One month before The Batman was released in theaters in March 2022, director Matt Reeves confirmed plans for a sequel with Matt Tomlin co-writing the film with him. In January 2023, it was revealed that the sequel would be produced under DC Studios Elseworlds banner and hit theaters on October 3, 2025.
