, the fact they play out their friendship early on, only for him to date the girl he knows his “best friend” is in love with was a curious choice. It does add some tension to the story, but it adds a naivité to our hero. It’s punctuated by his actions later own as this is a Peter Parker who sees the good in others, which becomes especially essential in the sequel.

    Spider-Man (2002) - Rakuten TV

Speaking of good, it’s incredible to see how well these effects have held up over the years. Yes, there are some moments where it sticks out, but the work here is incredible nonetheless. The scene as he swings MJ to safety with the puppet and hair blowing the wrong way is something you never truly realize until someone points it out, which highlights just how immersed you truly are in the film. Green Goblin’s glider effects have weight to them, but the pumpkin bomb turning people into skeletons was quite a bit over-the-top. Still, it fits right into Raimi’s wheelhouse.

As I mention the director, you can see a lot of his work influenced this film. The creeping camera shots and generally how everything moves to stand out among films of the time. Hell, it even rivals recent releases on how creatively it uses the camera to convey the gravitas of Spider-Man’s actions. While I believe he perfected it in the sequel, there are some truly memorable shots sprinkled throughout that make the film stand the test of time. Even as we have gotten a bit tired of seeing heroes’ origin stories nowadays, this was a spectacle and the film manages to breathe that life into it.

Top 10 Reasons Why Spider-Man 2 is Still the Best Spidey Movie

The highlight of this story lies in how it’s not just an origin story for our hero, but also its main antagonist. We spend a lot of time with Norman throughout the story and mean Norman. While Green Goblin is well played, Raimi understood that it’s the “man” behind the mask and his loss of self. He’s the reflection of our hero, as he’s technically what would happen if Parker never got the Uncle Ben speech. It’s what makes the “my father” speech at the end hit so incredibly well. Not only does it build upon the tragedy that Peter faced early on, but also highlights just how opposed these two characters are.

The film still stands strong among the many that have followed since and there’s a reason it set the stage for modern heroics alongside Blade and 1989’s Batman. While still a bit cheesy, it does lean into the “comic book” aspect of its adaptation and doesn’t shy away from it. What truly cements this film as a cinematic classic lies in its heart, the parallels of Norman and Peter build the story throughout, while also highlighting the performances given by Dafoe and Maguire. There’s a reason they are remembered so fondly in these roles to this very day, and it’s exciting to think their story, especially Norman’s, didn’t end all those years ago.

  • Netflix ‘Daredevil’ Showrunner on Series Status as MCU Canon

Netflix ‘Daredevil’ Showrunner on Series Status as MCU Canon

Earlier this week, Marvel Studios One-Above-All, Kevin Feige, confirmed that Charlie Cox, who portrayed Matt Murdock and Daredevil over 3 seasons of the Netflix series, Daredevil, would be portraying the same character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cox will join Daredevil co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, who first appeared in the briefest of cameos in Episode 3 of Hawkeye, as actors who will portray their Netflix characters in MCU. While that makes for an exciting future, what’s not clear is if the their appearances in the MCU will be continuing the stories they began telling on Netflix, will serve as a soft reboot or will ignore them entirely and simply be the same actors playing entirely new versions of the same characters.

With so much uncertainty over the topic, Twitter user Trash ‘n Treasure smartly asked one guy who might know: Daredevil Season 1 showrunner and director Steven DeKnight. Unfortunately, as it turns out, DeKnight is in the same boat as the rest of us.

It looks like people will continue to debate the canonicity of the Netflix series until we have further evidence from the projects in which the characters will appear (and let’s be honest, even when faced with a factual answer, people will still debate it). However, while fans continue to dwell on the past of the characters, it’s a lot more enjoyable to focus on what seems like it’s going to be an exciting future for them. Regardless of whether or not the events of the Netflix series “happened” in the MCU, two actors who gave incredible performances are about to give fans a whole new set of events to enjoy and debate. With D’Onofrio and Cox expected to be fully revealed in the roles over the next two weeks, we wont have too long to wait to start enjoying them all over again.
