‘Moon Knight’ Trailer Includes First Look at Khonshu

After a long wait, the first trailer has finally dropped for the upcoming Disney+ series, Moon Knight. Oscar Isaac takes the spotlight as the mentally broken man that is about to uncover his secret identity as the titular hero. In the comics, the character suffers from a multiple personality disorder, which made it difficult for readers to know if everything he witnesses is real. Included in that is his own heroic origin as the messenger for the Egyptian god known as Khonshu.

The 2016 comic run introduced a very eerie design, which saw Kohnshu wearing the Mr. Knight outfit but with a bird skull. It was uncertain if the Disney+ series was going to truly jump into that part of his mythology or keep it for the future. Yet, after the first teaser hinted at the inclusion of humanoid Jackals, it gave us some hope that he’d make an appearance in the series. Completely catching us off guard is the fact that Khonshu even shows up in the first trailer for the series.

While we don’t get a full look, we definitely see the iconic staff and the skull that adorned his face. He’s not wearing the white suit, as he is seemingly wearing the same outfit that Moon Knight is in throughout the trailer. As such, we might assume that once he appears it always reflects the costume. The Disney+ Day teaser included a reference to Mr. Knight, which could also lead to Khonshu wearing that outfit as well at some point. It’s exciting to see Marvel Studios fully embrace the character’s mythology and hopefully play with the viewer’s perception of reality.

  • Leaked ‘One Piece’ Photos Confirms Marc Jobst and DOP Nicole Whitaker’s Involvement

Leaked ‘One Piece’ Photos Confirms Marc Jobst and DOP Nicole Whitaker’s Involvement

It looks like some new photos have found their way online from the upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece. We’ve been still anxiously awaiting when the series might start-up production, as hints are it may not be until spring or summer of this year. In the meantime, it seems that some new images have found their way online of the clapperboards that’ll be used during production. As shared by @OP_Netflix_Fan, who has been reliable in the past, the clapperboards include some details for the upcoming production.

What sticks out is that it confirms our story from September that Daredevil director Marc Jobst is involved with the series. It also includes the “Project Panda” title, which was confirmed some time ago. It also includes the director of photography, which is Nicole Hirsch Whitaker. She’s previously worked on projects like Jupiter’s Legacy and Truth Be Told. The only other detail that sticks out is that the unit using these clapperboards is called the “Paramecia Unit,” which is a nice nod to the manga’s naming of a specific Devil Fruit type.

It certainly seems like there’s a lot of movement happening behind the scenes, and we might get a confirmation of their production start similar to other Netflix series, which tend to do it through the Netflix Geeked Twitter account. We did get a short message during Jump Festa from the main cast, but we still have no insight into who the supporting cast might turn out to be. Here’s hoping the wait isn’t that much longer.

  • Ethan Hawke’s ‘Moon Knight’ Character Revealed

Ethan Hawke’s ‘Moon Knight’ Character Revealed

The first trailer for Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight is here and has finally solved the mystery of just who Ethan Hawke is playing in the streaming series.

    https://twitter.com/MarvelStudios/status/1483272963419824130?t=9wCYDGJpa7vDEKCMKB9MuA&s=19

Closed captioning on the trailer reveals that Hawke is playing scientist Arthur Harrow. Harrow was first introduced in Moon Knight Vol. 2 #2. Harrow does some nasty Nazi-esque experiments on people and creates essentially zombie soldiers. This is a shockingly minor character for Hawke to play, but it will give him free reign to recreate the character however he best serves the story.

Moon Knight debuts on Disney Plus March 30th.

  • ‘Moon Knight’ Confirmed For March 30th Premiere

‘Moon Knight’ Confirmed For March 30th Premiere

Ahead of tonight’s trailer, Marvel Studios has finally confirmed the premiere date of Moon Knight. Mark your calendars on March 30th as that’s when the Fist of Konshu debuts in the MCU.

This confirmation comes days after the folks at That Hashtag Show reported the March 30th date. A March 30th premiere date would align Moon Knight’s finale with the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness come May. All in all, very exciting news for everyone dying to see this show.

  • Official Japanese Marvel Site May Offer First Glimpse at Marvel Studios’ 2022 Disney+ Schedule

Official Japanese Marvel Site May Offer First Glimpse at Marvel Studios’ 2022 Disney+ Schedule

We’ve been trying to wrap our heads around what the schedule might look like for Marvel Studios’ release plans on Disney+ in 2022. We even made a conceptual timeline, which you can check out here. The latest reveal that we’ll get a Moon Knight trailer on Monday at least confirmed what we can expect early on, but we still know very little about the rest of the year. Luckily, the Japanese Marvel site may have offered our potential first glimpse at the 2022 release schedule.

What stands out is that Moon Knight is included ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is then followed by She-Hulk. That schedule makes sense given the six-episode structure, but what is a bit confusing is that between its release and that of Thor: Love and Thunder in July, we would get not one but three Disney+ series. In addition to She-Hulk, I Am Groot and the second season of What If…? are included. Of course, it may overlap given when the shows might release, but Ms. Marvel seemingly won’t release until the fourth Thor film hits theaters in July.

It seems a bit unrealistic we’d get three shows in the course of a few months, as 2021 was quite spread out. Plus, there are also quite a few Star Wars series that is aiming a release next year Also, if this is a potential “release schedule” it does make you wonder why Secret Invasion is set ahead of November’s release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but is the only one listed without a release date. Plus, it would make sense for that series to release around The Marvels and it might be quite a lot if they release six series over the course of a year.

It actually makes you wonder just how big a project I Am Groot might be, as it could be closer to Disney+’s classic shorts. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more an Olaf Presents-type series that consists of a few smaller segments. So, that would make its release more fitting but What If…? and She-Hulk within around two months seems like a lot. Perhaps they are trying out a new strategy this year, but we won’t know until we get a clearer release date.

  • Danny Trejo Shares a BTS Image From ‘The Book of Boba Fett’

Danny Trejo Shares a BTS Image From ‘The Book of Boba Fett’

The latest The Book of Boba Fett episode continued to explore its titular character’s hold over Tatooine. Temuera Morrison gets a lot of chances to humanize a character that previously didn’t get much character development. The highlight of the episode is when he is given a young Rancor as a gift, which includes a cameo by Danny Trejo as its trainer. It’s a heartfelt moment and the addition of the Machete actor’s performance made it a standout in the episode. To celebrate his appearance in the series, he shared a new image from behind-the-scenes.

It’s great to see how they continue to use practical effects to bring elements from this universe to life. The fact we even get to learn more about the beast’s nature, which also plays in nicely into the parallels with the same happening to Fett. Also, the fact Trejo makes a reference to Machete Kills Again… In Space! is such a great callback. We don’t know how big of a role he has in the season, but hopefully, we’ll get a lot more as we further explore what it takes to raise and eventually ride a Rancor.

  • ‘Moon Knight’ Disney+ Teaser Offers First Look a Comic-Inspired Humanoid Jackal

‘Moon Knight’ Disney+ Teaser Offers First Look a Comic-Inspired Humanoid Jackal

We’ve long theorized that Moon Knight is our first step into the supernatural horror from the comics. Ever since the announcement that Blade was getting a film, it seemed like the perfect start into that world. Ironically, Eternals’ post-credit sequence did technically set up that corner with the first off-screen appearance of Mahershala Ali‘s Blade, but the latest teaser for Moon Knight solidified the supernatural direction for the franchise. While teased in the initial 2022 preview from Disney+ Day, the teaser unveiled who it is that Moon Knight is beating up and it looks like a humanoid Jackal.

It takes a bit to make out, but you can clearly see its brown thin legs with the Jackal-esque ears and snout before he gets a hit to the face. At first one would think it may be a Werewolf, especially with the Halloween special in development, but fans of the 2016 Moon Knight run might remember we’ve seen humanoid Jackals inspired by the Egyptian god of Anubis before. This one doesn’t seem to be wearing the white jacket that we saw in the comics, but we also don’t know how much the show is going to play with us as viewers. It’s great though how much they are jumping into the Egyptian aspect of the character.

  • New ‘Moon Knight’ Teaser Offers First Look at Ethan Hawke’s Mystery Villain

New ‘Moon Knight’ Teaser Offers First Look at Ethan Hawke’s Mystery Villain

We’ve been discussing when we may finally find out what is the first 2022 release by Marvel Studios on Disney+. When the teaser for a trailer dropped today, it was our confirmation that Moon Knight will be the first to start off the year. We still have to wait until Monday, but even the small teaser has offered a few glimpses at what we can expect from the new series. Among them is our first look at Ethan Hawke‘s mysterious character in the upcoming series.

We’re still waiting for any real hint at who exactly he is playing, but there have been many theories that he may turn out to be Dracula. Yet, we’ve also theorized he might be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s take on The Profile. For now, all we can do is theorize on who he is, and there’s a chance the full trailer may offer a closer hint due to his limited role in the teaser, but him sensing the “chaos” in Marc Spector does hint at a supernatural connection.

Peacock Renews ‘One Of Us Is Lying’ for Season 2, Nabs New Showrunner

Peacock has given a season two order to its young-adult drama, One of Us is Lying.

The drama, which is based on Karen M. McManus’ best-selling novel, proved to be a success for the streaming service. It tells the story of five high school students who go to detention together, with only four making it out alive. This ultimately leads to the others becoming suspects, as each student has something they’re hiding for one reason or another. The series stars Mark McKenna as Simon, Annalisa Cochrane as Addy, Chibuikem Uche as Cooper, Marianly Tejada as Bronwyn and Cooper van Grootel as Nate.

Erica Saleh, who helped to develop the series, is stepping up as the show’s new showrunner ahead of Season 2. Saleh will take over for Darío Madrona, who will remain on the show as an executive producer.

“From the moment we saw the pilot Erica wrote, we knew this was a special show and we’re thrilled that Peacock felt the same,” said UCP President Beatrice Springborn in a statement to Deadline. “Returning to shoot in New Zealand with Erica as showrunner for Season 2 is an exciting next chapter in the wild and fun story of the Bayview Four.”

Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, has praised the fans of the series for helping it to become such a success. “The fandom behind the series is incredibly passionate and we can’t wait to deliver more twists and turns that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.”

Season 2 of One of Us is Lying will pick up where the first season left off, but it will deviate from the novel’s story going forward.
